Great fit but one flaw
Crutchfield customer from Olathe, KS on 3/26/2019
2009 Smart fortwo
Simple and easy to put together/attach. I do have a few issues with it though: 1. The holes for the screws are slightly off, making it impossible for me to secure my head unit to the sides of the adapter with more than two screws. The holes are there to be able to attach four screws total, but the lower two are about 1/4" off. 2. There's no real indicator on the sides of the adapter to let you know which side goes where on the faceplate. I had to use the picture on the instructions as a reference to figure it out, which was a bit of a hassle.
Pros: Easy to install Comes with most of what you need
Cons: Minor misalignment of screw holes Easy to get sides mixed up when assembling Doesn't come with its own screws to mount the radio to the sides. You either have to use the ones from your factory radio (if you have them), use the ones from your aftermarket radio (if it came with them), or go get your own.

A perfect fit in the 2009 Smart car. JVC head unit bolted right in and the entire unit slid into the dash like it was built for it.
Pros: Inexpensive, fits like a glove
Cons: Not free, doesn't make car go faster

Fit the dash, but not the radio
JimB from Kansas on 5/7/2015
2008 Smart fortwo
I bought an Axxera AV714BH and this kit came recommended as fitting my Smart 2008 fortwo cabrio. When I tried to install the radio in the faceplate, I discovered the opening was too narrow, completely useless. I did like the looks of the kit and the pocket was a nice size. Before trying to fit the stereo I had put the pocket and side brackets together. Everytime I drove a screw in, the hole the screw went into cracked. I ended up buying a Metra installation kit and had to give up on installing a flip screen stereo in the Smart. The stereo I did end up installing in the Smart also failed to fit the Scosche kit.
Pros: Looks good, fit the dash opening. Large pocket.
Cons: Stereo opening not wide enough to fit the two stereos I tried. Plastic screw holes cracked when assembling.

Does the Trick

Very impressed with the construction, build quality, and ease of installation. Using with a single DIN Sony media receiver, looks very nice and I appreciate the storage space under the unit.
Pros: Very solid, includes flanges on sides to support weight. Storage pocket is not full depth of unit, perfect area to bundle wiring harness for very easy installation..

It does the job with some tweaks

I used this Scosche Mounting kit for the JVC KW-NT3HDT. The problem I had with this kit was that I had to finagle the screws(I only ended up using one on each side) In order to allow the detachable faceplate access to pop off when I wanted to take it with me. First couple of times it was frustrating to get it to fit just right in order to allow the faceplate to come off properly. Once I got it set the fit into the slot made the stereo look stock as opposed to after market, and the kit did what it was meant to do.

Scosche ST2430B Dash Kit

This fit perfectly in the dash of my smart fortwo cabrio, replacing the factory radio. I used it to install a Kenwood KDC-HD545U. Since the replacement radio is half the size of the factory, I was able to use the included pocket to get a little extra storage space on the dash (for sunglasses or whatever). The color matches my dash and it pretty much looks factory. The only reason I gave a 4 instead of 5 is that the top of the storage pocket has some bend in it that I was not able to completely remove. So if you look at it closely you can see the slight bend under the radio. I am pretty sure I am the only one that would notice it.

Fit could have been better for double din unit
Jeff from Sycamore, Alabama on 2/8/2010
2009 Smart fortwo
The unit fit my car like a glove. I painted it a semi metallic silver to match my cars interior. Paint did not stuck good, had to be slow and use a plastic primer to make look good. The unit is well put together and fits in the car well with the supports built in just like the factory unit that came out. My only complaint was that the head unit I purchased ( Pioneer FH-P8oooBT) did not feel up the opening. I have a slight gap at top and bottom on the unit to the dash kit. I have made a gasket to hide this but wish it had fit a little better.
