Looks really good, puts up zero fight being put together and installed in the car like some unbranded kits. Only gripe was that there is a very slight gap in the bottom where it meets the car's panel it sits inside, but it doesn't really bother me enough to knock off any stars

2012 Volkswagen Jetta
The kit itself looks good and blends in to the VW's factory face plate. My only complaint is that the "ears" will crack when you tighten the radio's screws enough to ensure a secure fit. I worked around this by using a washer on each screw (you'll need about a 13/64" inside diameter, give or take, and about 1/2" outside diameter). My receiver came with pan head screws, which worked fine with washers, but most receivers come with countersunk head screws, which might pose a problem. Loctite might help with this, so just be aware of the potential pitfalls using plastic I bring this up because the problem I ran into using Scosche dash kits is that I lost a couple screws in another vehicle of mine due to vibration because I couldn't tighten them enough without damaging the "ears". Now I have a radio in one of my cars with two missing screws and I couldn't use the touch screen without pushing the radio in.
Pros: Looks good and provides a professional-looking fit
Cons: Plastic parts limit how much torque you can use during assembly

Fits up very well, nice and clean. No gaps or funky edges. I personally didn't have an issue with install but the install instructions included with the product are very small and I can see people running into a snag trying to figure out the details.

This thing sucks It didn't fit nicely with the radio or the car. Would rather have the factory radio. the bottom didn't clip into the factory bezel well so the bezel stuck out and had a edge and the top didn't line up at all leaving an 1/8 in gap and the factory bezel stuck out maybe 1/4 inch. Looked horrible. But admittedly the texture of the face looked good. And it technically bolted on and worked.
Pros: Face texture matches. Bolts in.
Cons: Fits horribly hard to imaging the makes we're okay with it and let this go into production

Mounting tab alignment left a small gap between the unit face and trim ring when fitted to a Boss BE7. For my installation, installing the the Jetta's radio/HVAC trim panel made the gap virtually unnoticeable unless you were looking for it, but could present an issue for some installs. Color and texture match to Jetta SE dash panel trim is perfect.

It fit, but it definitely seemed like the right and left side pieces were labeled backwards. Putting it together as labeled did not fit the radio so I got creative and switched sides and it worked better. It fit the dash and radio face correctly.

This works well for my application, and since I used this for a low budget install in my daughter's car, it's not a huge deal. The pocket included for single DIN applications is kind of cheap looking. If I spent more for a double DIN unit, it would have never come up.

I was pleasantly surprised to get the package two days later! I am currently just collecting parts for a project I'm working on replacing my radio with and this part was the quickest and easiest to find. Kudos, Crutchfield!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While this works great with my VW, it doesn't work with the JVC KW-M855BW I bought since it's too low profile. This radio sits recessed in the mount about 1/4-1/2". It did work on a different car with an older jvc since it stuck out further. Luckily Crutchfield sent me the metra kit at no charge which worked great.

This face plate did not fit as well as I would like. The opening for the double din radio was about 0.125" too tall. I split the gap during installation but it's still noticeable. The width of the opening is perfect. So the spacing around the radio is not consistent.

The raised edges on the plastic sides prevented form placing radio into the opening. When I talked to tech support their sugestion was to to encure that that nothging was blcoking behind like the harneses. Then said if still to wide to file it down. I had to remove everything and put factory stero back in until I checked again. Then had to get a different faceplate just to get it into the car. Might check around for a faceplate that looks better than this and the one I did get. Saw some one online that I might try later.

The unit is all plastic but not flimsy. It fits well my 2006 GTI MKV, but not quite perfect with the Sony XAV-AX100 radio it was paired with (a small gap along the top). The color is also a noticeably darker black than my car's interior AND the Sony radio. If it matched better I'd give it 4 stars.

What I typically expect from an aftermarket install kit. It did fit into the car (2007 Passat while installing the Sony XAV-AX100 Carplay/Android Auto unit), but like almost all adapter kits, the plastic is cheap and weak. You need to be very careful not to tighten the screws too much, otherwise the plastic will crack or strip out very easily. If the unit I were installing was heavier (like if it had built in navigation and a CD player), I doubt the plastic would have been able to support the weight of the head unit using only the front mounting screws. In my application, it also mounted the head unit slightly below the front surface of the trim (I made sure the unit was as far forward as possible). Although this doesn't get in the way of the screen and doesn't really look that noticeable, this particular head unit has a small volume knob that is very close to the edge. Being set back a couple millimeters, the knob is very difficult to get a grasp on a turn. If the knob were taller or if there were no knobs at all, this wouldn't be an issue.

Fits perfect in my 09 GTI. I was actually able to flush mount the head unit instead of having it stick out like many install kits I have seen. So it looks very clean. No wavy gaps around the edges or anything like some kits I've used had.

This mont seems to work in most VW Jettas made from 2010 and up. I have a 2010 Jetta S and this baby worked like a charm. Especially nice that it comes with a tray for smaller car radeo's. It's also just as sturdy as the original insert.

Not bad for fitting a square peg into a round hole. Tight solid mount.
Pros: Good solid, tight mount. DIN removal tools can't be used so theft won't be an issue. Gaps on all sides are tight, leaving a clean look.
Cons: No instructions. Had to figure it out, but not too difficult to figure out either. Had to pull out additional cage that factory radio simply slid in. Not that big deal, but had to mount new radio directly to cage. New radio sleeve does not fit, so can't get new radio out without disassembling dash...Again. Hopefully won't have to remove. Flat front plate doesn't curve like dash in center, but not too noticeable.

It fit the car, but not the radio. Unless you shave the edges there is no way to fit the faceplate for the head unit. When I called Crutchfield to tell them all they could tell me was to call Scosche. That's the kind of customer service I didn't expect.

It's pretty easy to figure out and it did it's job; my Kenwood deck fit the double din opening in my 2011 Jetta. My only problem with the kit is that one of the predrilled holes split whenever I drove the screw in. It wasn't an aggressive maneuver or anything, it should not have broken so I guess just be extremely careful.

The install kit was a little confusing at first. I wish the instructions were a little better. Once figured out it became quit easy to install. Only problem I had was deciding whether to use the metal box mount or the plastic mount. Used the plastic.
Pros: Once all figured out very easy to install.
Cons: Needed a little better instruction. Didn't know whether to use the metal box or the plastic one. Lost time in installing onto dash. From having to switching from one to another. Need better instructions for the wiring harness and the mounting pieces. But it was well worth the time and effort that was put in the installation.

It gets the job done, but doesn't looks as good as the new head unit does in the car. Sort of distracts from the awesomeness of the fancy new touchscreen or whatever head unit you're putting in. There are better kits out there if you're willing to spend a bit more.
Pros: Definitely works. No doubt about that. Gets the job done and in the end, that's what matters.
Cons: Overall aesthetic is pretty bland.

Wrong parts

The package came with the wrong parts (two right brackets) which i had to modify to hold the head unit properly. Not sure if that affected the fit but there was a small gap at the bottom of the bezel that had to be filled in.

This product made for an easy install in my 2007 Jetta, replacing the factory stereo with a double DIn Pioneer 720BT. Everything went together easily and fit right into the dash opening. The finish of the face plate is a perfect match for the factory dash materials, but the top side of the face plate shows a little bit of separation from the factory trim piece above it. I notice it when I look hard, but otherwise it is perfect. My only other issue with the product is that it is 100% plastic. I didn't strip any screws putting it together, and it seems completely stable, so I'm not concerned by it, but I was expecting a metal frame with a plastic face. For a free installation kit, though, I'm not going to complain.

Everything fit well but, the side brackets that screw into the face...are built poorly. With just a little tension, the screws cracked the brackets. Little cheaply made. Be careful, don't tighten that much at all.
