GPS makes locating fish less worrisome
GPS makes locating fish less worrisome
Want to catch more fish without buying a new device with a screen? Garmin's STRIKER Cast GPS castable sonar device with GPS works with the free Garmin STRIKER Cast app on your smartphone or tablet, giving you a great view of the water nearby, so you can see where the fish are without getting wet yourself. Its built-in GPS capability lets you create detailed maps to get back to those fishing hotspots on return voyages, so you can count on bragging rights down the road.
Works in all kinds of water and depths
The STRIKER Cast GPS device functions just fine in both freshwater and saltwater, and can even handle the rigors of ice fishing. It streams wirelessly from up to 200 feet away, so you can see fish and underwater structure in easy-to-read detail on your device's screen. It'll find the fish whether you're in a shallow stream or out in the ocean. You can choose to employ traditional 2-dimensional sonar mode, or use the more complicated flasher for ice fishing. You can adjust settings for gain, range, and more to dial things in just right.
Built-in GPS for mapping
Once you've found the perfect spots for picking up fish, you'll want to make sure you can find them again. You can download maps from the online Garmin Quickdraw Community to your phone or tablet, and use the maps to mark prime locations. The device's built-in GPS also lets you create your own custom fishing maps with 1' contours using Quickdraw Contours software, so you can easily find those spots again. And you can share the maps with other fishing enthusiasts using Garmin's free ActiveCaptain app.
Built-in rechargeable battery
The STRIKER Cast GPS's built-in rechargeable battery offers up to 10 hours of life on a single charge, and its water-resistance rating means you can leave it in the water for a while without worry. The device even knows to turn off automatically when it's not in the water to conserve the battery

More details on the Garmin STRIKER Cast GPS

Product Research
Features
Overview: The Garmin STRIKER™ Cast GPS is a compact, floating sonar device that helps you to locate more fish at your favorite fishing spot. It can be paired with your iPhone or Android smartphone or tablet for viewing the live stream on the STRIKER Cast app. You can view the fish, as well as underwater structure. The built-in GPS lets you create Quickdraw maps with 1' contours. STRIKER Cast GPS works in freshwater or saltwater, and can also be used for ice fishing. It has a 200' streaming range, and operates on a rechargeable battery.
Sonar: The STRIKER Cast GPS offers two sonar frequencies to choose from: 260kHz and 455kHz. The 455kHz setting uses a narrower beam, which works better in rough water. The higher frequency also gives you better bottom definition, and a better indication of the thermocline (the depth at which the water temperature sharply declines). The 260kHz sonar frequency uses a wider beam and covers a larger area. You can view more, and larger, targets. Wider beams perform better in deep water because the lower frequency penetrates the water deeper.
GPS: The STRICKER Cast GPS and the STRIKER Cast app let you generate maps of your favorite bodies of water. The app's Quickdraw Contours mapping feature records contour and depth data, and draws a map of the selected body of water as you pass over the water. As data is recorded, a colored circle surrounds your position icon to represent the approximate area of the map that is scanned by each pass. The colors are coded for good depth, GPS position, and scanning speed (Green), good depth and GPS position but the speed is a little too fast (Yellow), and poor depth, GPS position, or speed (Red). The Garmin Quickdraw Community, a free public online community, enables you to share your maps with others, as well as download maps from other users. Another handy use of the built-in GPS is to help locate lost devices.
Usage: The STRIKER Cast GPS sonar device can be used with the included 5-meter (16.4') tether, or you can attach a fishing line of 20-lb. test or higher and a #3 barrel swivel with a snap. You can cast the device from the shore, dock, or watercraft, and reel back in to locate and display fish on your device. A dedicated, medium-action (or heavier) fishing rod is recommended, or you could simply tie it off using the included tether. Casting allows you to continually change the location you want to scan. You can also tether the sonar unit to a kayak or canoe and tow it slowly (5 mph or less) behind the vessel. The STRIKER Cast GPS has a streaming range of up to 200 feet.
STRIKER™ Cast App: The Garmin STRIKER™ Cast app is required to view the sonar images on your smartphone or tablet. It pairs to your phone/tablet via Bluetooth and streams the signal to your device within a range of up to 200 feet. The app displays fish and structure in crisp, easy-to-read detail. You can choose from traditional 2-D sonar and ice fishing flasher modes. The Sonar Screen on your device shows the depth and water temperature numerically. Fish are indicated on the screen as "arcs" beneath the water surface. A depth gauge appears on the right edge of the screen to help you determine the depth at which the fish are located. Underwater structure, such as rocks and brush piles, are also shown in the Sonar View. The Flasher View shows the sonar information on a circular depth scale, and is most effective when ice fishing. The flasher colors indicate different strengths of the sonar return, from yellow (strongest) to orange, red, and blue (weakest). White indicates no return. In the center of the Flasher View circle is the numeric readings of the depth and water temperature. The app also displays the Bluetooth signal strength, GPS signal strength, as well as the transducer's battery level. The STRIKER Cast GPS app is available for iPhones and iPads running iOS version 12.0 or later, and for Android device with Android 6.0 and up.
Battery: The STRIKER Cast GPS operates on a built-in Lithium-ion rechargeable battery. The battery charges in approximately 1.5 hours via USB, using the supplied 21" charging cable. On a full charge, the sonar device has a battery life of approximately 10 hours with typical use. The device automatically powers on when you put it into the water, and stays on as long as it's floating. It also stays on as long as the app is connected. The unit automatically turn off approximately two minutes after you disconnect it from the app and take it out of the water. You can monitor the sonar device's battery level in the app.
