With the built-in Elevate™ wrist heart rate technology, your heart rate can be measured at the wrist instead of requiring you to wear a separate chest strap. The results of your activities can be easily uploaded to the Garmin Connect online community for sharing.
Physical Attributes: The Venu Sq 2 features a rugged squared anodized aluminum bezel, a fiber-reinforced polymer outer case, and a Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3 lens. The silicone band fits wrists with a circumference of 4.92" to 7.48" (125-190mm). The silicone watch band can be replaced with a wide variety of optional Quick Release Bands (20mm) available separately from Garmin.
- Dimensions:
- Watch: Width 1.498", Height 1.987", Depth 0.493"
- Band: Width 0.788" (20mm), Length 9.625"
- Weight: 1.34 ounces
Water Resistant: The Venu Sq 2 has a 5 ATM water rating, which means it can withstand pressures equivalent to a depth of 50 meters (164 feet). Not only can you wear the device in the rain and wet weather, you can even swim with it. It is not recommended for high-speed watersports or scuba diving. The device also has a wide operating temperature range of -4° to 140°F.
Display: The Garmin Venu Sq 2 has a 1.41" (diagonal) AMOLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 360 pixels. You can set the length of time before the display turns off, or choose the Always On option to keep the time of day visible. The online Garmin Connect IQ Store lets you download optional watch faces, apps, and widgets to customize your watch to match your personality.
Wireless Connectivity: You can connect your Venu Sq 2 to your smartphone via Bluetooth using the Garmin Connect app to gain access to numerous connected features. The Garmin Connect app is available for Android (7.0 and up) and iOS (14.0 or later). When connected via Bluetooth, you can do the following:

High-Sensitivity GPS Receiver: The unit features a high-sensitivity GPS receiver. With multi-satellite support (GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo), the device stays locked onto satellites, even near tall buildings or under tree cover. If you're in a wide open area, you can turn off the GLONASS or Galileo options to save battery life.
Elevate™ Technology: The Venu Sq 2 is equipped with Elevate wrist heart rate technology, which monitors your heart rate without having to wear a chest strap. Whenever you wear the Venu Sq 2, your heart rate is being monitored through your skin, even while you sleep. The heart rate data helps to provide an accurate reading of calories burned, and to measure the intensity of your workout. You may turn off wrist-based heart rate monitoring while wearing an optional chest heart rate monitor.
Physiological Measurements: The Venu Sq 2's Elevate wrist heart rate monitor can take physiological measurements to help you analyze your training activities and race performances. The more you use the Venu Sq 2, the more accurate the estimates become, as the device learns about your activities and performances. Physiological measurement estimates include VO2 Max (oxygen consumption) and heart rate variability (stress).
Step Counter: The Venu Sq 2's activity tracking feature records your daily step count, distance traveled, intensity minutes, calories burned, and sleep statistics for each recorded day. You can create daily goals, which are updated automatically based on your previous activity levels. Move alerts, which appear after a period of inactivity, remind you to keep moving.
Widgets: The Garmin Venu Sq 2 comes preloaded with widgets that put information at your fingertips. You can choose which widgets are visible in a customizable list. Some widgets are general in nature, such as Calendar, Music Controls, Notifications, and Weather. Fitness activities, including calories burned, golf, intensity minutes, step count, and My Day (summary of your activities). The remaining widgets are health-related, including Body Battery, heart rate, hydration, menstrual cycle tracking, pulse oximeter, respiration, stress, and Health Stats (a summary of your current health statistics). Many of the widgets require the use of the Garmin Connect app.
Music Controls: The Venu Sq 2 lets you control audio content on your paired smartphone. You can browse the audio files and playlists, adjust the volume, play/pause the current track, skip to the next or previous track, fast forward or fast reverse the current track, and engage the repeat or shuffle modes.
Garmin Pay: The Garmin Venu Sq 2 features the Garmin Pay contactless payment solution. Garmin Pay lets you pay for purchases quickly without your wallet or phone. It works almost anywhere you can make contactless payments. All you have to do is enter your passcode, select the credit card you want to use from your virtual wallet, and hold your wrist near the card reader. Your card number is not stored on your device, or passed to merchants when you pay, so it's private and secure. Garmin Pay works with many major credit and debit cards from major banks, including Visa and MasterCard.
Rechargeable Battery: The Venu Sq 2 has a powerful built-in Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. A 21" data cable/charging cradle is provided for charging the battery and uploading your training data. The battery life depends upon the features you use:
Mode | Battery Life |
Smartwatch Mode (w/ activity tracking and 24/7 wrist-based heart rate monitoring) | Up to 11 days |
Smartwatch mode with Battery Saver enabled | Up to 12 days |
Always on Display Mode | Up to 2 days |
All Systems GPS Mode | Up to 20 hours |
GPS Only Mode | Up to 26 hours |
Sports Apps: The Venu Sq 2 has more than 25 built-in Sports Apps that include both indoor sports, as well as outdoor sports with GPS assistance. Some of the Sports Apps include:
- Golf: The Golf app lets you download data from more than 42,000 golf courses worldwide. Before you play, you can download data from your chosen course, which includes distances for each hole. As you play, the watch displays yardage to the front and back of the green, distance to the selected pin location, and distances to layups and doglegs. The Golf app shows you the direction to the pin, and will measure your shot distance automatically. You can keep your score on the digital scorecard, including strokes, putts per round, and the number of greens and fairways hit.
- Swimming: Before you go for a pool swim, you can select the pool size or enter a custom size. This will allow the watch to keep track of your strokes, and the number of lengths of the pool you swim. The activity timer will automatically record your swim intervals, lengths, and rest periods.
- Running: While running, the Venu Sq 2, the activity timer can record your run, while the watch records the number of laps you run. During your run, you can pair ANT+ wireless sensors, such as a foot pod or heart rate monitor, to receive valuable data to better analyze the effects of your workout.
- Biking: You can record the time and distance of your ride using the sports watch. Wireless sensors, such as a heart rate monitor, speed and cadence sensor, or Varia bike light or radar, can be paired to enhance your riding experience.
- HIIT: If you are engaging in High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), you can use the built-in timer to time each activity. There are options for AMRAP (as many rounds as possible), EMOM (every minute on the minute), and Tabata (to alternate between 20-second intervals of maximum effort with 10 seconds of rest). The watch displays a countdown timer and your current heart rate while you workout.
- Indoor Activities: When training indoors, the GPS should be turned off. The watch's built-in accelerometer lets you calculate your speed and distance while you run or walk on an indoor track. A speed and cadence sensor can send data to the watch as you workout on a stationary bike. After running a mile or more on a treadmill, you can record a more accurate distance on the watch by calibrating it with the treadmill distance. If participating in Strength Training, you can count reps and sets for each exercise.
Sleep Tracking: The Venu Sq 2's Sleep Mode can detect when you sleep, and monitors your movement during normal sleep hours. Sleep statistics included total hours of sleep, sleep stages, periods of movement, and periods of restful sleep. An overall daily sleep score is calculated from a formula applied to your sleep statistics. If desired, you can use the Do Not Disturb mode to turn off the backlight and vibration alerts.
User Profile: The Garmin Venu Sq 2 uses information that you enter about yourself to calculate accurate training data. You can enter the following user profile information: Gender, Birth Year, Height, Weight, and heart rate zone. The device will use this information to calculate accurate training data.
Auto Lap: Auto Lap automatically marks a lap at a specific distance. This feature is helpful for comparing your performance over different parts of an activity. Each time you complete a lap, the device will beep or vibrate, and the lap time is displayed.
Auto Pause: You can set the Venu Sq 2 to pause the timer automatically when you stop moving, or when your pace drops below a specified value. This feature is helpful if you have to stop for traffic or to tie your shoe during your run.
Watch Functions: When you're not working out, the Venu Sq 2 can be used as a basic watch, displaying the time and date, along with an alarm and stopwatch. You can configure the watch face in a number of ways, including analog/digital, icons, style, and colors. The time is automatically set by the GPS receiver (or manually, if desired), and can be displayed in 12-hour or 24-hour format. The device can also provide local sunrise and sunset times.
Watch Faces: The Venu Sq 2 lets you customize the appearance of the watch face by selecting available layouts, colors, and additional data. Custom watch faces can be downloaded from the Connect IQ store.
