Garmin Approach® X40
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Love the Approach X40. Works great!
Playing 18 holes can move between relaxing and frustrating in a hurry, but it's never going to be considered the epitome of rigorous exercise. If you're serious about getting fit between games of golf, Garmin's Approach X40 golf GPS band can play a major part. Not only will its database of 40,000 international courses allow you to take it nearly anywhere you play, but its wrist heart-rate monitor and fitness tracking capabilities mean you won't have to worry about keeping tabs on multiple devices and accessories when it's time to hit the gym or track.
The band's built-in GPS receiver finds you automatically and locks in on your location. The Approach X40's rechargeable battery gives you up to 10 hours of play time in GPS mode, and can last up to 5 days in activity mode. And since the band's waterproof up to 50 meters, it can handle the pool just as easily as sudden inclement weather.
Garmin's Elevate heart wrist technology removes the need for clunky chest straps and wires. The Approach X40 tracks your heart rate at the wrist 24/7, and can use your heart rate to deliver key activity stats like calories burned and other indicators of workout intensity.
The Approach X40 starts measuring your activity as soon as you put it on. Once it's tracked you for a few days, it will start giving you daily step goals based on your prior activity. And if you're the kind to succumb to binge-watching TV shows, it has a "move bar" that'll remind you to get up and walk around every so often.
Do you get nervous the night before a big match? The Approach X40's sleep monitor can help you track your total sleep and periods of movement or restless sleep. And its alarm clock will ensure you never miss an early tee time.
The Approach X40 gives you distances to the front, back, and center of the green, plus distances to doglegs and layups. You can even get a closer look at the green and move the pin to suit your location. It'll even show you where the hazards and course targets are. One glance at your wrist offers you a wealth of information with clear, easy-to-read numbering.
The Approach X40 tracks your shots and records shot locations as you move through the course. It'll accurately determine the distance of each shot so you don't have to guess. Once you've completed your game, you can see your results online using Garmin Connect.
Garmin Connect is where your golf game lives online. Set up a free account and use it to track your stats and get in-depth analysis using the band's data. You can share your stats and results with other users locally and around the world. Add the Garmin Connect app to your smartphone, and it'll enable automatic course updates for your favorite spots to the Approach X40 when the devices are paired.
Want to analyze your game for future improvement? The Approach X40 lets you track your putts per round, greens and fairways hit, and average distance of your strokes. It also offers digital scorecard options for individual players, including Stroke Play and Stableford. You can save, review, and print scorecards from your computer.
You can pair the Approach X40 with most recent iPhone® models and select Android™ models through Bluetooth® low energy to receive notifications about incoming texts and calls directly on the band's face. These notifications will come as quiet vibrations that won't upset others on the course. Leave your phone in your bag and concentrate on the matter at hand: crushing your opponent.
Garmin's extensive course database comes already loaded on the Approach X40, so you won't need any subscriptions or additional downloads to enjoy it. Simply charge it up, throw on your argyle sweater, and you're ready to go. You can obtain new course update downloads directly from Garmin's website.
The Approach X40 works with Garmin's TruSwing sensor to provide detailed metrics that'll help you make your swing consistent and accurate. You'll get feedback on crucial components of your movements to keep you on target, including 3-D animations when using the Garmin Connect online platform.

Love the Approach X40. Works great!
Great product perfect for golf and walking.
Got for my husband for Father's Day! He could not believe the features and accuracy. He usually does not like things on his wrist when golfing but the nice soft band just makes it feel as if it's a part of his glove.
Excellent product for golf but battery life could longer and once you are finished a round you have to keep swipe it for time. Great features for golf though
Great product. Replaced my old hand held golf GPS device. Nice to have the activity tracker and golf package all in one. Digits are a little on the small side for those with vision issues but understandable given size of product. Double edged sword as I was concerned about wearing this effecting my swing as I don't normally wear a watch when playing but small size kept that to a minimum. Overall love the product and highly would highly recommend.
Pros: All In one activity tracker and GPS Golf data Size Accuracy
Cons: Small Digits ( dbl edge sword as size is also a pro )
