Features
Wireless Backup Camera System: The Garmin BC 35 wireless backup camera works with select Garmin GPS navigators to provide a clear view behind your vehicle as you attempt to back up. A backup camera helps you easily spot vehicles, pedestrians, pets, and other hard-to-see obstructions behind your vehicle to minimize the risk of "blind zone" accidents whenever your vehicle is moving in reverse. On-screen guidance lines help you more easily gauge the distance to obstacles in view. The camera is connected to a Wi-Fi transmitter, which wirelessly transmits the camera footage directly to the GPS device. The BC 35 includes the backup camera, camera mounting bracket, wireless transmitter, and about 16-1/2 feet of cable.
Compatibility: The BC 35 is compatible with select Garmin devices, including the following:
- Overlander
- dēzl 780 LMT-S
- dēzlCam 785 LMT-S
- RV 785 & Traffic
- RV 701 Navigator and Remote
- Garmin fleet 770*
- Garmin fleet 780*
- Garmin fleet 790*
* Garmin fleet units are sold only through authorized Garmin fleet management partners, and not by Crutchfield.
Wireless Operation: The BC 35 consists of a 160° wide-angle backup camera and a wireless transmitter. The transmitter uses Wi-Fi to send the camera footage to the compatible GPS navigator's display up to 45 feet away. The system can be hardwired to your vehicle's reverse lights for power to automatically display the footage each time you shift the vehicle into reverse. When you shift to a forward gear, the navigation device resumes normal operation. You could also wire the system to constant power so you can view the backup camera's footage at any time. Up to four BC 35 cameras can be used within the same system to give you multiple viewing angles when backing up your vehicle. The compatible navigator allows you to toggle between the navigation displays and backup displays.
Rugged Camera: The BC 35 camera is designed to withstand harsh conditions. It has an IPX7 water rating, and an operating temperature range of -4° to 158°F (-20° to 70°C).
Guidance Lines: Guidance lines provide an approximate visual representation of the vehicle's path when in reverse. To provide the most accurate reference, you must initially align the guidance lines with the backup camera from your Garmin GPS navigator. In the navigator's menu, you can choose whether or not to show the Guidance Lines on the screen.
Note: The guidance lines feature is intended for informational and reference purposes only. You are responsible for maintain awareness of your surroundings.
Mounting and Wiring: The camera comes with an adjustable mount that allows you to mount the camera on a horizontal or vertical surface on the outside rear of your vehicle. The attached bracket lets you tilt the camera up to 90°. You can clip the bracket onto a license plate (or similar surface) or fasten it to the rear of the vehicle with the supplied self-tapping screws. The wireless transmitter should be mounted on the interior of your vehicle, as it is not water-resistant. The transmitter hardwires to your backup light circuit for power. The camera has a 5' cable that plugs into the transmitter harness via a proprietary 6-pin plug.
Note: You should take note of which direction is up when testing the camera view before permanently mounting the camera.
