An easy way to record the road
An easy way to record the road
Garmin's Dash Cam Mini loop-records the road through a 140° wide-angle lens, capturing everything ahead of you in 1080p HD resolution. The cam includes a 16GB microSD card and comes equipped built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for easy sharing with mobile devices. Its mount adheres to your windshield, and Garmin gives you a vehicle charger for power.
If you're involved in an accident, Garmin's Incident Detection feature uses a built-in G-Sensor to detect hard braking or a collision, and then saves vital video files for a complete record of the event. Built-in GPS geo-tags your files with latitude, longitude, date, time, speed, and direction of travel in order to provide a more complete presentation.
This fully automated camera starts recording once the engine is turned on and stops when the engine is turned off. However, using Garmin's optional hardwire powering kit (not included), this camera will wake when its built-in motion sensor is triggered on your parked vehicle to record what's in front of it — a great theft deterrent.
Multiple camera system
If you own multiple Garmin dash cameras, they can be paired to your smartphone through the Garmin Drive app. Use this cool feature to install multiple cameras in the same vehicle, or to connect to dash cameras from multiple vehicles to the same phone. Garmin lets you create composite picture-in-picture videos from simultaneous recordings.

More details on the Garmin Dash Cam Mini
Overview: The Garmin Dash Cam Mini is a tiny stand-alone dash camera with a wide-angle 140° lens that records full HD video of the road ahead as you drive. The camera mounts to your windshield with the supplied adhesive mount. It records video and audio onto a microSD card (a 16 GB card included). As it records, the time and date and location data are embedded into the video so you'll know exactly when and where a captured event occurred.
GPS: Built-in Garmin GPS technology provides an accurate record of your location, should an event take place. The unit will embed location information into the recordings as you drive. Should an accident or incident occur, the captured footage will include the exact location (latitude and longitude), direction of travel, speed, date, and time the event took place.
Recording: The Dash Cam Mini records in a continuous loop onto an inserted microSD card. It records both audio and video as you drive, or video only (if desired). As long as the Dash Cam is receiving power, it is recording. As the available memory runs out, it starts recording over the oldest recordings. You can manually save a video recording or take a still photo by pressing a button on the back panel.
Resolution: The Dash Cam Mini records 1080p high definition video at 30 frames per second onto the microSD card.
No Display: The Dash Cam Mini has no LCD screen. Videos and photos can be viewed on your smartphone through the Garmin Drive app. The Camera Setup procedure displays a live video feed to allow you to adjust the position of the camera. You cannot view live video while recording.
Lens: The Dash Cam has a 140° wide angle lens that gives you a full view of the road, including most cross traffic.
Microphone: An integrated microphone records audio inside the vehicle. If desired, the microphone can be turned off so the unit records only video.
Power Cables: The Dash Cam Mini comes with two power cables, allowing you to install the camera in a number of ways. The longer cable (13.25 feet) can be used for a more permanent installation, feeding the cable up and around the windshield, and tucked out of sight behind the vehicle trim. The shorter cable can be used for temporary installations, especially if you transfer the camera from one vehicle to another.
Note: The camera does not have an internal battery for portable recording.
Record While Parked: If you want to record video while the vehicle is parked, you will need the optional Parking Mode Cable. With the cable connected, you can power the camera when the vehicle is parked and turned off. In the menu, you can set the amount of time the camera remains active while parked. A motion sensor in the camera activates recording each time motion is detected.
microSD Card: The Dash Cam Mini records video and audio onto a microSD card. The camera is compatible with microSD cards 8 GB or greater. Class 10 speed rated cards, or higher, are required. A 16 GB microSD card is included with the camera.
Automatic Incident Detection: The Dash Cam has a built-in G-sensor, which can detect when a collision or hard braking occurs. When the G-sensor detects an incident, the previous, current, and next recordings are automatically saved. This way, a complete record of the moments before, during, and after the event is preserved.
Smartphone Pairing: You can pair your Dash Cam with your smartphone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and use the Garmin Drive app to change camera settings, set up a multi-camera network, and view, edit, and save photos and videos. When viewing videos or photos, the Dash Cam stops recording, and alerts are disabled. Both saved and unsaved videos and photos can be viewed on your smartphone. You can trim the length of your videos to remove unwanted footage before you export it to your smartphone.
Multiple Camera Network: Multiple dash cameras can be paired to your smartphone through the Garmin Drive app. This allows you to install multiple cameras in the same vehicle, or connect to dash cameras from multiple vehicles to the same phone. You can create composite picture-in-picture videos from simultaneous recordings. If one of the cameras in the network was GPS-connected, you can add location information to the saved videos on all of the cameras in the network.
Installation: The Dash Cam Mini is designed to be mounted on your windshield using the included adhesive mount. The adhesive mount is approximately 1" in diameter, however, it is designed for long term installations. The camera attaches to the adhesive disk via a ball-and-socket joint, allowing it to be easily removed. Two adhesive mounts are included, allowing you to move the camera from one vehicle to another. The camera should always be mounted in an upright orientation, otherwise the resulting video will be upside down or sideways. If connected to an ignition-switch powered outlet, the Dash Cam will turn on and off automatically as you turn the ignition on and off. An optional Parking Mode Cable allows you to hardwire the camera to the vehicle's power and ground circuits.
Viewing Videos and Photos: You can view recorded video and still image files on the your smartphone. You can remove the microSD card and view the files using a card reader on your computer. When viewing the footage on your computer, you'll have a record of the date and time. Videos and still images are stored in several folders:
- 100EVENT: videos saved automatically when the unit detects an incident
- 101PHOTO: still photos
- 102SAVED: manually saved videos
- 103PARKM: videos saved while parked
- 104UNSVD: Unsaved video footage; when storage space is full, the oldest unsaved video is overwritten
