Does what its supposed to do
Crutchfield customer from Paso Robles, CA on 1/9/2021
Pretty straight forward. Works just like it's supposed to. May have to extend the power/acc/ground to suit your set up as the block for the resistor is kinda large.

Technical review of Garmin Park Cable, tested with Dash Cam 55
Hooman from Las Vegas, NV on 4/23/2020
Recording starts about 9 sec BEFORE first detected motion, stops about 20 sec after last detected motion. AFAIK, Garmin is only brand which starts recording BEFORE motion is detected. Park Cable is more efficient than original cable, reducing load from 240mA to 220mA in DRIVE mode. PARK mode reduces load further, from around 220mA to 194mA (Both values are with display off). Current draw is the same when recording, or waiting for motion. Dash Cam can be set to record for 2, 4, 8, 12, or 24 hours after ignition is turned off, or it can be set to record continuously. In PARK mode only, system will shut down if battery voltage drops below 11.7V. This protects battery from damage. There is a jumper in the box which allows selecting other shut down voltages: 12.0V, 12.3V, and three voltages around 24V. Note that Cam will not start recording if just the BATT wire is connected. The ACC wire needs to be connected, to start the Cam up in DRIVE mode, and then disconnected, to get the Cam in to PARK mode. It is not possible to power up directly in to PARK mode. This is of no concern to most people, who will use the Cam in a standard way. But, for the highly technically inclined, who may wish to use a Cam in PARK mode only, just by plugging in to a cigarette socket (single connection): Add three components across wires coming from engine: 20k across red & black wires, 220uF 16V across red & yellow wires with -ve terminal going to red, 1A 40V diode from bla
Pros: A very flexible solution for parked recordings. Recording starts about 9 sec BEFORE motion is detected! Battery is protected from excessive drain.
Cons: Garmin claims older parked recordings will not be written over by newers ones, though this does not appear to be the case (which is a good thing, since more recent recordings are always of greater value than older ones).

Highly convenient. I had no issues installing this myself. This allows my Garmin Dash Cam 55 record while parked, and I get to keep my phone charging port.
Pros: Parking Mode recording. Keep your charging socket open for you phone.

Crutchfield customer from Kingman, AZ on 1/23/2018
just enough wiring for my jeep wrangler....a bigger vehicle might be short on wiring????? like the 90 degree angle on the end going into the cam...looks better and easy to route away from cam...now this plug for this dash cam is not taking up my only oem power plug!
Pros: neat ...out of sight forever
Cons: just enough wires for average car ...bigger truck etc may be short?

Works as intended. If you are not use to doing this type of work you may need to watch a few videos. There are no instructions on how to install the device. Consider purchasing fuse taps to help with the install.
Pros: Hard wire into fuse box, clean install
Cons: No instructions

Garmin Parking Mode Cable
Mark from Torrance, CA on 6/30/2017
easy install, just order some mini fust tap adapters, they just crimp to the 2 wires, use a continuity checker to find a 12volt always hot location and a 12v accessory while key is in on position location in the fuse box. just plug these taps in and there is one ground wire that you can use a taping screw if you dont have a ground location. Wires was easy to route to headboard and through piller to fuse box to make it look like a pro install. hardwired, freeing up cig lighter for other things like usb chargers is a plus. Parking mode allows the unit to turn on and take a short video or snapshots when it detects movement. So overall, anyone with a garmin dash cam 45-65 should get this just to hard wire it.
Pros: good length - was plenty long to wire to center top of my windshield on a larger suv.
Cons: would have been nice if it came with fuse box taps already installed, but really no cons
