About the Garmin dēzlCam™ OTR 710

Truck-friendly guidance...
Truck-friendly guidance...
When you're living the over-the-road life, you know how important accurate information and smart planning are. Garmin's dēzlCam OTR710 GPS navigator for truckers puts the info you need right in front of you and provides the planning tools that'll keep you on schedule. Add in BirdsEye satellite imagery that activates when you reach your destination, a comprehensive route planner, voice commands, driver assistance, points of interest for 18-wheelers, built-in Wi-Fi®, and custom truck settings, and you've got a serious tool to help you in your journeys.
...and a handy dash cam
Thanks to an integrated HD video camera, you'll have a continuous video record of everything that happens on the road before you. Garmin incorporates a G-sensor to automatically save vital footage in the event of a collision, and optional GPS tagging stamps the video with your location, speed, date and time for the most accurate presentation possible. You can easily remove the dēzlCam OTR710 from its magnetic mount so you can take high-res photos of any damage done. Garmin includes a 16 GB microSD™ card, but the dēzlCam OTR710 accepts up to a 256 GB microSD card for big-time storage.
The Garmin dēzl smartphone app (more on that below) also lets you view your camera footage right on your phone, so you can see what happened without having to access the OTR710. It also provides access to Garmin's secure digital Vault, which stores your footage in the cloud so you can access them days or weeks down the road if needed. Many of the dēzl app's features are free of charge, but Garmin's Vault service requires a monthly subscription fee.

See it all on a 7" screen
The sharp 7" pinch-to-zoom display gives you easy access to preloaded maps of the U.S., Canada, and much of Mexico, plus Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. BirdsEye Satellite Imagery shows high-resolution aerial views of your destination, including loading docks, truck entrances, and security gates, guaranteeing a smooth arrival. You'll also have 3-D representations of buildings, landmarks, and terrain to help you get your bearings. Active Lane Guidance shows you colored arrows for the correct lane for an upcoming turn, and you'll see realistic depictions of some interchanges with road signs. You can activate guidance by using your voice — simply speak one of its recognizable commands and it'll get started. Hit the road without using your hands for safer hauling.
Directions for easier driving
Truck-specific points of interest will come in handy when it's time to find a shower, weigh station, or Wi-Fi — you can even add your favorite destinations. dēzlCam offers comprehensive route planning that lets you plan all parts of your journey, including fuel and comfort stops, plus overnight stays. Garmin's database of load-to-dock spots finds loading zones and storage lots nearby to drop off or pick up your load. Garmin even loaded popular routes through and around major cities in the dēzlCam in case you're unfamiliar with your destination.
The Garmin dēzl app provides traffic info and more
Pair the dēzlCam with your smartphone and you can take advantage of all the tools in the free Garmin dēzl app, including:
- Live traffic, weather, and fuel prices
- Video from photoLive traffic cameras
- Smart notifications from your smartphone
- Weigh station bypass notifications (with active PrePass account)
- Trucker-specific workout tutorials (when paired with compatible Garmin smartwatches)
- Truck plaza loyalty programs (when paired with compatible Garmin smartwatches)
Add-ons for a better trucking experience
The dēzlCam works with Garmin's eLog electronic logging device for automated bookkeeping. This Garmin's also compatible with the optional Garmin BC 50 wireless rear-view camera, dēzl trucking headsets, and select Garmin smartwatches.
Stay on track and on time
This Garmin provides upcoming highway info, such as sharp curves, high winds, weight limits, and hazardous materials restrictions. You'll also get a heads-up for steep grades so you can downshift accordingly. If you're in an area with a lower speed limit for trucks, this Garmin will alert you on the screen to help you avoid an unnecessary encounter with the authorities. The navigator also provides mile marker locations, along with border notices five miles before you reach a new state line or a different country.
Your rig, your routing
Road restrictions info enables this navigator to find the perfect route for your truck. You can build a custom profile with height, weight, length, width, and hazmat details, and the navigator will deliver the best, safest route to your destination on most roadways in the contiguous 48 states and Canada. If you're in a hurry, Garmin includes standard trailer sizes which allow you to change your vehicle profile with the push of a button. And you can plan trips with multiple stops and save routes for future reference with ease.
Built-in Bluetooth®
Built-in Bluetooth connectivity allows you to conduct calls hands-free with your compatible phone. Most points of interest in Garmin's database include phone numbers, so you can call ahead with one tap of the screen to make reservations at hotels or check parking availability at truck stops. The dēzlCam can also show you incoming text messages and notifications on its screen.
TruckDown Directory
The dēzlCam includes a preloaded TruckDown Directory so you can find a truck repair shop nearby in case of rig trouble. It even provides 24-hour road service listings for late-night truck emergencies. You can track your service history, HOS (Hours of Service), plus log your mileage by state for IFTA purposes. You can even search for available parking spots at nearby truck stops and rest areas.
Easy updates via Wi-Fi
Nobody wants to hook their navigator up to their computer when it's time to get a map update or other software change. The dēzlCam features built-in Wi-Fi connectivity so you can perform updates from your truck, so long as you're parked near a Wi-Fi hotspot. Or bring your navigator inside a nearby truck stop with a Wi-Fi network and update while you're eating dinner, showering, or sleeping.

Navigation Features
General Features
GPS for Truckers
OTR Navigation: The Garmin dēzlCam™ OTR710 (010-02727-00) was designed by truckers for truckers, with features that are tailored to the OTR (Over-The-Road) trucking industry. The unit is equipped with a compact 6.95" high-resolution display, and a front-facing dash camera for recording your drive. The dēzlCam OTR710 is compatible with the Garmin eLog Compliant ELD (electronic logging device) which automatically tracks and records your HOS (hours of service).
Custom Truck Profiles: When setting up the device, you will enter data about the rig you're driving (such as width, overall length, height, gross weight, maximum weight per axle, and number of trailers) or what you're hauling (hazardous materials like explosives, compressed gases, flammable liquids or solids, corrosives, etc.). Multiple truck profiles can be stored in the memory. When you're not driving your rig, you can select a "car" profile, which does not include most of the truck-related features.
Driver Awareness Features: The device has visual and audible features that help increase your awareness of upcoming hazards or situations to help you drive safely. The built-in dash camera helps to warn you when it detects a potential forward collision or when you may be crossing a lane boundary. Other features and alerts include school zones, speed limit changes, speed limit exceeded, wrong way/one way streets, railroad crossings, curves, steep hills, grounding risks, lateral winds, prohibited areas, and break planning.
Truck Speed Limits: Trucking speed limits appear on the screen if they are lower than the posted automotive speed limit. The device sounds a tone and displays a warning when the posted speed limit is exceeded, or if there are upcoming speed limit reductions.
Truck-specific POIs: The dēzlCam OTR710 offers numerous points-of-interest that are specifically geared toward truckers, such as truck stops, lodging, weigh stations, parking, and rest areas. You can search and filter truck stops by brand name or for specific amenities, such as showers, scales, Wi-Fi, and truck washes. The unit also includes a directory from Truckdown with over 30,000 truck repair and service locations in the United States and Canada, including those offering after-hours road service.
Completing a Route: As you approach your destination, the dēzlCam OTR710 provides truck-specific prompts to help you complete your route. Parking areas near your destination are automatically suggested. The device also helps you find a truck destination, such as a loading dock. These prompts only appear when you navigate using a truck vehicle profile.
Exit Services: The Exit Services function lets you search roadway exits for truck stops, food, lodging, rest areas, and weigh stations so you are never left guessing what is around the bend.
PrePass: The PrePass app enables drivers to verify the safety, credentials, and weight of a commercial vehicle with upcoming weigh stations and bypass decisions. You can pair the dēzlCam OTR710 with the Garmin dēzl app and the PrePass app to receive upcoming weigh station notifications on the dēzlCam device. Before you can use this feature, you must have an active PrePass account.
IFTA Logging: You can record and archive data needed for International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) documentation, such as fuel-purchase data and miles driven.
eLogging: The dēzlCam OTR710, on its own, cannot be used as a substitute for logging requirements under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). With the optional Garmin eLog compliant Electronic Logging Device (ELD), you can comply with Hours of Service logging and break requirements. The device notifies you one hour before your suggested break times and drive hour limits, and suggests locations to take your break. You can also keep track of your working hours.
Service History: As you service and make repairs to your rig, you can keep track of the details. Each time you perform a service, the mileage can be entered into the device. Maintenance and repair examples include: Air Conditioner repair, Battery change, Brake Pads change, Engine Oil change, Fuel Vent change, Heater repair, Power Steering Fluid change, Radiator Fluid change, Rear Differential Fluid change, Tire change, Tire rotation, and Transmission Fluid change.
Jurisdiction Summary: The jurisdiction summary lists data for each state or province in which your vehicle has operated during each quarter. The jurisdiction summary is only available in some areas.
Trip Reports: You can conveniently export all the device's trucking logs for improved reporting and tracking of each trip. The unit's trucking logs can be stored on the unit's internal memory or external microSD card (sold separately).
Optional Backup Camera: You can add an optional Garmin wireless backup camera, such as the BC™50, or BC™50 with Night Vision, allowing you to have a rear view of your rig while backing up. You can also connect the camera to a continuous power source for full time camera views whenever you want.
Dash Camera
Built-in Dash Cam: The dēzlCam OTR710 has a built-in dash camera that faces toward the highway as you drive. It has a 140° wide-angle lens to give you a view of the entire highway. You can manually tilt the unit on the windshield mount and pan the lens left or right to center the image on the screen.
Recording: By default, the unit will automatically record continuous 1080p/30fps High Definition video when it powers up. It has a built-in G-sensor that will detect when your rig is involved in a collision and automatically save the footage upon impact. GPS data shows the precise location and time the events occurred. You can also save footage manually, if needed. The dēzlCam OTR710 can be easily removed from its windshield mount so you can take still photos. Photos are saved to the memory card with embedded time and location data.
microSD Card Slot: The unit has a dedicated slot for a microSD card for saving dash cam video. It will accept microSD cards up to 256 GB, with a Speed Class of 10 or higher. A Class 10, 16 GB microSD card is included.
Note: Another microSD card slot is provided for optional map data cards.
Gallery: The recorded videos and still images are stored in the Gallery, and can be viewed on the unit's 6.95" display. If location data is included in the video or photo, a map will indicate the location. You can delete unwanted videos and photos from the Gallery. The Dash Cam will not record while you are viewing videos or photos.
Vault Storage: Your recorded video clips and photos are stored in a secure online Vault for 24 hours from the time of the upload. For extended storage, you can subcribe to paid Vault storage plans. A Standard Vault storage plan ($4.99/month) stores your videos for up to 7 days, while an Advanced plan ($9.99/month) extends the storage duration to 30 days. Vault Subscription Plans can be activated in the dēzl app.
Camera Settings: You can configure the camera in the menu to perform specific functions:
- Camera Placement: For proper alignment, you can set the vehicle height and camera position (left, right, or center of dash).
- Record on Startup: The dash camera starts recording video automatically when you power up the device.
- Automatic Incident Detection: When activated, the unit will automatically save video when an incident is detected. The sensitivity of the G-sensor can be set in the menu.
- Record Audio: You can choose to record audio with the video, or video only.
- Data Overlay: Driving details can be added to the recorded video. You can choose to include date, time, location, and speed.
- Video Resolution: You can choose the quality and resolution of the recorded video. Higher resolution (1920 x 1080) provides the best picture but takes up more memory, while medium resolution (1280 x 720) saves memory space, but produces a lower quality image.
Navigation Features
Built-in GPS Antenna: The unit has a built-in antenna in its top panel. In order to obtain an optimal signal, the unit must have a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. If the unit is mounted in a truck with a coated windshield or an in-screen heating system, there may be difficulty in obtaining a good signal.
Pre-loaded HERE Maps: The dēzlCam OTR710 comes with HERE's City Navigator street maps for the entire United States (including Alaska & Hawaii), Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, and Bahamas. The maps features millions of points of interest (POIs), such as hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs and attractions.
3rd Party POIs: Many of the points of interest feature traveler ratings and information from TripAdvisor® and Foursquare®. Content from these third party services help you find hotels, restaurants, attractions, and other locations of interest so you can make an informed choice, and navigate to your chosen location.
Free Lifetime Map Updates: The dēzlCam OTR710 offers free lifetime map updates (of the preloaded map software) so you'll always have the most up-to-date maps, POIs, and navigation information. Map updates are available for download up to 4 times a year with no subscription or update fees and no expiration dates. Map and software updates can be performed by connecting your device to a Wi-Fi network for a direct update, or connect it to your computer and update it through the Garmin Express application.
Garmin dēzl App: The Garmin dēzl smartphone app is a valuable companion to your dēzlCam OTR710. The app provides access to live traffic updates, and can help you find timesaving detours around trouble spots. Current weather conditions and detailed forecasts can help you plan your trip. You'll receive PrePass notifications of upcoming weigh stations and bypass decisions (active PrePass account required). The app also lets you view photoLive traffic cameras where available to let you see traffic conditions along your route. For help in planning your arrival to a loading dock or truck entrance, the dēzl app can also download BirdsEye satellite imagery. The Garmin dēzl app is available from Google Play for Android phones running version 6.0 and up, and from the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPads running iOS 14.0 or later.
Active Lane Guidance: As you approach complex interchanges, the Active Lane Guidance feature indicates with voice prompts and brightly colored arrows the proper lane needed for your route. You can also view the interchange in detail with Junction View, when available, showing the information from the actual junction signs.
Where Am I?: The "Where Am I?" feature gives you instant access to important information in case of an emergency. When you select "Where Am I?" from the menu, you get the coordinates (including elevation) of your current position, plus the nearest address and intersections. There are also buttons to help you locate the nearest hospitals, police stations, gas stations, and roadside assistance. You can also save the location for future reference.
Vehicle Profiles: The dēzlCam OTR710 offers four Vehicle Profiles for calculating your navigation route. You can select Car, Straight Truck, Tractor Trailer, or Bus, and the device will calculate your route depending upon the type of vehicle you're driving, taking into account vehicle weight and size restrictions.
General Features
Touchscreen Display: The unit is equipped with a compact 6.95" (diagonal), super wide view ISP, color TFT on-cell capacitive touch panel with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.
Memory: The dēzlCam OTR710 has a built-in 16 GB memory, plus a microSD card slot for external memory. The device is compatible with microSD memory cards from 4 to 256 GB. Memory cards should be formatted using the FAT32 file system, and cards greater than 32GB must be formatted using the device.
Voice Command: You can use your voice to activate and operate the dēzlCam OTR710. Voice Command allows you to use the device by speaking words and commands and following the voice prompts. After speaking a predetermined Wakeup Phrase ("OK, Garmin), you can enter the names and/or address of popular, well-known locations. If necessary, you can disable voice prompts without muting the device, so you'll still hear the audible directions as you travel.
Wi-Fi Compatible: You can keep the device updated with the latest maps and software without connecting it to a computer. When connected to a Wi-Fi network, the device checks for available updates, and displays an icon on the screen. The connected network is added to the list of saved networks, and will reconnect automatically when it is within range.
Garmin Express: You can connect the unit to your computer with the supplied USB cable for downloading map updates, custom POIs, voices, and vehicles. You will need to download the Garmin Express software to update your maps and register the unit. Garmin Express requires Windows 7 SP1 or newer or Mac OS X 10.11 or later. The app may require up to 20 GB of free disk space.
Bluetooth Technology: The Garmin dēzlCam OTR710 has built-in Bluetooth technology. This allows you to sync the unit with a Bluetooth-enabled device for hands-free calling through its integrated microphone and speaker. You can make and receive phone calls as long as the devices are within 33 feet and paired. You can also receive smart notifications via the Garmin dēzlCam app.
Indoor Use: When indoors, you can activate the built-in simulator and practice using the unit. This turns off the GPS receiver so it is not searching for satellites.
Windshield Mount: The unit comes with a windshield mount with a suction cup that holds the unit securely in place. An opening in the mount is provided for the rear-mounted dash camera lens. Because of the lens, Garmin's optional mounts are not compatible.
Power Source: The Garmin dēzlCam OTR710 operates on a 12-volt power source, and includes a DC power adapter to charge the built-in Lithium-Ion battery. The battery provides up to 30 minutes of use when fully charged and unplugged from the power supply.
