Smart training made easy

When you're looking for the most convenient smart trainer, an on-wheel model like the Garmin Tacx Flow is the easiest way to go. Set it up, lock in your bike and you're ready to go — no need to remove your rear wheel and mess with greasy chains. And, if you're budget-conscious, the Tacx Flow provides a satisfying experience that's significantly less expensive than more advanced trainers.

Consistent and reliable

The Flow packs a lot of performance into a compact trainer. The compact internal flywheel can replicate the mass inertia of a larger wheel, providing a smooth and responsive feel to your ride. The trainer folds up compactly so it's easy to transport — perfect for taking to a group trainer workout or for warming up before the local crit. You can rev Garmin Tacx Flow to a maximum 800 watts of power — plenty for a power or sprint session — while it can replicate a max incline of 6% for when you want to tackle some climbs.

Connect and ride

This smart trainer supports Bluetooth and ANT+, allowing connection to an array of compatible smartphones, tablets, laptops, bike computers, and sports watches. When you're ready to hit the virtual road, choose from a variety of Tacx workouts and high-quality films and get riding. The Flow outputs power, cadence, and speed data, plus supports virtual training with Zwift, TrainerRoad, and all other popular training apps.

More details on the Garmin Tacx Flow

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Garmin Tacx Flow Smart Trainer is an interactive, wheel-on trainer for use with most training bicycles. It works with many popular third-party training apps, including Zwift, Trainer Road, and Garmin Tacx. The trainer provides a smooth ride and feel, with realistic simulated inclines up to a 6% gradient. The Flow Smart Trainer comes with a free 30-day subscription to Garmin Tacx Premium software.

Compatibility: The Flow is suitable for use with race, triathlon, and mountain bikes with 29" wheels. The trainer works with rear forks of 130mm (Racing Bikes) or 135mm (Mountain Bikes). A 5mm quick release for road bikes and mountain bikes is included with the Flow Trainer, as well as the Skyliner front wheel support for better balance and stability.

Tacx Training Tyres: An optional Tacx Training Tyre is recommended for a smoother, quieter ride, and to prevent excessive wear on your rear tire. Training Tyres are only recommended for indoor training. Sizes available include:

Smart Trainer: The Flow Smart Trainer features Bluetooth Smart technology and ANT+ fitness equipment control to connect to your smartphone or tablet running your favorite training apps. It works with Garmin Tacx software, or other third party training apps such as Zwift and TrainerRoad. The fitness apps running on your devices can control the Flow to simulate courses with flat runs and inclines up to 6%. You can also use the trainer in stand-alone mode, or "unconnected." The trainer accurately (within 5%) outputs your speed, cadence, and power data to your smartphone, tablet, or Garmin Edge bike computer or sports watch. With the optional Garmin Tacx ANT+ Antenna (sold separately), you can send the data directly to your computer via USB.

Construction: The Garmin Tacx Flow is a solid training with a 3.5 pound flywheel with 6 magnets, and an overall weight of 20.7 pounds. The roller is made from two materials: a hardened steel sleeve with a soft core of elastogel. The steel sleeve prevents wear of the trainer, while the elastogel absorbs vibrations to reduce noise. When the resistance unit is functioning properly, its LED is flashing green. It has a footprint of 26-1/4" x 21-3/8" and stands 15-11/16" high. The Flow features folding legs for storage.

Assembly: The Smart Trainer comes in two main pieces, leg/frame assembly and resistance unit, and requires assembly. Your bike is mounted to the trainer frame with dual locks for added security and stability. All of the needed hardware is included in the box. The Flow is powered by standard household current (110-240V), and comes with a 6' AC power cord.
