More details on the Garmin GC12
Overview: The Garmin GC 12 is a compact dome marine camera to help you monitor areas inside and outside of your boat. The camera features a rugged metal case with an IPX7 waterproof rating, allowing you to place the camera in damp locations on the vessel. The analog camera connects to your compatible chartplotter via composite video cable (not included). Images from the camera can be viewed on a compatible Garmin chartplotter, or across several networked chartplotters.
Camera Highlights: The GC 12 has a 1/3" Sony 960H Double Scan Super HAD CCD II image sensor with a resolution of 976 (H) x 582 (V). It outputs a PAL-compatible signal (625 lines; 2:1 interlaced). The lens features a wide viewing angle of 69° horizontal, 52° vertical, and 95° diagonal. The image can be set to normal or reverse on compatible chartplotters to help you back out of tight spaces in a crowded marina. The camera's built-in IR LEDs give it excellent low light performance out to 33 feet, making it ideal for dark engine rooms. Other specifications include:
- Operating Temperature: +14°F to +122° (-10°C to +50°C)
- Input Voltage: 9V to 18V
- Operating Current: 80mA (IR off); 170mA (IR on)
- Compass Safe Distance: 6.125"
- Video Output: CVBS PAL
- Dimensions: Width 1.988", Height 1.75"
- Weight: 5.3 ounces
Installation: On a compatible Garmin chartplotter, the GC 12's image can be rotated 90°, 180°, or 270°, which allows you to mount the camera in any orientation. The camera is secured to the base via two set screws. You can remove the base, using the supplied 2mm Allen wrench, and mount the base to a flat surface. The camera can also be aimed prior to re-tightening the camera to the base. A composite video cable (with BNC connectors) must be run to the chartplotter, or to an optional Network Encoder. The power cable must be connected to the battery through a 1A fuse or circuit breaker.
