Product Research

Features

Overview: The Garmin Charge™ Power Pack is a 3100mAh external Lithium-ion battery pack that plugs directly into select Edge® cycling computers to significantly extend the battery life up to 24 hours. It comes with a universal battery charger, plus a mount adapter to fit the battery pack into the Flush Out-Front Bike Mount (included with some Edge devices, optional for others). The Charge Power Pack weighs 4.7 ounces, and has an IPX7 water rating (withstands exposure of water up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes).

Compatible Devices: The Charge Power Pack is compatible with the following Edge bike computers and Forerunner® wearable devices:

  • Edge: Edge 1000, Edge 1030, Edge 1030 Plus, Edge 520, Edge 520 Plus, Edge 530, Edge 820, Edge 830, Edge Explore, Edge Explore 820
  • Forerunner: Forerunner 645, Forerunner 645 Music, Forerunner 935, Forerunner 945

Connections: The battery pack has two USB ports on the bottom, under a weatherproof flap. The Micro-B USB port is the Charging Input, and accepts the plug from the included AC Adapter. The battery pack accepts a 5V to 5.5V, 2A input for charging. The device's Type A USB port is an output for charging your Edge or Forerunner devices, with an output of 5.07V and up to 2.4A. Some Edge bike computers have charging contacts on the bottom that can directly connect to the 5 raised electrical contacts on the top of the Charge Power Pack (5.07V, up to 1A).

Charging Devices: The Charge Power Pack has raised contact points that allow you to install the battery on the bottom of the Out-Front Bike Mount. The included Lever Adapter must replace the Quarter-Turn Adapter of the Out-Front mount before you can install the power pack. Once the Lever Adapter is installed, the compatible Edge device will be powered directly by the battery pack when it's mounted in the Out-Front Mount. The lever rotates to the closed position to lock the Edge device into the mount. If your Edge device does not have contact points, you will need to connect the device's USB cable to the battery pack.

Charging the Power Pack: The power pack comes with an AC adapter to charge the battery. The adapter includes 4 international AC plug adapters, including U.S. (North America) 2-prong, Euro (2-prong), United Kingdom (3-prong, and Australia (2-prong). Charging a fully depleted battery pack takes approximately 4 hours using the included AC adapter. Using a third-party USB charging device may likely take longer.

Status LEDs: The Charge Power Pack has four status LEDs that shows you at a glance the charging level of the battery pack. Each LED represents 25% battery charge level. When the one remaining LED is flashing, the battery has less than 5% charge left. All four LEDs flash during charging, and glow solid when charging is complete.
