Garmin RV 770LMT portable RV navigator

A gorgeous 6.95" display leads the way

This Garmin's high-resolution 6.95" edge-to-edge touchscreen display with multi-touch control gives you easy access to preloaded maps of the U.S., Canada, and much of Mexico. It's big enough to allow flexibility about where you can mount it on your dash or console and still see the maps. RV-specific points of interest will come in handy when it's time to find Wi-Fi or on-site laundry — you can even add your own favorite destinations. And with one tap of the screen, Garmin's Up Ahead feature pulls up details for services that lie ahead on your route, including restaurants, gas stations, and more. You also get up to four free map updates per year to keep you current on road changes.

RV-friendly routing

Road restrictions info enables this navigator to find the perfect route for your RV. You can build a custom profile with your RV's height, weight, length, width, and trailer details, and the navigator will deliver the best, safest route to your destination on most roadways in the contiguous 48 states and Canada. If you're in a hurry, Garmin includes standard RV sizes which allow you to change your vehicle profile with the push of button. And you can plan trips with multiple stops and save routes for future reference with ease.

The RV 770 LMT's elevation map tool gives you info on elevation along your route while viewing the map screen. You can tap the screen for more detail about potential steep grades before you hit a hill your RV might not be ready for.

RV Parks & Services directory

The RV 770 LMT includes a database from America's RV Parks & Services Directory, giving you instant access to nearly 20,000 sites in the U.S. and Canada. You'll be able to find RV parks and campgrounds quickly, and you can narrow your search by type of amenities desired, including pet-friendly, on-site laundry, electric hookups, Wi-Fi, and more.

Warnings about hazards up ahead

Worried about possible dangerous road conditions? The RV 770 LMT provides upcoming highway info, such as sharp curves, high winds, and weight limits. You'll also get local info like bridge heights and animal or railroad crossings. If you're in an area with one-way streets or school zones, you'll get a heads-up about paying attention to the speed limit or if you're driving the wrong direction. The navigator also provides mile marker locations, along with border notices five miles before you reach a new state line or the border to a different country.

Smartphone compatibility

You can pair the RV 770 LMT with your iPhone® or Android™ smartphone to take advantage of Garmin's Smartphone Link app, which allows the two devices to share information, such as live traffic information, saved and recently found locations, where you parked, and your current destination. You can also subscribe to dynamic services from Garmin for more road-friendly content like weather reports, road conditions, and fuel prices for an additional fee.

Stay ahead of traffic troubles

Garmin Traffic updates come courtesy the Smartphone Link app, giving you a comprehensive view of congestion along your route and how long potential delays might be. It'll even suggest alternate routes to get you to your destination faster. And you won't have to pay a penny more for this service over the life of your navigator.

Points of interest via Foursquare® and TripAdvisor®

This Garmin comes with crowd-sourced points of interest from TripAdvisor and Foursquare, giving you user-verified info for millions of stops along America's roadways. You'll find the most relevant and popular hotels, restaurants, and roadside attractions within seconds, many with TripAdvisor ratings. If you've got your navigator paired with Garmin's Smartphone Link, you'll also see helpful Foursquare info such as ratings, hours, and price range displayed on the RV 770 LMT's screen.

Add an excursion with ease

If you've spent a little too long in the wilderness, you might want to take a quick detour through the nearest town to drive on actual asphalt for a change. Rather than entering a new destination, simply use Garmin's Easy Route Shaping feature to add a point to your route onscreen by touching the map, and the RV 770 LMT will tell you how much time the side trip will add to your overall journey before you embark.

Use your voice

You can activate the RV 770 LMT's guidance by using your voice — simply speak one of its recognizable commands and it'll get started. Hit the road without using your hands for safer exploring.

Hearing is believing

The RV 770 LMT's powerful built-in speaker overcomes engine noise so you can hear about upcoming maneuvers. The navigator offers Garmin Real Directions with Garmin Real Voice, a combination that helps keep you relaxed as you drive. Real Directions voice prompts speak the instructions to you like a friend would, using easy-to-see landmarks, buildings and businesses, and traffic lights, rather than streets with tiny signs that you might not see in time. With Real Voice technology, you'll hear directions spoken in a personable, human-sounding voice that you'll comprehend readily.

Stay on the right route

Garmin also incorporates several other helpful visual tools to keep you on the correct path:

  • Active Lane Guidance shows you colored arrows for the correct lane for an upcoming turn.
  • Bird's Eye junction view gives you a detailed look at complicated interchanges from above, to give you a better perspective.
  • photoReal junction view displays realistic images of intersections, including signs and surrounding terrain, along with colored arrows for the correct lane.

You'll see all three visual features in a split-screen with your overall route so you won't lose sight of what's further down the road. This Garmin's also compatible with the optional Garmin BC 30 wireless rear-view camera, so you can add an extra layer of safety when you're backing up.

Convenient Bluetooth® compatibility

The Garmin's built-in Bluetooth connectivity allows you to conduct phone calls hands-free with your compatible phone. You can keep in touch with friends and family without diverting your attention from the road ahead. Most points of interest in Garmin's database include the phone numbers, so you can call ahead to make reservations at restaurants or check availability at nearby campgrounds.

Plan your adventures

No more wasting gas as you sit there typing in your RV — you can use Garmin's BaseCamp online tool to map out your next journey ahead of time, then upload the finished route to the RV 770 LMT before you hit the road. You can mark waypoints and tracks for off-road fun whether you're into hiking, biking, fishing, or just exploring the scenery. You can also share the results of your travels with Garmin Adventures, a free way to swap GPS details with other explorers online. You can create timelines with photos and videos for your trips, and even find new paths to undertake.

Built-in Wi-Fi for hassle-free updates

Nobody wants to hook their navigator up to their computer when it's time to get a map update or other software change. The RV 770 LMT features built-in Wi-Fi connectivity so you can perform updates from your vehicle, so long as you're connected to a Wi-Fi signal or a public hotspot that doesn't require a web browser sign-in.

So far I like what I have seen and I am still learning how to use the different features. Haven't used it yet in the Motorhome . I am using it in the car mode. Enjoying navigating around the state. Two more weeks then in the Motorhome.

Had it about a month, and obviousIy I'm still learning how to use it. I like it a lot. I had a Magellan unit before which allowed me to screen for nearby State and County Parks with camping facilities. Further, it rated the facilities and gave me price information which was useful, and usually correct. If my new Garmin has such a feature I have not yet found it. That's my only complaint so far, when it comes to that information I have to rely on my "ALLSTAYS" App. The Battery life of the RV 770 is Great(compared to the Magellan), and its reception is better as well. The platform is very stable, and downloading updated information without hooking up to a computer is much more convenient. It's voice recognition feature is VERY useful when driving alone, and I would say it's better than my iPhone 6 at understanding what I'm saying. I give it 4 1/2 Stars so far.

We ordered this GPS as a gift for our new-to-RVing parents. It arrived incredibly fast, well packaged, and we're eager to see their reaction on Christmas. We researched many camper-friendly GPS units before deciding this one is the best.

Pros: Fast shipping, excellent price (on sale), best reviews

Cons: None

Couldn't ask for a better RV GPS. Standard auto GPS units can't compare. Does everything I need it to do. On first trip it helped us to avoid 2 low bridges. I Recommend this to all RVers.

Pros: Big bright screen, excellent options

Great for RV's

Crutchfield customer from Chattanooga, TN on 10/18/2018

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Ahead of a 4,800 mile trip out west, I decided to spring for this model because of the mapping features specific to RV usage as well as its ability to incorporate the Garmin backup camera. After 84+ hours of driving time, I became familiar with most of its features. However, there are still many features I've not used yet. Overall, I'm pleased with this unit and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good gps designed for rv users.

Pros: Easy to use Easy to see Automatic night/day color schemes Voice activated operation Lifetime map updates Backup camera compatible Keeps a great deal of interesting statistics if you're a numbers guy like me RV-specific guidance based on the vehicle length/weight entered, keeping you from traversing routes inappropriate for heavy or large vehicles.

Cons: Voice command is not quite as intuitive as the iPhone Siri feature so there is some learning involved. For example: "find nearest gas station along route" does not work - you have to walk through your desired function using pre-defined terms - would be better if it would allow a one-step command.

New 770 garmin

Very easy to set up and find the function you want. Speech is clear and directions are given with enough time to make necessary lane changes. The voice command feature is a huge safety factor and makes driving and getting information much safer. Display is bright and easy to see and information is clearly displayed. I have had several other units but this is far superior for ease of operation.

Pros: Voice command Easy screen to see Concise directions

Cons: Could have a better mounting arm for rv

This was designed for, and will be used in our motorhome. Other less specific navigators have no knowledge of the specifications of your RV, and could direct you onto impassable roads. The Lifetime ability to upgrade firmware/software, was a PLUS.

Pros: Dedicated RV unit, with Garmin quality.

Cons: Mildly over-priced.

Navigation Features

Garmin Real Directions/Garmin Real Voice: The RV 770LMT-S features Garmin Real Directions with easy-to-understand driving directions using recognizable landmarks, buildings, and traffic lights, in addition to spoken street names.

Note: Only those voices marked "Speaks Garmin Real Directions" will speak specific street names.

Voice Command: You can use your voice to activate and operate the RV 770LMT-S. Voice Command allows you to use the device by speaking words and commands and following the voice prompts. After speaking a predetermined Wakeup Phrase, you can enter the names and/or address of popular, well-known locations. If necessary, you can disable voice prompts without muting the device, so you'll still hear the audible directions as you travel.

Smartphone Link: Smartphone Link is a phone application that allows the device to download live data using your phone's data connection, and transferring the data wirelessly via Bluetooth. The free Garmin Smartphone Link app provides access to Garmin Live Services, which includes free and subscription-based plans for viewing traffic data, weather, dynamic parking, and fuel prices. Garmin Smartphone Link is available for iPhone in the App Store and for Android in the Google Play store.

Live Traffic: Live Traffic helps you avoid traffic tie-ups that may delay your travel. Here (formerly NAVTEQ) collects, processes, and distributes real-time traffic conditions. Live Traffic requires the use of a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone loaded with the Garmin Smartphone Link app. Traffic data is refreshed every 60 seconds, with more than 1000 messages received with every update. Updates appear to the side of the map, so your driving map remains onscreen at all times. The updates can give you details about the situation, including the estimated length of the delay. Free Lifetime Live Traffic requires no subscription or activation, and is subject to Terms & Conditions.

Note: Traffic updates are available in approximately 124 markets throughout the U.S. and Canada. Location-relevant pop-up ads and coupons may be received when traffic is enabled on the unit.

Points of Interest: The built-in maps include millions of Points of Interest (POIs) from the vast Foresquare database, such as hotels, restaurants, gas stations, attractions, and ATMs. With the help of TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel site, you can view ratings for many of your destinations.

Active Lane Guidance: Active Lane Guidance with voice prompts lets you know in advance which lane you should to be in to make an upcoming turn. In select metropolitan areas, the RV 770LMT-S will enter split screen mode to display the photoReal junction view, a realistic depiction of the junction, complete with road signs and brightly-colored arrows to indicate the proper lane for navigation. The Bird's Eye view also gives you a top-down view of upcoming interchanges.

Map View Options: You can choose from a 3D map view or two 2D map views (Track Up or North Up) as you navigate to your destination.

Speed Limits: As you travel along a major road or street, the speed limit is displayed on the screen alongside of the vehicle's speed display. If you are exceeding the speed limit, a tone will sound, and the color of the vehicle speed indication will change to red. If the highway's posted speed limit has changed since the last map update, you can change the speed limit display on the unit.

Where Am I?: The "Where Am I?" feature gives you instant access to important information in case of an emergency. When you touch the vehicle icon on the map screen, the "Where Am I?" feature provides the coordinates (including elevation) of your current position, plus the nearest address and intersections. There are also buttons to help you locate the nearest hospitals, police stations, gas stations, and roadside assistance. You can also save the location for future reference.

Up Ahead: As you travel along your route, the Up Ahead feature constantly indicates the location of nearby businesses, including gas, food, lodging, restrooms, parking, and banks and ATMs. The locations are shown as icons, some with brand logos, and when the icons are touched on the screen, details of the services are displayed, and you are given the opportunity to navigate to that address.

Destination Search: When the Where To? button is pressed, you can use the search tools to find your destination and plan your route. The search tools allow you to search for cities, addresses, intersections, or coordinates. The new Search Bar lets you directly enter a category, brand name, address, or city name. The unit's memory stores the last 50 locations you have found so you can quickly find a previous destination.

Garmin Garage: The unit offers your choice of 13 standard icons to represent your vehicle. The online Garmin Garage offers dozens more vehicle icons that you can download for free.

Trip Planner: You can plan your next RV trip using the Trip Planner app on the device. After selecting your starting location, you can add destinations until you trip planning is complete. The unit can automatically optimize the order of the destinations in your trip to create a shorter, more efficient route. Each trip you plan can be saved in memory until you are ready to make the trip again.

Where I've Been/Trip Log: The Where I've Been application allows you to view your previous routes and places you have stopped on the map. In addition, the device keeps a Trip Log, which is a record of the path you have traveled. The Travel History setting must be enabled in order for the Where I've Been and Trip Log features to function.

GPS Simulator: When indoors, you can activate the built-in GPS simulator and practice using the unit. This turns off the GPS receiver so it's not searching for satellites, saving battery power.

Needed a GPS that I could see without turning my head to the on-board GPS. Plus, the maker of my on-board GPS no longer maintains it and the $100 update I bought did not update enough to know that there is a major new bridge near Savannah, so I no longer trust it. the Garmin's lifetime updates cinched the deal for me. We used the iphone app and bluetooth to receive Live Traffic updates on the garmin display. It was easy to set up. I don't know about the FM HD band. Sorry.

I believe it is, however, I think you have to subscribe in order to receive this information. I don't use this function, so your best bet would be to contact Garmin directly.

No, that cable is available at extra cost. I used the one from my prior unit.

I have not used my 770 much so far but basically they are the same except for the enhanced off ramp screen which is very helpful when traveling in areas you are not familiar with. Plus we got the one with campgrounds listed
