Replacement speakers for your 2-ohm factory system

Some cars, like select Toyota vehicles with a premium audio package, use low-impedance speakers to get a little more punch out of the factory radio. If you try to replace these speakers with standard 4-ohm aftermarket speakers, you'll notice a significant loss of volume — never a good thing — while 2-ohm replacement speakers have always been hard to find.

Until now....

These specially designed PowerBass L Series 2-ohm speakers will make the most of your factory power. Install these L2-700 7" midrange speakers, and you'll hear a big improvement in sound quality over your old factory speakers.

Step up to aftermarket quality

Say goodbye to flimsy factory woofers. The L2-700's sturdy yet sensitive polypropylene/carbon fiber woofer and butyl rubber surround delivers satisfying performance while enduring the extreme temperatures of life in your car doors.

Note: PowerBass designed these speakers for use with a 2-ohm factory system. Call an advisor to confirm compatibility with your vehicle.

Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications.

Got these to replace factory 6X9's in door. Had to fab some mounting plates, as expected, otherwise the fit was fine. Got these from the outlet, and couldn't tell from new. Running off the factory head unit, and sound great. Needed 2 ohm, so not a lot of affordable choices.

Pros: 2 ohm, good value for price

Cons: none thus far.

I'm happy with these. They replaced factory 2 ohm, 8" woofers in my 1999 celica (with the 8-speaker system option). I ordered some speaker adapters elsewhere designed for 6.5" speakers and used a heat gun and utility knife to enlarge the adapters for these 7" speakers. Bass sounds punchy and clear. Good price.

Pros: Good sound. Good price.

Fits and sounds great in my 2003 Toyota Sequoia. Works great if you're just wanting to simply replace the blown factory JBL 7" 2 ohm front door speakers.

Good value for the money but many gotchas

Jason from Richardson, TX on 3/16/2019

2016 Mazda 6

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I ordered 4 speakers for my 2016 Mazda 6, along with speaker adapters for the front and rear doors. This is an aftermarket system I built, so I am used to doing custom work. Given the price, these are a good value. They deliver on the midbass (as others have mentioned in reviews). However, I would suggest only to use for midbass duty as the upper midrange is not pleasant. I plan to cross mine over HP @70 and LP @250 or 300; anything higher brings in the shrill midrange. There are no published T/S parameters for these speakers; I emailed Powerbass tech support and they also didn't know - said it would take 3 weeks to get that information from their China factory. So I measured the T/S parameters on the 4 speakers; 1 of the 4 has drastically different resonant frequency and other parameter values and also has blemishes on the cone, so I decided to return one of the 2 boxes. The cut-out diameter given in the template is incorrect; it is not 6-1/8 inches but more like 5-5/8 inches. I also attached some sound deadener to the speaker basket and adapter. Attached pics of PB speaker vs. OEM and parameter measurements of the 4 speakers.

Pros: Value, midbass output, 2 ohm impedance

Cons: Incorrect dimensions on template sheet, speaker inconsistency, ragged frequency response in the higher midrange

2002 sequoia jbl back in action!

Beats from Tucson, AZ on 2/17/2019

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I installed this in a 2002 Toyota Sequoia limited with JBL. Crutchfield was great and even included the harness necessary for plug and play installation for free. After prying the old speaker out carefully (it's got a sealing adhesive around the edges). The powerbass speaker fit in the original spot of the old one fine. However none of the screw holes will line up. I solved this problem with drywall screws and a drill. Drilled in new holes and after doing this there was a slight gap around one edge due to not drilling the holes perfectly. I just got some silicone caulk and seal it up with a nice bead. Re-installed the door panel and I was all done. They sound great (clear and distortion free - some solid lows down to about 50hz - nothing much below there) They sound significantly better once I put in a new head unit (pioneer 1300 nex). The new head unit has customizable eq which is night and day difference from stock head unit.

Pros: Good clear sound, good mid bass. Well designed with rubber surround to Last a long time

Cons: Doesn't line up with sequoia screw holes (not really a con- because no speaker other than oem fits)

Great bass

I put these in the rear doors in my 14 ram 1500 powered by a helix match pp52dsp amplifier/dsp. I needed a 2ohm midbass driver since the rest of the system is set a 2ohm from amp/dsp. These push an amazing amount of midbass from the rear doors. At one point i turned off the subwoofer box for a trip and ran without for 6 mos forgetting box was off because bass was soo good from these 7" powersbass. Put these in any oem system powered on a 2ohm load (with upgraded baffling) and 50 watts p/channel you won't need to worry about a subwoofer.

Pros: 2ohm midbass that won't break the bank

Cons: None

Perfect fit, amazing bass

Installed these in my 2006 Toyota Sequoia front doors to replace the factory JBL woofers that were falling apart. The Crutchfield advisor said that these wouldn't fit, but went right in with only having to use some longer screws and making new mounting holes in the factory bracket. These speakers really sound great and have amazing bass response.

Pros: direct fit, great sound, budget price

Cons: none so far

Factory Toyota 2 ohm replacement speakers!

I was a little surprised at the sound of these speakers! For the money, my expectations were not terribly high but I was very surprised. Install was simple, even though they weren't supposed to fit. I had a 6x9 to 63/4 adapter kit ( I think from a previous order) and they bolted right in. A quick connection of the factory speaker harness and done. The first speaker took about an hour as I was trying not to damage the factory brackets, the second one took less than 15 minutes including removing/reinstalling the door panel. Crutchfield does most things with excellence but missed on the application this time. I have bought the majority of my car stereo components from them and will continue to give them my business. Quality products at reasonable prices and the best customer service in the industry.

Pros: Sound, price, installation

Cons: None to date
