Replacement component speakers for your 2-ohm factory system

Some cars use low-impedance speakers to get a little more punch out of the factory radio. If you try to replace these speakers with standard 4-ohm aftermarket speakers, you'll notice a significant loss of volume — never a good thing. Finding 2-ohm replacement speakers has always been a problem. Until now, that is....

These specially designed PowerBass 2-ohm speakers will make the most of your factory power. Install these OE-6C 6-1/2" component speakers, and you'll hear a big improvement in sound quality over your old factory speakers. Plus, their shallow mounting depth ensures they're a fit in a wide variety of vehicles too.

Step up to aftermarket quality

Say goodbye to flimsy factory woofers and whizzer cones. Sturdy yet sensitive polypropylene woofers and butyl rubber surrounds deliver satisfying low-frequency and midrange performance while shrugging off the extreme temperatures in your car doors. The separate 1" aluminum alloy dome tweeters bring the high range to life with the crisp detail that's been missing from your factory sound. PowerBass includes compact 2-way crossovers that distribute the highs and lows to the proper speakers.

Note: These speakers won't work with aftermarket car stereos, unless you add a 2-ohm stable outboard amplifier to your system. PowerBass designed these speakers for use with a 2-ohm factory system. Identify your vehicle or call an advisor to confirm compatibility.

Features

Application: On their website, PowerBass notes the 2Ω OE-Series speakers are not designed for use with aftermarket head units or amplifiers. However, if an amplifier is 2Ω stable, with appropriate output power, the speakers are compatible.

Woofer Size Classification Note: Some manufacturers, including PowerBass, call this size speaker a 6½". Because it requires a larger cutout than a standard 6½" speaker, Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this size woofer as a 6¾". Please enter your vehicle information to confirm fit.

Tweeter Mounting: The tweeters can be surface or flush mounted using the included adapters. The tweeters are shipped in the flush mount housings and the angled surface mount housings are included. The back of the flush mount housing and the top of the angled surface mount housing combine to create the (non-angled) surface mount housing.

Customer Q&A

5 questions already asked

Q
Is this an upgrade for Kia Stinger 2021 Harman Kardon door speakers?
[ JOHN  May 31, 2022 ]
1 answer
A
The PowerBass speakers can be used to upgrade the factory speakers in the Harman Kardon sound system while continuing to use the stock amp. The Polk speakers do not work well with the stock amp in that system and require that a new amp be installed to get an improvement in the sound.

Q
I have an aftermarket head unit but I'm using my factory Amp on an 04 Avalon. Will these work?
[ Matthew  May 02, 2021 ]

A
I would say yes . Because these are 2hom speakers and your aftermarket head unit should be 4hom
[ ROLAND  May 03, 2021 ]
A
I used them in a 2002 Toyota Sequoia that required the speakers to be 2-ohm. The components sounded pretty flat with the crossovers that came with the speaker set. I took the crossovers out and the speakers really came to life. Much better than the stock units with the factory amp and a Pioneer head unit.
[ LEA  May 03, 2021 ]
A
It looks like it should but being 2ohms you will need to change front and rear to balance the load on the amp. It could burn it out if unbalanced. Otherwise, stick to whatever the original ohms value was for the speakers are now.
[ RICHARD  May 03, 2021 ]
A
I tried that on an 05 Sequoia. It worked, but it sounded like garbage. You are better off using an aftermarket amp or ditching the amp altogether.
[ LUKE  May 02, 2021 ]
Q
`Does the crossover need to be installed when leaving the OEM amp in the vehicle?
[ TERRY  Jan 20, 2021 ]

A
I didn't and sounds great. Obviously it was an upgrade but can't see it making much difference.
[ ELLIOTT J  Jan 27, 2021 ]
A
First I installed the speakers through the factory amp without the crossovers. It sounded like total garbage. Afterwards I removed the amp and installed the crossovers. The sound was much better. It may not effect you but I also installed a head unit at the time and I used an install harness that used a black box to use the factory amp. Once I removed the amp, my battery kept dying. I tracked it down (with the help of Crutchfield tech support) to the black box. I removed that and things are all good now.
[ LUKE  Jan 21, 2021 ]
A
I installed these component speakers in a 2002 Toyota Sequoia with the JBL system and factory amp. With the kit-provided crossover installed, the sound was very muted to both drivers. I removed the crossover and connected both the woofer and tweeter to the factory wires and the sound was much better, a noticeable improvement over the factory speakers. I'm not sure but there might already be a crossover connected in the factory wiring. Both drivers are performing well without the crossover that came with the speakers. I'm pleased with the result since I was replacing two factory woofers that had blown out.
[ LEA  Jan 21, 2021 ]
A
I did not install it and it sounds fine. Of course I don't even know what that thing in the box was.
[ MIKE  Jan 21, 2021 ]
A
I connected the bass speakers directly to the leads from the OEM amp. However, I did not install/replace the tweeters since the OEM tweeters worked well. Therefore, I did not install the crossover units at all.
[ FERNANDO  Jan 20, 2021 ]
A
I also was confused by this. It does not. Also, the speaker wires for the factory midrange speaker are not reused.
