Dynapad vs Dynamat

This is a heavy duty liner best placed on flat areas of the car to reduce sound and vibration. It's basically like a carpet on steroids. I'm terms of differences between this and Dynamat.Dynamat is more like a sound insulator, a sponge material with the sticky backing which you can put anywhere but especially useful for say the headliner or doors where you need the sticky backing to apply it. DynaPAD is much heavier and has NO sticky backing so it's best used on lowere areas needing the most SHIELDING from noise. Eg the flooring of the car. Very heavy and reassuring. Good for firewalls, trunk, underwear, under carpets and maybe wheel wells if you can get to them. Dynamat advises to put them on top of dynamat extreme. I used Kilmat.any vibration dampener is good. Butyl based.

Pros: Very heavyweight, substantial, does a very nice job of sound and vibration absorption.

Cons: Expensive. I needed 3 of these sheets to cover my car flooring and firewall.you light might more at which point you're spending $300+ on a secondary layer of soundproofing after having probably already spent 100's on a he initial layer of butyl based sound deadening materials and application. No sticky backing. Takes some muscle to for nearly into corners and the firewall areas especially.

I think this is my favorite Dynamat product. I used in vertically and it will stick and sticks beautifully to a backer board with professional headliner adhesive. I wouldn't try it on a roof. Too heavy. If you're looking for 100% noise blocking that's not what this does. You can't defy physics. What this does do is change resonance. It muffles. It dampens. It quiets. I'm impressed. I'd use it again. I'm now looking for other places to use it. In my case best bang for my buck and I did install it over dynamat which by itself FYI had zero noise blocking effect - that's not what that does either.

Crutchfield has the best price!

Pros: One stop shop for Dynamate

Cons: Wasted my time building shopping carts, just to find out Crutchfield had the lowest prices for the same product.

Not so much bang for the buck

I installed Dynapad over Dynamat extreme and under new carpet in my truck. The padding appeared to be of very high quality but truthfully, the difference in noise reduction was minimal. This stuff is expensive. If I were to do it over again I would look for a less expensive alternative.

Not worth the price

I purchased this product with the intent to cure my trunk rattle. I am sorry to say that I am very disappointed. For $140 the amount of product that you receive is pathetic. Sure, it did help the rattle, but it left a hole in my pocket. You are much better off going with the cheaper original dynamat.
