Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Sony's XBR-43X800E packs impressive TV technology into a compact 43" panel. It combines 4K resolution with HDR (High Dynamic Range) to deliver a vibrant viewing experience.
Recently, one of my co-workers, Will, stopped me in the break room to say he'd replaced a 7-year-old TV with the XBR-43X800E, and was blown away by the improvements. Here's what he had to say.
"I didn't really need a new TV, but after experiencing the difference, I can't believe I held out so long. Although I am mesmerized by streaming 4K/HDR content (have not purchased a 4K Blu-ray player yet), the real surprise is normal content — news, sports, sitcoms, etc. It looks so great that I now gravitate to the smallest TV in the house.
"Here are the things that struck me:
HDR is one of the biggest advances in TV technology in years. Movies and shows encoded with HDR can provide incredibly vivid color, brightness, and contrast when viewed on the XBR-43X800E. HDR is available on nearly all Ultra HD Blu-ray titles, as well as on a growing amount of streamed 4K content from services like Netflix® and Amazon Instant Video.
The '43X800E brilliantly displays content from Ultra HD Blu-ray players and discs, as well as streamed 4K movies and TV shows. It will upconvert all your other sources to near-4K quality. Sony's 4K X-Reality™ PRO chip visibly improves detail and color on everything from Blu-ray discs to video games to streamed content.
The XBR-43X800E uses Sony's TRILUMINOS™ Display technology to offer a wider range of reds, blues, and greens than you get with a traditional LED panel. This expanded palette ensures that colors do not become oversaturated. Instead, they look more lifelike and natural.
Imagine watching a football or baseball game, and seeing all of the shades of green appear the way they would on an actual grassy field. Or seeing your favorite actor's face — with all of its subtle skin tones — displayed with nuance and authenticity. That's the sort of true-to-life color that the '43X800E delivers.
The built-in Android™ operating system lets this TV operate a lot like a smartphone. You can use Chromecast Built-in™ to cast movies and TV shows, music, and photos and videos from your iOS® or Android-based phone, or from a laptop. The remote's voice control feature lets you access movies, shows, and apps, simply by talking.
Use the Sanus MountFinder™ to see a list of wall-mounts that work with your specific TV.
Easy install and set up and the picture is very good. Another great Sony for the house. Installed in bedroom, replacing an old Sony 20" Trinitron - needed the extra size to read the Dish menu across the room.....

Average Customer Review(s):
I could have just as easily given a 5 star rating as I have really no prior experience with the flat screen. I bought the Sony, because it seemed to have better picture quality and sound than comparable 43" flat screen TVs on the show room floor. After about 3 months of thinkng about it and doing my research, I bought this TV two weeks ago and finally (@ 5:00 PM) set it up in time to catch the super bowl 53. So far, so good with local over the air reception. The predecessor to this TV was a 1990's 23" combo VCR/ TV with the rabbit ears. The technical help was great. As someone, who is last on block to adopt new technology, I was pleasantly surprised how smoothly the initial set up. went I will need to get more technical help to complete the adjustments as I pressed a wrong button during set up and apparently stopped the process. I still have a lot of questions regarding the Google Android set up signing up with content providers, in addition to Net Flix.
Very nice TV set. Excellent video quality in a unit just the right size for me.
Easy install and set up and the picture is very good. Another great Sony for the house. Installed in bedroom, replacing an old Sony 20" Trinitron - needed the extra size to read the Dish menu across the room.....
Pros: Great picture
Usual Sony quality I have become to know. Excellent picture quality. Easy to set up.
Great tv... clarity! Rad of use ??couldn't be more satisfied!!!
Pros: Clarity, ease of setup/ use...
Cons: Stand, not compatible with a sound bar - sticks out too far...
Great product from Sony. The picture is fantastic. I purchased a Sony sound bar to go along with it and am very happy.
Took less than 5 minutes to set up from unpack to turn on. Great picture. Although I had a 120Hz refresh TV prior, they managed the motion flow for this size model and the difference is unnoticeable to me. Love the placement and design of the stand. Speakers are on the bottom and I suggest a sound bar if using in a large area. However, I may get one for later. Still learning and working thru all the apps; not sure why I need my Roku now? I'll figure it out tho.
Pros: Great picture. Nice remote. Rear of stand has wrap slot for wires, great feature.
Cons: speakers/sound, need to be at 20+ with ppl around
Love the picture and all the apps. A great upgrade for the bedroom. Easy setup, great phone app for remote.
Not a bad buy but versus other brands pricing at 43 inches this one is overheated in price. It's choc full with apps if that's essential to one's viewing/listening diet. I bought this to replace an '15 LG 43 believing that the "better processor" in the Sony would have an advanced picture quality. Not so. The LG (moved to another room) is sharper, easier to watch. I would have preferred an updated LG at 43 but Crutchfield only stocks the large LGs now. The 50" just doesn't fit well in-house. Could go to another retailer but prefer Crutchfield and have for many years. Spent about $200 more on this Sony than it's worth. We're almost to '19 and Sony is still selling this '17 model in 43. Suspect nothing is new coming from Sony in the small screen.
Pros: Easy to navigate the menu.
Cons: Picture quality not up to the hype.
EASY SETUP - GOOD INTERNET - GREAT PICTURE
i'm not one that is super critical as to the tv quality I watch, but this is a Sony and I don't think that they make a mediocre product. I'm very satisfied with this tv and with the fast shipping.
Great TV ,easy install and set up and the picture is very good.
Very nice set for the price. I would have paid a little more for a set with a higher refresh rate but for my application and with the size constraint I had this set is better than fine.
For @ 33 Years SONY XBR TVs have provided the Absolute, overall BEST Quality & Performance KV 25XBR KV 27XBR KV 27XBX CRTs KDL 32XBR KBR 43X800E
Pros: Super Performance with a size that unobtrusively in a Antique 200 Year Olde Home!!!
Real life TV viewing for example watching the news, movies and sports events is enhanced with the color differentiation and clarity of the picture. Movies from Amazon video also looks amazing. When you go to big box stores what they show are high definition videos that may not still be available in routine daily TV viewing. When you ask them to show the news channel so you can compare they have all kinds of rationale to decline your request. I have been a SONY aficionado for the past quarter of a century. My second choice is Samsung if the size of screen is unavailable with SONY. Both are excellent brands but SONY I believe has an edge in terms of color separation and true to life color differentiation. It is more expensive but its quality and longevity is worth much more.
Pros: Amazing true color differentiation
Cons: A lot more expensive
I had to replace a 43" Sony 830 (no longer available) and this is the only 43" model. First, it is about 1/4" wider, so it does not fit in the space where the 830 was. It is not as thin - it has a bulbus protrusion on the lower rear, so it is not as flush to the wall. I had to spend an extra $180 on a new wall mount as Sony has changed the screw locations on the back. My impression is that the picture is not as good. For example, when I look at the cable program guide, the letters are not clear and distinct, but pixelated. (Maybe a setting somewhere yet to be discovered). I guess, not bad for the relatively low price, but I would prefer a higher quality box with more options in this size. I also have a home theater (projection( so this
Pros: Bulky, Picture quality
We have had the Sony XBR for a couple of weeks and very pleased with ease of use and pix quality. It's a huge improvement over my old set.
Pros: Huge improvement over my old Sony.
Absolutely LOVE Sony XBR televisions! We own four and purchase nothing else. The colors/blacks are "true" colors, not exaggerated or enhanced like other popular brands that are so overly bright/enhanced that you almost have to wear sunglasses when watching shows on them. Easy to use.
Pros: Quality, realistic colors.
Great product and fantastically quick shipping! Sony XBR TVs are definitely worth the extra money. A+
Love this thing... I have other Sony TV's as well, but this is the youngest by far. I connected an Apple TV 4K to it and stream Ultra HD from Amazon prime and Netflix. The picture quality is AMAZING. It looks like a window on you wall its so clear. Now, is it as good as OLED??... sadly, no. BUT, it's a fraction of the price and the room I have it in has lots of ambient light and the OLED screens remind me of the old Plasma TVs whereas it may reflect a lot of window light, etc.. I would say its as close to OLED 4K as you can get for the price range... Highly recommend and would buy again.
Pros: -Smart. Stream right to the TV. -Great price. -Amazing picture. -Most bang for your buck.
Cons: -A step behind OLED. -Not the "newest" "greatest" tech to brag about.
We built a new downsize retirement home and Tv space was an issue. The 43 Sony was the ticket. Ultimate quality and the right size fit our needs. Why Buy Sony?? Our tv repair guy said it is the only brand he does not work on. That sealed the deal.
Pros: All good. Great picture.
Cons: Back part of the Tv stand has 2 feet instead of bar like front.
I bought this Smart Sony XBR-43X800E to replace a not so smart Sony. In haven't been disappointed, it does way more than I expected and couldn't be more satisfied.
Pros: All is good
Cons: Sound could use a little boost
Great picture, sleek and lightweight design works fine with my articulating wall mount. Headphone/subwoofer mini-jack simply connects my analog stereo amp for great audio. Set-up and control functions are easy to figure out. As it came, there was an audio glitch during DVR use so I performed the recommended firmware update and voila! -- the glitch is gone: cool! My viewing room has floor-to-ceiling windows and glare/reflections on the screen isn't a problem. Since Panasonic left the U.S. market, SONY is my TV brand now. Am I the only one who thinks "motion smoothing" on the newer TVs is creepy? Fortunately, it can be defeated.
Pros: Picture quality Build quality Inputs/outputs
Basically plug and play setup. Understand that we were upgrading from a 27" Sony Vizio CRT which refused to die. We got tired of waiting and finally made the move to a flat screen. So this is a significant improvement in visual quality.
Well done as promised
Great set and fits very nicely.
My decision to by this Great Sony 4K HDR TV was based on the four other Sony TV's we have owned since the mid 1970's after looking at TV's for two years and reviewing Consumer Reports review's and CNET.com and other web sites. I also reviewed Samsung and LG love both but given the space limitation of 43" wide max the Sony XBR-43X800E was the only choice. Set-up was simple for the most part, you have to pay attention to HOW the set-up and read the choices carefully. The why my choice Sony Object-based HDR remastering,X-tended Dynamic Range PRO,and we love Triluminos display with X1 Extreme processing..
Pros: Price for what you get. Has features the XBR 900F does not. Only choice if you have only 43". Works great with Roku Streaming Stick+ 4K HDR and cable TV 1080p.
Cons: Could use X-tended Dynamic Range XDR Contrast 5X on the 43".
First of all, plan on using an extension cord because the AC power cord isn't long enough to reach an outlet. I found the setup to be complicated. The menu navigation is cryptic at best and downright frustrating at worst. Sony support is no help. After being on the phone for 10 minutes with someone who thought he was speaking English, I hung up. I was trying to scan the antenna channels and couldn't figure out how to tell the TV to switch to antenna and not cable. Eventually I stumbled onto the correct menu after much trial and error. The user's guide that comes with the TV is best suited to lining the bottom of a birdcage. There are more pages telling you how to unpack the TV and lawyered-up safety warnings than there are telling you how to operate the TV. After getting lost in the menu catacombs, I went online to find out how to do a factory reset and started over. This time, I did not connect the TV to the internet. Once I got it so I could watch TV, I decided not to press my luck any farther. Even so, occasionally when you first turn it on you'll end up with some page from the menu system and you have to exit that in order to watch TV. The picture is adequate but I wouldn't say it's superior to a lot of other sets you can get for half the price. This has really soured me on Sony. The one bright spot in all this was the help I got from Dakota at Crutchfield. He went above and beyond, even calling Sony himself to try to help me. Kudos!
Pros: Adequate picture and sound. Good enough for bedroom placement.
Cons: Frustrating menu system.
This tv was perfect for my needs. The set had to fit in a cabinet and have broad viewing angle. It has a very bright and sharp picture. The sound is very good and the smart tv meets all my needs. I would buy from Crutchfield again and buy a Sony tv.
I chose this TV for various reasons - the first being that it supports 4K resolution and would go with the other components I was upgrading at the same time that support 4K (Blu-Ray player and sound bar). The second was that it was just the right size to fit in our existing media cabinet that sits in an alcove in our living room that is not big enough for larger TV's. The picture quality is phenomenal both in playback of video from our new 4K Blu-Ray player as well as from streaming 4K YouTube videos. The setup of the TV was fairly straightforward and being able to update the internal software via Wi-Fi is a nice feature. I'm still learning about all that the TV can do but at this point am extremely happy with the purchase.
Pros: 4K Resolution Perfect Size Amazing Picture Quality
Had a Samsung UN46B6000(2008). We were TV location challenged, our best TV location is between Fireplace Mantle and 8' Ceiling. The bottom of the TV is 5' above floor level and 8" above the mantle top which leaves 5" between ceiling to top of TV. We also have numerous windows that allows for a significant amount of daytime light, which is why OLED is preferred, but OLEDs are not available in less that 55" size. That being said; Sony's TV footprint is very good, less than 1/2" of frame surrounds the picture which means almost all the TV wall surface coverage area is TV Screen, very efficient use of space. We shopped MANY 43" to 49" TV's to meet our space limitations. We found that the Sony 43X800E was best suited for our needs. We chose the 43" over the 49" because the loss of screen size was insignificant because we are under 6' from the TV and the 30% cost savings by choosing the 43" over the 49" was used to increase the quality of audio components. That's the good. The bad is our need for " work arounds" to optimize TV viewing. First, unless you're space and location challenged get the an OLED TV, the Blacks are noticeably sharper and well worth the increased cost. Second, get a quality wall mount don't go cheap, get top tilt of at least 20 degrees. You need to be able to draw a perpendicular line from Screen to your personal viewing height. Third, be reasonable with Audio Equipment, DONT rely on built in TV Audio, bu go bold with subwoofer, we chose DT Super Cube 2000.
Pros: Best quality for screens under 49".
Cons: Not an OLED or like quality screen.
The picture is awesome and smart TV is very fast when loading up. Sound is pretty good too.
Pros: Picture Sound Price
Cons: None yet
Met all expectations for high quality Sony product. Instruction manual is strictly a set-up guide, not an operations manual. For a non-tech mature person, It takes a bit of digging and scrolling through multi layers of on screen data to get results Sony's great help line is my rescue.
Great Picture, Price and Sound is outstanding. Like how the speakers are at the bottom of the unit and not on the back.
Great television for the money.
Pros: Great picture and features for the price
Cons: No Cons
Very clear picture and easy to set up. Very satisfied and the physical dimensions were perfect for the cabinet housing it. Seems to be on a par with the very nice Samsung TV's we have. Sound quality is not bad either but we're using an existing sound bar with it. Color rendition quite good and contrast seems very good also. I had wanted 120Hz refresh rate but that is not available in this size (43") - still, it's quite good.
Pros: Probably the best TV you can find at this size (43"). Good picture, rapid setup.
Cons: None found yet other than the lack of 120 Hz refresh.
Great entry point into 4k UHD. The reason I buy from Crutchfield is the support. When I need their support (which is rare) it is first quality!
Pros: Excellent picture and set-up.
Cons: IR blaster somewhat tricky to set-up.
Great tv for a decent price
Great TV. I'm very pleased and impressed with the picture quality.
Pros: Excellent picture quality, easy to setup.
Cons: Three USB ports, two of which are USB 2.0
So far so good. The set up was easy. The picture is a little dark at times and certain channels I see some pixilation more than others. It is a 4K TV so I know the best reception comes with a 4K box which I don't have and aren't readily available yet. The colors can really pop though, not muted. There are a lot of adjustments and it wasn't too hard to drill in and make adjustments, but I haven't tried too hard to really dial it in the way I would like. Good working with Crutchfield and fast delivery.
Pros: Picture, ease of set up
Cons: Not quite 100% satisfied with the picture, but perhaps I can dial it in over time. (minor issue)
Pros: Great picture quality & very thin and lightweight
Cons: Takes a minute for Android to boot up each time
This is our third TV from Crutchfield and as usual their customer service is fantastic. This TV has a great picture. It was easy to set up and has all the features we need and more. I t seamlessly connected with Direct TV box and out soundbar. However, the Bluetooth would not pair with the Sony headphones we bought at the same time. That was a key feature due to my hearing loss. Crutchfield tech support was great but couldn't solve the problem. Rather than return the unit I am buying an external Bluetooth transmitter. Otherwise I would rate it 5 stars.
Pros: Great picture, easy setup, plenty of features and options, looks good.
Cons: Bluetooth won't pair with headphones. Owner's manual inadequate.
My new TV is great. The picture is very sharp and clear, and the Smart TV grid is easy to use. I especially like the ability to set up one remote for all the functions.
Hard to imagine a better 43" television! Would have preferred a larger unit but space limitations dictated size of set. Is 4K/HDR overkill in a set this size? Perhaps but how many TVs does one buy, and how long does each set last? Buy the best when you can. Have purchased a number of Sony TVs over the years, both CRT and LED units and have never had a problem. Purchased one "inexpensive" set that wasn't a Sony and it failed in less than two years. Do yourself a favor, if you need a 43" set, do skimp, buy this Sony. One reviewer complained about a two or three star guide - the truth is you don't really need a guide.
Pros: Crutch field service + Sony quality + great picture. Easy intuitive set up.
Cons: A bit pricey (but worth it!).
My experience with Crutchfield was very good.... We did have a problem with delivery. The TV was lost in transit (UPS) and was supposed to be here for Christmas. I contacted Crutchfield the beginning of January, and did receive a new TV within in days. However, I would have appreciated if Crutchfield would have discounted my purchase, because of the inconvenience. We are enjoying the TV.......
Pros: Good customer service
Cons: Poor delivery
Great Picture!!! Easy to set up. Another great product from Sony.
Pros: Picture, set up, sound, easy Netflix access.
Nice TV. Great picture and easy setup. The sound isn't great however.
Pros: Picture, ease of setup
Cons: Lack of sound
Bought this as a Christmas gift for my dad after he compared so many different makes/models of 4K TVs to fit in the entertainment center. We have been a Samsung household for so long, but he spent hours and settled on this as his new TV. Needless to say the movement it arrived on the doorstep, he immediately opened it and begin setting it up. Almost a month in and he is loving it. Thank you Crutchfield for your amazing customer service and outstanding products!
Great experience. The TV is everything I expected and the customer service people at Crutchfield was top shelf!!!
Pros: Picture, sound& set up. Everything about the T V was exactly as advertised.
Sony out did themselves! This is a great buy. I have had this TV for almost two months and want to give this model a thumbs up for those doing their research. I have this in my travel trailer and love it. The picture and sound is great and have nothing negative to report. This smart TV has all the bells and whistles I like especially the power saver modes. Colors and sound are crisp and for my set up no need for a sound bar, the set by it's self very good. I recommend this for those shopping for small living room or bedroom. Not to forget an RV or travel trailer like I use it in.
Pros: Great value, colors, sound, apps and remote.
Cons: I can't think of any at this time.
Excellent tv with great color. Purchase quality that will last decades. Excellent customer service by Critchfield.
This is a 5-star TV with a 2-3-star printed guide. Hence a 4-star rating. The TV itself is great - bright, clear, crisp picture with excellent color and with good sound. The guide describes in detail how to physically st up the TV, but virtually nothing about how to operate it. Only after a few weeks did I discover that the HELP button on the remote brings up a host of useful information. If the guide included and highlighted a paragraph about the information the help button brings up, it could be a 5-star guide to accompany a 5-star TV.
Pros: Excellent TV
Cons: Terrible manual
Great picture with sony Quality. You get what you pay for. Have all sony in my house 75",65",46"43"&40".
Pros: Great tv
Cons: None. Perfect size for bedroom.
Love the new TV. great picture
Great picture quality, as expected from Sony. Pleasantly surprised by the voice control capability - it eliminates traversing endless menus. I only use antenna for TV input, and I see a lot more channel sensitivity than on my older Sony. Intuitive setup - if you've ever done one before, this will be the easiest ever.
Pros: Magnificent video
Very nice picture and easy to setup. Original TV had small imperfection in the screen. Called customer support and they sent me a replacement that same day. Best customer service you can ask for. Will definitely buy from Crutchfield in the future.
We are very happy with our choice of this TV. Set up was very easy and we were watching in no time!
Pros: Easy to set up.
The Sony Xbr 43x800e is certainly the sweet spot in the xbr line.highly recommended.
Great product! Easy to set up. Crutch field is a great company to work with.
Out of the box, Sony provides on screen help for set up. Loved how Sony set-up the IR Blaster, so you can use your cable box remote. Connection to our Wi-Fi was easy. Picture out of the box is very good, but we will/may be doing some tweaking. During set-up Sony asked on screen to checked for updates to software. Updates were found and after 10 to 15 minutes, the TV shuts off and restarted with software update complete ! Hook up of cable box and dvd player via HDMI no problem. We found the sound from movies and shows was very good ( no deep base ). Dialogue (voices) were clear and we had no trouble hearing programs. We don't use Apps, so can't comment on using them here. Thank you Crutchfield for a great product and price ! Also, thank my adviser Kristina for her help during and after the sale.
Pros: Easy Sony TV set-up. Picture, sound and features.
Brilliant picture. Didn't think would be able to tell the difference from standard HDTV....but even without 4K content, Sony's upscaling techniques make everything look an order of magnitude better...colors, clarity, et al...even over the air HDTV couldn't be a better picture.
Pros: Incredibly sharp picture
Pros: The size is a perfect a perfect fi for my custom closets. The picture is very nice as well. Great TV.
Cons: Remote control looks dated
I have used the Sony XBR Series for years along with the Sony PVM Series PVM Professional Video Monitor The Sight and Sound are Above the competition This is my first 4K Ultra as my other Sony Sets are still in service I am still in Awe
Great TV; superb picture. The TV is light, thin and uses very little power. I've had Sony TV's before and this is by far one of their best in this size range. The remote control is a bit awkward and is not intuitive and getting to the "settings" /configuration for this TV is a bit rough, but once it's set up it's a great set. I'd recommend this.
Pros: Picture, contrast, styling, and design.
Cons: Remote control is awkward and getting to the TV settings /configuration is not as easy as other TV's. But still, overall it's a great TV!
This is a fantastic television with easy out of the box setup. It's the perfect size for my cottage. The sound is quite good. However, if you are a music or movie fan, a soundbar will make a positive contribution to your experience. The picture is amazing and settings are available to suit any viewing preference you might have.
Pros: Easy out of the box setup, great picture and a great value for the $ spent.
Cons: none observed
Great picture for the money. Sony always has the best true to life colors of the LED 4K TV's! Using in my home office for both work related programs such as HGTV and watching sports. Have two other Sony TV's.
great tv, i have yet to find some thing that it can't do. works awesome.price is great.
Great Picture... Screen and stand look high dollar...
Excellent product, great quality, design, and price.
I was actually looking for a TV with specific dimensions to fit in a spot in our keeping room. This fit the bill perfectly. And, it is a great TV. Slim, good sound, great picture with the 4K upscaling. Sony has been a leader in great TV products for 50 years.
Pros: The perfect size I was looking for. Great picture
Cons: Stand is a little rough on the bottom. Needs rubber feet.
Great picture. Easy to connect TIVO remote to it
Pros: Picture quality. Connects to Prime video
Cons: Android friendly. I have Apple phone and computer
The TV is Great. Picture, sound, ease of use and design are all excellent. You can always count on Sony and Crutchfield.
Sony have always been the right product for me.
Pros: Quality of picture
Cons: Directv Ready still requires leased equipment from the server.
Blown away by this tv, maybe because it's my first 4k tv. Colors just pop compared to my Samsung 65" full HD tv. I also like the fact that has an android based OS, however, the menu, settings and smart capabilities menu need to be redesigned and properly organized because it's really hard to get around them. The remote doesn't have a dedicated button to change the audio(standard, clear, sports, surround and such like on some tvs)Other than that Im very satisfied with the picture quality which is what matter, so Im just taking off 1 star.
Pros: Excellent Picture Quality Decent TV speakers Android based OS
Cons: Complicated menu Complicated menu Complicated menu
So far so good!!! Easy set-up.
Awesome picture with great color and resolution. Easy to hookup and configure to get started. Looking to purchase a bigger TV so would buy this Sony series again from Crutchfield. It was a great buying experience.Readington NJ
Pros: Great Picture Great Color Contrast Great Resolution Plenty of HDMI outlets Small bezel, it can fit in smaller cabinets with largest screen size
Cons: Optic sound output port will not allow external speaker volume to be controlled by TV or cable remote
Could not be more pleased with the TV that the Crutchfield adviser recommended. I have limited space and one at the maximum screen and quality in a 43 inch. Although I have six Samsung this particular Sony outshines them all. I was told by Crutchfield I would be impressed and I am. Would highly recommend this TV.
Pros: Brightness and clarity of picture
Quality picture and sound!
Happy with this purchase. Sony always puts out a good product. Easy set up. Sound is decent, if you are not using an external system.
Pros: Easy set up. Great picture.
Replaced an old LG. Great TV. Setup up was easy. Mounting to the wall was easy. Would order again.
Great TV. Extremely easy to set up. Crutchfield has low price and it was delivered in less than 2 days!
It's a Sony, need I say more. OK I will, great picture ,easy to set up...Just a great bedroom TV, perfect size.
Pros: All good.
Cons: Sleep timer...to many steps.
I have 3 other sony's and they are all good. This one is as exactly as advertised
Cons: Not the greatest manual, had to call sony a few times with questions about the setup

This 4K television upscales your favorite TV shows, DVD and Blu-ray movies, even video-on-demand content, and smartphone videos to Ultra-HD quality. This unique 4K X-Reality PRO picture processing technology upscales every pixel for remarkable clarity. Advanced noise reduction techniques and a special pattern database ensure every scene is full of lifelike detail. One database is used to clean the picture, reducing on-screen noise; the other is used to upscale the resolution, improving clarity; while another database improves color, brightness, and contrast. These three powerful image improvement databases work together, dynamically improving pixels in real time. Each database has tens of thousands of references, amassed from Sony's experience creating content for TV and movies over the years.
TRILUMINOS Display: Unique to Sony, a TRILUMINOS Display with its specially developed backlight selectively maps colors across a wider gamut, ensuring subtle colors do not become oversaturated and unnatural. You'll enjoy vivid, authentic images that evoke the emotion in every scene. The more pencils you have to draw an image, the more vibrant and lifelike it becomes. TRILUMINOS Display works in the same way, using a wider color spectrum than a conventional LED-LCD display. A TRILUMINOS Display excels at reproducing reds, greens, and blues; colors that are notoriously difficult for TVs to display accurately. It also displays skin tones beautifully, thanks to its extensive color palette and precise gradation.
MotionFlow XR 240 Technology: Enjoy smooth and sharp details even in fast-moving sequences with Motionflow XR 240. Sony's MotionFlow XR 240 technology features a backlight control that is synchronized with the liquid crystal movement from frame-to-frame creating clearer, sharper moving images. MotionFlow XR 240 combines 60 frames-per-second with the TV's LED backlight system to simulate a 240 Hz effect. This innovative technology creates and inserts extra frames between the original ones and then compares key visual factors on successive frames, then calculates the split second of missing action in the sequences. MotionFlow XR 240 provides smooth detail during fast-action scenes for fast action movies and sports by reducing blur caused by quick camera movements, enhancing image sharpness, and overall creating a clearer picture.
Video Inputs: The Sony Ultra-HD TV is equipped with HDMI 2.0a, Component, and Composite video inputs. A back cover has to be removed to access these video inputs.
Note: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Clear QAM tuners with an RF-coaxial input, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.
Picture Adjustments: The TV offers a variety of screen, picture, and video adjustments to maximize image quality.
Light Sensor & Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE): The TV's built-in Light Sensor automatically adjusts the picture brightness based on the amount of light in the room. As a result, you can enjoy automatic customized picture brightness and save energy without lifting a finger. The televisions Advance Contrast Enhancer (ACE) automatically adjusts backlight and contrast to the most suitable setting judging from the brightness of the screen. This setting is especially effective for dark scenes, and will increase the contrast distinction for the darker picture scenes.
Live Color Technology: Powered by an image processor using an algorithm specially developed by Sony, Live Color is able to reproduce incredibly vivid colors on screen. With four user-adjustable settings available (High/Medium/Low/Off), you can choose just how vivid you want your images to be. Whether it's a brilliant blue sky or a bright red rose, everything stands out so much more with Live Color.
Dynamic Contrast Enhancer: The Dynamic Contrast Enhancer optimizes the range of brightness frame-by-frame according to what's happening on screen to reproduce deeper blacks, brighter whites, and more video color.
24pTrue Cinema (24p Input Capability): Many movies are filmed at 24 frames per second (fps) and prime time TV programs are video taped at 24p. Seizing on an opportunity, some studios are taking a purist approach and encoding high definition video content such as Blu-ray Disc in 24p. Sony wisely takes advantage of this by including 24p input capability via HDMI on this television producing images that are smooth and natural looking.
PIP (Picture-in-Picture): Through an over-the-network firmware update, the TV will support PIP (Picture-in-Picture). This feature lets you watch the TV's over-the-air tuner in a small window on-screen, while viewing an Android TV app (like Netflix or Amazon).
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel within the television's HDMI 3 input enables the TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an AV receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 3 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.
Audio Outputs: The Sony Ultra-HD TV offers analog and digital audio outputs.
S-Force Front Surround: S-Force Front Surround mimics the way the brain correlates sound sources to create proper volume, time lag, and sound wave spectrum; using only left and right speaker channels. By naturally emulating three-dimensional sound fields, you'll enjoy rich, high-fidelity audio across a wider listening area.
ClearAudio+: ClearAudio+ fine-tunes TV sound for an immersive experience that seems to surround you. Hear music, dialog, and surround effects with greater clarity and separation, whatever you're watching.
Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE): Low-resolution Internet video and other heavily compressed audio files don't always sound so great. A large amount of information gets thrown away when digital audio is compressed. With Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) technology, lost frequency components (especially high frequencies) are restored for natural sound with a more spacious feel.
Clear Phase: Sony uses a powerful computer model to analyze and compensate for inaccuracies in speaker response. It does this by "sampling" the speaker frequency with higher precision. This information is fed back to cancel out any peaks or dips in the speaker's natural response; resulting in pure, natural audio with smooth, even reproduction of all frequencies.
EQ: The TV offers four EQ preset sound modes - Standard, Cinema, Music, and Live Football. The TV is also equipped with a 7-band EQ (125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 4kHz, 8kHz). You can adjust the level of each band between -12 to +12 dB.
Voice Zoom & Night Mode: The Voice Zoom feature makes voices clearer by lowering background sound. Night mode provides a clear sound at a low volume levels.
Volume Offset & Auto Volume: Volume Offset adjusts the volume level of the current input relative to other inputs. The Advanced Auto Volume function keeps the volume level constant across all programs and advertisements.
TV Position: The speakers of this TV provide different sound images according to how you position the television. You can select between "Table-Top Stand" or "Wall Mount" to provide the best sound quality based on the television's placement.

Via the TV's network connection you gain access to Android TV and Google Play, as well as content stored on your network computer. You also get the ability to stream content from your Android or Apple iOS mobile device to the TV.

My trusty Panasonic LCD TV, also purchased from Crutchfield, fried yesterday -- it was a great TV! Since Panasonic no longer sells TVs in the States, (sad to say) Sony seemed like the next best brand to put my trust in. Sony has some big shoes to fill. The HDMI connection #3 is the HDMI ARC connection on the TV which allows the TV to send audio back to a compatible device like a sound bar or home theater receiver that also support HDMI ARC. This HDMI port and the optical audio connection can output a full DTS/DD sound track when its there or 2 channel audio if that's all there is. The headphone jack will only output 2 channel audio no matter if the TV gets a DTS, DD, or 2 channel audio. HTH! I have mine wall mounted in the corner of my living room, so I can watch from about 15° left of center from my recliner, but also from my kitchen table about 30° right of center in the next room. I use mine in the 10-12 foot range. The quality of this set is so good that I just bought its big brother a 65 inch 930e. Sony has really made a comeback. I have,(had), 5 Samsung's, now down to three and dropping. You will love the 43 [ DENNIS B Nov 30, 2017 ]
It is an Android TV, so its kind of like an android phone with apps that are pre-approved by Sony. You put in a gmail account (you could use a real one or make one up), and then you install apps. Netflix app, amazon app are already loaded. You can "cast" to it from other android devices on your network, if that's what you are asking. Sorry, I'm not familiar with iPhone and Macbook IOS stuff. The 2017 XBR43X800E model adds Live Color Technology and Dynamic Contrast Enhancer to improve the picture quality over the 2016 XBR43X800D. Live Color Technology is an image processor using an algorithm specially developed by Sony that is designed to reproduce incredibly vivid colors on screen; and the Dynamic Contrast Enhancer optimizes the range of brightness frame-by-frame according to what's happening on screen to reproduce deeper blacks, brighter whites, and more video color. The 2017 also adds Bluetooth audio (via future firmware update) which enables the TV to wirelessly transmit its audio over a Bluetooth connection to a set of Bluetooth headphones, a single Bluetooth speaker, or a single pair of Bluetooth speakers. It's also slightly lighter weighing 23.8 lbs. with stand; 22.3 lbs. without (compared to 29.1 lbs. with stand; 27.1 lbs. without). Hope that helps! [ Larry Apr 30, 2017 ] Staff
