About the Sony Handycam® FDR-AX700

Record amazing moments in 4K resolution

Record this incredible view in 4K with the Sony Handycam FDR-AX700.
Record amazing moments in 4K resolution
You remember the big moments in your life in scintillating full color. Don't you wish you could share that immersive feeling with friends and family? The Sony Handycam FDR-AX700 can commit those memories to crystal-clear 4K video. When you watch the footage you shot during your wedding, or a walk amongst the stunning desert plateaus of Moab, Utah, you'll feel like you're there all over again.
The camera has a large 1" Exmor image sensor with 14 megapixels, so each frame you shoot is sharp, bright, and packed with rich colors and detail. An impressive autofocus system with 273 AF points lets you easily focus on your subject and track it as it moves.
Optical SteadyShot® image stabilization
It doesn't matter how sharp your image is if it's shaky and blurry. Sony takes care of that, building in their trademarked SteadyShot technology so your shots have rock-solid framing.
The internal BIONZ® X processor can keep up with just about anything. If you're the one that's moving as you follow a streaking toddler, no problem. If you're in a moving car, shooting out the window? Also covered. Even when the lens is zoomed out to its full range, SteadyShot helps keep small movements from wrecking the shot.
Wi-Fi connectivity for simple sharing
No need to wait until you get home to share your videos with friends and family. The FDR-AX700 is equipped with internal Wi-Fi so you can go from shooting to sharing in a flash. If you're an Android™ user, just use one-touch Near Field Communication (NFC) to pair your compatible device to the camera, and you're on your way.
Fast, slow, and super-slow
Maybe you want to slow down the moment your kid scored a goal for maximum effect. Or you want to speed up video of an art project coming to life. With the 'AX700, you have creative options.
In S&Q (slow & quick) modes, you can shoot HD video between 1-240 frames per second to match your creative vision. If you want to go super-slow, that's possible, too. You can go down to a truly slug-like 960fps to analyze every moment of a sudden event.

4K Digital Camcorder: The FDR-AX700 is a 4K Handycam camcorder from Sony for recording breathtaking video and audio with professional results. Ultra High Definition/4K content can be played back on a 4K TV in full resolution (3840 x 2160), or in Full High Definition (1920 x 1080) on an HDTV.
3.5" LCD Screen: The FDR-AX700 features a 16:9 wide-screen 3.5" Extra Fine LCD display. The high resolution 1,555,200-dot LCD screen can swing out 90 degrees, and rotate up to 270 degrees for multiple viewing angles. The LCD provides sharp and detailed images for monitoring or playback. The screen automatically switches to Mirror mode when the screen is rotated 180 degrees (for self-recording), but the image will still be normal when recorded.
0.39" OLED Viewfinder: The FDR-AX700 also features an adjustable 0.39" wide-screen color viewfinder (2,359,296 dots) that lets you record and review video and still images when the LCD display is closed or in Mirror mode. The viewfinder can be pulled out to turn the camcorder on, and angled up to 45° if desired. The camcorder turns off when the viewfinder is pushed back in.
Built-in Microphone: The camcorder has a stereo microphone for capturing high-quality sound. If desired, you can add an external microphone via the Multi-Interface shoe or microphone jack.

Minimum Illumination is 3 lux (standard), 1.7 lux (Low Lux), 0 lux (NightShot).
