Overview: The Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II (SEL2470GM2) is a G-Master standard zoom lens. Sony G-Master lenses feature the most advanced optical technology to achieve spectacular resolution. It weighs over 20% less than the previous model, and is 16mm shorter, making it easy to transport in a wide range of shooting situation. The SEL2470GM2 comes with a lens hood and a lens case.

Compatibility: The SEL2470GM2 lens is equipped with a Sony E-mount, and has full compatibility with Sony Full-Frame Interchangeable Lens mirrorless cameras. It also fits E-mount APS-C cameras, where the lens has an equivalent focal length of 36-105mm.

Lens Construction: The lens is constructed with 20 lens elements in 15 groups, including 2 ED, 2 Super ED lens, and 2 XA (extreme aspherical) lens elements. It has a floating focus mechanism for sharp, clear images at all zoom and aperture settings. The Nano AR Coating II is an anti-reflection coating on the lens surfaces that effectively reduces flare and ghosting. The lens design suppresses internal reflections for better clarity when shooting landscapes, sports, and other subjects.

Aperture: The FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II G-Master lens gives you beautiful bokeh throughout the zoom range, thanks to the new 11-blade circular aperture and advanced optics. The two XA elements are manufactured to 0.01-micron surface precision that suppress onion ring bokeh, while the ED glass elements prevent color bleeding for natural-looking circular bokeh. The lens features a dedicated aperture ring for direct control. The aperture ring has click-stops as it is rotated to provide tactile feedback when shooting still images. The clicks can be turned off for smooth, silent control when shooting movies. The Iris Lock switch prevents the aperture ring from being accidently moved between Auto (A) and the F2.8 ~ F22 settings.

Auto Focusing: The lens gives you fast and accurate auto focusing performance, thanks to four XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors and a floating focus mechanism. You can easily switch between Auto Focus (AF) and Manual Focus (MF) via the Focus Mode Switch. For AF photography, both the camera and the lens should be set to AF. For MF photography, either or both the camera or the lens should be set to MF.

Focus Hold: While shooting in AF, you can press the Focus Hold button to turn off Auto Focusing to fix the focus at the present distance. To restart Auto Focusing, release the Focus Hold button and press the shutter button halfway.

Zoom: Rotating the Zooming Ring lets you zoom in or out to the desired focal length. A Zoom Smoothness switch on the lens barrel can increase or decrease the tension on the Zooming Ring. To keep the tension light, the switch should be set to Smooth. To prevent unintended movement of the lens ring, it is recommended that the switch be set to Tight.

Lens Hood: The lens includes the petal-shaped ALC-SH168 bayonet-mount lens hood to reduce flare and ensure maximum image quality. When mounted, the petal-shaped lens hood adds approximately 1.5" to the overall length of the lens. The lens hood has a polarizing filter window that lets you rotate the filter without having to remove the lens hood. When not in use, the lens hood can be inverted and stored on the lens backwards.
