Love the lens and can get excellent shots with it. Only thing (and it could just be me) but when doing action shots not all turn out as I would have hoped.
Pros: Crisp pics, great zoom for what I used it for.
Cons: I did not get the best action shots with it.

So far, a good solid lens. Biggest drawback is that it doesn't have a tripod collar. I don't understand why Sony didn't allow for this.
Pros:
Cons: Can't use on a tripod.

Sony SEL70300G FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6

Love this lens. I have it on my Sony a6300. Photos are sharp, bokeh is good, and it's light enough to hand hold. The four star rating is due to the f4.5-5.6. Of course if the f-stop were lower it would be heavier and more costly. Overall, awesome lens...producing awesome images.
Pros: Photos are sharp, bokeh is good, and it is light enough to hand hold.
Cons: f4.5-5.6 and bokeh could be a little better.

A solid lens for the money.

If you are looking for a native lens for your Sony Alpha camera, that will give you some reach, this is the lens. The lens is geared more for handheld shots in bright light. The image stabilization is excellent. It allows you to shoot hand held with a much lower shutter speed than you normally would with a lens with this kind of reach. That is important because of the slower minimum aperture this lens has. This would easily be a 4 star lens in my opinion ig they included a tripod collar. When you are mounting this on a small mirrorless body, even the A7RII, it is front heavy. This is even a problem mounted on a sturdy tripod because the front wants to sag down a little, that is why I think it was designed with hand holding in bright light. The images are very good. Not as sharp as a good prime, but not bad. I plan on using this to shoot vintage auto racing.
Pros: Size, 300mm reach, silent focus and image quality.
Cons: Needs adequate light. Without a tripod collar, it is off balanced when placed on a tripod.

I have been delighted with this lens. Great clarity, fast focusing, surprisingly light. It is a wonderful match with the Sony a7R. It is excellent for wildlife shots and also a good portrait lens.
