YOU GOTTA GET ONE!!!

Great Lens! I had the 100-400 G-Master Sony lens and had trouble getting sharp auto focus images (manual focus was great), but this lens gets me very sharp auto focus images without any problems . The internal zoom is a huge plus (as I always hike with the lens and camera attached to my tripod and slung over my shoulder). With the 100-400, hiking like that I experienced the problem of lens creep. No longer an issue. Truth to tell this is a large and heavy lens, but for a nature photo enthusiast it is a must. I highly recommend this lens. And the folks at Crutchfield are the best.
Pros: Sharp images. Internal Zooming. Great Price.
Cons: Weight. Size.

This is a great lens for nature photography when combined with A7R IV and A9 II. Fast focus and sharp images. Not too heavy, fits in International roller bag with body, lens, and hood on.

Sony made the right compromise to keep the price reasonable. Buy This

First off, I debated between 4 and 5 stars, but ultimately, what you get for the price is extraordinary. This lens is well built, and extremely sharp. The max aperture at F6.3 can be challenging in poor light situations, but the OSS makes its manageable at lower shutter speeds. The focus is fast, although initial lock on if previously focused at a drastically different distance can be slow. Once locked though it won't let go. The weight is a little high, but again, at this price, they had to cut cost somewhere and I'm glad it wasn't in optical quality. The zoom and focus are all internal so this won't suffer from 'dust pump' issues like competing long zoom lenses. The zoom ring has nice resistance, and is a nice short throw to go from 200->600 which means you don't have to twist into an awkward position to zoom. It also means balance on a gimbal stays well centered. If you are looking for reach for wildlife our daytime sports, and you don't have $12000+ to drop on a 400 F2.8 or the 600 F4, you can't go wrong with this. I've included a photo next to a Sony 70-200 F2.8 OSS for size comparison. All focus comments based on using with a Sony A9
Pros: Reach, sharpness, color/contrast, short zoom throw, internal zoom
Cons: weight, initial focus lock speed, aperture
