Give your sound dimension
Using its bi-amp capability, the XS-GS1621C's crossover allows you to take full advantage of this system's 75 watt RMS rating.
Step up to a new level of sonic performance with Sony's XS-GS1621C 6-1/2" component speaker system. The package includes two 6-1/2" woofers, two 1" dome tweeters, and a pair of outboard crossovers. Each woofer features a rigid, reinforced special Kevlar that delivers focused midrange and strong midbass punch, even during high-volume playback. A tough rubber surround supports the cone, so this speaker will stand up to the inevitable abuse that awaits all car speakers.
And if you crank old favorites through these speakers, the separate 1" synthetic fiber dome tweeter will reveal the natural detail that your factory speakers couldn't even hope to reproduce.
Included external 2-way crossovers allow you to get cleaner highs and fuller lows by sending the appropriate frequencies to the woofer and tweeter. Sony also provides two mounting options, so you can install your tweeters closer to your ears to achieve the best possible sound staging for your car. With that kind of powerful imaging, you might find yourself taking the long way home.
They look good too
If you're planning on a custom installation, Sony includes refined, black grilles for seamless integration into most car interiors. Sony has also reduced the overall mounting depth, making this system a great fit for more vehicles. These component speakers are protected by the GS Series 3-year warranty, and they'll handle up to 120 watts RMS – so go ahead and rock out.
Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Sony XS-GS1621C reviews
No compatible for my car was a lie

Replaced a set of Infinity coaxial speakers. Also ran new 16 ga OFC wire. Installation took an entire day because running the new wire was a PITA. I don't actually know what the wire contributes since I didn't control for that variable. Oh well. Crutchfield stated these would not fit my car but I made a simple adapter ring that allowed me to fit the woofers onto the factory brackets and ten minutes with a Dremel allowed me to snap the tweeters into the factory brackets. I'm driving these with a Sony MEX-GS620BT head unit and an Audio Control ACM4.300 amp. The speakers sound excellent. Highs sparkle without being glassy, unless the recording is glassy (1980's vocals). Lows are full and impactful. Sustained notes are really sustained, they don't just disappear. Vocalists are right there in the car, although still a bit electronic sounding. The soundstage is wide if not real deep, but still deeper than the Infinitys could manage. Overall a full and engaging sound, well worth the money.

I blew out the crossover on two of my Infinity Perfect 6.1 speakers into the kick panel of my Silverado and replaced them with these. Wow much improved sound with the tweets up in the windshield. No more harsh highs from the Infinitys making it uncomfortable to listen to. I still have one set hooked up in front but the tweeter in the door is great for emphasizing the super highs. Most times the Infinitys are low though so I can hear these babies. I did have some resonance in these at about 100 Hz but cut that in the amp crossover and good to go.
Pros: Not too bright, sturdy grille
Cons: 100Hz resonance

Bought these at the recommendation from a friend. These are great. I wasn't expecting to have to wire the crossovers but the effort was well worth it.
Pros: great sound

These speakers are awesome. Put these in my 15 Mustang with a stock base factory radio. World of a difference. These speakers are perfect for the stock setup. They sound magnificent and the bass thumps even at full volume still no distortion. I can't wait to put an amp and sound processor to really drive them. The crossover is perfect for the Mustang since it has 2 separate inputs for the tweeters and woofers. I originally tried a different set of component speakers with a crossover that had only 1 input with 2 outputs and sounded like garbage. Just buy these speakers. Sony did a solid job at this price point.

These are great and greatly improved the audio quality in my 2008 Toyota Rav 4.
Pros: These sound great compared to the tiny stock speakers in my Rav 4. I only installed the woofers though, since the tweeters require re-wiring from the head unit.
Cons: They do distort a bit if you are cranking your favorite song. I Prefer metal and these have a little trouble keeping up with some of the music at a loud volume. The mounting hardware that came with them is also extremely cheap, and you will more than likely need to visit your hardware store to get new nuts and bolts for the brackets that fit your vehicle.

Wow you can really tell the difference in the speakers. Punchy mid bass sound and great highs. Even more of a thumpy sound when combine with a amp. And with it added bi-amping capacity you can really add some juice to the woofer for punchy bass and to the tweeters for crispy highs.
Pros: Great sounding midbass and lows. Bi-amping adds a lot of possibly to increase the overall performance of the component speakers. Nice design too.
Cons: While the speakers produce great mids it can over produce high notes if you put it on high pass on a amp too. But adding a Sony subwoofer and lowering the setting a little and you got a performance sounding system.

I wired two sets of these components speakers in my 2004 lancer. Powered by a Sony g series stereo. Completely destroys the stock set up. The tweeters have such clarity that at times I have to turn down because some highs hurt my ears. The mid bass speaker thumps good just right to me. Doesn't compete with my p3 tens. If you like music at high volumes these are for you
Pros: Great quality construction, 3 year warranty.
Cons: The price is a little steep

Woofer Cones: The XS-GS1621C woofers use an MRC cone (Mica Reinforced Cellular glass fiber composite) with Kevlar to reduce weight and increase rigidity, delivering full bass response.
Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, each woofer uses a rubber surround.
Tweeters: The tweeters are 1" soft synthetic fabric domes. They can be flush mounted, surface mounted, or surface mounted at an angle using the included housings.
Tweeter Mounting Dimensions:
|Frame Width||Frame Length||Cutout Diameter||Mounting Height||Mounting Depth|
|Flat Surface Mount||2"||2"||N/A||1"||Screw Depth|
|Angled Surface Mount||2"||2.25"||N/A||1.17"||Screw Depth|
Crossovers: Each crossover has high-pass and low-pass outputs with a 5 kHz crossover point. The high-pass slope is 12 dB/octave and the low-pass slope is 6 dB/octave. A switch inside each crossover allows you to set the tweeter output level according to your system requirements and personal preference; choose 0 dB (factory setting) or -3dB. The inputs and outputs are screw terminals; they will accommodate bare wire or spade connectors up to 0.315" wide. There are two mounting holes in the base of each crossover.
Bi-amp Inputs: The 2-way crossovers have separate inputs for the woofer and tweeter; this lets you drive the system with dedicated power for the separate speaker elements, instead of sharing power. If the system is powered using only two amplifier channels, the woofer and tweeter inputs should be shorted together.
- Length: 4.75"
- Width: 2.7"
- Height: 1.2"
Mounting: The speakers can be easily mounted in a variety of 6-3/4" applications. Given the required cutout, they will also fit into the opening for a typical 6-1/2" speaker (approximately 5" diameter) but the screw hole pattern is larger than a standard 6-1/2", so new holes would have to be drilled.
Specification Note: Sony's rated power spec for the XS-GS1621C is 75 watts (derived using IEC 60268-5 standards). In the manual they also list the CEA 2031 compliant RMS power as 120 watts. We've adopted the 120 watt RMS rating because CEA 2031 is the more common rating system.
