Love the radio but it doesn't fit my car.

I love the radio, it sounds great and the bass boost is a plus. I replaced the factory radio in my 2004 Jaguar X TYPE. The Sony is much more powerful with its built in class D amplifier. My only problem was the installation. The Jaguar radio's double din has the amp on the bottom and the top is clear. The amp on the Sony sticks out on the top and the bottom is clear so it didn't seat right , about 2 inches out too far because of a large piece metal that's in the way. I had to use plastic spacers to build it out. It took five hours to figure it out..It looks really good but the ash tray can't be accessed. Not really a problem being I never smoked. Crutchfield did a great job except for recommending the wrong radio. Please make sure to fix this. Your pre installed wiring harness was perfect. Everything worked including the steering wheel controls !

Don't Let the 3 Stars Fool you If this were a perfect Deck I would give it more Stars....These days you are Hard pressed to spend over $300 for a Decent Car System and this being a Middle of the road Price wise Deck it is a Great Value....... You can Get the same Amp and Sony great Sound from the single Din Model for about $100 but if you can fit the Double Din WX-GS920BH in your Dash Go for it, It Puts on a impressive Dare I say Borderline on "Annoying" Light-Show (Even Cooler and more Annoying At Night) Which can be Customized/Frozen/Turned Off and If you are Like the Average Joe you will most likely only use 20-30% of its total Features..... It is a great Deck and Despite Cons Below Would Recommend and/or Buy another One .... Paid $228 on Sale Arrived Quick.....On Board Sony Amp is better than most Goes from 0-50 on the volume and cranked it is not as loud as you would expect from 45Wx4RMS (.1% 1W 1M) or 100Wx4Peak.... But does not Distort Much Even at 50......... add a powered Sub to you System and Then you are talking BOOM BOOM Baby BOOM........

Pros: Great Sound Great appearance center Volume Knob(Most Used) Plenty of connectivity. Super Great Value, Same Level of Car deck would have cost you $1000+ 25yrs ago.....

Cons: Limits and instructions in Manual Lacking. It is a current Model Deck But the Manual does not tell you it only Supports up to a 16GB FlashDrive. I do not know about the rest of you but I would have to have 20+ 16GB drives to fit all my Music... What am I supposed to make a Necklace out of them and mark them all somehow to keep them Straight or something?? Plus took me many different try's to get rid of the Annoying Demo Mode I Finally looked online, took4 different methods to get it to Stop.

Sound is great, replaced JBL head unit in Sequoia and bypassed the factory amp. The Sequoia has a 10 speaker JBL system. Factory amp was a 6 channel amp and the front door spears have a built in crossover between the woofer and midrange. The Sony unit is a 4 channel unit. I picked up a 2 pack of crossovers for $22 from Amazon and hid them in the console. Very satisfied.

This product fails to deliver on the feature I was planning to use the most. The USB inputs. I was going to load my entire digital music collection on a flash drive and use that instead of CDs or the radio. The Sony choked on it. The Sony is supposed to be able handle 10 thousand file. It couldn't deal with 2000 thousand. Locked up, wouldn't play what I selected and so on. A total FAIL. It can handle one CDs worth of files but that's about all. Also the NFC function for pairing Bluetooth devices doesn't work. And for a system that has more than twice amplifier power as other units its price range it does not get very load. I have volume turned up to 30 to get a reasonable volume in a car on the freeway. For a Sony product this is unacceptable. Buy something else.

Pros: lots of features. Nice big centrally located volume and control knob.

Cons: Poor quality for a Sony. Does not work correctly.

I have only used the new Sony a few times and my opinion my change a few months from now. Anyway I really like the looks and the controls. I wanted a largish knob for sound and a front USB and those were ultimately the reasons for this unit. It has plays my mp3 data files the controls are fairly intuitive. The only downside is that the internal amp seems to be weak. It is only driving 4 speakers, but I have to turn the knob robustly in order to get decent volume. I was also a bit disappointed at the lack of sensitivity when you synch the display to the sound. The display does not seem to follow the music.

Nice stereo with plenty of power. It is very simple to operate using the app, bluetooth seems to work well and the EQ settings help tune the speakers to the sound I prefer. I really like the large volume dial instead of small buttons most stereos have now. The variable colors also allowed me to perfectly match the stereo to the surrounding dash lights and it looks right at home.

Pros: powerful, useful features without being to much, nice large volume dial, app controllable.

This unit has replaced an original "premium sound system" in a '92 Mustang GT. As a senior citizen, the install was a bit challenging; but I took my time over several days with excellent results. I did place a few calls to Technical Support to validate and clarify wiring questions, and I got advise which was, at times, incomplete and/or inconsistent. However, Mr. Oakley in Virginia was my ROCK. He was very supportive, and his directives were technically accurate. I now have the ability to put the top down and listen to all of my favorite C.D.'s. I will now pursue a reasonable upgrade to my speakers. The money that I saved by doing my own install will easily offset the cost of replacing 27 year old speakers. Thank you, Crutchfield, for providing a superior level of customer service from purchase to project completion.

Pros: Selection Price Fast Delivery Install Directions (After Clarification)

Cons: Some Inconsistency/Incompletness re: Wiring Instructions. Clarified by Mr. Oakley.

Good power with plenty of options to tweak sound. Running power from battery is definitely needed. Makes my factory speakers sound great with added bass. Clear and loud with no distortion until limited by factory speakers.I have a Mazda 3 2007 and it came with subwoofers in the doors so good bass with this headunit . HD radio is a great addition to the sound quality and expands the usual radio dial choices in your area

Pros: Clean power, easy interface, nice color options and plenty of options for expanding speakers or amp

Cons: Takes a little time and automotive mechanical/electrical knowledge and tools to wire direct to battery

This radio is everything I could ask for: 45W RMS/100W Peak into each of 4 channels, multiband EQ, pre-amp outs for a sub, clean sound, USB port for my thumb drive of 15 GB (~5,700 songs by 300 artists), remote control without having to use my phone (illegal in MANY states to use a phone for ANY purpose while driving a motor vehicle), easy installation with great instructions from Crutchfield. To top it off, Hogan was a super salesman who had the answers and gave me the facts, while Dakota provided the technical info needed to troubleshoot a minor electrical problem with an attachment to the radio.

    Pros: Everything about it.

With a good set of speakers this unit sounds great, lots of volume and base, not at a subwoofer lever, but not bad at all. The real issues with this unit is the extra features not working well, one is the rear and front USB ports not functioning, but then they do, then they don't, then they do, then they don't. It has required many resets, too many. Sometimes the volume will not work, sometimes the blue tooth will not connect, this makes this unit very frustrating. I called Sony about the USB issues, and the dope who I spoke with claimed it was my phone, then claimed it was an incompatible USB cable, so I tried 4 different cables and two different phones and still had the same problems. I'm not an electronics specialist but it seems to be a programming issue, interface issue, because the phones and cables all work perfectly with all the other devices I have, computers, SONOS speakers, bluetooth speakers, surround sound system and other head units. The only reason it gets two stars is because of its sound. I bought this unit to be able to hide my USB cables with the rear connection for a windshield mounted phone cradle so I didn't have to deal with the cables hanging from the dash and head unit. Now I have the phone cradle cable and USB cables connected at the front in a factory port because you never know when the head unit connection will work. My overall feelings about Sony have changed, the customers service sucks and they just make products that limp along.

Pros: Sounds great with good speakers to utilize the power.

Cons: Extra features work poorly, randomly and erratically. It takes away from the experience of great sound while driving, a major distraction.

This unit fits my 2009 FJ Cruiser well and is an excellent upgrade from the factory unit. I purposely avoided a touch screen unit because, well - I just prefer a more traditional look and the glare is always an issue on an island. The unit powers the JL Audio C2-690x's in the front doors and the Infinity Reference REF-3932cfx's in the dash very well. Clean, clear and enough bass when it counts. Turns out the Infinity's will also fit in the rear, although snug, despite Crutchfield useful filter by car search. So I'll order another pair. Only downside is an aesthetic, wish Sony would make a head unit with the same design style as their home theater components. Solid stereo and easy to use.

    Pros:

    Cons: None worth griping about

After recently upgrading the exhaust in the car, I could barely hear the (purposely, severely under-powered) stock radio anymore. Looking for the most hassle-free way to beef-up the sound, I came across the WX-GS920BH. Having also purchased the ReadyHarness Service I couldn't believe how quickly the radio went in, and once it did I was I was instantly satisfied with the sound the additional power delivered to the stock speakers! It has tons of sound options for you to really get in there and tweak things according to taste. And there are so many input options I doubt I'll ever wind up needing all of them. The ability to pair 2 phones it a nice feature too. My only con so far is the lack of contrast with the display, but that's a minor gripe (for me) compared to the pros. Well, that and now I'm thinking about upgrading the speakers too. =) * Note - Upon purchasing, I also grabbed the additional recommended 12-guage wiring kit, but I didn't even need it - I'm not sure if the stock Lancer has a lower amp radio circuit, but mine was a 30A circuit, and seems to handle any extra power draw without issue.

Pros: Simple to install - Big sound in a small package

    Cons: Weak display brightness

I really wanted to love this head unit. The built in amplifier is really the only part about it that makes it remotely worth the price point, and the only reason this review isn't 1 star. Yes, it has plenty of power and will cleanly drive a set of good speakers to pretty high volumes. As far as function it's more like a 130ish dollar unit. I didnt think I would mind the small display, as many vehicles have a small display, but usually the scroll and I expected this would and it doesnt, not even when you first switch tracks, so half the time what's playing really cant be made out last the bands name. Also, the FM reception is very poor, stations I never had issues with using a pioneer head unit or even the factory unit come in poorly on this unit and will cut out or get muddy sounding going under overpasses. This never happened with the pioneer or the factory unit even. Very disappointed. Also after a few months the front USB port started to not charge my phone all the time. Now it doesnt work more than it does. It also occasionally has issues connecting to bluetooth devices. If I could do it again I'd go with a touchscreen pioneer unit and run a traditional 4 channel amp for my main speakers.

    Pros: Great power output

Cons: Terrible display, terrible fm reception, front USB stopped working, occasional bluetooth connectivity issues.

    Audiophile head-unit at Sony prices

Wow! What an outstanding head-unit! Lots of features, excellent sound quality, and good build quality. I'm super impressed with the power amp in this unit and for its ability to drive my separates to high levels with super clean output. It truly sounds like a discrete power amp, despite being just a head-unit. There are lots of audio features, including subwoofer controls, crossovers, EQ, bass-boost, etc. that greatly add to the audio quality. The receiver is very clean too. The CD and MP3 sections sound fantastic as well. The interface is a bit quirky requiring several menus to get to certain features, but I guess we take the good with the bad. It's a bit pricey, but this is a real audiophile head-unit for Sony prices, and way above and beyond virtually any factory radio it will replace. I'd definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking to replace their stock unit and to step up to something feature-rich, with excellent, clean, powerful sound!

Pros: Lots of audio features, true discrete power-amp volume levels, super clean sound regardless of source, and very good build quality.

Cons: Interface can be a bit quirky to navigate. Too many button presses required just to switch between sources. Included mounting screws wouldn't work with the Toyota brackets, so I had to buy my own. Filler panels didn't fit right, so I had to glue them in place.

This is one awesome head unit. The sounds this thing makes thru my Polk component system sounds light years ahead of my factory RF system. The only thing I miss from my old system is the speed sensitive volume

I bought this unit for a 2012 VW GTI. I like the head unit a lot but am not sure it is worth the money and hassle of running a dedicated power and ground wire. It sounds great and appears to push out power which is nice. I did not try running it without a dedicated power wire but I did go ahead and run power+ground and it sounds pretty good. I bought this because it has an advertised built in amp to really push my door speakers. I bought the ready harness service as well which I would highly recommend, and they left the power and ground alone but my remote wire was crimped off so I had to splice into it for the sub. Since I have a VW I bought some additional interfaces (which may be the reason for the crimped remote turn on wire) and there is a little too much in the form of wires for my liking. Behind my head unit is kind of a mess of wires. This head unit also has an additional usb and aux on the back which I did not like because it was just more wires back there, but if you are interested in this functionality it does have an additional aux and usb port. Overall I like this head unit a lot and I would encourage other shoppers to think about their goals. I think that a cheaper and simpler head unit would work fine. If you are intrigued, as I was, about the built in amp then go ahead with this head unit. I doubt you will be disappointed.

Pros: Lots of settings to tweak. (Equalizers, high pass, sub, etc.) Built in amp Sweet colors It fit

Cons: Dedicated power+ground wire installation The display is hard to see in sunlight The USB slot shouldn't be by the skip buttons in my opinion

Put this in my 06 Tacoma to upgrade the weak stock radio, Wow what a difference in power and features. Really cool display can be all colors of the rainbow. Bass boost was nice with a dedicated button to select 2 levels of boost or Off. I was planning to use the rear speaker output to power a small dual voice coil subwoofer behind the seat but I was having difficulty seeing the display in daylight. I could have installed some super dark window tint to overcome this but I opted to return this one for the XAV-AX-1000 and added the pioneer compact amp that replaced the power that I liked about this unit. If the display will work for you this is a great high power unit with a lot of sweet features at a great price. Plus you get the best tech support and customer service anywhere.

Pros: 45 watts RMS x 4. Colorful display in dim lighting

Cons: Display not too bright in daylight

I bought it primarily for it's built-in amplifier (which I hard wired to the battery of a 2012 Ford Expedition). I also replaced the front speakers with component speakers and was going to do the rears at a later time. However, once the radio was installed, it really opened up the sound of the stock rears where the stock radio hadn't. You'll have to play with the sound options to tailor a sound you'll like, but once done, you can get the volume very loud and the sound is very clear. I only have two issues with the radio: 1. When choosing modes (Tuner, CD etc), if you don't scroll fast enough, it will automatically select the one the cursor is on. A bigger issue with the radio is the illumination (as noted by other reviewers here). 2. During the daytime, you need it maxed out to be able to see the display. At night, it can be overpowering, dependent on the color you have chosen. It would be nice if they had designed it to be bright during the day and at night, to be dimmable with other dash displays. In summary, I've always had good luck with Sony products, in terms of quality and longevity and I have no doubt that I'll be happy with this purchase.

Pros: Loud, clear, lots of options

Cons: Illumination (day and night), but that may just be a personal preference

Went nicely into my 2005 Dodge Ram with the existing infinity sound system. Spend the extra and get Crutchfield to make the harness attachments for you (unless you are an expert). I put the first unit in my truck but it needed more bass, I add a powered sub and it sounds perfect. The second unit is in my car w factory subs and it sounds good to. The sound from this is marvelous. I started with Polk DB 522 speakers in back, the stock speakers in front, and an original Infinity BassLink. With that setup, the "Dynamic Sound Enhancement" (DSE) made a big improvement for some music; it made most heavy metal too trebly, but everything else (plus Iron Maiden) sounded pretty darn good. When I installed Kicker 44KSS6504 component speakers in front a couple weeks later, the higher-up tweeters were closer to really doing what the DSE simulates, so I turned that down to low. The little bit of bass distortion went away when I set the low/high pass filters both to 80hz with a mild slope (the 1 setting), and now it sounds good enough that I made a "sound quality" playlist to listen to things that really take advantage of it. Unfortunately, the user interface is as bad as the sound is good. Do not dismiss the reviews saying it's hard to read; it's very dim, and it's polarized so it disappears completely if you have polarized sunglasses. Further, it insists on displaying all the possible sources (10?), even if they aren't there. I've actually driven with nothing playing because I couldn't change to a working source while the car was moving. I was talked into a 2-DIN unit on the grounds that the UI would be better with more space, and this is the hardest to operate radio I've ever used.

Pros: Everything about the sound is great, 5 stars

Cons: The only thing about the interface that's even competent is the rubber edges on the dial. 1 star.

Love this- what an upgrade from my 13 year old Panasonic unit! XM, Bluetooth, USB, Pandora and more. The sound from this thing is amazing and can be tweaked in so many ways. Installation took me a couple of hours including running direct power from my battery. The dash kit was a breeze also and after installation everything looks almost factory. Hands-free calling is truly a blessing. The microphone is great for this and has really great call quality on the receiver's end. I couldn't be happier with this unit- I love getting in my truck for a long drive now and the daily commute is 10x more enjoyable than before.

Pros: -Amazing sound and clarity-even with 18 year old stock speakers -Easy to install -Loads of features for music playback and sound customization -Front and rear USB, Sirius ready, great mic for calling and Siri control-so many options!

Cons: -Display is slightly dated looking and the font is difficult to interpret -Display can be a little hard to see in bright daylight -The biggest con is that I didn't buy this sooner!

Pros: Powerful, good fit, seems to pick up radio stations rather well. I love the battery voltage readout display option. I had no idea it could do that. Great for running the stereo while the car is off, so you don't overdrain the battery.

Cons: I seem to have to manually search for my device even with "BT Audio auto connect- ON" setting, for Bluetooth. Also I set the display color but after about 5 minutes of not touching the dial/ buttons, it goes back to its default "rainbow setting", flashing all the colors, and self-advertising its own features instead of displaying what I told it to do.

No way this has 45 watts rms! No way! I had been eyeing this receiver for quite some time and when it went on sale I couldn't wait to get it.. the main reason I wanted this is because of the advertised 45 Watts RMS.. well let me tell you there is no way that this is 45 Watts RMS. I have owned a few amps hat was 50 Watts a channel RMS and this Sony receiver doesn't put out anywhere near that kind of power and I had it wired to the battery I did like the mega Bass that this unit has and the Bluetooth work flawlessly something that worked way better than on a Pioneer unit I have tried. I also like the USB interface it worked flawlessly but other than that there wasn't much on this receiver that I liked The dynamic stage organizer was basically just a loud button that you could use on either bass mid or high and like every other receiver the display was hard to see in the sun but it was a little bit better than other units I have tried. Now if this receiver had 45 Watts a channel I would have bumped it up to four stars and I probably would have kept it but I probably still wouldn't have been that happy with it. Maybe I got a bad unit to me that would be the only way to explain the lack of power that it put out. Tried a Pioneer and I didn't like it so now I've tried a Sony and I didn't like it. I guess I'm going to give it one last shot with a JVC unit.

Pros: USB worked great.. Bluetooth paired my phone easily. Extra Bass feature works good

Cons: Again no way it's even close to 45 watts rms Avg sound..lack of any easy EQ (low, mid, treble) none of the sound features made it sound better.

Unit installed in 2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS to power 4 Memphis 6.5 In coaxial and 2 one inch tweeters in factory locations. First, the Elantra has a 20 amp circuit protecting the factory radio so therorectically, this 15 amp radio would have been fine on the existing circuit and was initially wired using the Metra Wire harness adapter. However, upon running the unit it seemed to want a more dedicated power and ground as the unit reset on its own a couple of times. I then wired a dedicated 12 gauge power, 15 amp in line fuse and 12 gauge ground directly to the unit. WOW night and day difference. This unit is for all purposes an Class D amp providing 45 RMS 100 max to the speakers and it rocks. Very happy with performance and clean sound. Do it right and get the Crutchfield 12 gauge amp install kit and wire this thing with dedicated power/ground to fully get everything out of it.

This head unit costs a pretty penny, but it sports a clean, easy to use display and a powerful built in amp. This unit produces incredibly rich and full sound with the Rockford Fosgate R165X3 speakers I previously installed in the doors. Thanks to the custom EQ tuning ability of this unit, I can hear instruments and details that were absent when my Rockfords were driven off the stock radio. The Bass Boost button actually works and is handy for easy bass adjustment when you listen to a variety of music like I do. Bluetooth audio streaming and calling are seamless and sound great. The built-in HD radio tuner is also nice to have and produces noticeably more dynamic music from the radio. I ran a dedicated 12 gauge power wire directly from the battery to the yellow power input lead. I also used a dedicated 12 gauge ground wire from the black wire in the head unit's pigtail to the metal chassis at the bottom of the center console. According to Sony, this allows the unit to maintain peak performance during full-power operation. It is an amplifier after all. SILVERADO/SIERRA OWNERS- I had to cut a 2 x 2 inch hole in the plastic rear sub-dash to fit my RCA pre-outs to add my powered sub (see picture below). The head unit bottomed out on that plastic sub-dash with the RCAs plugged in the back of the head unit. I believe this may be necessary even if you don't plan on using the pre-outs due to the position of the antenna input. It's not difficult, but ye be warned!

Pros: Powerful high quality sound sound, clean display with large buttons and screen, built-in HD radio tuner

Cons: Needs dedicated power and ground wires for peak performance (I'm not sure that's really a con).

This unit is absolutely AMAZING!!! It has EVERYTHING!!! HD Radio, Bluetooth, Pandora, CD, USB, high output., and outstanding sound quality! I paired it with Kenwood 6.5" performance series and Kicker slim fit speakers in my '93 Corvette. I love this stereo so much I just installed my second one in my '98 Blazer. I have it paired with the same Kenwood 6.5" PS speakers in the doors and 4x6 speakers in the dash. Simply amazing! Now I need to get another car to put a third one in! Take it from an audiophile - this radio is outstanding!!! Get one and get it from Crutchfield - outstanding service and value!

Pros: Outstanding sound quality AND power!!! Plus all the normal features (Bluetooth, USB, etc.) and THEN some (HD Tuner, CD player, etc.).

Easy install in a 2003 Volvo S60. Great sound. Menus and controls are fairly straightforward. Voice calling works with apple and android. Double DIN so with METRA trim plate, I lost a small cubby hole.

    Pros: Price, Power, features, inputs

Cons: The display is hard to read under most conditions. The top of the 3 lines is locked into showing input source. Scrolling of information isn't great. The HD radio cuts in and out but the radio selects whether it's FM or FM carrier HD.

At first I did not have the interface usb connection because for 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 truck because the harness that they sent was usb micro and the usb from truck was usb mini. I was going to send radio back. I decided to keep the radio and I bought a usb mini female to usb micro male cable. The hardest part of installation was running +wire from battery to radio because you need 15 amp fuse and the factory radio is fused for 10 amps. The harness also has two connectors that are the same 12 pins. One has 5 wires in it and the other has 12 wires in it, make sure you use the one with 12 wires to interface because if you don't you will not get power to radio. If you want XM you will need to buy SiriusXM SXV300v1 Connect Vehicle Tuner Kit for Satellite Radio and iDatalink Maestro ADS-HRN-ANT-SAT1 SAT 1 OEM Farka to Aftermarket Satellite adaptor. The radio looks and sounds great! I am glad that I kept the radio. Thanks

Pros: Great radio for the price lots and bells and whistles!

Cons: Because of 15 amp requirement you need to run power cable directly to battery because most factory radios are fused for 10 amps.

This Sony car stereo is awesome! It has everything you could ever want...HD Radio, CD, Bluetooth, Audio In, USB inputs. The only thing it does not have is navigation and I did not care if it did. I am an audiophile and I can honestly say that the sound is incredible - I have it driving Kenwood 6.5" performance series speakers in the rear and 5.25" Kicker shallow-mounts in the front of my 1993 Corvette. I was hesitant to replace my factory unit as I like the OEM look. But it was starting to fail and I need my tunes when cruising! I am so glad I decided to replace the stock unit and could not be happier with this Sony unit! It even has custom colors so you can have the display match the colors of your car's interior lights. I HIGHLY recommend this unit.

Pros: Everything - all the audio sources, sound quality, built-in amp, display, ease of use, remote.

    Cons: None!

The sound is great and it has plenty of power. I was happy with the simplicity of the factory stereo but wanted better sound. I chose the Sony because it had real buttons and a clock display. Didn't think I would use half of the features but found out they are really nice to fine tune things. I paired this with my existing aftermarket speakers and added a sound ordinance B-8PTD powered sub at the same time. The end result is far better than expected and makes my daily commute much more enjoyable.

Pros: Great sound and plenty of power

Cons: Menus get a little deep and you have to back all of the way out of them to change the volume

Bought as a gift for my wife. It will take her a while to learn all the functions but so far she likes it a lot. She is used to burning CD's with her music and I now have her using the USB drive which I have loaded with over 1800 songs. The unit works very well and with 45 watts x 4 I did not need to install a separate amplifier. The color choices on the radio are extensive and everything is clear to view. The radio sounds clean paired with the Kicker 6x8 speakers I installed in the front doors. This radio has a lot of different settings and adjustments to allow you to tune it and so far it sounds very good on every source we have used. HD radio built in is also a plus. I have always liked Sony and this one does not disappoint !

I did a lot of research related to quality, reliability, and overall performance before hitting the "buy" button for this receiver at Crutchfield. With the instructions provided installation was a breeze, virtually plug and play. The 100 watts per channel really wakes up my OEM speakers. It's amazing to hear high notes and midrange in music similar to the depth of uncompressed sound in vinyl. HD radio is awesome! All of the submenus are easily found by pressing the large adjustment knob. The receiver has a music decompression feature, which is great. Sony products are long lasting and virtually trouble free.

Pros: The analog dial for volume lets me turn the music up or down in two seconds without taking my eyes off the road. The handheld remote is nice. The equalizer with 10 presets is wonderful, and it can be customized. Custom colors and fonts. The amp REALLY packs a punch, even with OEM speakers. The EXTRA BASS button adds oomph when needed. I thought that this would be superfluous - it isn't. Music clarity on both the HD radio and CD player is amazing.

Cons: None at present. It takes awhile to become familiar with ALL of the multitude of features.

After much deliberation I chose this Sony unit and could not be more pleased with my choice. Thank you, Sony, for producing a stereo for music lovers uninterested in having another iteration of their smartphone in their dash. The simple, clean design, intuitive menus, and truly rocking sound are beyond my expectations. I was never happy with my stock stereo in my 2014 Impreza and finally got around to replacing it. The difference is night and day. Even pre-speaker-upgrade, which is next, the array of staging and equalizer options transformed the sound from muddy music on the floor to a full, balanced spectrum. Within days of installation I was comfortable with all the controls and had all the settings to my liking. My only complaints are very minor: the integrated Pandora app is very finicky, although this could be related to my phone. It is easier to stick to the Bluetooth channel and play Pandora that way. The dedicated 'Extra Bass' button is just silly - wish it was something more useful. That's it. This receiver has made listening to music in my car a pleasure once again. Crutchfield provided impeccable service from selection to shipment. Thrilled with this purchase!

Works great. The only negative about the radio is the brightness could be better. Easy to run menus. Definitely pay to have all your wires pre-connected by Crutchfield. You will have to disconnect and use the yellow and black wires to run directly to the chassis and battery after they're done though. Would definitely recommend Crutchfield and the product.Four F1 50 owners run your positive wire over the fender well and underneath the car and up through the floor by the hinge point of the door jam picture included.

Pros: Easy install, lots of menus, lots of sound options,

I can find nothing I do not like about this receiver. Power is great and sound is great (though I would not call myself an audiophile). One big reason I bought this unit was that I wanted a clean look without a million buttons. Some companies figure you have a double din face so you should double the buttons! There are quite enough buttons to do what you need to do, and the menus are easy to figure out. Strongly recommend. Great unit.

Pros: -Great power -Super clean look -Easy to understand menus

Cons: The only thing that is close to a con is that the dimming is not continuous. In other words, when you turn on your lights the unit does dim, but does not adjust from there when you adjust your dash lights up or down with your normal dimmer. This is really pretty minor.

I installed this into a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. Prior to this I was using the stock head unit and an Alpine KTP-445U; this setup started giving me problems so I decided to make a change. This head unit is quite powerful; it has the same amperage as the KTP-445U and is equally as loud. This unit does not have as crisp as a sound as my old setup; but its has ample equalizer settings (including good presets) to find that sweet spot. The best thing about this head unit is that I now hear instruments and sounds in the music that I did not hear before; clearly this unit processes digital music much more accurately than my old setup. This is a great unit. I love the power, the sound stage, and the adjustability of the lighting (many options here). The menus are easy to navigate and it is much quicker than my old UConnect (MOPAR) unit. Bluetooth is clear and as a bonus I was able to snap the microphone into the same location where my stock microphone was. The only thing that I miss is the voice commands that my old unit had...but I can live with that. If you like Bass; then you will definitely like this unit. If you don't like Bass, you will probably still like this unit since it adjusts to your liking quite well. I really can't complain about this unit right now; it is everything that I was looking for. I'm still amazed at how much power it has; you would think I have an external amplifier if you heard it.

Pros: Lots of Power Amazing options to customize colors Processes sound very accurately (CD, USB) Easy to navigate menus

Cons: No voice control for music selections (ie. USB drive selecting artists, songs, etc.)

I wanted to like this stereo, I really did, but I am returning it to Crutchfield. Firstly, I never installed it in my car or listened to the outputs - I simply connected it to my regulated 14V power supply and browsed the various menus and features. So, I can't speak to how it sounds. Given the power output and extensive crossovers and time alignment, I expect it to sound as good as any similar featured stereo connected to a quality 40 x 4 separate amplifier. The variable color is great, and all the lines of color give it sort of a 'Tron' look to it, which I think is cool - much better than flashy chrome or gaudy LCD animations. Operationally I feel it's not up to par, or for that matter, up to my factory stereo (2011 KIA Sedona). There are three lines of text - which I thought hey, one line for Artist, one for Album, and one for Song Title, right? WRONG. The top line only displays the current input - so it's wasted. Further, all three lines are uppercase only, and display just 11 characters. The second and third lines display the MP3 tag - but only part of it. Even with autoscroll engaged, it will only scroll when it first changes to a new track - then never again unless you hit DSPL. And, since there's only two lines, you have to hit DSPL to change between two of the three tag labels. Sony stupidly put the USB port in between the track up/down buttons above and below the port. So if a thumb drive is inserted, the buttons are all but useless. Would write more but no space.

Pros: Colors are very pure and look great. Volume knob a great size with nice rubber. You can eliminate external amplifier for front and rear speakers, with the built in crossovers and clean high power. Unit fits in a single DIN size chassis with double DIN face, leaves plenty of space for wiring and adapters. HD Radio tuner built-in. Face design mostly lacks bling and should look ok in certain vehicles. Buttons are relatively large and with a good feel.

Cons: MP3 Tag display horribly implemented. Button functions above the numbers are not readable at night (and very tiny, so not that good in the day, either). Volume knob too close to bottom of unit - use of knob interferes with dash kit. Unit didn't come with any mounting screws - referred you to use dash kit hardware, dash kit had none, said to use screws supplied with stereo. ?!? Track > buttons unusable with thumb drive in front USB port. REALLY?? Gloss finish will show lots of fin

After being a loyal Crutchfield audio equipment buyer for over 20 years, I have to say this is the best piece of equipment I have bought. I am simply amazed at the clarity of the mid-range which had been muddled, at volume, with my other two radios with external amps using the same speakers in the same car. Sony's marketing is not doing this product justice as it is unbelievable. Maybe they just can't find the words. My 1997 Camaro has all four speakers too close to the floor and one unadvertised features you can enable on this radio is to artificially raise the speakers to a higher level. Low, Mid, and High are the three ranges with Off being the default. It sounds crazy but really works. It sounds like the speakers are at the same level as your ears and it has no unpleasant artifacts that I could notice. Like all Crutchfield stuff, it took about 15 minutes to solder and properly heat-shrink the radio connector to the Crutchfield supplied connect (about 15 wires) and that was the longest part of the install. I don't like using crimps although that is acceptable to do. The wire colors on both pieces matched up so it was easy to get it right. They also offer a service to do that part for you if you don't want to do it. After that it is plug and play. Given all the options and my already installed Sony-amplified homemade subwoofer, it took about 2 hours to get it sounding the best including balancing the HPF and LPF filters to the 4 speakers and the subwoofer.

Pros: Once you enter a menu, you stay there indefinitely so there is plenty of time to make minor adjustments while driving. Many great features are not listed in the description. Expensive but worth every penny (is that a pro or a con?). More than enough power to run 4 good speakers. If used with a separately powered subwoofer you should be happy with the total sound. Great interface that is mostly intuitive.

Cons: It took me a while to find out where the "Back" button was located. A few oddball menu items are not intuitive so you will have to read the manual to figure out what they do.

Absolutely love it! I chose this Radio for 2 main reasons but ended up getting way more than I expected. 1. I like Sony, I have been an electronics maintenance technician for over 20 years, and I know what brands break and what brands don't. 2. I like HD Radio. That said I think Sony designed this receiver specifically for me. I don't like touch screens, call me old school but I prefer hard buttons, this receiver has large easy to use hard buttons, but still has an easy to read display. I had planned on buying a micro Amp to mount in the dash, no longer have to do that. 45 watts RMS per channel is good enough for me and is about the same as the micro amps are pushing. I was also planning on adding a Kicker powered sub, the bass from this receiver is so good that now I'm debating whether to do that or not. Another big plus for me is the AOA 2.0- compatible USB which allows me to play Hi-Res Audio via USB from my Sony Xperia Z5 cell phone. So Far the Sony Music Center App works flawlessly. Another feature that I found interesting is it allows you to display your cars Battery Voltage on the display.

Pros: 45 W / channel RMS, AOA 2.0- compatible USB, Plays FLAC files, Receives the most distant stations clearer than any receiver I have ever owned.

Cons: Would have been nice to have a full size double din and added a 3+ CD changer

High-Power Digital Amplifier: A built-in 4-channel class-D amplifier delivers up to a maximum of 40 watts RMS (100 watts Peak) of  power per channel; approximately twice that of most head units, and comparable to the power output of a compact, external digital amplifier. The built-in class-D amp delivers huge power with minimal interference, for audio that's crystal clear even at its loudest.

Note: Because of its high-powered amplifier design, the Sony WX-GS920BH does require that a separate +12V constant power wire is run to the battery with a separate inline 15A fuse in vehicles with lower than a 15A fuse protecting the factory radio. Check out the "Accessories" tab for wiring kit. This Sony high-powered receiver won't work in systems where an outboard factory amplifier is still active.

CTA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the Sony WX-GS920BH are compliant with the CTA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the WX-GS920BH are as follows:

    • Continuous Power Output: 40 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Peak Power Output: 100 watts x 4-channels (400 total watts)

6ch/5V Preouts + Sub Control: The Sony WX-GS920BH is equipped with 5-volt Front, Rear, & Sub preouts giving you the ability to connect external amplifiers to your car stereo system. The unit's subwoofer preout is non-fading. You can adjust the subwoofer preout's volume level independently from the head unit's volume control from -10 to +10 in 1dB increments. In addition, you can select the phase of the subwoofer output from Normal or Reverse.

Note: You can connect a subwoofer to this head unit without the need of a separate power amplifier. Simply connect a single subwoofer (4-8 ohm) directly to head unit's left or right rear speaker leads (but not both). Approximate power output for the direct subwoofer connection is 60 watts RMS. Same subwoofer controls apply.

High-Pass & Low Pass Crossovers: The front & rear speaker outputs offer a selectable high-pass crossover frequency of 50Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, or Off. You can also adjust the slope (1/2/3) of the high-pass crossover. The subwoofer preamp output features a low pass filter with a selectable cut-off frequency of 50Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, or Off. You can also adjust the slope (1/2/3) of the low-pass crossover.

Advanced Sound Engine: Sony's Advanced Sound Engine creates an ideal in-car soundfield with digital signal processing. Advanced Sound Engine contains the following features - ClearAudio+, EQ10,  Listening Position/Time Alignment, Dynamic Stage Organizer (DSO), Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE), Extra Bass, & RBE  (Rear Bass Enhancement), & Advanced Auto Volume (AAV).

    • ClearAudio+: ClearAudio+ reproduces sound by optimizing the digital signal with the Sony recommended sound settings.
    • EQ10: Select from a variety of EQ presets like R&B, Rock, Pop, Dance, Hip-Hop, Electronic, Jazz, Soul, Country, Custom, or Off (Flat). The Custom mode allows you to make your own equalizer settings. You can adjust the level (+/-6dB) of 10 different frequency bands - Band1 (32Hz), Band2 (63Hz), Band3 (125Hz), Band4 (250Hz), Band5 (500Hz), Band6 (1khz), Band7 (2khz), Band8 (4kHz), Band9 (8kHz), and Band10 (16kHz).
    • Listening Position & Time Alignment: This unit can change the localization of sound by delaying the sound output from each speaker and subwoofer to suit your position, giving you the feeling of being in the center of the soundfield wherever you sit in the car. The options for the Listening Positions are - Front Left, Front Right, Front Center, All, Custom, or Off. The Custom mode allows you to precisely calibrate the output from each speaker so that the sound from all speakers reaches the listener at the same time using Sony's Music Center app on your Apple iOS or Android device. You can also set the subwoofer distance of the subwoofer to Near, Normal, or Far.
    • Dynamic Stage Organizer (DSO): Sound waves are directional, so if your speakers are in your doors or under your dash, the audio may seem muddy or unclear. Dynamic Stage Organizer (DSO) adjusts the signal, improving the stereo positioning so music sounds like it's coming from the dashboard
    • Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE): DSEE improves digitally compressed music files by restoring high frequencies lost in the compression process.
    • ExtraBass: Activate ExtraBass at the touch of a button for an instant, low-end boost. Unlike conventional bass boosters, ExtraBass minimizes distortion at all volume levels by automatically adjusting frequency and gain to their optimal positions.
    • Rear Bass Enhancer (RBE): RBE enhances the bass sound by applying the low-pass filter setting to the rear speakers. This function allows the rear speakers to work as a subwoofer even if there is no subwoofer connected.
    • Advanced Auto Volume (AAV): This feature adjusts the playback volume level of all playback sources to the optimum level.

Beep Tone: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The Sony WX-GS920BH is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (version 3.0), allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.6 (Hands Free Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.3 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.5 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Sony WX-GS920BH.

Multi-Device Pairing w/ Dual-Phone Connection: Up to nine Bluetooth-compatible devices can be paired to this receiver. You are even able to keep two Bluetooth-enabled devices connected at the same time (two phones or a phone and a audio player). Once an already paired device is in close proximity to the Sony receiver, the two units will automatically re-connect. The head unit offers three pairing modes - SSP, NFC, & USB Auto.

    • Simple Secure Pairing: With Simple Secure Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the Sony WX-GS920BH without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings.
    • Near Field Communication (for Android): Android (OS 4.0+) smartphones that have Near Field Communication (NFC) pair simply by touching the Android device's NFC tag to the head unit's NFC tag on its rotary-knob. For older Android smartphones that don't have OS 4.0 or better installed, download the NFC Easy Connect app from Google Play to use the head unit's NFC pairing function.
    • USB Auto (for iPhone): You can pair your Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) by simply connecting it to the Sony head unit via USB and activating the Bluetooth function on your Apple device.

Hands-Free Communication w/ External Mic: The Sony WX-GS920BH supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled cell-phone (such as your iPhone or Android smartphone). Bluetooth hands-free communication helps to minimize distraction while driving by allowing you to control your mobile phone from the head unit, so you don't have to touch your mobile phone. The controls of the WX-GS920BH can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also features an external microphone (featuring adjustable gain), so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers. And thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the WX-GS920BH provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls.

    • Answering Calls: Incoming calls can be answered manually or automatically (between 3-10 seconds) through the Sony head unit, while the ring tone is output from your car speakers and the caller's name or phone number is displayed on the head unit's LCD. Incoming calls can also be rejected if desired.
    • Dialing a Number: Using the WX-GS920BH, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways.
      • Entering Phone #: Allows you to manually dial a phone number using the unit's control dial.
      • Preset Dial: You can store up to 6 contacts in the preset dial for quick dialing.
      • Phone Book: You can store up to 1,000 contacts in the unit's phone book. Up to a 40 character name can be input for each contact.
      • Call History: The unit will store the last 20 calls, allowing you to select a previous phone number quickly from the list.
      • Voice Dial: You can make a call using the voice tags stored on your connected cellular phone.
      • Redial: Use to easily redial the last number you called.

Note: During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

External Mic: The external wired microphone offers improved audio quality versus an integrated microphone, so you can be heard easier over noisy traffic and road noise. You can adjust the level of the microphone without affecting the other sources. The external microphone features an attached 11' cable terminated by a right-angle 3.5mm connector which plugs into the mic input on the rear-panel of the head unit. The microphone comes with a mounting bracket which can be clipped to your vehicle's sun-visor or taped to your dash.
Note: The external microphone measures 0.525" (diameter) x 1.515" (depth).

Wireless Audio Streaming (w/ AAC): The Sony WX-GS920BH supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or audio player, plus song/artist information display. You are able to stream your stored music library on your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, as well as music apps downloaded on your smartphone to the Sony WX-GS920BH for playback.

    • SBC + AAC Codecs: In addition to support for the standard SBC Bluetooth audio codec, the WX-GS920BH offers support of AAC.  By supporting AAC, the WX-GS920BH offers better audio performance of the music streamed from your Apple iPod, iPhone, or iPad.
    • Music Browsing: In addition to basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip, Random/Repeat) for both stored music and music apps, the WX-GS920BH provides a Search List of your stored music by Category or Playlist (AVRCP 1.4 phones only; which includes Android 4.0+ and iPhone 5.0+).
    • Song/Artist Information: The head unit will also display your stored music and music app's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (not compatible with all apps).
Note: When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.

Siri Eyes Free Control (for iPhone): When paired and connected to an iPhone with Siri via Bluetooth, the Sony WX-GS920BH has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. Simply activate the "voice dial" function on the WX-GS920BH to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the head unit and its microphone. You can even ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone with Siri. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

Note: The head unit will only display hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the WX-GS920BH; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone).

    Android & iPhone Integration

Android Direct Connect via USB: The Sony WX-GS920BH enables playback of stored music and music apps on select Android smartphones through its front- or rear-panel USB port. The unit's USB ports will also charge your Android device while connected; the vehicle's accessory key must be set to the  'ACC' or 'On' position. There are two types of modes to choose from based on your type of Android smartphone and what content you want to listen to.

    • AOA 2.0 (Stored Music & Music Apps): The Sony WX-GS920BH supports Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0), which lets  you connect your Android smartphone (OS 4.1-7.1.2) to the WX-GS920BH's front-panel USB port and listen to stored music and select music apps from your Android device through the Sony receiver. You'll be able to control basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track. Other advanced music navigation will still be done from your Android smartphone's touchscreen. In this mode, the head unit will not display song/artist information; you'll continue to view song/artist information from the Android device's touchscreen. You'll still be able to access other functions and applications from your Android smartphone's touchscreen, while listening to music through the head unit. If you make a call or answer a call from your smartphone while listening to music in this mode, the music will pause until you are finished with the call and then start back up again.

During MTP connection, you cannot use your Android smartphone's touchscreen to control music playback and you cannot select music apps from your smartphone for playback. However, you can continue to listen to stored music on your Android smartphone through the head unit while you check your Calendar, Facebook, Texts, etc on your phone.

Note: Sony does not guarantee operation with all Android devices, regardless of operating system.

Simply connect your compatible iPod/iPhone using the cable that came with your Apple device, or purchase another Lightning-to-USB or dock-to-USB cable (sold separately) to be used in the car.

    • Music Browsing: The unit offers basic playback controls - such as Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Rewind, Previous/Next Track, and Repeat/Random. Your iPod/iPhone will remain unlocked during connection, so you can continue to control your Apple device from its touchscreen for advanced music browsing and to access additional music apps.

IR Remote: The head unit comes supplied with an IR wireless remote control (RM-X231) for easy operation. The included wireless remote allows you to control the basic functions (not Bluetooth Phone) of the Sony head unit while keeping your eyes on the road.

Steering Wheel Control Input: The head unit features a 3.5mm steering wheel remote control input that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately).

    Display Features

High-Contrast 3-Line LCD: The WX-GS920BH features a 3-line, high-contrast LCD that makes it easy to read, wherever you're sitting in the vehicle. You can adjust its brightness level from 1-10. You can also set its dimmer to Auto, On, or Off. The Auto mode dims the head unit's display automatically when you turn your vehicle's lights on (illumination wire must be connected).

Dynamic Color Illuminator (35,000 colors): Dynamic Color Illuminator lets you match the head unit's LCD & button illumination to complement your existing vehicle lighting components. You can select from 15 preset colors or a customized color (R-G-B). You can choose to use the same color for the LCD screen and button illumination, or use a separate color for each one. You can even set the head unit's LCD screen's illumination to pulse with your music.

Auto Scroll: The Auto Scroll feature allows long displayed items to scroll automatically across the display when the track is changed on a disc or device.

Display Illumination/Clock Display: Pressing the SRC/OFF button once will switch sources. Pressing and holding the SRC/OFF button for one second will turn off audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remain on. To turn the unit off completely, you must press and hold the SRC/OFF button for two seconds.

Auto Off: When installing in a vehicle without an accessory power wire at the radio location, you can set the unit to turn off all lighting after 30 minutes of the power being turned off to the head unit.

Demo Mode: The head unit's demo mode can be turned On or Off.

I've had good luck with Sony products. The built-in Class D amplifier is a big plus. I'd like to upgrade my 2007 F150 stock speakers and plan to add a small powered subwoofer with a direct hook-up to the Sony WX-GS920BH. This deck is also one of the more reasonably priced units with an HD radio tuner built-in, which I wanted. Having 2 USB and Aux. inputs is also unique. iPhone Connectivity was also a must. I decided to forgo a Car Play video deck in favor of the great audio specs on this deck. [ S  Nov 11, 2018 ]

I bought this bc it has everything I want plus more. It has an HD radio tuner, it has aux, Bluetooth, a CD player, and it has higher voltage preamp outputs. In addition it has a built in amp so I can hold off installing my amp for my mids and highs for awhile knowing I am still putting some decent power through the speakers. Overall a really good looking product and I can't wait to install it in my car [ Gabriel  Jun 05, 2018 ]

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Can the 4 channels be bridged to 2?
    [ Josiah  May 18, 2019 ]

    A
I'd say they can but it would be better to just use an amp to increase ur power needs. it would cut down the distortion from bridging. There's already a sub out so just amp it if needed.

    Q
How to tune in an HD2 channel?
    [ Meredith  Apr 23, 2018 ]
    1 answer
    A
Tune to the standard channel of the station you're looking for the HD version of; example, if you want the HD channel of say 97.5, tune to 97.5. Once at the channel wait to see if the receiver registers the channel as having an HD frequency; this may take a few seconds. You'll know if the station is broadcasting in HD because "HD" will pop up on the display. If you get the HD signal then hit the seek forward button once to change the station. If that station has a second or even third HD channel the seek function will automatically stop on the channel. At that point you can program it into your saved settings. Keep in mind though that depending on your location at the time, the receiver may not receive the HD signal in which case you'll just be able to pick up the standard signal. Hope this helps.

You all tell me this,Sony WX-GS920BH , will fit in a 2009 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner double cab 6 cylinder. My current Toyota setup has a CD changer, Amber LCD tuner and hazard lights behind a silver metal or hard plastic plate. The LCD tuner and hazard lights control are near the bottom of the plate. I guess I will have to take the whole thing off and cut it, am I correct? Thanks
    [ JDCarus  Feb 09, 2018 ]
    1 answer
    A
No, that's not correct. There is no cutting or custom modifications required when you use the proper dash mount kit for the install: https://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearch/120958214.html The required installation accessories for your truck will be discounted a combined $50 when purchased with the Sony WX-GS920BH. Q
Did you run a dedicated power wire from the battery for this unit? If so, did you ground it through the car's factory harness or did you run a dedicated ground to the car's chassis?
    [ Chase  Feb 02, 2018 ]

    A
If you read both the manual and the details on this site you will see that IF your radio circuit is protected by a fuse less than 15 Amps, you will need to run a dedicated power wire to the positive post of your battery. This is because the circuit is will not handle the amperage draw. If you want to be sure you have the best possible connection you should run a wire directly to the battery, but will be OK using the factory harness if the radio circuit is protected by a 15 Amp or greater fuse.

I used the adapter harness from Crutchfield. So I am using ignition power and ground wire from factory. Always keep it simple. Nice radio - I like it. Good Luck Ric C.

I hooked mine up to the factory harness with the steering wheel control adapter, and no other steps were needed.
    [ Matt  Feb 03, 2018 ]
    A
Nope. Wired it with the provided harnesses. No need to run additional wires from the battery. Mine works great.
    [ Freida  Feb 03, 2018 ]
    A
You shouldn't have to run a dedicated power wire from the battery. With the harness adapter you should be able to use the factory 24v power lead coming off the vehicles harness. If you're not using a harness then what you want to look for is a 24v power source that is only active when the ignition is turned to ON. If you run a dedicated line to the battery you'll end up with a constant hot that won't shut off when you turn your vehicle off thus draining the battery. If you look under your dash you should be able to find a 24v power line coming off of the ignition's wiring harness that you can tap into. I know on most vehicles there will be access ports for such a purpose already wired into the vehicle's existing harness. As for the ground, you can do either or. If you're using an adapter to connect the factory harness to the new Sony deck then you should be good as it will utilize the vehicles existing ground. Hope this helps.

I'm afraid there is no maximum "storage capacity" listed for the Sony WX-GS920BH USB port; however the owner's manual states it will recognize up to 10,000 files (tracks) from a compatible USB thumbdrive. For more details or to discuss further, please feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Thanks!

The Sony site claims for Android smartphones that this HU will "Use voice control to get directions, send messages, and play tracks on your Android smartphone." Has anyone tested this? The Crutchfield "Details" don't mention being able to access Google Maps for instance by voice and if the apps nav responses can be heard by the radio muting itself.

    A
Yes, as long as you connect via USB cable Android auto works well. Runs maps navigation off your phone on the display and directions comes through stereo.
    [ Jeff  Feb 02, 2018 ]
    A
Yes. With the Sony Music Center App installed on your Android Phone (OS 4.2+) you can integrate music, movie, navigation, and other applications that are already on your smartphone device within the Music Center app for easier access. Once an app is selected within the Music Center app, your smartphone's screen will divert to selected app. Audio of that source will be played through the WX-GS920BH; any visual data will only be displayed by your iPhone or Android device. Basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Next Track are available from the head unit; advanced control functions are still done from your smartphone device. You will find this information, and more, by clicking the "Details" tab on the stereo's main weboage and scrolling down below the "Features & Specs" table. I hope that helps.
