Wake up your boring commute with Sony's CDX-GT210 CD player. It brings MP3 and WMA music file playback to your drive time, so you can load up a couple of discs with your favorite tunes and enjoy the convenience of an in-dash jukebox. Song titles scroll across the display while the strong internal amp fires up your speakers.

When you don't have time to burn a disc, just jack your portable audio player into the front auxiliary input — it's great for listening to yesterday's downloaded podcasts. You can even adjust the level of the auxiliary source so that you don't have to turn up the volume when you switch from the radio or CD player.

Sony's acclaimed SSIR-EXA radio tuner does a great job of pulling in AM and FM stations, so your local news, sports, and weather reports will always be on hand. Detach the faceplate to protect your investment when you're parked.

    Good Receiver for the money

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The unit is pretty basic. It works as advertised. The installation kit and wiring harness were included w/o charge so it was a good deal. But the best deal is the support from Crutchfield. Before this unit arrived, I removed the old factory unit to see what the wirings looked like. Then I emailed my wiring questions to Crutchfield tech support and each time it was answered within hours. When it was time to install, there was no surprise. The whole installation starting from unpacking the box was done in less than 45 minutes and the unit worked immediately. Crutchfield support is top notch.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Its a good receiver for the price...pretty basic, but does have good sound. That annoying alarm everyone is talking about isnt so annoying. It only chirps three times then goes silent, so its just a quick reminder that if you want to remove it go ahead and do it. The installation was a bit tricky(at least for my S10). It took me about 2-3hrs to install but i had no confusion as to how to do it. Good as a replacement for your factory receiver but if your looking for performance I'd look into some of sony's higher priced models.....peace....

unit great but install a drag

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

i rate the player a 5 but the install was a 1. the player was installed in a 94 ford f150 pickup. the cables that came with the player did not help at all. made repeated trips to local shops to get right patch cords to work. could never find the right cord for the patch around old factory amp. had to use some old phone wire i had to make that final connection. stripped the wire and inserted into the factory plug then butt spliced the other end to speaker wires. total time was all day plus gas. other than that system sounds great.

    Good sound, great value!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A definite step up from the factory head that came in my 2004 Subaru. Like other reviewers, I also find the warning signal that beeps every time you shut off the ignition as a reminder to remove the face-plate extremley annoying and wish that the dimmer were connected to the vehicle's dash lighting dimmer, rather than as a function on the faceplace. However, the unit sounds great, the controls are easy to navigate while driving and the ability to plug my iPod or XM into the 1/8 jack on the front is terrific!

This deck for me works fine. It was installed in a 94' Honda Accord. Nothing fancy but it sounds better than the factory deck. Good unit for the money. The beeping at shut off is different but all is well......

Not bad for it's price however the display is plain and boring.

    Irritating functionality

Jim from The Dalles, OR on 2/7/2007

I really wanted to like this cute stereo, but I just can't tolerate it in my vehicle.<BR><BR>It has a very annoying "caution alarm" that beeps through the car speakers a few seconds after turning the ignition off - to warn the driver that he or she needs to detach the front panel to prevent theft. There is no way to turn this non-feature off. I contacted Sony technical support and they said that it cannot be disabled. I almost never remove my faceplate so as to prevent it from being lost, damaged, or broken. If it gets stolen (unlikely) - I'll just buy another one. <BR><BR>Furthermore, there is no lead for the dimmer. You can manually dim the display in a menu, but why didn't they use one of those extra unused pins in the back for the dimmer wire?"<BR>

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had to be able to listen to mp3s in my new 2007 Corolla. The CDX-GT210 does the trick - it plays mp3s on a CD-R or CD-RW (my preferred method), or you can plug your mp3 player right into the front. Very convenient.<BR><BR>I had never installed a car stereo before, but once I had the right tools, installation was easy.

    2001 Mercury Mountaineer
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The install was easy. It went in to a 2001 Mercury Mountaneer. The stereo sounds great, better then the stock unit. I highly recomned this unit. My bigest issue are the buttons are small and not lit up very well. After I get used the unit I am sure that will not be an issue. All in all I rate this very good.

Just installed the CDX-GT210 in my 2001 Subaru Outback

Robert from Boston, Mass. on 10/18/2006

    2001 Subaru Outback
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Painless (2 hour) self-install in my 2001 Outback ... the instructions where perfect ... and the wiring harness was precise. The CDX-GT210 has great sound (much better than the stock radio / 6 CD changer I've been listening to for the past 6 years). Easy to program, flashy display, intuitive controls. I have burned a ton of MP3 CDs (internet radio programs, time delayed FM off-air broadcasts, CD's, etc.) and all that I have tried worked in the unit. Next I'll try the AUX-IN with my MP3 player ... but with MP3/WMA CD support, I'll probably leave the MP3 player at home.
