If you're into high-performance boating, Sony's MEX-M100BT marine CD receiver offers all the features you want, plus the water-resistant toughness you need. This Sony's built-in amp delivers 40 watts RMS per channel, so it's like getting an outboard 4-channel amp to drive your speakers.
You can enjoy all your CDs, including homemade discs, while built-in Bluetooth and a handy front USB input give you plenty of ways to play your tunes. The specialized circuit board coating and UV-resistant front panel ensure that this receiver will stand up to life on the water.
Choose the display color that suits your mood
This marine-rated receiver features built-in Bluetooth 4.0 with Simple Secure Pairing, so you can take calls and listen to music (including your favorite Pandora channels) with minimal effort and maximum quality. NFC (Near Field Communication) technology means one-touch listening with compatible devices — simply align the devices, touch the NFC logo on this Sony's face, and pair things up. It's a very handy feature to have on a boat.
Sony's SongPal app lets you connect through Bluetooth to use voice control for finding your favorite music tracks, and to provide touchscreen control from your smartphone to find sources, access apps, and even customize your sound settings.
Better still, if you have a compatible iPhone, you can enjoy Siri Eyes Free on your boat. Just press the volume key to activate voice commands for making calls, setting up reminders, and other features. You won't even miss a text message while you're on the water — Siri Eyes Free can read your messages out loud while you're at the helm, and even let you compose responses while you're baiting a hook.
The MEX-M100BT produces plenty of power without noise or distortion, and if you like low-end thump, you'll love the Mega Bass feature. You can also customize the sound to suit your musical tastes using the built-in 10-band equalizer, selectable low- and high-pass crossovers, and other soundshaping tools. If you're planning on expanding your system in the future, you'll really appreciate the 6-channel preamp outputs.
You'll also enjoy plenty of control options with the MEX-M100BT. The intuitive front panel is easy to learn, but when you're away from the receiver, you can use your smartphone or the included wireless remote. With Passenger Control for iPhone® and iPod® devices, your guests can play DJ while you're at the helm.
This receiver also works with the SiriusXM tuner (not included), allowing you to enjoy satellite radio programming even when you're miles and miles offshore. If you're planning on expanding your system in the future, you'll really appreciate the 6-channel preamp outputs.
iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.
Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.
Important note: This marine radio is water-resistant, but we recommend mounting it in a water-resistant enclosure or using a cover for best performance.
Installation note: We recommend running a dedicated constant power wire to the battery for optimal performance from this Sony's amp. The high-powered amp won't work in systems where an outboard factory amplifier is still active.

Average Customer Review(s):
Very pleased. I installed in my Jeep Wrangler in case I get wet when the top is off. Sounds great and has gone of power to drive my speakers w/o an amp.
Pros: Great sounds. Bluetooth. Streaming audio. Gobs of power for a head unit.
Cons: None. I wouldn't have purchased if there were any.
Great sound. Lots of options. Eddy to use. Installed on motorcycle. Sounds great for the price.
This unit matched perfectly with the Polk audio speakers in our boat. Also from Crutchfield. Great customer service and tech support for installation too!
Pros: Sounds great, good looking unit.
Cons: None so far, except maybe difficult to figure out all settings and features.
I give it a 3 ONLY because I have its Power wired to my ignition switch, and not to the boat battery direct. When Marine stereos are connected directly to a boat battery, and the boat is left at the dock for a while, the low electrical draw will kill a battery. Plus, my Mercruiser Bravo III sterndrive pulls from the battery too, with its Mercathode system, to prevent corrosion. This is too much electrical draw while sitting at the dock for a few weeks at a time.... OK, all sounds good, BUT the radio's DEMO MODE is activated after every power down/power up, and is a Pain for me to deactivate each time. It's not very User Friendly for a guy like me. I've contacted Sony, and they've basically told me "too bad", after a lot of back and forth. I've contacted Crutchfield, and they're willing to work with me for a swap, even out of the 60-day period, so this review is not a Ding against Crutchfield, but it is a DING against Sony. I wish Fusion made a reasonably priced stereo that has an AUX input on the front, since their model MS-RA70 does not have this DEMO MODE feature built in, but a normal boot up screen. I'm very dissapointed in SONY.
Pros: Too many features, which I guess is good, but I don't need them all. I need Simplicity.
Cons: You can't bypass, or delete, the DEMO MODE on power up, and every time power is applied to the unit, you have to manually turn off the DEMO MODE. What a pain...for me.
Upgraded my boat's (1999 Rinker 192 Captiva BR) original unit and this provided better sound (louder and clearer) and radio reception. Good price point too.
Pros: 100 watts per channel, Good radio reception.
Cons: Menu is a little cumbersome to navigate.
Installation was extremely easy. Head unit is small, but powerful & has great range. Tremendous amount of options and look forward to listening to it for many years. Crutchfield shipped it same day and it arrived 2 days later- awesome service.
Just installed in a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. Wow...what an upgrade. I wanted something that was marine grade with some built in power. This unit fit the bill perfectly. The interface is a bit confusing, as they all are, but the Music Center (SongPal) app makes it easy.
Works great, sounds great but not super user friendly.
Great sound and no issues. Crisp and clear even at high volume. Great features.
Very nice stereo. I put it in my Race car trailer.
Installed this on my 2010 Harley Ultra. I ordered the handle bar controller adapter and a basic amp cable kit. The stereo is a huge improvement over the factory stereo and I paired this with some Alpine 6.5 speakers in the fairing and Polk DB 6.5 in the lower fairing. Now I can hear my stereo on the highway. The only thing I found I don't like is to change pandora stations I need to use the remote. I lost the auto volume feature and CB that the factory stereo had but the trade off was worth it with this stereos performance.
Looks great in my jeep and the power is awesome no need for another amp to get the great sound out of my infinity speakers
The radio installs easy Great controls
Pros: Power Sound
Chose this unit because it's rated 'Marine' and it will be placed into a Jeep Wrangler soft-top, ergo it will see some moisture. Also having an internal power amplifier was a plus for space consideration. Critique: Firstly, the manual notes not to place the unit where it gets direct water contact, meaning the marine designation applies to some parts, but not to the unit as a whole (no IP rating or sealing noted). Secondly, there is an attached, clear acetate cover, which will keep drips off, but I cut off the portion that covered the heat sink fins at the left edge of the unit. Thirdly, no cover over the CD slot. Praise: Simple installation, excellent volume, drives my Polk speakers easily from a whisper to enough to rattle the cab. Nice lighting options and plenty of features to access. Music range is very nice, and has enough that I don't need rear speakers. I will add in a powered sub using the dedicated pre-amp channel and remote turn-on lead rather than the direct connect feature from the 5 amp rear signal, but if I had a hard top, I could easily use the Sony's sub feature due to the enclosure.
Pros: High internal power rating, detachable face, moisture resistant, direct-connect sub feature
Cons: Not direct water proof
Great product! Volume can be cranked up and the sound is crystal clear. The only thing I don't like is the sound tuning, only seems to have preset sound settings or it seems you need a degree in sound engineering to fine tune yourself. Other than that, great product and easy install.
This deck is amazing, clean sound lot of power. The back list display is great. But this deck you won't be disappointed.
Awesome player, sounds great!
Overall a great product for the boat. Sound quality is very good and fairly simple to operate. Set up was pretty standard.
Great upgrade from the factory clarion head unit in our checkmate! Love all the features, and the added power, need to upgrade the 6.5 inch speakers now!
Pros: Bluetooth, big power, cool lighting features
Cons: BT Pairing sometimes tricky
awesome marine receive
Fantastic customer service, as always. Great product.
Very nice radio, sound, and quality for my 2016 Harley Road King. Great price too by getting it on sale.
Great product very simple to install and use. Sounds great with 2 speakers
Recently installed this product in my boat. The functionality of linking your Bluetooth device to the unit is little cumbersome. This is probably due to the unit allowing for Bluetooth telephone calls as well, which is not a feature I am using so it is just an extra step. Other than that it has been great.
I paired the receiver with two JL 7.7 speakers sounds awesome very satisfied
Pros: Can hear the radio while running the boat 50mph sounds great
Easy install. Awesome features. Great sound! Sony rocks!
Cons: Haven't found any yet
I installed this radio into our pontoon boat, along with 2 pairs of JL Audio MX650s and a Bazooka 10" 250w tube. The system sounds really good and I am very happy with the performance. Install of this head unit was typical for a stereo. I did notice that there was not a connection required for 12vDC for the memory, so I have to see if this means they are using nonvolatile memory to hold settings and presets. If this is the case, it will be even better, as I use a battery cutoff switch to kill power to the boat when moored at our slip to keep the battery from draining due to trickle power draws like this radio memory. In the past I had to rescan for radio stations every time we used the boat, so that may be fixed.
Pros: Easy install, really good volume, easy to setup blue tooth connectivity.
Cons: The remote really needs to be waterproof since this is a marine radio.
I tried to compare this radio with Kenwood. I went to the boat show where they tried to tell me that the Kenwood would out preform this Sony. I went to a Car stereo store and I listened to both. I contacted Crutchfield. The bottom line is this Sony does the job for sound quality, and performance.
Pros: Good Quality. Sounds great with a powered Sub. Went to a boat show. I was told that the Kenwood was better. I don't think so. The power is great the reception strong. When you play the CD it really comes across well.
I like the easy Installing . The sound is great I also love all of the features including the cd player. Which alot of units do not have.
Pros: Like features like the additional base. Enough power for me.
Great sound. I needed to call tech support during installation, and they were very patient and helpful.
Awesome sound, quality and great value. Super fast delivery. I highly recommend this receiver! Crutchfield I'm a customer for life...
Pros: Great sound, lots of power, mega bass really thumps the speakers! It's everything it advertises!
Unit was just as described. Plenty of power and the "Mega Bass" function lives up to the hype. Installation was straightforward after reviewing all the product instructions and watching a fair share of You Tube videos. Most challenging aspect was running the power cable back to the battery which was required due to the higher output amplifier.
Pros: Power and features
Cons: None observed
This head unit is amazing it has a ton of features and tone adjustments. But what really makes it stand out is the amps power and clarity.
Pros: Power. Clarity. Features.
Replace my stock Sony on the pontoon to power my new JLs. This had the most watt/channel I could find without adding an amp (40RMS). Really like this thing so far, only been on the water 1 weekend so still in trial mode. You probably won't host a concert on the sandbar but is plenty loud for my liking (and the wife won't let me turn it up all the way). The unit is easy to use and haven't even utilized all the Bluetooth features yet. If you don't want to deal with all the wiring and current draw of adding an amp I would definitely recommend this receiver.
Pros: Direct swap out with my old stock Sony. Plenty of power. Expandable if you still have the need for more decibals (Assuming your speakers can handle it)
Cons: Nope, nothing yet.
So far so good. Installed in the roof of a side by side. Love the power without having an amp for a pair of MOMO's. Lots of extra features if you were going to amp it out. Color display options, Bluetooth, USB & aux input on face, marine rated, search function for USB input. Some of the stuff I havent even scratched the surface with.
Pros: Power, marine rated, USB/AUX input on face, Bluetooth, Face color options
Cons: Didn't need the CD player. Should have just been a "media player" really. Put tape over the CD slot to keep dust out as no CD is going to play on a SxS. Price was also steep, but without the need for an amp, it was OK given my application.
I bought this new Sony marine stereo for my sea Ray cabin cruiser Hooked up to some JL speakers I was impressed with this unit so far
Pros: Very easy to hook up and use
Very nice deck.
Really nice radio with a lot of power

Marine Rated: The Sony MEX-M100BT marine-rated CD receiver is ready for the marine environment with a UV resistant coating and coated circuit board. The Sony marine receiver is specifically designed to withstand the ASTM G154 test for UV resistance. This means the faceplate is treated to resist fading and discoloring after prolonged exposure to UV light. The marine receiver uses coated circuit boards which safeguards them from the humid marine environment.
Detachable Face w/ Caution Alarm: The Sony MEX-M100BT features a detachable face for theft prevention. If you turn the ignition switch to the Off position without detaching the head unit's front-panel, the caution alarm will sound for a few seconds. The alarm will only sound if the unit's built-in amplifier is used. No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.
Variable Color Illumination: The Sony MEX-M100BT offers variable color LCD & button illumination. You can choose to use the same color for the LCD screen and button illumination, or use a separate color for each one. You can select between 15 preset colors or customize your own color using by adjusting the RGB range.
Auto Scroll: The Auto Scroll feature allows long displayed items to scroll automatically across the display when the track is changed on a disc or device.
Display Illumination/Clock Display: Pressing the Source/Off button once will switch sources. Pressing and holding the Source/Off button for one second will turn off audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remain on. To turn the unit off completely, you must press and hold the Source/Off button for two seconds.
Auto Off: When installing in a vehicle without an accessory power wire at the radio location, you can set the unit to turn off all lighting a set amount of time after you turn the power off. The Auto Off feature can be set to 30 seconds, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, or No.
Demo Mode: The head unit's demo mode can be turned On or Off.
SongPal (Music Center) App: Download Sony's free SongPal (Music Center) App onto your Bluetooth-paired iPhone (10.0+) or Android (4.2+) smartphone and take control of the Sony MEX-M100BT head unit right from your mobile device. You'll enjoy control over basic head unit functions, as well as navigation and seamless access to all your sources, music, apps, and more from your smartphone. The SongPal (Music Center) App also integrates Apple iOS and Android apps into the selectable source list of the Sony MEX-M100BT and lets you launch apps from the head unit. In addition the app can also be used to help customize sound and display settings of the Sony receiver.
IR Remote Control: The head unit comes supplied with an IR wireless remote control (RM-X231) for easy operation. The included wireless remote allows you to control the basic functions (not Bluetooth) of the Sony head unit while keeping your eyes on the road.
Wired Remote Compatibility: In addition to the supplied wireless remote, the receiver can be controlled by an optional Sony wired marine remote (158RMX11M, sold separately) through its wired remote control input (3.5mm) on the rear-panel.
Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately).
High-Power Digital Amplifier: A built-in 4-channel class-D amplifier delivers up to a maximum of 40 watts RMS (100 watts Peak) of power per channel; approximately twice that of most head units, and comparable to the power output of a compact, external digital amplifier. The internal digital amplifier features a space-saving design that helps keep the receiver slim and compact.
Note: Because of its high-powered amplifier design, the Sony MEX-M100BT does require that a separate +12V constant power wire is run to the battery with a separate inline 15A fuse in vehicles with lower than a 15A fuse protecting the factory radio. Check out the "Accessories" tab for wiring kit. This Sony high-powered receiver won't work in systems where an outboard factory amplifier is still active.
CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the Sony MEX-M100BT are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the MEX-M100BT are as follows:
6ch/5V Preamp Outputs + Sub Control: The Sony MEX-M100BT is equipped with 5-volt Front, Rear, & Sub pre-amp outputs giving you the ability to connect external amplifiers to your car stereo system. The unit's subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. The subwoofer preamp output features a low pass filter with a selectable cut-off frequency of 50Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, or Off. You can also adjust the slope (1/2/3) of the low-pass crossover. You can even adjust the subwoofer preamp output's volume level independently from the head unit's volume control from -10 to +10 in 1dB increments. In addition, you can select the phase of the subwoofer output from Normal or Reverse.
Note: You can connect a compact subwoofer to this head unit without the need of a separate power amplifier. Simply connect a single subwoofer (4-8 ohm) directly to head unit's left or right rear speaker leads (but not both). Approximate power output for the direct subwoofer connection is 60 watts RMS. Same subwoofer controls apply.
High-Pass Filter: The front & rear speaker outputs offer a selectable high-pass crossover frequency of 50Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, or Off. You can also adjust the slope (1/2/3) of the high-pass crossover.

You can register up to nine Bluetooth enabled devices with the Sony head unit, but only one can be connected and used at a time. Once paired, the MEX-M100BT will automatically re-connect to your device when in close proximity. The head unit also offers unique pairing for Android smartphones and iPhones to make Bluetooth pairing even easier.
Hands-Free Communication w/ External Mic: The Sony MEX-M100BT supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled cell-phone (such as your iPhone or Android smartphone). Bluetooth hands-free communication helps to minimize distraction while driving by allowing you to control your mobile phone from the head unit, so you don't have to touch your mobile phone. The controls of the MEX-M100BT can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also features an external microphone (featuring adjustable gain), so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers. And thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the MEX-M100BT provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls. During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.
Note: The external wired microphone offers improved audio quality versus an integrated microphone, so you can be heard easier over noisy traffic and road noise. You can adjust the level of the microphone without affecting the other sources. The external microphone features an attached 11' cable terminated by a right-angle 3.5mm connector which plugs into the mic input on the rear-panel of the head unit. The microphone comes with a mounting bracket which can be clipped to your vehicle's sun-visor or taped to your dash. The external microphone measures 0.525" (diameter) x 1.515" (depth).

Siri Eyes Free Control (for iPhone): When paired and connected to an iPhone with Siri via Bluetooth, the Sony MEX-M100BT has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. Simply activate the "voice dial" function on the MEX-M100BT to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the head unit and its microphone. You can even ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone with Siri. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.
Note: The head unit will only display hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the MEX-M100BT; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone).

I choose this head unit because of its high power since i did not want to add an amplifier to my installation [ Dave Jun 15, 2018 ]
the radio is to be installed in a boat. This radio is marinized. The previous radio died with a board burning up. I hope this one lasts longer. [ thomas Apr 21, 2018 ]
Great Deal! [ Joe Mar 28, 2018 ]
I picked the MEX-M100BT because I want more power w/o having to install an amp. I liked the idea of having 55w x 4 rms from the NavAtlas NA605BT but frankly it has zero reviews and I have never heard of the brand before. Sony's reputation and positive reviews is why I went with this product [ jess Feb 25, 2018 ]
We chose the MEX-M100BT primarily for the Bluetooth connectivity to replace existing SONY system in our boat! Marine capability, high power and component flexibility were convincing factors... [ J Feb 20, 2018 ]
built in amp [ DAVID Feb 04, 2018 ]
Reviews and weather resistance. Installation in soft top Jeep. [ William Feb 01, 2018 ]
I've always been pleased with prior Sony high powered marine recievers. [ Lemuel Gregory Dec 10, 2017 ]
Amplifier power and good reviews. [ Anthony Nov 08, 2017 ]
Great price and like all the features. [ Charles Sep 27, 2017 ]
Because of Sony quality and the extra power to drive the speakers better. Remember for marine radios, you are playing the music outside and when you're floating in the water near the boat, the louder the better. [ John Sep 07, 2017 ]
Wanted a better unit for my boat [ LADD Aug 22, 2017 ]
I HAVENEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH SONY [ DANNY Aug 20, 2017 ]
Looks to have a lot of awesome features and is Marine Rated for my boat! Can't wait to get installed!! [ Marc De May 24, 2017 ]
Good reviews [ John May 08, 2017 ]
Best power output for the price [ joseph Apr 20, 2017 ]
Reputation [ James Apr 19, 2017 ]
Because it can drive 4 speakers with authority without an amp which allows me to upgrade to tower speakers and an amp at a later time. [ P Apr 13, 2017 ]
All 5 star reviews and a great price. [ Gerald Mar 29, 2017 ]
Nice features, great price, and does everything it says....sound is amazing with bass boost. [ James Mar 12, 2017 ]
Motorcycle installation, needs marine capability and extra power to rock. Sony products have been very reliable. [ Raymond Mar 04, 2017 ]
Bluetooth and RMS power [ Sydney Mar 03, 2017 ]
good power output [ STAN Feb 21, 2017 ]

High power [ Michael Apr 29, 2016 ]
Happy with my last Sony. This is the upgrade to the model I bought for my other boat. [ Paul Apr 20, 2016 ]
The Peak Power and RMS will hopefully keep me from having to buy an amp for a few of the 6.5s on my boat. We'll see how it works... beefiest one on the market that I have seen. good luck! [ William Apr 17, 2016 ]
We have information on a couple CLK models from that year. Both that we were able to research have an amp. Only one system needs to use the built-in amp. The other system uses the preamp outputs. Either way, the extra power that this receiver has other most other models will not be used because the power output of the stock amp will still power the speakers My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul [ Paul Mar 06, 2019 ] Staff
Yes this will work, it plugs into your wired remote input on the back of your receiver(radio). Look at instructions that came with receiver and it shows where to plug it in...it should be marked also on the back. [ James Feb 18, 2019 ]
I can't remember the model number of the Sony unit I replaced, but I know i had to install the new harness plug that came with the radio. The wiring was pretty much the same, but the plug was not exactly the same. I believe I soldered the new connections, and then shrink wrapped them. All pretty easy to do, but you need a soldering iron and electric wire solder. You could just butt connect them as well, but for marine applications, i like solder better. [ William Jul 19, 2018 ]
I had a similar model and tried the same thing. The wiring harness is different and the 100bt requires an additional power and ground along with the harness for the speakers, accessory connection, etc. [ George Jul 19, 2018 ]
Yes you can pick the color. I don't use the mike wire with my unit - which is installed in a boat. [ Scott Jan 02, 2018 ]
This was a head unit that I installed in my last boat and was extremely happy with. I am almost certain you can change the screen background color, but no longer have the boat. It does look good compared to everything in the respective market, especially since it had so much amplification. As for the microphone, yes that is removable. Having several head units in the past, I would recommend this without reservation especially at the price point. There is nothing I could think of as to why it wouldn't work great on a bike. [ William Dec 26, 2017 ]
I have this radio in my boat I can't remember the answer on the lighting of the deck. I can tell you can run it without the microphone plugged in. [ Paul Dec 26, 2017 ]
Yep! Button color and display color are actually set independently of each other. The mic is a detachable 1/8 in. audio plug. [ Greg Dec 26, 2017 ]
If your phone can play it, this unit can play it. Just link your phone via Bluetooth or a 3.5mm audio cable. [ David Oct 11, 2017 ]
I'm sorry I have never tried Spotify. Apple Music works great. [ Barney Oct 10, 2017 ]
The Sony MEX-M100BT head unit comes supplied with an IR (infrared) wireless remote control (RM-X231) for operation. While there is no exact "range" listed, IR remotes require line-of-sight clearance to operate. You can also add an optional wired marine remote (sold separately) to control the unit from another part of the boat. I play my FLAC files on a 156gb USB thumb drive. No issues, [ Eric Oct 10, 2017 ]
I have this unit in my boat that is connected to a 10" powered Sound Ordinace sub. The sub powers on with the remote wire. I don't see any reason your bazooka sub wouldn't work the same way. [ Michael Sep 27, 2017 ]
Sure can. I'm running a compact powered sub from this unit. [ Greg Sep 27, 2017 ]
Yes it comes with full instructions. [ rrebelious Sep 06, 2017 ]
Look on page 33 of the owners manual in this add. It has the wiring instructions. [ Jeffrey Sep 05, 2017 ]
As I am no expert, I did install the radio that CAME WITH THE WIRING INSTRUCTIONS. However I also installed two JL amps that had wiring instructions, Four speakers and two 10" subs. Sounds outstanding. [ Hector Sep 05, 2017 ]
No [ Glenn Aug 25, 2017 ]
I would say it is water resistant and be hesitant to drop in the lake. I put mine in a small zip lock baggie and works through the bag with no issue. [ todd Aug 25, 2017 ]
I have one in my boat and it is awesome. I have a cover that protects it even though it is a marine radio. If a marine cover will work on your Harley you should have no problem with it. [ Jeffrey Jun 06, 2017 ]
I would say you would also need a cover. Water splashing directly on it would not be a good idea. [ William Jun 06, 2017 ]
The Sony MEX-M100BT does feature a front panel auxiliary audio input for connecting external audio sources but it does not offer a video screen or any video inputs. So, you can hear the stereo audio from an externally connected DVD player but would need to display the video on a separate monitor. It SHOULD work, when I was researching I believe that was one of the options. I ended up cooing with the RM-X11M though. [ Anthony May 15, 2017 ]
I have mine mounted in my fairing and have no problem reading the display. [ Jeffrey Mar 01, 2017 ]
Mines in a boat and don't recall ever not being able to read the display. You can adjust brightness and colors. [ Michael Feb 27, 2017 ]
Mine is installed in the glove compartment of my boat. I have not had any problem reading the display [ David Feb 27, 2017 ]
Yes [ David Jan 19, 2017 ]
This head unit will connect to the Sony RM-X11M wired remote control. Sony does not guarantee 100% compatibility with third party remotes. [ CHRIS Jan 18, 2017 ]
Don't know but comes with wireless remote but only works with line of sight [ SPENCER Jan 18, 2017 ]
It will, as long as you have the correct connector. If not there maybe an adapter. I have the Kenwood wired remotes and haven't looked for the adapter yet. Planning to do so this winter. Crutchfield support may be able locate with the model # of you controller. [ Jeff Jan 18, 2017 ]
It will allow connection to the compatible Sony wired remote but is not universal. My boat has a Polk remote on the swim deck it is not the same connection. [ Robert Jan 18, 2017 ]
I have an 02 Ultra and it worked on mine. [ MAT Dec 31, 2016 ]
I'm sure it will, just follow the instructions to the letter and it should be fine. I hooked mine up on a 2013 Street Glide and it worked very well. [ Larry Dec 30, 2016 ]
It worked perfect on my 2003 Harley Classic with my new Sony Radio, I had my local Harley dealer install it just because the bike was already in there for other repairs, all my handle bar functions work great. Would highly recommend this kit if installing an after market radio. Dean [ Dean Dec 30, 2016 ]
i used all three pre amp outputs and hooked up the line level outputs. The line level outputs did not play nor did the output that it was tied to. Once I disconnected the line level outputs the pre amp outputs work great. [ Jeffrey Jun 06, 2017 ]
The pre-amp and speaker level outputs are active at the same time. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5 [ Ryan Oct 12, 2016 ] Staff
Yes you can. [ Paul Dec 26, 2017 ]
I haven't tried it, but I believe you can as the usb port will recognize the music format [ Abraham Sep 16, 2016 ]
You have to run a new cable staright to battery. I put a fuse on that cable also. [ Francisco Sep 13, 2016 ]
I used the powered that was already wired [ LISA Sep 13, 2016 ]
To get the published power output of the receiver it's recommended to run a new power line from the battery. The receiver includes the inline fuse to do this. Depending on your current marine setup, there may be a power line of adequate gauge running to the existing receiver, however, it often doesn't come straight from the battery. [ CHRIS Sep 13, 2016 ]

Don't ,don't buy it like I did ,after install on the boat realized it needed for fidelity an Amp so installed one , the amp bypasses the built in 40 rms amp , so just save money ,but tuner without amp , cheaper and install much needed Amp for quality /volume [ GREG Jun 15, 2016 ]
I really don't know I don't have a amp hooked up to mine I think it sounds good by itself [ KEN J Jun 15, 2016 ]
It will give it more power but the system comes with plenty of power out the box [ STEVE Jun 15, 2016 ]
It has preamp connections. So it won't effect it. That's how it's installed in my boat. [ Paul Jun 15, 2016 ]
Considering the radio itself can output 40W RMS, an amp would be beneficial to run additional speakers and/or subwoofers. The end result would be a more complete sound stage and more volume. [ CHRIS Jun 15, 2016 ]
yes, i just hooked mine up and it sounds great with my bose speakers [ LISA May 13, 2016 ]
Probably [ David Feb 27, 2017 ]
Don't have one hooked up [ JONATHAN P Apr 28, 2016 ]
This is a standard single DIN stereo which are all 2" tall x 7" wide. The only dimension that can change from one single DIN stereo to another is the mounting depth. This depth of this Sony is 7.18" I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5 [ Ryan Apr 15, 2016 ] Staff
