Sony NW-WM1A Premium Walkman
Crutchfield customer from Jacksonville, FL on 8/31/2020
The product really has little purpose. It cannot stream music and all music must be downloaded. Additionally, it does not interface well as it has a proprietary connection. Definitely well made, but not worth the money.

Fantastic Hires Player
Dave from Denver, NC on 8/7/2019
I have been listening to Hires music for a couple of years. I have been an audiophile which started when I was in Junior HS thanks to my best friend whose father was a NYC Disk Jockey. I used a Dragonfly Red on my Iphone Xs Max but felt something was missing. The brass did not have the rasp and punch plus the strings on loud parts would hurt my ears with the distortion. I ordered an Astell & Kern Kann with anticipation. I have to say I was underwhelmed and disappointed with the sound of my Hires recordings. The sound was too smooth and even with the equalizer I could not get any bass or nice sounding cymbals. Luckily I purchased from Crutchfield and spoke to Colby. I returned the Kann player and ordered the Sony NE-WM1A. I have been amazed at the sound through my Audioquet Nighthawk headphones. Music is pure joy. No causing listener fatigue. The only fatigue I have is staying up till 2:30 am not wanting to quit. I have discovered sounds from instruments I did not realize were ther. I have gone from Jackson's Thrille to Donna Suumers Dance to classical like 1812 and Victory At Sea with a little Chorus line and Pippin thrown in. I did not have the money to by the expensive top of the line unit but this player is fantastic. They say the sound will improve after 200 hrs and it seems to be getting. I currently have about 8 1/2 hrs onit sice yesterday. If you have a critical ear, love getting lost in all kinds of music this Gem from Sony should be the player you buy.
Pros: Everything is pretty great.
Cons: At furst wished you could save more than 3 equalizer settings. Hiwever in my case one I adjusted the equalization for my headphones I was amazed it was perfect for all my music. No more creating an equalization setting for each album. I was amazed as I never had this experience so my Con went away. I am so thrilled with this crazy Walkman compared to the Iphone with the Dragonfly Red hanging out. I went through more camera cables with the lightning connector tha I care to remember.

Sony NW-WM1A Premium Walkman
Harold from North Bellmore, NY on 3/18/2019
One word "Outstanding". Wanted a piece of gear that I could enjoy my Hires music while traveling or just sitting in my backyard, this has not disappointed. Substantial, without being heavy. Currently using Sony's MDR Z7M2 and they compliment each other perfectly. Very easy menu to use and putting music in is a breeze. Definitely worth considering if you are in the market for a player. Plus no better place to buy than Crutchfield with their 60 day return policy.

Amazing sound, build quality, ease of use, and battery life
Guest from Poughkeepsie, NY on 7/26/2018
I've been delighted with the NW-WM1A - it has great sound, plays all formats (a huge range) of music files including native DSD up to very high res., has a great user interface and very high performance for file transfer, building the directory even for very large sets of files (over 300GB with an added SD card in my case), and merges the contents of the built-in memory and inserted storage card. It has great battery life (easily gets me through a week of listening, often two weeks with its 25-30 hours), great controls (including physical buttons on the side as well as a very responsive touch screen), is physically robust and in sum ticks every box I'd want ticked for a higher-res, much better sounding iPod successor. There is also a great rubberized case available online (OEM, not Sony) which I would highly recommend. The power output is enough to drive even my most power-hungry over ear headphones (especially using the balanced output), and still sounds perfectly noiseless on (much easier to drive) in ear headphones (in my case, Shure SE846). If you have headphones good enough to make a difference with such a high quality source, buy without hesitation!

Amazing
Ronnie from Asheboro, NC on 5/3/2018
The quality of this unit is amazing. It really fells good in your hand and it has a good weight to it. I decided to purchase this unit after my wife took my other digital player ( Sony NWZ-A17 ) to work with her so I had to get me another one. This unit is super easy to use and the battery last forever. The sound is what really sets this unit apart from all the other digital players. I have quite a lot of HD files that I have downloaded from HD Tracks and they sound amazing on this unit. If you want a digital player that sounds great and has an extra long battery life, then this is the player for you.
Pros: Sound, simple to use, build quality, long battery life,
Cons: None

Amazing Sound And Quality
Norm from Sandwich, IL on 1/15/2018
The build of the unit is fantastic - very solid feeling, with a responsive touchscreen and fast OS. Loading my music library onto it was a s simple as drag and drop - so fast and easy! The transfer rate was very quick as well, so I didn't have to wait forever for it to finish. As for the sound - just plain amazing quality!
Pros: Sounds better than my IPOD classic with same ACC files
Cons: No case for storage
