Overview: The Sony TOUGH Specification Memory Cards are designed to withstand the most demanding shooting conditions. This M-series SDXC card is also one of the fastest available. The SF-M-series TOUGH SDXC cards support UHS-II interfaces for maximum performance. It is rated at Video Speed Class V60, UHS Speed Class U3, and SD Speed Class 10. This card has a memory capacity of 256 GB.

Note: Transfer speeds are reduced for non-UHS-II interfaces.

TOUGH Specification: The Sony TOUGH Specification memory card has a rib-less design that resists breakage. The write-protect switch was eliminated to enhance reliability and breakage resistance. In Sony's internal testing, the TOUGH Specification cards are 18x stronger than regular SD cards during SD bending test specification of 10N. The TOUGH Specification cards also have a higher dust- and water-resistance rating, compared to standard cards.

Usable Capacity: Because some of the memory space is occupied by system management data, the actual usable memory space is slightly less than the total capacity of the card. For this card, approximately 230.4 GB of memory is available for use.

UHS-II Interface: The card has a UHS-II interface which enables high-speed data transfer for SDHC and SDXC cards with a UHS-II SD card reader, such as the MRW-G2 and MRW-S1. The card features high read and write speeds, that allow you to capture a series of high-resolution photos as well as 4K video. It also has a faster buffer clearing time, letting you shoot multi-frame bursts. The SF-M256T card has a fast write speed of up to 150 MB/s, and a read speed of up to 277 MB/s, when used with a UHS-II-compatible device. If used with a UHS-I device, the transfer speed decreases to up to 95 MB/s and write speed to up to 90 MB/s. The memory card supports the following speed class standards: Class 10 (SD Speed Class), Class 3 (UHS Speed Class), and V60 (Video Speed Class).

Environmental: The SF-M series TOUGH Specification SD memory cards are built to last, even in difficult environments. Its IP68 Ingress Protection rating (IEC 60529) means is protected from dust, dirt, and sand, and waterproof against the effects of temporary submersion in water up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. The media is shock-resistant, and durable enough to survive drops of up to 4.92 feet. The card can operate in extreme temperatures between -13°F to +185°F (-25°C to +85°C). Its UV Guard protects the card from damage due to ultraviolet light.

Downloadable Software: The card includes a link to downloadable Memory Card File Rescue software, which can recover photos and videos that have been accidentally damaged or deleted on the card. MC File Rescue is compatible with Windows 11 (Home, Pro, Enterprise), Windows 10 (Home, Pro, Enterprise -- 32bit/64bit), Windows 8.1 (Pro, Enterprise -- 32bit/64bit), macOS 10.14-10.15, and macOS 11.

Note: Sony Card readers MRW-G1 and MRW-G2 do not support macOS 11.
