And auto clock and channel setup make getting started a cinch, so you'll have this versatile, space-saving combo deck up and running in minutes.
Consumer Alert: This component has only an analog broadcast tuner and will require a converter box after February 17, 2009, to receive over-the-air broadcasts with an antenna because of the Nation's transition to digital broadcasting. Analog-only TVs should continue to work as before with cable and satellite TV services, gaming consoles, VCRs, DVD players, and similar products. More details on the Sony SLV-D360P
Video D/A Converter: This player uses a 54MHz/10-bit video digital-to-analog converter. This high-bit, high sampling D/A converter helps to reduce digital artifacts to give you a better picture.
Progressive Scan Output: Progressive-scan video has less flicker and fewer motion artifacts than the traditional interlaced-scanning method, resulting in a superior picture. To take advantage of this feature, you must have a television with component video inputs that supports the progressive scanning mode. The component outputs on this unit can be set to pass either progressive or interlaced video.
MP3 Playback: This unit will play MP3 files recorded onto CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level 1/level 2 or Joliet formats. Each disc can have a maximum of 999 albums and tracks. This unit will also play MP3 files recorded onto DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW discs using the Universal Disk Format (UDF). Note: This unit does not support ID3 tags.
JPEG Playback: This unit will play JPEG files recorded onto CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level 1/level 2 and Joliet formats. This unit will also play JPEG files recorded onto DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW discs using the Universal Disk Format (UDF). JPEG files with the following resolutions are supported: 32 x 32 to 7680 x 8192. The following functions are available during JPEG disc playback: slideshow, zoom (2x), and image rotation, which allows you to rotate the current image 90-degrees clockwise. During a slideshow, you can choose one of the following intervals: Slow, Normal, or Fast.
Custom AV Mode: You can choose from the following Custom AV Mode settings:
- Standard: displays a standard picture
- Dynamic 1: produces a bold dynamic picture by increasing the picture contrast and the color intensity
- Dynamic 2: produces a more dynamic picture than Dynamic 1 by further increasing the picture contrast and the color intensity
- Cinema 1: white colors become brighter and black colors become richer, and the color contrast is increased
- Cinema 2: enhances details in dark areas by increasing the black level
Virtual Surround: This function lets you enjoy surround sound by using sound imaging to create virtual rear speakers. You can choose from the following settings:
- Surround 1: creates one pair of virtual rear speakers
- Surround 2: creates two pair of virtual rear speakers
- Surround 3: creates three pair of virtual rear speakers
Zoom: The zoom feature allows you to get an increasingly close-up view of the image. Each press of the Zoom button increases the magnification for a total zoom of up to 4x. You can also move the zoomed image around the screen.
Resume Play: Resume play allows you to resume playback of a disc from the point where you last stopped. The stopping point is cleared when the Stop button is pressed more than once or the disc tray is opened.
Instant Replay: The Instant Replay function is useful when you want to review a scene or dialogue that you missed. With a single press of the Replay button, the player will go back 10 seconds and begin playing again.
Instant Advance: When playing a DVD, you can press the Skip button to briefly fast forward the current scene (30 seconds).
Child Lock: You can lock the disc tray to prevent a child from opening it.
Recording Note: Internal dubbing from DVD to VHS is not possible.
Quasi S-VHS Playback: This feature allows you to play S-VHS recordings using a standard VHS VCR. When S-VHS recordings are played, they are displayed with standard VHS resolution.
Quick Timer Recording: After you have started recording, you can have the VCR stop recording automatically after a specified amount of time. You can choose from the following times: 0:30, 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, 3:30, or 4:00.
Timer Recording: You can program the VCR's timer to record up to 8 broadcasts, as far as a month in advance. You can also record programs on a weekly or daily basis.
Auto Tape Speed: When you are recording a program in SP mode and the remaining tape becomes shorter than the remaining recording time, the tape speed is automatically changed to EP mode.
Index Function: The VCR automatically marks the tape with an index signal at the point where each recording begins.
Scan and Play: Using this function, the VCR searches for an index mark and then plays the tape for approximately 5 seconds. If you do not press the Play button, the VCR searches for the next index mark and repeats the process until the end of the tape.
0:00:00 Point: To mark a point on the tape that you want to find later, you can reset the tape counter to 0:00:00. The VCR will automatically fast-forward or rewind to the 0:00:00 point on the tape counter.
Auto Play: When the Auto Play function is turned on, playback starts automatically when you insert a tape with the safety tab removed.
Auto Repeat: This feature allows you to play a tape repeatedly. Once a tape has finished playing, the VCR rewinds the tape to the beginning and restarts playback automatically.
Instant Skip: You may skip past a scene that you don't want to watch by pressing the Skip button on the remote during playback. The VCR will skip past 30 seconds of tape (up to a maximum of 2 minutes) for each time you press the button and resume playback.
Instant Replay: The Instant Replay function is useful when you want to review a scene or dialogue that you missed. With a single press of the Replay button, the player will go back 10 seconds in SP mode (15 seconds in EP mode) and begin playing again.
Child Lock: After you have set the timer for recording, you can lock all of the buttons on the VCR so that the settings are not cancelled by mistake. The VCR will not work, except for timer recordings, until it is unlocked.
Multibrand Remote: The remote is pre-programmed to fully operate this unit and the basic functions on other brands of TVs.
DVD Outputs: The DVD video signal is output through the RF, composite, S-video and component video outputs.
Rear-panel A/V Input: In addition to the front-panel A/V input, the unit has an A/V input on the back panel that consists of left and right RCA audio jacks and an RCA composite video jack.
