Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted to get my husband a great set of wireless headphones for his birthday, but not spend an arm and a leg. These are fantastic. Great sound and features noise cancellation as well which is great when mowing. I read reviews that they were pretty ineffective on the noise cancelling side, but my husband and I thought they did great! They fit comfortably and look great! Definitely worth the money and so much cheaper than Beats and Bose. I got great help from the team at Crutchfield to answer all my questions which helped me make my final decision. The battery lasts forever on these as well. I wish they had a little more bass, which would be my only complaint.

Pros: Great sound. Comfortable fit. Long lasting battery. Good noise cancelling.

Cons: Could have a little more bass.

Cons:

Good sound; not so good noise cancelling

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sound. Noise canceling is not terribly effective. I got a great price on these, even for headphones without noise canceling, so I'm okay with that. The app really helps improve the sound.

Pros: Great sound made better with app Easy to use Nice color Comfortable Lightweight

Cons: Noise cancelling does next to nothing

Great value

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very comfortable and lightweight. These are my first ever headphones which were on sale. So far very happy with the product and it's performance

Pros: Very comfortable

Cons:

Very Good, Unless Noise Cancelling is Important to You.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I would likely have rated these a little higher had I not simultaneously tried/compared them with Sony WH-1000MX2 and Sennheiser PXC 550. My thinking was that I don't really need the extra bells and whistles of the 1000MX2's and 550's. So if the sound was decent and the noise cancelling was at least close to the pricier units, I might opt to save $100. The CH770N's sound good. In fact I struggled to decided which set I liked best sound-wise, though the 770's are a bit bright. However, the noise canceling isn't even on the same planet as the other two. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the 770's in active mode struggled to compare with the 1000MX2's in passive mode (noise cancelling off)! If not for the huge disparity in noise cancelling effectiveness, I would have gone with these. They're comfortable, even over several hours. They sound good. Build quality seems good and comparable to the Sennheiser's, but neither are in the same league as the 1000MX2's. So if noise cancelling is important, I'd recommend scraping up the extra $$$.

Pros: Good sound Well designed (Functionally and Ergonomically) Comfortable even over several hours

Cons: Noise cancelling? What noise cancelling? Expensive considering the poor noise cancelling. Look and feel a little cheaper than I expected given the price.

Features

Overview: The Sony WH-CH700N Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones give you the freedom to listen to your music without wires or distractions from ambient noise. The large 40mm drivers deliver deep bass and a wide frequency range. The headphones include a USB charging cable, and an audio cable for listening when you can't go wireless.

Bluetooth/NFC: The WH-CH700N has Bluetooth 4.1 for wireless listening from your smartphone, tablet, or Bluetooth music player. The headphones are compatible with A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, and HSP profiles, and feature SBC, AAC, aptX, and aptX HD codecs for improved wireless sound quality. For NFC-enabled devices, you can easily pair to the headphones by simply touching the device to the N-mark on the left earcup of the headphones. The Bluetooth wireless range is approximately 30 feet.

DSEE: Sony's Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) is used to makes your compressed audio files sound better. When audio files are compressed, much of the high-frequency sounds are lost, making your music sound flat and lifeless. DSEE restores both high-frequency signals and fine fade-out sound, giving your music a more natural and expansive quality.

Artificial Intelligence Noise Cancelation: The headphones are equipped with built-in microphones on the top of the earcup that captures outside noise and sends and equal-but-opposite canceling signal to the unit. You'll be able to hear more of your music and less of the outside distractions. The Sony Headphones Connect app has a Noise Canceling Optimizer that takes into account the shape of your face, whether or not you wear eyeglasses, even the atmospheric pressure, to make the noise Canceling effect even better.

Sony Headphones Connect App: The Sony Headphones Connect app gives you control over the sound of your headphones right on your smartphone or tablet. The app lets you select from available presets for the Surround VPT, such as Arena, Club, Outdoor Stage, and Concert Hall. The 5-band Equalizer lets you manually adjust each frequency band (400, 1k, 2.5k, 6.3k, and 16k) by +/- 10dB, and save the settings in one of two Custom presets. You can also choose from Bright, Excited, Mellow, Relaxed, Vocal, Treble Boost, Bass Boost, and Speech preset EQ curves. The Sony Headphones Connect app is compatible with iOS devices (iOS 10.0 or later) and Android devices (Android 4.4 and up).

Rechargeable Battery: The Sony WH-CH700N over-ear headphones are equipped with a 3.65-volt Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery to power the Bluetooth and Noise Cancelation functions. The battery fully charges in approximately 7 hours via USB using the included Micro USB cable. With a 10-minute Quick Charge, you can get about 60 minutes of music playback. Value for the money in the purchase of wireless bluetooth over ear headphones and Sony quality expectations. Already own Bose soundlink non noise canceling on ear set, very pleased with Bose but budget can't justify $350 for Bose QC II saving $150 for this comparable unit [ JOHN  Mar 25, 2018 ]
Sony has an excellent reputation for quality headphone and the sale price was too good to resist. [ RICKY  Nov 23, 2018 ]

Sorry, I bought as a gift for my son-in-law [ TOM  Nov 30, 2018 ]
Sorry, I don't know what an Apple Watch is. [ Ralph  Nov 30, 2018 ]
There is no Bose Quiet 2. Are you asking about the QuietComfort 25? In any case. If you have your choices narrowed down to 2 or 3 models. I recommend taking advantage of Cruchfield's (and/or other companies) generous return policy and order them all to compare for yourself. While it's pretty easy to make an objective judgement about noise canceling, "quality" of sound and construction will be much more subjective. I wouldn't rely on someone else to make a broad judgement that one pair of headphones is "better" than another. Good luck! [ Paul  Apr 02, 2018 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget. [ Krissy  Apr 02, 2018 ]  Staff
