Running these speakers in 2008 Dodge Ram regular cab off a Sony XAV-AX3200 head unit and Arc Audio XDI803 amp so they are getting about 80 watts each. I was worried about not having any dash speakers almost bought the GS 3 way set but with the Sony DSO function these work great for me. I have the sub channel powering a Kicker Q class L7 10 truck box and it's a nice well rounded system. I used the soundskins door kit and silicone baffles around the 6x9's to fire the sound in to the cab. Very impressed with the speakers and the sony head unit, may change the sub and amp to Mobile ES at some point they make quality products just wish price was a little lower.
Pros: Shallow depth, great clarity and midbass. Plenty of power handling, they are my whole front stage and I'm happy with them.
Cons: Just the cost, they were $300 when they came out and jumping to $400 already is significant.

Using these for rears and Sony XS-160ES for fronts powered by an Alpine KTA-450 amp coupled to an Alpine iLX-407 receiver. Altogether the sound is accurate, well-defined, effortless, and smooth. These speakers are, to my ears, very much like reference speakers - faithfully reproducing the source without coloring tone or shifting dynamics - crappy source sounds meh and excellent source sounds excellent. I ~really~ enjoy how well-defined each instrument is; it's more than just great soundstage, it's the precise detail I hear in transients and musical harmonics. These speakers bring great zing to my ears! In terms of installation, the stock speakers were custom fit so I used Scosche SAT69 speaker mounting brackets to mount these and it was simple. These XS-690ES play pretty deep and add a lot of punch at louder volumes, but I'll be adding a subwoofer in the near future to further enhance the system. Overall I am pleased with these speakers and, even without a subwoofer, I'm thoroughly enjoying their sound.
Pros: Very much like reference speakers

Knowing Sony over the years, I had no doubt that these were going to perform top notch quality. I've installed them in the rear deck for rear fill. These sound as good as the audio frog's that I have in my front doors, and their not even broken in yet. These are a definite win for car audio. Don't hesitate to buy.
Pros: Everything I expected and more.
Cons: None at the moment. Price is compatible for this kind of quality.
