AudioControl Rialto 400 (shown in black)

The Rialto 400 has smart automatic switching, a high-performance DAC, and assertive transparent power.

AudioControl designed the Rialto 400 as a simple but flexible solution for multi-room streaming zones with voice control. Its always-prioritized 3.5mm input for voice assistants lets you connect a compatible voice assistant device (sold separately). When you're listening to music, ask Alexa to add a playlist to your queue. The amp changes inputs quickly so you can you hear Alexa's response, then automatically switches back so you can enjoy your tunes.

The Rialto 400 delivers a clean and tasty 100 watts of Class D amplification per channel — 400 watts when bridged. Its digital and analog inputs can handle your choice of sources. (Important note: since there's no volume control in this amplifier, your sources must have adjustable volume.)

This amp's small footprint and understated chassis design help it fit into any space. And AudioControl's bulletproof USA-made construction will stand the test of time.

Flexible connections and control

Connect to the Toslink optical or coaxial digital input to make use of the Rialto 400's fine Wolfson DAC, which decodes digital audio at up to 24-bit/192kHz. It also has an analog input that lets you connect, for example, an analog receiver or preamp with a phono input, or an external DAC.

Three rear-panel gain controls let you balance the relative signal strengths of your input sources, adjustable with a flathead screwdriver. A fourth flathead gain pot controls AudioControl's patented accuBASS™ adjustment for musically boosting lower frequencies. There's even a front-panel 3.5mm headphone jack.

Chain of command starts with your voice

As described above, the Rialto 400 automatically gives priority to your connected voice controller, but you can assign secondary priority to the digital or analog input using the rear-panel DIP switches. For example, let's say you like to stream background music using a digital input, but when you really want to listen, you put on vinyl. If you prioritize the analog input, then any time you drop the needle the amp will automatically switch to that. When the record ends, it will sense no signal and go back to the streaming digital input.

Configure it for your needs

Use this amp to power a pair of floor-standing or bookshelf speakers and you have a simple solution for great TV and streaming audio in your den, bedroom, or wherever. You could even hook up your legacy receiver to this amplifier using line-level or speaker-level connections.

Connect a powered sub to the Rialto's dedicated mono RCA subwoofer output for some extra bass. Or break out a really beastly speaker pair, add a second Rialto 400, and operate in bridged mono mode with all the same features and flexibility.

Product Research

Features

Class D Power Amplifier: The AudioControl Rialto 400 is a compact, high-powered Class D amplifier that delivers over 100 watts of power x 2 channels into 8 ohms and 200 watts x 2 channels into 4 ohm loads. It can also act as a mono-block amplifier, delivering 400 watts x 1 channel into 8 ohms.

Wolfson DAC: The AudioControl Rialto 400 power amplifier features a built-in, high-performance Wolfson DAC (digital-to-analog converter) that has been specifically designed to provide great performance high sound quality.

AccuBASS Circuitry: Equipped with AudioControl's unique patented AccuBASS circuitry, the Rialto 400 rejuvenates the bass response lost in most digital audio compressed music files. AudioControl's AccuBASS circuit helps recover the bass that goes missing in compressed music files, or when volume is increased and the bass frequencies roll away. The result is a richer and fuller audio performance with better bass and midbass response.

Optical & Coaxial Digital Inputs: The Rialto 400 is outfitted with one optical (toslink) and one coaxial (RCA) digital input for connection of a digital audio source device that offers a digital audio output and its own volume control. You can only use one of the digital inputs (not both). There is a gain control for the digital input to create a balanced listening level. The optical and coaxial digital inputs will accept stereo 2ch PCM audio signal (up to 24-bit/192kHz). The digital inputs do not support Dolby Digital, DTS, or other multichannel audio formats.

Analog Line-Level & Speaker Level Inputs: The Audio Cotnrol Rialto 400 is equipped with a stereo analog RCA line-level input for connection of an external audio source with analog line-level outputs and its own volume control. If your source has no has no line-level outputs, then its speaker wires can be connected to the euroblock-style speaker-level inputs of the Rialto 400. You can only use one of the analog inputs (not both). There is a gain control for the analog input to create a balanced listening level.

Smart Priority 3.5mm Input: A dedicated stereo mini-jack 3.5mm priority input jack allows for fast, smooth and silent smart-switching, that is capable of overriding both the digital and analog inputs when it senses an audio signal. For example, when using voice commands on a connected Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device (sold separately) the Rialto 400 mutes the active analog or digital input, allowing for the response from the voice-activated device, then immediately switches back to the active analog or digital audio input. There is a gain control for the priority 3.5mm input to create a balanced listening level.

Binding Post Speaker Output Terminals: The Rialto 400 is outfitted with a set of binding post speaker output terminals that will accept bare wire (up to 12AWG), pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and banana plugs. The binding post terminals are gold-plated for excellent signal transfer and resistance to corrosion. You can connect one pair of 8 ohm or 4 ohm loudspeakers, or you can connect two pair of 8 ohm loudspeakers. In mono-block mode, you can connect a single 8 ohm loudspeaker.

Mono-Subwoofer Output: The AudioControl Rialto 400 amplifier features a mono-RCA subwoofer output for connection of a powered subwoofer The mono-subwoofer output does not contain a low-pass filter, so your powered subwoofer will need an onboard low pass crossover.

Front-Panel Headphone Jack: The Rialto 400 offers a front-panel 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone jack for connection of a set of headphones, so you can privately listen to your music. The amplifier's speaker and subwoofer outputs will be muted while headphones are connected.

12V Trigger Out: The AudioControl Rialto 400's 12V trigger output (3.5mm) can be used to remotely power on and off a connected external component or device, such as a powered subwoofer

Sleep Mode: The Rialto 400 power amplifier will automatically go into Standby mode if an audio signal is not detected after approximately 8 minutes. It will come back on when an audio signal is detected.

Cooling Fan & Vents: There are vents and a built-in fan that is always on to provide cooling ventilation to the power amplifier; do not obstruct the fan and vents.

Protection Circuitry: The Rialto 400 will protect itself if it experiences an unusually large power surge, overheats, or experiences a short in the speaker wires or the speakers. The protection circuit helps prevent damage to the Rialto 400 and speakers. Turning down the volume or turning the unit off will help the unit to cool down and resume normal playback. A flashing red LED on the front of the amp indicates that the unit is operating at its "current limit" and in danger of going into protection.

Detachable AC Power Cord: The Rialto 400 comes with a detachable 6' AC power cord (IEC 2-prong) that will need to be plugged into the back of the power amplifier and into an AC power outlet or surge protector (sold separately - see Accessories Tab).

USA Built with 5 Year Warranty:  The Rialto 400 is designed, engineered and manufactured in the USA and comes with Audio-control's 5-year warranty.
