The Alpine Muffy earmuffs fit comfortably over kids' ears and help protect hearing in louder environments.
Keep your kids' ears safe in loud places
I'm a UVA basketball season ticket-holder (no 16-seed jokes please — too soon!), and my young kids enjoy going to the early-season games. The crowd, the PA system, and the whole arena can get extremely loud. The Alpine Muffy earmuffs can help protect developing ears in this type of noisy atmosphere.
These earmuffs are designed to comfortably fit a child's head, and were originally developed to help with focus and concentration. The multiple layers of noise-reducing foam also keeps their ears safer at races, concerts, fireworks, and ballgames. I'm thinking I might have to grab some before the next hoops season — our seats are right in the sweet spot for the booming subwoofers.

More details on the Alpine Hearing Protection Muffy
Overview: The Alpine Muffy earmuffs are an over-the-ear hearing protection designed for children ages 2 and up that can be used in various noisy situations such as parades, firework displays, car races, and concerts. They can also be used to help children focus on reading and learning, both in school and at home.
Fit: The Muffy hearing protectors are made of high-quality materials and feature an adjustable, soft fabric headband that's designed to fit most any child's head and come in a variety of different colors. The Muffy earmuffs can be worn by children of all ages, but are not recommended for anyone under 2. For this age group, the Muffy Baby is the perfect solution. These use a soft cloth head-band, that applies less pressure to the head, and are specifically designed for ages 3 months to 36 months.
Safe Volume Levels: The maximum statutory volume limit to which hearing may be exposed is around 80 decibels (dB), about the same volume as city traffic while inside your car. Prolonged exposure to noise levels above 80 dB can lead to hearing damage or even hearing loss. Official reports show that the 80 dB volume level is commonly exceeded in our modern world. Concerts are a good example, where volume levels can reach 120 dB. For rock musicians, most of the harmful noise is mainly produced by the drums and the amplifiers, whereas for classical musicians their own instruments and those nearby, can greatly affect their hearing. The following chart shows the maximum exposure time at various decibel levels above 80 dB:
|Noise Level||Maximum exposure without hearing protection|
|86 dB||2 Hours|
|89 dB||1 Hour|
|92 dB||30 Minutes|
|94 dB||15 Minutes|
|98 dB||7 Minutes|
|102 dB||3 Minutes|
|106 dB||90 Seconds|
SNR: The SNR (Single Number Value) is used to compare the level of noise attenuation offered by different hearing protectors and is the amount of attenuation applied. Hearing protection attenuation amounts will vary based on the frequency and the SNR is an average of all the attenuation amounts for each frequency tested. The Muffy earmuffs have an SNR value of 25 dB. This means if the hearing protection has an SNR value of 25 and is subject to a sound environment of 100 dB, the volume heard will be at 75 dB.
