Smarten up your landscape

If you already have landscape lighting in place, but you want to incorporate it into your “Ring of Security,” this is the product you've been waiting for. Ring's new smart lighting Transformer replaces your old transformer to add smart controls to your existing compatible low-voltage landscape lighting.

How does it work?

You'll mount the Transformer using the included hardware within three feet of a weatherproof outdoor GFCI AC power outlet and at least a foot above ground level. Most likely it can go right where your old transformer was. Then, connect the 12V or 15V wires (up to 200 watts total) from your existing landscape lights to the quick connect terminals on the Ring Transformer, and plug the power cord into that nearby outlet.

Easy to control

To make your existing landscape lights "smart," you'll also need to connect the Transformer to the Ring Smart Lighting Bridge (sold separately) using the Ring app. Once you do, you'll be able to group and control your landscape lighting from the app wherever you are. You can also add a motion sensor so that your lights turn on when someone approaches the house.

And if you have a compatible Alexa-enabled device, you can turn on your connected lights using only your voice.

More details on the Ring Smart Lighting Transformer

Product Research

Features

Overview: Ring's new Smart Lighting products can light specific areas around the exterior of your home for added safety and security. This low-voltage transformer can connect your existing non-Ring landscape lighting to the Ring Bridge so you can enable smart controls and turn on the lights using the Ring App. The Transformer, when connected to the Ring Bridge, can work in sync with other Ring Smart Lights*, or manually through the Ring App*. The lights are protected by a 1-year limited warranty.

* Note: The Ring Bridge (included in this bundle) is required for setup and interacting with other Ring Products or the Ring App.

Ring Bridge: The Ring Bridge integrates Ring Smart Lights, Motion Sensors, and Transformers into your Ring system. The Bridge uses your home Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n, 2.4GHz) to connect to the Ring app. It also connects to other Ring Smart Lights using a proprietary long-range protocol. During setup on the Ring app, you can control groups of lights at once, and receive notifications via the app when any light or motion sensor detects movement. You can also integrate Smart Lights with Ring Doorbells or Security Cameras for enhanced security, and control the lights via voice control with Alexa. A minimum internet upload speed of 1 Mbps is required, but for optimal performance, 2 Mbps or higher is recommended. Up to 50 Ring Smart Lighting devices can be supported by a single Bridge. Without the Bridge, Ring Smart Lights function only as standard motion-sensing lights.

Transformer: The Ring Transformer allows you to wirelessly connect non-Ring landscape or outdoor lighting to the Ring Bridge, extending the reach of your Ring Smart Lighting and Ring Security devices. If one Ring device detects motion, it can trigger the transformer to turn on all connected lights.

Installation: The Transformer is designed for use with 12V or 15V landscape lights, including halogen and LED lights. CSA- or UL-approved low voltage cable between 12-16 AWG should be used to connect the lights to the transformer. The maximum wattage load is 200 watts. If used outdoors, the transformer should be plugged into a covered Class A GFCI-protected receptacle. It mounts to a wall using three screws (supplied), and should be installed a foot or more above ground level. A template is provided to allow you to pre-drill the screw holes before installing.
