Controlling your equipment from another room
Crutchfield customer from Sicklerville, NJ on 2/22/2021
The item worked as promised. A little improvising is needed when adding the extended cable. They should have included some sort of conneters to splice the cable to the sensor wire.
Pros: Works great,
Cons: Could use some kind of conneters for the wires

Excellent and easy
Craig from ROCKLIN, CA on 9/19/2020
This just works. Simple. After struggling with a Harmony remote ofr over a year, I gave that piece of junk away and bought this. Sensor mounted to the bottom of my Sony TV with some double stick tape and mounted the rubber feet on the box and plugged it all in. Works as simple as that. Very much would recommend this product.

Solves the 'behind the door' problem
John from Washington, DC on 1/5/2019
Very solid and well built product.
Pros: all the connections feel solid; Powerful emitters easily work with my home theater, blu-ray, and cable box.
Cons: Needed to buy additional connection materials to hook up the extension cord, which should have been included in the box.

Great solution to locate A/V equipment elsewhere!
Eli from Jacksonville, FL on 4/12/2018
Levi was excellent- I described my need and he offered this as a solution. I had my local AV company install instead of a custom universal remote and extender option... so far so good. Impressed by the quality of this component working with all my equipment relocated to bonus room upstairs. Wife approved solution in my case. Integrated with my existing Harmony remote and it worked perfectly.

Works, but not with all TVs
JBReds from Glastonbury, CT on 12/27/2013
I have an older Samsung TV. By older I mean 5 years old. When the TV first starts it emits what I assume is an RF frequency that interferes with the unit. I turn on the TV and the sensor has a steady blue light (this means that it is receiving a signal and sending it to the repeater. I have to wait 3 minutes or so for the blue light to dim and then I can use the remote. Called Niles and they say to move the sensor away from the TV. This does work, but I have my TV on a swivel so I can watch it in the kitchen as well. So now I cannot use the remote in the kitchen.
Pros: Works well and very easy to set up
Cons: RF interference with some televisions. The IR sensors pads fall off the components.

niles flasher kit
rick t from rohnert park ca on 7/23/2013
I have tried two other flasher kits to signal my equipment located behind cabinet doors , but the niles system is the only one that has worked reliably even in bright light and right next to a 60" plasma. worth every penny it cost.
Pros: works 100% of the time and simple to hook up
Cons: none

Very happy with purchase
Stephen D from Glastonbury, CT on 9/4/2012
I am very happy with this purchase. It allows me to hide most of my components, wires and cables in a closet out of view of my media room. I am also really happy that I bought it from Crutchfield's. I read the manual and fiddled with the system trying to get it to work for some time. It worked very well with my Apple TV, but I had trouble getting it to work with the receiver and Blu-Ray player. A call to Crutchfield's Tech Support, and a few minutes later, it was working on everything like a charm. I am too embarrassed to publicly disclose what I forgot to do, but was definitely grateful that Crutchfield's Tech Support was there to solve my "easy" problems. A+ for Crutchfield Tech Support -- seriously. They definitely take the frustration out of DIY electronics if you aren't an engineer.
Pros: Simple, clean, compact, plenty of wire

Disappointed by poor quality and service
DS from New York, NY on 5/21/2012
After running the remote sensor through the wall, I was unable to get the unit to work. Eventually, I removed the cover to the remote sensor to find that the four wires were all soldered to the PCB in one mass of solder. Since this could only happen at the time of manufacturing, they clearly do not test all of the components prior to shipping the product. When I contacted their tech support they told me to call Crutchfield who then sent me back to the manufacturer. At first, they wanted me to send the entire unit back to them but finally agreed to replace just the remote sensor. They insisted I send them back this cheap and useless component before they would send a new one, which now means pulling it out from the wall behind a 65" television, shipping it off, waiting, and then running it back through the wall. At this price, it is shocking that the manufacturer would not test their components. Be sure to test all components before installing to ensure they are not DOA.
Pros: unknown.
Cons: poor quality, poor technical support & warranty service

it really works !
cindy from woodstock, ga on 2/10/2012
this little device really works. i was skeptical about its function. i have a 12 year old sony cd player and a 1 year old marantz receiver. dvd changer, and directv. it works great with all. easy to set up and install. the guide book is fairly clear. i would not hesitate to recommend this little device if all the components will not sit in the same space.

Excellent
JasonS from Mississippi on 1/26/2012
Performs just as noted. No delays from time of command to action. Build quality is excellent, but care is needed with the sensor. While installing the sensor unit through a wall the sensor parted from the cable with only moderate forces applied. Replacement sensors are very expensive.

I installed the smaller version of this piece about 8 yrs. ago and I called him before buying this one. He said his hadn't missed a beat. I installed this one in a closet and it works flawlessly. Easy to connect and set up for each piece of equipment. Even works with my Logitech PS3 adapter for my Logitech remote.
Pros: Good quality and easy to install and set up.
Cons: The price good be a bit lower, but it's well worth it.
