When professional installers need versatile and rugged components they can depend on, they turn to Niles. Niles' Systems Integration Amplifiers® are powerful tools that simplify and optimize complex custom multi-room installations. While traditional receivers and amplifiers work well in typical stereo and home theater systems, multi-room systems require an amplifier that does more than just drive speakers — these systems require an approach that offers greater flexibility and performance.

Power and performance to spare

Whether you're using the Niles SI-2100 as a part of a multi-room audio system or as the amplifier in your main listening room, you'll find that it delivers plenty of pristine, dynamic stereo power. Its high-current design allows it to handle unusual and reactive loads with ease, including the ability to safely drive up to three pairs of directly connected 8-ohm speakers at the same time. And it's not just all muscle. Niles uses high-quality parts throughout to ensure that you'll always get top-notch audio performance. Cutting-edge, independent digital power supplies for each channel prevent cross-talk interference, ensuring clean, spacious sound. Oversized heat sinks keep the SI-2100 cool even when driving heavy loads, eliminating the need for a noisy cooling fan and guaranteeing silent operation.

Installer-friendly features

Niles knows what it takes to stay competitive in the world of custom installation. That's why their amps include features that make them easy to integrate. You get three separate turn-on modes to bring the amp to life, plus a 12-volt DC control output to activate other devices such as motorized screens and curtains. Independent level controls for each channel allow precise volume matching to the rest of the system, and can also be used to limit volume to prevent speaker damage. Handy cascade audio outputs let you daisy-chain mutiple amps together. And you can even combine its two channels into one to give your speakers more juice — a great option for power-hungry outdoor speakers.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Niles Audio SI (System Integration) Amplifiers are designed to power your custom-installed Audio-Video system. They are constructed with the finest materials available, including 1% metal film resistors, high quality capacitors, and oversized heat sinks, that can properly cool the unit without the need for a noisy fan.

Power Output: The SI-2100 stereo amplifier provides 100 watts RMS per channel at 8 ohms, and 225 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms with all channels driven. When bridged, the output is 400 watts into 8 ohms.

Line Level Input: The amplifier has a single pair of gold-plated stereo RCA input jacks. If you are bridging the amplifier, you can connect a mono source (single RCA) to the left-channel input.

Cascade Audio Outputs: The unit's Cascade Audio Outputs enable you to daisy-chain another amplifier, by connecting the preamp output of the SI-2100 to the input of the second amplifier. The outputs are not buffered, so if you wish to daisy-chain more than 5 Niles SI Amplifiers, you will need a buffered distribution amplifier, such as the Niles AVDA-3.

Speaker Terminals: The amplifier is equipped with 5-way binding post speaker terminals. The terminals will accept single- and dual-banana plugs, pin connectors, spade lugs, and bare wire up to 12-gauge. For most applications, 16- or 18-gauge wire is recommended. For wiring runs longer than 80 feet, 14-gauge wire is recommended.

Multiple Speaker Loads: The SI-2100 is stable into very low impedance loads (minimum impedance is 2.66 ohms in stereo), which means you can safely operate up to three pairs of 8-ohm speakers directly connected to the amplifier. You will need to connect a speaker selector switch if you wish to independently turn on/off connected speakers, or if you wish to connect more than three pairs of speakers.

Independent Level Controls: The SI-2100 has independent left- and right-channel level controls, letting you pre-set the maximum volume, or precisely match the volume to the rest of the system. The controls are located on the rear panel to limit unwanted access.

Turn-on Modes: For convenience, the SI-2100 offers three turn-on modes. Using the 3-way switch on the back panel, you can choose from the following modes:

  • Manual Turn-on: The amplifier is turned on and off using the front panel Master power switch. The automatic turn-on circuitry is turned off. (Switch position: Constant)
  • Music Sense: The amplifier turns on automatically when the presence of an audio signal is detected on either the left or right input. When the audio signal is no longer detected, the amplifier turns itself off after approximately 2 minutes. (The front panel Master switch must be in the On position, and the Turn-on Mode switch position is set to Audio Sense.)
  • External Trigger: The amplifier turns on automatically when a signal is detected at the 3.5mm AC/DC trigger input. Once the Trigger voltage is turned off, the amplifier automatically turns itself off. Voltage triggers can be supplied by a variety of sources, including surround sound processors, video projectors, and automated switchers. The trigger signal must be 3-24 volts AC or DC, 20 mA or greater. (The front panel Master switch must be in the On position, and the Turn-on Mode switch position is set to 3-30V AC/DC Trigger Input.)

12-volt Control Output: In addition to the 12-volt Trigger Input, the SI-2100 can be used to control other devices using 12-volt triggers, such as motorized screens and curtains. When the amplifier is powered on, a 12-volt DC (150 mA) signal is present at the 12V Control Out 3.5mm mini-jack. (Polarity: tip = +)

Rack-mount Ears: The SI-2100 comes with a pair of rack-mount ears to allow you to mount the amplifier in a standard equipment rack. The rack ears attach to the sides of the amplifier chassis using the 4 installed screws. The amp requires only a single rack space (1U) with the feet removed.

Note: A minimum of 7" of free air space must be provided above the amplifier for proper ventilation.

Removable AC Cord: The SI-2100 comes with a 6' detachable, heavy-duty power cord that allows you to unplug it either at the amp or at the wall outlet. The amplifier uses an IEC 3-prong cord. The amplifier features an auto-switching, 110V-230V power supply.

Q
Does this unit include an internal DAC?
matthew  Feb 28, 2024
1 answer
A
Hey Matthew, so this Niles is actually a power amp so there is no DAC or additional processing power in this component. You would need a pre-amp in place to take care of any and all processing and you can then send the audio to this Niles for output.

Q
Can this work with a Marantz NR1200?
leonardo  Jun 28, 2022
1 answer
A
I see no reason why not, Leonardo! You have a pair of front preamp outputs via RCA on the Marantz NR1200 Slimline stereo receiver, that you can run in to the RCA inputs on this Niles SI-2100 Stereo power amp unit to send larger amounts of wattage to a pair of speakers. You even get a bus output so you could connect TEN if you wanted to! These Niles units really pack a punch, and take up a minimal amount of real estate, we love 'em!

Q
how does this compare with integra amd 20.4? how long is the sale ?
andrew  Jul 13, 2021
1 answer
A
The Niles SI-2100 outputs 25 watts more at 8 ohms than the Integra ADM-20.4. The Integra can produce a wider range of frequencies and also the total harmonic distortion is a bit better on the Integra at .08% versus .20% on the Niles. Overall both amplifiers are great, but the Integra is a bit cleaner amp while the Niles outputs more power. Niles has not given us an end date on the sale unfortunately.

A
Hello Michael. I cannot answer to use for specific speakers, but I can attest to the power and quality of my Niles SI-2100 that I recently purchased. I have configured my Niles in three different speaker setups, first in 8 ohms, then in 4 ohms, and now finally in 2.66 ohms using three pairs of Klipsch speakers. This power amp is very stable under demanding loads! I am a retired electronics technician and sound engineer, and I highly recommend this product for reliability and flexible functionality in home entertainment.

If the Denon has pre-outs, then yes
john raymond  Dec 04, 2020
A
The Denon AVR-4700H shows it has PRE-OUT connections to bypass the internal channels. Should work fine.
richard  Dec 04, 2020
A
Yes sir Buddy!!! I love it! Waiting for the 2150.
bernard  Dec 04, 2020
A
Yes. You can use it with any AVR with pre-outs. I'd get a 3.5mm trigger wire with it also. That will be the most efficient way to turn it on when you turn on the AVR , without physically turning it on by pressing the power button on the front panel. Enjoy. I like mine with my Marantz 7015 to power my surround channels.
tyler  Dec 04, 2020
A
This is a normal two channel amplifier so it can be used to power any channels you need from the pre-outs on the Denon. Looks like the 4700h has pre-outs for 11.2 but only has a 9 channel amp so if you're looking to power two additional surround channels, the Niles would work for you. It could also be used to power additional zones from pre-outs.
edward  Dec 04, 2020
A
Yes
jason  Dec 04, 2020
A
Yes you would use zone 2 or zone 3

Q
Can this be used alone to play turntable to speakers?
paolo  Nov 22, 2020
2 answers
A
No, this doesn't have a phono preamp, which you would need. Maybe look at the Denon PMA series. See link below. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_033PMA600/Denon-PMA-600NE.html
steve  Nov 22, 2020
A
The short answer is no. Long answer is it might be possible if the turntable has a built in phono stage, but even then you wouldn't have any volume control. Best used as a power source only.
ryan l  Nov 22, 2020
Q
Can you hook up a passive subwoofer with this amp?

Sure, this could be bridged to drive a sub.
steve  Nov 22, 2020
A
Yes, but this amp does not have a crossover, so you need something for frequency filtering.
benjamin  Nov 21, 2020
Q
Can I add equilizer and how?
esound  Jul 03, 2020

A
You would have to buy a stand alone EQ and put it in between your source and the amp.
steve  Nov 22, 2020
A
I don't know, I didn't try it. I am, however, very happy with the amplifier.

Q
Where are the volume controls located on the Niles 2100 power amp?
george  Nov 19, 2019
11 answers
A
There are 2 "level" control knobs on the rear panel that allow for separate volume adjustments for each channel.
donald  Dec 09, 2019
A
In the back, there are two small knobs; one for the left channel and one for the right channel.
shane  Dec 08, 2019
A
Hi George, thank you for your question. The SI-2100 has independent left- and right-channel level controls, there you may pre-set the maximum volume, or precisely match the volume to the rest of the system. The controls are located on the rear panel to limit unwanted access. Hope this helps. Chat with an Advisor online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695, if you'd like to gather more info!

On the pre-amp
patricia  Dec 05, 2019
A
There isn't volume control. I have mine connected to a Sonos Connect unit and it provides volume adjustments when in use.
gregory  Dec 05, 2019
A
There are level controls for each channel on the back panel, but no volume controls per se. Rather, this unit should be paired with a preamplifier that has volume and tone controls. The preamplifier will also boost the signal so it's strong enough that the power amp can drive the speakers at a decent volume.
terry  Dec 05, 2019
A
The gain adjust is on rear, I adjusted to match the volume of other speaker from receiver. The volume will increase with the receiver volume.
dayna  Dec 04, 2019
A
The SI-2000 does not have volume controls, you would need to also buy a pre-amp/speaker selector unit such as the Niles SSVC-4. The SI-2000 is an awesome amplifier for multi-room applications, but it requires additional equipment. I hope this helps.
kevin  Dec 04, 2019
A
There are small nobs on the back.
adam  Dec 04, 2019
A
2 small dials are located on the back panel of the amp
george  Dec 04, 2019
A
On the back of the amplifier there are individual volume controls for each of the two channels available. The volume controls are located on the left hand side of the amp if looking at it from the back.
jonathan  Dec 04, 2019
Q
Can a Satellite Radio ( XM ONYZ EZ) put directly into the input of NILES SI-2100? And the Radio will control the volume? Thanks, Sid
harold wright  Dec 25, 2015
2 answers
A
This will work!!! Just run a head phone jack with red and white rca outs to the bus output of the Niles amplifier. The sound will play directly through the speakers which are wired to the Niles amplifier.
william h.  Dec 28, 2015
A
There is a output level adjustment within the XM Onyx EZ for balancing it with the other sources that you may play through a stereo. There is also a warning in the manual against using this level adjust as a volume control. We recommend using the XM Onyx EZ with an integrated amp or receiver.
