About the Bazooka BTA8250D

A bass cannon

Bazooka's BTA8250D 8" amplified Bass Tube lets you add ride-filling bass to your system, whether you drive your own vehicle or a leased car. Its 8" woofer combines with a built-in Class D 160-watt amp to delivers strong bass without taking up extra space. A variable low-pass filter allows you to tune the bass output to match up with your vehicle's sound system. You'll also get an installation kit that includes a power/signal harness, 20-amp fuse with holder, straps, and mounting hardware.

A bass cannon

Bass makes up about 30% of your music, and it gives music its power and impact. A good subwoofer can make an average car audio system sound good, and a good car audio system sound great. Good bass is all about moving air, and a cylindrical tube translates the motion of its woofer into maximum air pressure so you hear and feel more bass. Bazooka designed the Bass Tube to act like a bass cannon, firing low frequencies throughout your vehicle.

Big bass without losing space

Bass Tubes fit just about anywhere

A compact Bass Tube will fit in almost any vehicle, and you can disconnect it in a snap if you need more cargo space. Since the tube's speaker and port are right next to each other, you can get amazing results by "corner loading" your tube — placing it in a corner of your trunk or cargo area so your vehicle's boundaries act as a natural amplifier, boosting bass production.

Double your fun

Want to double your bass? You can connect a second passive Bazooka Bass Tube to the built-in amp for a serious boost in bass response. An optional wired Remote Bass Control Module gives you independent in-dash volume control of your bottom end.

Important Note: You'll need to purchase an amp wiring kit to install this powered tube.

Features

Overview: The BTA8250D features a water-resistant poly enclosure that houses a 8" poly woofer with a foam surround. The woofer is powered by a built-in 160-watt digital amplifier. The patented Bass Tube enclosure design eliminates bass standing waves for high accuracy, and superior efficiency.

Additional Sub: A second passive Bazooka tube can be added to the system (item number 204BT8014, sold separately), and powered by the amplifier built into the BTA8250D. The included signal harness has speaker output wires.

Low-pass Filter: The BTA8250D has a low-pass filter that can be adjusted from 60 to 250 Hz.

Remote Level/Crossover Control: Using an optional remote control (item number 204RBCM250, sold separately), you can control the bass output level and crossover frequency of the subwoofer from a remote location.

Controls

Level Control: There is a rotary control on the rear-panel that allows you to adjust the level of the subwoofer.

Crossover Control: The unit's rotary control is found on the rear-panel and allows you to adjust the low-pass filter from 60 to 250 Hz.

Power LED: If power, ground and remote are connected properly, the LED on back of the unit will illuminate in green.

Connections

Remote Control: Phone-type jack for use with an optional remote control; found on rear-panel

Power Harness: Two quick-slides for use with supplied power harness; found on rear-panel

Signal Harness: 14-pin Molex plug for use with supplied signal harness

Installation

Installation: Each mounting strap has an attached mounting base that can be secured to your vehicle using the supplied self-tapping screws. Once the mounting bases are installed, the tube is held in place by the mounting straps. For best results, the tube should be mounted facing into a corner, and there should be 2" to 4" between the woofer and the corner into which the woofer is pointing.

Required Accessories:

  • Power Wire: The 12-gauge power lead is only 11" long, so additional wire is required to extend it to the battery. Additional power wire must be crimped or soldered to the Bazooka's power lead.
  • Ground Wire: The 12-gauge ground lead is also only 23" long, and may need to be extended. Additional ground wire must be crimped or soldered to the Bazooka's ground lead.
  • Speaker Wire: required only when using the high-level inputs
  • RCA Patch Cord: required only when using the low-level inputs
  • Remote Turn-on Wire: required to connect the remote turn-on lead to the amplifier turn-on lead of your radio

Q
What accessories are needed to be purchased with the sub?

A
I purchased the wiring kit crutchfield suggests to order.
[ James  Nov 19, 2020 ]
A
You will need an RCA cable to connect your line level subwoofer output from your head unit to the line level rca input of the bazooka. You will also need a power wiring kit to connect the 12 volt from the battery, a nearby ground, and a 12 volt turn on lead from your head unit
[ Michael  Nov 19, 2020 ]
Q
What connector do I need for low level outputs using RCA cables? It does not look like there are RCA inputs on the Bass Tube.

The wiring harness that comes with the Bazooka tube has two RCA connectors on it. It gives you the option to use high or low level inputs.
[ Anthony  Jul 05, 2020 ]
A
There is a small wiring harness approx 1' in length that plugs into the end of the tube that contains the RCA plugs. Easy to install. No worries.
[ Jason  Jul 05, 2020 ]
A
I had a specialist install my whole system. Crutchfield would be able to answer your question.
[ James  Jul 05, 2020 ]
Q
Which model passive bazooka can you connect to this? How will the watts be split between the 2? Would each sub be getting 130watts rms?

What do you mean? In the overview under (double your fun) it states that you can connect a passive bazooka to this powered unit to "double your fun!" Will this double the power?
[ Drew..  Feb 18, 2015 ]
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: You would want to connect another powered Bazooka tube to this unit as it would not actually power a 2nd unit. You can use two of this very same model or any other powered Bazooka. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
