Our take on the Bazooka BTA850FH

The BTA850FH Bass Tubes package from Bazooka includes a great-sounding TA850C amplified subwoofer tube and convenient factory radio connection kit. With this handy combo, you can enjoy thumping low end with a minimum amount of hassle.

A bass cannon

Bass makes up about 30% of your music, and it gives music its power and impact. A good subwoofer can make an average car audio system sound good, and a good car audio system sound great. Good bass is all about moving air, and a cylindrical tube translates the motion of its woofer into maximum air pressure so you hear and feel more bass. Bazooka designed the Bass Tubes enclosure to act like a bass cannon, firing low frequencies throughout your vehicle.

Bass Tube efficiency

BTA850FH 8" amplified Bass Tubes package

The BTA850FH Bass Tubes package from Bazooka includes a great-sounding TA850C amplified subwoofer tube and convenient factory radio connection kit. With this handy combo, you can enjoy thumping low end with a minimum amount of hassle.

Bazooka's TA850C 8" amplified Bass Tubes enclosure is an ideal solution for getting the thrill of powerful bass without making any permanent modifications, especially handy if you drive a leased vehicle. It features an efficient 8" woofer, a built-in 50-watt amplifier, and mounting hardware. Place the TA850C in a convenient spot in your vehicle, connect it to your car stereo, and enjoy some punchy bass while you drive.

Fits in almost any vehicle

The included F.A.S.T. combination from Bazooka features everything you need to hook up the TA850C to the factory radio in your vehicle: the F.A.S.T.-9999 universal harness and a 16-foot extension cable. The F.A.S.T.-9999 universal harness uses Posi-Tap connectors and simple, reliable plugs to get the signal from your factory radio to the Bass Tube — no splicing needed. Hook the other end of the universal harness up to the 16-foot long F.A.S.T.-BTAH extension cable, which you've connected to the TA850C in the rear of your vehicle.

Bass Tubes enclosures fit just about anywhere

A compact Bass Tubes enclosure will fit in almost any vehicle, and you can disconnect it in a snap if you need more cargo space. Since the tube's speaker and port are right next to each other, you can get amazing results by "corner loading" your tube — placing it in a corner of your trunk or cargo area so your vehicle's boundaries act as a natural amplifier, boosting bass production.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bummer. I was excited about putting this in my Jeep. However, there is no switched 12V coming off of the head unit. To their credit, Tech Support attempted to help, but the only solution would have been to tap into the fuse box in order to tell the Bazooka to turn on when the ignition is turned on. Therefore, not as FAST as they say. So, with great disgust, I am returning it.

Pros: Should have been convenient.

Cons: Need to run a switched 12V power to fuse box.

Instructions were nonexistent but Dale in support was beyond helpful. FAST Wiring harness was good but sub itself was a complete disappointment.

Pros: FAST wiring was good with help from Dale in support but zero instructions were provided with sub. Little to no difference in sound quality.

Cons: No bass at all over crappy factory speakers. Fortunately my wife only listens to Taylor swift and cant tell the difference.

I have two of these in a covertible Sebring, with an audio control lc2i,off the stock radio and these bazooka 8in. Hit real HARD,I had to turn down the gain on both subs to half, and the knob control for lc2i to half, running pioneer 3way 6 by 9s,front door panels and stock 3.25 front dash and they keep up with the bazooka 8" subs.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Would give 5 stars if not for the crappy manual/instructions. My setup was out of phase, and the manual mentions a phase switch which the BTA850FH does not have. Simply swapping the polarity on one of the inputs made it come alive. Having said this, the installation is dead simple, the included harnesses are good, and in my hatchback this thing puts out stupid amounts of bass. Anything past 25% on the volume knob is too much. Would absolutely buy again.

Fairly straight forward way to get big bass into a vehicle with the least amount of disruption. Your biggest challenge will be gett By the wiring from back to front. Get the plug and play harness and it can install in under 30 minutes. Delivers more rolling bass than crisp pounding bass

Pros: Plug and play install Easily removed from trunk

Cons: Dull bass

A Little bigger than I expected but fits well on top of the wheel well of my 4Runner so it is sort of out of the way. Fills in bass well, but needs the volume turned up a ways to hear it. Installers told me not to adjust anything on deck or on Bazooka for 40 hrs to "break it in first"(?).

An Excellent Quick-n-Easy Approach to Adding Deep Bass

Kiyoshi from Las Vegas, NV on 6/17/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have owned my existing car for several years and the one thing I really missed was having that deep bass in my music. Until I saw this Bazooka BTA850FH, I never knew there was a quick-and-easy way to install and amplified bass tube in a car. So as soon as I found out about this Bazooka, I immediately ordered one. The installation itself, can take only half an hour. The BTA850FH gives me that deep bass in my music I have been missing for so long. For me, it's just the right blend of deep, punchy, tight bass. One word of caution: I wanted to use the low-level RCA subwoofer out of my head unit so I can control the subwoofer level. But the Bazooka amplifier prefers the stronger speaker-level audio. The low-level audio does not drive the Bazooka very well. So I use the speaker-level audio. Overall, I am thankful for this convenient approach to adding deep bass to a system and I strongly recommend it.

Pros: Inexpensive, Quick-and-Easy Installation, Very Effective

Cons: RCA low-level option is quite pointless.

Rough start, but very satisfied!

2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I drive a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, and just wanted a bit more oomph on the low end, as my door speakers aren't the best at high volumes. After I had taken my radio out, I follow the diagram on the stock head unit for my wiring harness terminal labels. After I had the FAST-9999 harness connected, which only took about 4 minutes, I plugged my head unit in to test. Nothing from the front or the subwoofer, but sound from the back. I called Crutchfield and spoke with Ed. He asked the colors of the wires I connected and realized something wasn't right. He immediately emailed me a wiring harness diagram for my HU and upon comparison, I realized the label on my head unit was incorrect! I fixed the wiring (or so I thought) and tested again. I got sound from the stock stereo but nothing from the sub. I called back and spoke to Toohey. He suggested checking all the connections. So I compared my wiring to the diagram I got from Crutchfield and realized I had counted incorrectly. I fixed my wiring for real this time, and bingo. It fired right up. Had I not had misleading diagrams and a better ability to count to 7, the installation would have taken about 40 minutes. Hiding the wires once they were hooked up, however, was another 20. I suggest planning for a 1-hour install. Still receives 5 stars due to outstanding product support and final product performance.

Pros: Great punch once set up correctly, easy to install when the diagram is right and you know how to count to 7, unlike me apparently.

Cons: None for the sub, bad mark for Chrysler for their incorrect wiring harness diagram, and to me because I counted wrong.

Excellent Upgrade

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nothing new here.... This is my second Bazooka sub. These subs are truly amazing!... It also vastly improved the sound of my existing speakers. The FAST-9999 wiring harness is a snap to hook-up and works flawlessly.

Pros: Works great.. Easy hook-up, Lotsa Boom Boom for the buck.

Cons: It could use a longer volume knob, (I used a 2"piece of small hose pressed on the short knob to make it easier to adjust).

Easy install, perfect for adding some bass.

2013 Toyota Prius
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I started my project by replacing the speakers with Rockford Fosgate component speakers in my 2013 Prius. The highs and mid range were definitely clearer and crisper. What was missing was the low end. I wasn't interested in head pounding bass like my son put in his car (2 12inch subs), I just wanted a little more punch to the bass. Power is a consideration due to the car being a hybrid. So I looked at a powered sub that was easy to install. This fit the bill, perfectly. The box says 30 minute install. I am not an expert but also not a novice, 30 minutes is not realistic. Took about 1 1/2 hrs from start to finish, making sure to tuck all the wires away. What took the longest was finding a good wiring diagram of the stock radio to identify the wires. (Wish the master sheet had the wiring diagram) Overall very easy install. Now the sound: Its fills in the low end very well, the sound has a good bass line to complement the improved mid and high, and I even decreased the bass slightly with the radio adjustments. Now, if you are looking for real strong bass, you will probably be disappointed, but to round out the sound, this is a great product.

Pros: Easy install, adds some good low end

I've used bazooka before so I thought I would try one more time. This is a fine sub ! I've had a 12 with a ported box and amp, this unit sounds better than that one did ! Maybe not at high output but for normal listening level, this has the right punch to match a high output harmon kordon stereo in my mini cooper. I bought this to get me by, its perfect ! My music is perfect now and I'm more than pleased. great sound at a lot less than those monster boxes and amps.

Pros: the sound

Easy to install and sounds great! I paired with 6 JBL speakers in a 2000 Ford Econoline van that we use to tailgate. Adjustable levels on the tube and through the in-dash stereo lets you control the levels all the time!

Cons: Plan ahead on where you are mounting for best sound-read the manual!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Fantastic little woofer. I have a Subaru XV Crosstrek and it really filled the cabin with that extra bass I needed to round out the system I installed from Crutchfield. Great thing - for me as a 50 year old - is that outside the car you can't really hear it. I'm not looking to have a thumping bass to compete with anyone, just want to enjoy a full spectrum of sound. Inside, though, you can feel the kick drums and the bass guitar. The install took longer than the 30 minutes it says on the box, but that's mainly because it takes time to run the wiring through the channel to the front, even with a fish wire. Easy to hook to my Pioneer head that I got from Cruthfield with the RCA sub outs and I did NOT need an external amp. The head I got pushes it just fine. Once the wires were run it was plug - adjust the EQ - and play. Highly recommend to others with a small-medium sized vehicle/cabin - especially for the price. Lots of bang for the buck!

Pros: Great sound Easy to hook up and set up

Cons: Takes longer than 30 minutes to install

100% satisfied

Kevin from Daleville, AL on 2/22/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed the Bazooka in my 2004 Jeep Wrangler Sport. We don't listen to boom-boom music so didn't need a big speaker box. Plus, there's limited space in the rear of the Jeep. The Bazooka is wired into the factory stereo via the included wiring harness's and easy connect wire taps. What I liked most about the install was the power tapped into the factory stereo's power wire. The Bazooka provides a great sounding bass and we're 100% satisfied. The other 5 factory speakers were also replaced with Kicker speakers. The whole install was quick and easy.

Pros: Low cost, good sounding bass, easy to install.

Cons: Mounting straps work fine, but a little wobbly when fully tightened. Hasn't presented a problem so it's not really an issue. The plus side of straps is it allows for easy removal when extra storage space is needed to haul stuff or transport a large pet.

Great bang for the buck!!

Wanted something that didn't take up my entire trunk space. Was wondering how 50 watts would really do but it fills in the void of no bass perfectly.

Excellent behind bench seat in a single cab pick up

Mark from New Hampshire on 7/1/2016

1979 Ford F Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My restored 1979 F150 has a fairly loud dual exhaust system that made it difficult to hear the two Kenwood 5 1/4" door and two small cabinet speakers behind the bench seat; especially with windows down on a summer drive. I needed to turn the receiver bass way up, and the bass was still nearly inaudible. After installing this 50W amplified Bazooka, with its gain adjust only near midway, the bass is fantastic. This 8" model fits snugly in a full size single cab, so i didn't need the tie down straps. I first set it up with the RCA input out from my receiver, and the bass boost was quite weak, even at full gain on the tube. To Bazooka's credit, they do recommend using their F.A.S.T connection harness and tapping into the line out speaker connections. When I switched the input from the RCA jacks to the speaker line out; the bass tube really came alive. I must admit, this 50W model is MORE than ample power for a single cab full size pick-up. It really does sound fantastic.

Pros: Easy connections via the included F.A.S.T wire harness; amazing amount of bass from an 8" speaker with a 50W integrated amp.

Cons: Nothing to complain about; regardless of price. This thing suited my needs perfectly.

Bazooka 8 inch 50 watt amplified tube Nice Product

2013 Volkswagen GTI
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great product I was skeptical at first but I took the advice of my Crutchfield advisor. The premium factory system (2013 GTI) sounds pretty good for factory but it lacked bass big time. I just wanted a little added bass while keeping my factory touch screen radio because it controls my Bluetooth and my instrument dash cluster display and I did not want to lose that. This tube is not going to blow the windows out or anything but it does provide the needed bass to fill out the sound spectrum. The FAST wiring connections are great no need to wire to the battery because the enclosed amplifier draws very little current and is extemely efficient. I had a local retailer install this tube for me; I could have done it myself but with work and family life I really did not have the time. This tube is small and fits in the hatch back area quite well and I still have room for groceries my gym bag etc. I recommend this for all VW GTI owners. I am happy with this product as I knew what to expect for the most part. Bazooka tubes have been around since I was a kid in the early 80,s solid company. I hope this review helps others.

Pros: Good sound product fits well in a hatchback.

Cons: No real cons to speak of but if I had a car with a trunk I would buy a tube with more power.

Nice Product

Ranger Guy from Royersford, PA on 5/14/2016

2002 Ford Ranger

I bought this product because it was the only subwoofer I could find that would fit in my single-cab ford ranger. It was also very cost efficient because it eliminated the need for a separate amp and cables, which can be quite pricey. At ~$150 it seemed like a great deal! After an hour and a half of cursing and installation, my ranger was pumping bass! This subwoofer is relatively simple to install and sounds very good for an 8"! I think it is well worth the money. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because Bazooka advertises an install time of 30 minutes, which is quite unrealistic for the average Joe like myself! Otherwise the sub performs very well and I am quite pleased with it! I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Pros: Simple Works surprisingly well for its size! Cheap Comes with everything you need

Cons: Definitely takes longer than 30 minutes to install!

2007 Isuzu i290
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

connecting all the wires was very time consuming. The aftermarket wiring harness for my truck required me to install a remote turn on circuit using a SPDT relay . There are no firewall grommets accessible and no room on either side to get a drill in to make a hole. Took me an hour to run power lead from battery thru fender channels to windshield at dashboard. crutchfield please put a note on the harness that the SPDT relay is needed so others do not have to go parts stores and radio shack to get what is needed.

Pros: good sound. better with CD or aux than FM radio. thought I had blown it out within 5 minutes. static in FM reception caused horrible sounds to come from sub tube. Need to run CD with test tones to check sub speaker for damage.

Cons: Power wire in harness with unit. this is contrary to information in installation expert tips. " Power wire should be as far away from signal leads as possible". Harness 15 feet long. lots of harness coiled under passenger seat.

Great sound.

2014 Ford Fusion
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this in my 2014 Fusion as part of a nine-speaker upgrade to the stock system, which was disappointing, to say the least. I installed an Audio Control LC6i which made factory system integration a breeze, then installed Polk Audio 6-1/2" component speakers in the doors. Since Ford was kind enough to provide me with 6x9 installation holes in the rear deck, I filled them with Pioneer 3-way 6x9s and powered it all with a Pioneer 4-channel amp and a Pioneer 2-channel amp. The Bazooka was to be the finishing touch and it is up to the task, sort of..... For an 8-inch sub, this thing rocks pretty hard but installing it in the trunk dampens it just enough that I can't get quite what I want from it, no fault of the product. It is well-built and easy to install, once you have your power supply where you want it, and handles the lows that you don't want your door speakers subjected to, admirably well. Just not quite well enough for my pesky tastes! I have ordered the 10" 100 watt Bazooka tube and will be moving the 8" to my daughter's car this week. I'm sure it will be plenty for her but I demand a bit more from my music. She isn't going to demand anything, since she isn't paying for it!!

Pros: A very capable little sub, in a compact package and at a great price. You can't go wrong with this in a hatchback, SUV or small car!

Cons: Not quite "enough" bass for me to feel it when installed in the trunk.

For those who want to try a car sub without much commitment

Troy from West Jordan, UT on 2/28/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really like the sound the bazooka produces, and I'm thrilled to finally have bass in my car. I want a balanced bass level. I'm not looking to shake up the neighborhood, or annoy the guy stopped next to me in traffic. The Bazooka's bass is deep and punchy, and fills in the missing notes. It's solidly targeted at a customer who wants an install easy enough to be an afternoon/evening project, with minimal investment or fuss. The Bazooka is highly 'sensitive' (efficient): It pushes 102 dB/Watt. This means that it needs about 10 times less power to push out the same volume than box subs, so being 'only' 50W is not a big weakness. It comes with its own wiring harness: You can tap into the speaker wires as they come out of your head unit and get optimal sound. Because it's so efficient, you can probably use your head unit's power line -- no additional fused power line from the battery, through the firewall, and to the sub. It makes an easy install even easier. It nearly comes with everything you need in the box. I only needed a screwdriver, a bolt driver, some sandpaper, and few zip ties.

Pros: Perfect for those who want a simple install and want to hear bass in their car The hardest part is running Included wiring through the car. No extra components, no complicated settings. It's Plug & Play. High efficiency: You don't *need* hundreds of watts of power, and you probably don't need to run a separate power line: the head unit's power is enough. It's designed to let you quick-disconnect and remove the sub, for those moments you need the cargo space

Cons: Don't believe the "30 min" install time. Running & hiding *any* wire from the head unit to the back of the car (where the Bazooka is) takes time to do right. The included wiring harness is nice, but it isn't magical.

Great Product. Even Better Sound!

Cons: Haven't found any yet. Installed on Feb 10, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought based on previous ratings. Box arrived in plain cardboard so they have remedied the "what's in the box" issue. I called customer service beforehand to review installation and they were very helpful. They suggested playing with location. Mine is in the trunk of 2008 Honda Civic. Installed one evening and the next morning commute was underwhelming. It felt like a waste of $$$. The tube was installed perpendicular to the road. I pulled over and turned it 90 degrees to point the speaker toward the rear of the trunk. This made a HUGE difference! I skipped two exits on my way home just to take the long way. Sounds amazing. It's not going to vibrate your rear view mirror off the windshield but the bass is great. Thanks again, Crutchfield for product AND service! (Just as an aside, I ran the amp power wire to the battery. There's a grommet for the hood release cable that allowed me to get around the firewall. Follow the cable and it runs right next to the battery.)

Pros: Great sound. Simple installation.

Cons: Lightweight feel to construction. Will see how durable it is when it is hit by suitcase or something else thrown in trunk.

Excellent Sub for the money. My daughter and I hooked this up in her 99 Jeep Wrangler. She is very happy with it.

Pros: Good sound. Easy to install once you know where everything has to tie in.

Cons: Installation instructions are not written well. It required a few calls to Crutchfield, but as usual, their tech Cecil walked us through it.

Rating is so low because this was purchased as a Christmas present. Arrived at my front door in the product box wrapped in clear plastic. Not a good way to ship at Christmas time! I like to keep gifts I give a secret seems to make Christmas Day more exciting.

Cons: Packaging sucked.

AJ from New York on 11/23/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the BTA850FH to "fill out" the sound of the stock speaker system. I have a 2001 MB E320 Wagon, with an Alpine head unit(original replaced due to water damage). The stock Bose system is mediocre at best, and there was general tinniness to the sound. Adding the Bazooka really filled out the sound nicely. It's not going to shake houses and buildings outside, but perfect for my goal. It's somewhat larger than I expected(I know, specs are clearly listed), and in a trunk it wouldn't matter much but it's not the prettiest thing to have in the back of the wagon. Nevertheless, very satisfied and easy to install. I wish I had tried the RCA outs on my head unit instead of splicing off the speaker lines, as the head unit allows for control of a subwoofer using the RCAs, but for some reason Bazooka says it is preferable to use the speaker lines, so I went with their suggestion. It'd have been nice to control subwoofer level from the head unit with RCA outs.

Pros: Easy install, excellent value.

Cons: None so far.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounds great in my single cab f150. Easy install. Directions were a little lacking. Had to find an old wiring diagram for my truck JVC head unit to figure out how to hook it up successfully. I feel if i had the stock head unit still the FAST harness would have made more sense. But thats to be expected when mix matching components. So very satisfied all around. Friends are equally impressed with what this 8in sub can do when corner loaded! I take the long way home now.

Pros: Sounds great. Simple install. Everything you need in one box. Saves space.

Cons: Some critical thinking needed when pairing with aftermarket head units. But not much.

Perfect sounds

Boooooom from New Jersey on 9/13/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this as a gift. If you on a budget this is the best bang for your bucks. It took me less than an hour for the full install. A few adjustments on the head unit and boom, boom, boom. This sub gives plenty of bass for an 8" Just keep in mind, it's powered by a 50 watt amp so it's not going to rattle your car. But you will feel the difference. I highly recommend this product to anyone that is trying to build a system on a tight budget.

Pros: Very easy to install. No need to run a huge power cable to turn this on. Just tap all the wires to the head unit and ground out the black wire by the sub. A few adjustments to the head unit and sub control (on the back of the sub tube) and your done. After you tuck all the wires that is.

Cons: Only downfall to me was its a lot of wires to tuck. Take your time hiding all the wires and you should be fine.

Tone quality

Gary from Wisconsin on 9/5/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I went through 2 band pass units before trying this one. Crutchfield stuck with me all the way until I was satisfied. A+. My 98 Taurus trunk is lined with about 5/8 inches of sound proofing material. The more powerful band pass units were loud enough but just made thud sounds through that material. Not the subwoofers' fault. I had just picked the wrong design for my car. This lower wattage Bazooka produces the tone quality I wanted to blend with the JBL door and deck speakers I had installed. It provides the sound duration that the interior speakers weren't capable of and the result is a truly great system. I have it set to the highest level but it's enough. There is still the occasional slight muffled sound but that's because of the sound deadening material lining the trunk. I thought long and hard about upgrading to the 160 watt unit but didn't think it worth another 150 dollars to 'possibly' overcome the acoustics of the trunk. The key is the tone quality of base notes. The frequency response of this unit is large enough so that it at least matches the good 6 x 9 speakers in the car and the result is a great blending of the sounds. I'm 66 years old and listen to 60's type music where tone variance is very important for quality sound reproduction.

Pros: Great match to my interior speakers.

Cons: Could use about 30 more watts of power for my car. Without the acoustics of my trunk in the way, it would be perfect the way it is.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Completely replaced the sound system in a '99 Dodge Ram with dry rotted speakers and a factory cassette stereo. Adding the JBL speakers and Pioneer head made a world of difference but when I added the Bazooka - BOOM! Although the Bazooka doesn't fit in the recommended location due to a fold-down seat, it adds just the right amount of punch to fill out the bottom end without rattling the license plate (or your teeth). And installation was a cinch, although the connectors to tap into the dash wiring could be more robust.

Pros: Easy install, convenient gain adjust, great low end without the fuzzy growl

Cons: Tap connectors could be better quality

I have a 2011 Suzuki Kizashi with factory speakers that aren't that great. I added a Sirius/XM receiver a couple years ago which lowered the sound even more. I wanted something louder (nothing that wakes up the neighbors or you're at a red light and people are looking at you) I just wanted a good sound system without spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars.... I added the bazooka tube and it sounds great. I couldn't be happier with the sound and quality.

Pros: Great product for the price. Fast shipment.

Seriously took less than an hour from the moment we took it out of the box. Everything needed for the install came with it. Overall, very pleased.

Pros: Perfect amt of bass to compliment a variety of musical styles. Ease of install. No running to Radio shack for supplies.

Cons: Really, none.

Perfect for the person that wants to experience all types of music and great with a factory head unit, your not going to blow out the neighborhood with this thing but it sure sounds like you are. I am very surprised with every song I throw at it, if your a rock fan you'll love it, first try was Pantera, Rage and then White Zombie and it added an impressive amount of power to the music, cool thing about it you can switch straight to rap or whatever without adjustment.

Pros: Sound quality, overall construction.

Cons: Not exactly plug n play, it would be nice of they supply vehicle specific wiring color guide.

GB7205 from California on 3/23/2015

Installed in a 2015 Kia Forte Sedan, it sure is a good compliment to the aftermarket replacement of door/dash speakers. Located in the trunk passenger side 2-4" inches away from the corner. This tube adds the right amount of bass without rattling the body panels or trunk. Definitely recommend if you want that little added punch to your system.

Pros: Nice that you don't have to go through the fire wall. Using the FAST-9999 connector sure made installation a breeze, take away the need of cutting and splicing of factory wiring. Fits in small places, easily removable when you need that extra trunk space and light weight. The BTAH- wiring extension is almost 16 feet, more than enough to route wires correctly.

Cons: If your looking for a nice all wire hidden (clean install), the 30 minute installation as specified isn't happening. The complete install took almost two hours (most of the time was ensuring the wiring its correct and removing interior trim) thescrew on caps for the FAST-9999 are cheap plastic and may split while trying to pierce the factory wire. Would be nice if the BTAH- connector was more protected by a cable sleeve rather than single wraps of electrical tape every 8-10 inches.

A Bazooka believer!!!

Donald W. from South Carolina on 1/17/2015

Installed one of these in my Mitsubishi Mighty Max a few years back and still amazed at the bass I get from this tube. Located behind the passenger side about 4" from the wall, it rattles my little truck and compliments the interior speakers (musically) very well...I highly recommend this bass system, especially if you are limited on space...

Pros: Easy setup and installation--may take a little longer than 30 minutes to install for maximum stability...

Cons: None at all!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put this unit in the trunk of my wife's '10 Malibu to add the missing bass after replacing the factory speakers with some Kenwood units. All I can say is WOW! I have underestimated this thing. Your not going to blow the windows out, but WOW! This will provide that missing thump with just the right amount of bass. I have built many complete systems, but never used one of these. I can think of two installs in the past where this unit or even a 10" would have been perfect. Installation was a breeze with the provided EZ Bass kit which was supplied in the box. That being said, don't expect to have this thing neatly tucked away in 30 min. unless your an automotive wiring ninja... but it was easy enough I'd happily use another in the future.

Pros: Right amount of bass for those who enjoy "hearing" their music. Installation was not bad at all. EVERYTHING was provided in the box. Good price.

Cons: The provided instructions were not wonderful, but manageable. Advertised as a 30 min install....not if you want it tucked away neatly.

Hardest part of the install was finding a good grounding spot! Very simple installation and the sound difference is amazing! I don't need enough bass to rattle my license plate and this won't do it, but does provide plenty of nice clean bass. My kids (12 & 15) can even enjoy their music in dad's car now.

Cons: Mounting system is cheap, but it works.

I bought this Bazooka 8" amplified bass tube after seeing all the rave reviews. I ended up putting the Bazooka behind my driver's seat, in my 4-door Altima, facing the side wall/panel. I measured the Bazooka's specs with the floor area behind my driver's seat. Fits perfect and snug along the matt area with the recommended 2-4 inches from the wall. My interior is black and the bass tube matches perfect, almost like it's not there. My trunk is filled with my car's vacuum and other things. Honestly, I wanted to capture all of the sound coming from the tube and not lose any bass from the trunk. Being 41, I wanted enough bass inside my car and not wake up the neighborhood. This tube is amazing for anyone looking to add quality bass to their car without breaking the bank and dealing with amp install kits. I couldn't believe how quick and easy installation was. I used the supplied rca cables to connect to my Alpine HU subwoofer output. Trust me, this Bazooka tube is a real deal. I got one in an open box, what a bargain. I was planning on getting another one but after listening to what this one sounded like, I'm good.

Pros: Inexpensive, quality brand/image, ported for loudness, compact size, big bang for your buck.

Cons: None...

Bought this because of the included harness . Installation is super easy took me about an hour to complete on a 2014 Kia Rio hatchback. This unit will not rattle your mirrors or the car but it will provide adequate bass to any factory radio. I listen to all kind of music and you can feel and listen to the bass but even the stock speakers can overpower this tube. I recommend this tube for someone who wants to add some extremely easy to install bass in their cars But like i wrote in the title manage your expectations with this one. I really like it but if your looking for serious bass or something to rattle you car search elsewhere.

Pros: Extremely easy to install. Small size. Adequate sound. Fits my audio needs perfectly.

Cons: The straps that comes with the kit to hold the tube are useless. Just get some bungee cords and you'll be fine.

I listen to heavy metal and rock music and wasn't looking to spend a fortune on subs. I just wanted to emphasis a little more power in the listening experience. This tube is a perfect fit for what I wanted. Installed in a 09 civic with a Kenwood DDX371 receiver installation was a breeze, only took about 30 mins. Hooked the power, ground, and remote turn on and hooked it up to the subwoofer output on the receiver. It hardly takes any room up in the trunk. It gives me just the right amount of bass for the type of music I listen to.

Pros: Easy install powerful bass

Cons: None so far.

Pros: Great sound. Crisp, but you can dial up plenty of boom.

I replaced the factory stereo and speakers a few months back. During my research I kept reading about how much more people got when they added a sub to their car audio system. I chose the Bazooka BTA850FH based on simplicity and reviews. I'm wow'd by the improvement! You can't help but be impressed with how much richer the music is with better reproduction of the low frequencies. Installation was drama-free and took about 25 minutes from start to finish. Perfect compliment, not a centerpiece

Rob T from Enfield, CT on 1/13/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Like many others, I was shopping for a subwoofer to fill out a factory sound system. I have no interest in broadcasting my music to those who don't want to listen to it. Any thumping outside of the vehicle is unacceptable. This piece filled the requirement nicely. The factory E30 premium sound system is fairly impressive for its time, but has major drawbacks in factory woofer size (5.25") and low end. With the small footprint allowed by the factory locations, major modifications would be necessary to truly modernize the sound system. For those that are now interested in maintaining rather than modifying these increasingly rare vehicles, a self-contained system seemed to make the most sense. Installation is truly a breeze. The only thing not included in the package is a fuse. The wire taps are simple and functional, though rather easily cross-threaded and overtightened. Crutchfield's customer service model can't be overpraised. Everything is simple, clear, and concise.

Pros: Works as advertised. Smooth delivery, no worries about thumping or rattling. Easily installed and removed.

Cons: "Complete" kit is missing the inline fuse.

ROD from Waynesboro, PA on 11/12/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Let me start this review by saying that Crutchfield is the greatest company ever. I have been a customer since the beginning. Now on with the review. I was looking to add some low end to the system that I have in my 2005 Jeep Wrangler. At first I wanted to avoid a sub due to space limitations in a Wrangler so I replaced the head unit with a Pioneer Elite model and I replaced all four speakers with Infinity Cappa's hoping that this would be enough. The improvement was tremendous but still missing something. I then started my search for a small powered sub. After months of research I decided on the Bazooka BTA 850FH. The installation was 20 minutes max, very easy to run wires in a Wrangler and I placed it behind the back seat. I was only hoping to gain the missing low-end and not expecting rear view mirror shake. The Pioneer HU has sub RCA's @ 4V so I used them and it also has gain adjustments as well as HPF and LPF adjustments. I decided to Max everthing out to get maximum drive and what I got was chest pounding crystal clear bass. Being a bit older this is not what I was looking for so I dialed all settings back a bit and found my sweet spot. Wow this tube sounds great and I would highly recommend it. Now keep in mind that this install was in a Jeep and placement was not in a trunk. This unit may not sound as good in a larger cabin or in a trunk. Also if I need extra space it is easily removed, two straps and one connector.

Pros: Everthing

Cons: None

I have been doing high powered audio for a long time, having systems ranging from small to over 1200 watts. My experience with Bazooka has always been positive. I put one of these in my work truck and it far outperforms what it is rated for. I also recently installed one for my dad in his 2013 Jeep Wrangler. 50 watts may seem like nothing, but these tubes are magic. It is not going to be heard a mile away, but will be heard on the next block. It hits deeper than any other 8" Ive heard.

I Needed to add more bass to a new replacement system in my 87 chevy single cab Pick-up ( sony GT740UI, 2x 6" Kenwood speakers in front kick panels & 2x 6"x9" Jensen in the rear. The lack of low frequency was obvious and having been a prior Bazooka owner in a Pick-up from years past, my choice was easy. This unit was easy to install and filled the void that my system lacked. First I installed a fused link from the battery through the speedometer cable firewall gromet to the head unit to the Bazooka hot lead then the head units blue &white to the blue&white wire from the Bazooka (for remote power switch) I used the RCA connectors since my head unit supplys about 4 volts there and it drives the Bazooka quite well with the gain set at about half way and any needed tweaking can be done from the head unit. For grounding the unit I removed enough paint from the rear cab inner wall to fit a conductive star washer to the provided ground lug and drilled a hole for a self tapping screw and backing washer. The Bazooka's sound isn't overpowering but provides more than enough low end for my situation without drawing attention to itself.

Pros: The ease of install using provided quick connectors and RCA jacks.

Cons: addition of a led (power on) light would be nice.

I have a Jeep Wrangler 2 door. Factory system has pitiful bass with top off going down highway. This was easy to install. There is a thread at Jeep Asylum on install. It doesn't take up too much room and sounds great with the factory head unit. This is not "show off at the stop light" bass, but adds much needed depth to your music. I'm 44 years old and it is perfect for me.

This little sub is incredible. It is exactly what I was looking for to round out the sound in a 2006 Cadillac DTS with a Delphi factory radio. Install was about 45 minutes, and I did not have to pull the radio head. I was able to tie into the factory wiring of the GM radio's rear a power and ground lead, mount it in the trunk and done. Everything works perfect, and I am able to control the amount of bass output from the original factory radio's tone controls. The sound this little sub produces is awesome. I was not looking to rattle the trunk and shake the rear view mirror, although it will at loud volume. The bass is tight, crisp and clean. I listen to a wide variety of music from the Eagles, to modern country, to Jimmy Buffett. I am very happy with the new improved sound. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who wants to round out their factory system and add a little "punch" to the low end.

Pros: Quick easy install, everything included. Great Sound. Small footprint.

Cons: None

Only 50 Watts?!?!?

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the BTA850FH based on previous Bazooka experiences. I previously owned two 100W 8" Bazookas and lov ed every wave of sound produced by them. I installed the subwoofer in my 2013 Outlander Sport to fill out the bottom end of my factory stereo. I didn't want anything earth shattering, just enough to do the trick. The BTA850FH did just the trick! It added depth and dimension to my audio listeining experience that wasn't there with the 15W factory paper-coned speakers. If you need something that doesn't cost a lot of money and adds great depth and dimension to your listeining experience, look no further.

Pros: price, ease of installation, simplicity of use, depth of sound

Cons: long harness screws

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had just purchased a JVC KW-NT810HD a month ago and thought I wanted to go a little farther with my project. I plan on replacing most of the audio components in my 2005 Matrix eventually. Adding a subwoofer was the simplest to do first, and I figured it would have the most noticeable effect. The manual suggested splicing the speaker wiring rather than using the RCA line outputs on my headunits. I opted to try the RCA outputs first and was disappointed with the output even with the gain maxxed out. So I easily changed it over to the splice method and it made a huge difference. I definitely see why the manual made that suggestion. Overall the installation was a snap which was great. The most time is spent routing the FAST cable from the back of the car all the way up to the dash. For my car it was long enough with a little over a foot to spare at the sub with a little slack left on the head unit end. This unit is not going to wake the neighbors, but it does make the sound much richer having it. It's just enough for my taste.

Pros: Easy hook up Price Size

Cons: None

Just enough thump for an old guy

Bubba from Fort Worth, Texas on 5/13/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was added new to my F150 and the factory door speakers were replaced. Now it produces full range audio! The specific model was chosen for size because it had to fit behind the PU Truck seat (regular cab). I chose to use the line outs from the HD radio for sub woofer instead of splicing into the rear speakers and it has just enough thump to suit me. Old guys don't need to rattle the windows, just a little back massage :)

Pros: compact package, great fit, does what I want!

Cons: None

So Simple!

Thomas B. from Mentor, OH on 4/10/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This bass tube is beyond simple to install! The 30 minute claim for installation is no exaggeration if you can thread the harness through the dash, instead of taking it apart. I installed this in my 2004 Silverado extended cab, and it filled in a large hole in my music. The bass won't rattle the vehicle, but it will boom. If you've never installed a sub in a car, don't fear. This one is a snap!

Pros: Easy install, affordable, plug-n-play.

Cons: None.

Just what I wanted!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put this sub in my 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic ext-cab work truck for those long trips. I had already installed a HU and some speakers in the front doors, but was missing that "thump" in my music. After installing the sub my music has been filled in. I have had another Bazooka in another truck that was excellent and it delivers again. I was impressed by the ease of installation, and if I change vehicles it is easy to take out and install in another vehicle. This sub will not "wake the dead", but will add the low end of your music. I used the RCA inputs that come with the F.A.S.T. connection to tweak the bass even more through my HU.

Pros: reasonable price, excellent product, easy installation

Cons: none

Nice clear bass sound. you have to play with the gain to get it just right. Aimed into the corner of the trunk and you can feel it throughout the car. Won't blow the windows out but it will annoy the guy next to you

Pros: Easy to hook up

Cons: Unit is quite big

Awesome for the price and size!

Jason M from Anaheim, CA on 3/16/2013

I was blown away by the output of this unit! Don't let the power or size distract you. It fills the cab of my Chevy 2500 up nicely with good accurate bass. Only draws 7.5 amps too so power is easy to find!

Pros: Great price and small size!

Cons: No adjustable crossover. Not a big deal though.

Good product but you made need a pro to install it

Parrish from Monticello , Ky on 2/9/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am extremely satisfied with the product itself. It does exactly what I wanted it for all at a reasonable price. I'm a bit disappointed in the fact I wasn't able to install it myself and had to shell out an additional $132 to have it installed professionally. I've been ordering products from Crutchfield since 1994 and have always been completely satisfied with both the product and technical assistance until now. I should definitely say that it wasn't because tech support didn't try to help because they certainly did. I needed help with the wiring of this product for my 2010 GMC Acadia and they weren't able to send me wiring diagrams that helped. The ones they sent simply didn't match and they weren't able to talk me through the installation either. I finally realized I was in over my head, gave up and took it to a professional shop. The good news is that after installation, I'm more than satisfied. Ninteen years was an amazing track record with this company before finally being stumped though. Sometimes you get a tough one. I definitely will not hold this one-time glitch against the company and will not hesitate to order from them again.

Pros: Excellent product for the price, completely satisfied with its performance.

Cons: Had to have it professionally installed for an extra $132. Tech support tried but was unable to help, wiring diagrams didn't match and they couldn't talk me through the install.

I bought this for my girlfriends 2003 eclipse with the infinity factory system. Install was a breeze and this fills in the sound seamlessly. It doesn't overpower the factory system at all, but adds plenty of low deep bass to all music

Pros: If used with a factory system,or an aftermarket deck with no external amps for the misd/highs in a hatchback or truck you'll love it

Cons: In a sedan or a system with an aftermarket amp go the 100 or 200 watt

Great Sound

Tom C from Orlando Florida on 12/28/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was an add-on to a stock stereo. The 8"- 50 watt has more than enough power to fill out the sound. The factory radio connection kit was nice as it uses the same power for the radio so there is no need to run a separate power cable from the battery. The harness also has a set of RCA cables as well as hi level speaker inputs for flexibility.

Pros: Factory radio connection kit, awesome sound for the price, took about 1 hour to install start to finish

Cons: Determining the speakers wires on the factory radio

Awesome for Nooby Beginners

Kevin from Canada on 11/30/2012

All you gotta do it google what wires to connect to behind your radio and your good to go. Took no time at all once i knew which wires to connect to what. I have a station wagon so the 8" is just right. If it was in a car i think in might need to be a bit bigger. Today i even managed to get an old guy to give me a dirty look; needless to say it made me very content in my purchase. On a side note, the car's bass tuner works on the tube so you can turn it down when you want and can leave the sub's knob on full. All in all i would definitely buy it again.

Pros: Insane for the price simple to install awesome for noobs to subs

Cons: Its a tube so it needs to be screwed down

Good Bass for the price..........

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in Chevy Cruze, makes a great combination with Factory stereo, inside vehicle the sound is great and haven't had any rattles issues with license plate. Gave me the additional bass required to hear music clear. Also upgraded rear door speakers with Kenwoods. I really enjoy my sound system now, can put volume up to 40 and there is no distortion.

Pros: Easy to install and takes minimal space from trunck.

Cons: OEM radio did not have power antenna wire, so had to obtain ignition signal from power outlet. Installation sheet does mentioned options for connection, so no big deal. But would have reduced installation time if was prepared to have extra wire to complete splice.

Put this is my 2004 accord and thought it wasn't going to do much but I was wrong. I've had 2 JL 12" before and of course those were loud but I'm past that stage where I want everyone to hear my music so I went with these... They fill the cabin of the car with just the perfect amount of bass and doesn't distort at high levels.... People who say it doesn't rattle rear view mirrors aren't just listening to music with much bass to it cause mine does rattle.

Pros: Very easy installation.

Cons: Ground wire is too short.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed some bass to fill out my factory system in my Chevy Cruze. The bazooka does a nice job of it. It does not play super low or is it super loud, I have to turn the gain to max to get decent loudness (only 50 watts), but it does the job. I have it installed in my trunk, but it does fill out the cabin with good if somewhat boomy bass. If I had to do it again I would probably go with the 10 inch 100 watt model for louder deeper bass...I think the 8 inch 50 watt version is more suitable for trucks and hatchbacks were the unit is located directly in the cabin. I might try moving the tube from the trunk to behind the driver's seat to see if I can get a slightly better sound...but I am mostly satisfied with the product.

Pros: Ease of install.(no drilling through the firewall to connect to the battery) Decent sounding bass for the price.

Cons: Underpowered for trunk install. Included instructions not the best.

Great Sub Once Hooked Up...

Phil from Santa Rosa, CA on 5/22/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I gave this 5 stars because the sub is great! However, I had trouble installing it. This may be completely my fault, but my sub did not come with the quick release jumper. Prior to realizing the solution, I was scratching my head trying to figure out why my brand new sub produced zero sound. I kept thinking I had the wrong speaker wires hooked up behind the head unit (a factory 6000CD in my 2011 Ford Transit Connect). But I had them correct. I also checked my ground and positive 12v with my meter and everything checked out just fine. After looking at the diagram and noticing that two of the terminals on the sub were for a quick release jumper, I had to wonder if that was the issue. The wire harness didn't have any leads to connect to those two terminals. I didn't want a quick release jumper anyhow, so I cut the plastic connector where the two terminals are, and made my own custom jumper and piened it to the two terminals for a solid connection. I connected the now modified wire harness and, voila, sound! Was I supposed to have this quick connector in the packaging of my sub? Was I supposed to know ahead of time to order it separately? (although I'm unsure how it would connect to the existing wire harness). In any event, I figured it out and the sub works....sounds awesome, and I can't complain :)

Pros: Sounds great considering no amp is needed

Cons: Almost flawless install

easiest install ever!

MikeM from Clements, MD on 5/2/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The install with the factory fast system made the install a breeze, 45 minutes and I was done. The tube itself puts out an impressive level of bass, but I think the acoustics in the 2012 chrysler 200 dampen the sounds coming from the trunk so unfortunately I really don't hear or feel much of it, but it is a substantial increase, the level is almost at full blast as well. Again this is a great product, just the acoustics in my trunk make it hard to enjoy.

Pros: small leaves a lot of space available.

Cons: none

Recieved this product today and after a couple hours I am ready to rock. Hardest part of the install was removing panels and finding a spot in my trunk to mount the brackets. Crutchfields tech support hasn't failed me yet and they always provide you with drawings to make the install easy. Bass is clean for what it is. Exactly what I was looking for ,no rearview mirror rattling but you feel the bass when it hits. I never go anywhere else when it comes to car audio/video. Thanks Crutchfield!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The advertised 30 minute install is grossly exaggerated. You may be able to install your second one in 30 minutes, but it took me a couple of hours altogether. Overall, it was a clean install and the product seems well designed and built. My son is pleased with the sound. I think it was a pretty good value as well. Recommended.

Pros: Looks good and sounds good.

Cons: Install time as advertised is a joke.

Great sound to perk up that stock system

Shad0wguy from Patchogue, NY on 3/26/2012

I bought this sub in hopes of perking up the low end of my stock system, and to that effect it succeeded. I didn't want to replace the head unit in my car or I'd lose all the integrated functions in my 2012 Hyundai Accent. And being a lease I didn't want to cut up the wiring harness. This sub provided the low end I was looking for, and at only 50W I was surprised it managed that. I am constantly in awe as to the sound this thing can put out. It won't rattle your trunk like some high end setups, but it will round out your sound and give you some nice thumps given the right music.

Great little sub for the money

Patman from SW Ohio on 3/25/2012

I bought this sub from the recommendation of fellow Cruze Owners and glad I did!! The stock stereo was lacking any kind of bass output. While some people want a sub that will really pump the bass. I was looking for a nominal performance increase and this did it This sub is a great addition to the stock stereo to give it the sound it was missing and for a great price!!. Easy to install, great sound clarity and I can hear my stereo without turning the volume up to 40 +.

Pros: Small easy to install and good value for the price. Definitely recommend!

Cons: None known so far

Installed in about half an hour in my CrewMax. Connected it to my Kenwood DNX6990 HD and it seems to be a perfect fit. I don't play my musice for my neighbors so this sub gives me just enough punch to fill in what I was missing but yes you can feel it even at low volume levels. Very tight and clean. Fits well behind the rear seats....used a razor to cut a slit in carpet and fished the wires up to the center console and up the the head unit.

Pros: good fit, tight bass, easy install, easy remove

Cons: none

Great Add-on to a factory system

MarkL from Nashville, TN on 3/24/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I don't really have much to add that hasn't already been said in the other reviews. This was installed in a 2010 Mini Cooper S and provides a perfect solution for adding bass to a factory system while not taking up too much space. The sub is not overpowering and the distortion isn't too bad. I think it is a great value and would recommend it to anyone looking for a budget friendly addition to their factory audio system.

Pros: Value. Factory wiring harness included. I purchased it and had it installed for $225!!!

Cons: None. No complaints whatsoever. Item is as advertised.

Exactly what I was looking for

Dustin from Charleston, WV on 3/12/2012

This product isn't going to rattle your teeth, but, if you are looking for a reasonably priced way to fill in the bottom end of the sound spectrum in your car, this is the way to go. I have an 06 Civic Sedan that needed the stock speakers replaced. I went with a lower end set of Pioneers, that were noted in several reviews for a lack of bass, and opted to leave the factory head-unit. Overall I ended up with nice crisp sounds throughout the spectrum and just the right amount of bass to fill out the sound. Installation was a snap using the FAST set up that comes with this speaker and I was ablt to hide everything away nicely. I will note that the install time listed in the product description is a wee bit on the low side. It took about 40 minutes to install after an hour of figuring everything out. The included instructions are not good and reference steps and parts you don't need for the 50 watt unit.

Pros: Relatively easy install, FAST wiring set-up is very handy, great sound, great value

Cons: Misleading and confusing directions included in the package.

Very nice unit, took about 40 minutes start to finish. Installed in back corner of an 11 scion tc, firing into the back of the hatch. Didnt even need a dedicated power wire. Ran to the key on wire that powers the factory head unit. Produces very deep clean bass! Rivals the sound of two low powered 10's in a sealed box i once had. You wont really feel much, but the sound is there.

Pros: Great price, wire kit that was included was perfect. Clean sound, wont disturb the peace.

Cons: Strap retention kit is marginal, a flat bottom would be perfect! Not as compact length wise.

Perfect upgrade for stock radio

SLNGSHT from Roanoke, VA on 6/10/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This went in my '06 Scion xB. I'm middle-aged and like good full sound, and I've had much larger systems in the past and I couldn't be more happy with this purchase decision. Even though it's only 50W, I can't turn it up too loud without it being too much for average listening. It reproduces bass that's not perfectly tight, but it exceeded my expectations. It doesn't rattle the mirrors or the license plate. If you're looking for that, go elsewhere. For more sensible buyers who are listening to music to listen to the music, this will be perfect Installation was easy. One strand of wires runs from the front to the back and it was just long enough to do the job. The ground wire could have been a bit longer, but it's not horrible. The wires on my factory harness weren't your standard colors, so I called up Crutchfield, was on the phone less than three minutes and I was emailed a wiring diagram of my car. Important note: The product description mentions availability of the remote bass level control, but this is NOT CORRECT. It's not compatible with this model. It does have a level control on the bass tube which can be adjusted. Since the sub ties into the speaker outputs, set the bass adjustment on your head unit to zero and adjust the bass level to a comfortable level after you get it installed. Then you can adjust the sub's output using the bass level control on the head unit up or down from there.

Bass on a Budget

Sean from NY on 4/10/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great addition to a factory system that needs some bass to round it out. Since the amp is only 50 watts, I would advise anyone with an aftermarket system (or even some high end factory systems) that are more than 25-35 watts per channel RMS to consult the people at Crutchfield about going with something more powerful. If you are not looking to rattle your fillings loose and just want to compliment a lower powered system than you should be very happy with this sub. My only complaint is that they claim a 30 minute installation time. I allowed more time because I knew from experience that claim was more fantasy the fact. If you're a pro installer and get just the right car then MAYBE that's possible. I would expect between 1-2 hours depending on vehicle and experience level. I would also suggest a factory service manual such as those from Chilton's or Haynes so you have a listing of which wires are which when you install the harness. If not then a multimeter will be needed to identify the power sources and speakers. It's better to be thorough and don't rush, making sure to run the supplied harness in a safe location that won't be disturbed by re-installation of seats or trim pieces. I would also check to make sure everything works properly before reassembling anything you removed during installation.

Perfect for my needs.

Froth from Churchville, MD on 3/27/2011

Absolutely perfect, exactly what I was looking for. Enough bass to vibrate the seat and doors but not enough to rattle the trunk or anything else. Sub is in the trunk of a Honda S2000 to give an idea of the room and relative location. Ease of installation was impressive, had it completely installed and wires tucked out of sight in under an Hour. I can even remove it in 30 seconds for trunk space if I need to. I'd give it 6 stars if that were an option. A+++ Exactly what I was looking for. If you're looking to hear the rest of the music you've been missing but not wake up your neighbors bumping all hours of the night this is exactly what you should be looking for. Price, Value, Quality and Ease of installation. Bazooka has it all - Very satisfied customer.

Irshad from Cleveland on 8/30/2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really like this. It takes up little room, fits well and sounds pretty good for the price. I wasn't terribly happy that I did have to go to a professional to have it installed even though it included the the wiring, and I called Crutchfield to ask specifically if I had everything I needed, they said I did with an additional tool. That did not include trying to figure out some more wiring, crimping and finding an accessory outlet, etc. German cars are complicated and they were unable to truly help...was frustrating because i was up late night trying to do this. As a product, I would recommend this product if you want some good, tight bass without over-whelming or muddying the sound. Don't expect to rattle your windows.

Corner Loading: The Bazooka Bass Tubes enclosure is optimized for corner loading. The Bass Tube enclosure's port and woofer are on the same plane and in close proximity for maximum corner-loading results. The corner of your car amplifies the concentrated bass output of the Bass Tube enclosure.

F.A.S.T. Harness: F.A.S.T. is an innovative universal harness system that allows you to integrate the Bazooka subwoofer into the vast majority of factory and aftermarket sound systems. The included FAST-9999 universal harness uses the patented Posi-Tap connector from Posi-Products for making fast, secure connections to your OEM/aftermarket headunit's wire harness. The included FAST-BTAH extension harness is routed from the Bazooka Tube location to the radio; one end connects to the FAST-9999 universal harness, and the other end to the amplified bass tube. The extension harness also contains RCA line level inputs (at the radio end) and a ground wire which will need to be grounded to the metal chassis of your vehicle.

Note: The FAST-9999 universal harness features the following wire leads - Red (+12V), Blue/White (Remote turn-on), White (LF+), White/Black (LF-), Gray (RF+), and Gray/Black (RF-).

Signal Inputs: The included FAST-BTAH extension harness has line level (male RCA plugs) and speaker level (Posi-Tap connectors on the FAST-9999 harnes) inputs.

Mounting Straps: The BTA850FH comes with straps to keep the bass tube securely mounted, while still making removal quick and easy if you need more cargo room.

I love it in my Camry so would think it would sound great in a comparably sized accord. [ MICHAEL  Apr 23, 2018 ]
I think it would be ok i have mine in a 2000 trans am sounds great [ AARON  Apr 23, 2018 ]
I have had one for two years now, installed in a Silverado. It is really easy to tune and sounds great in the truck. It added some much needed punch. [ David  Apr 07, 2018 ]
I have a small hatchback and its great to round out the base beyond factory. However, if you like loud base without distortion at max volume levels, I'd go with the 100-watt version at a minimum. [ Grant  Apr 07, 2018 ]
No. It only produces extremely low frequencies. My stereo sounded better without this tube. [ Thomas  Apr 07, 2018 ]
I installed this behind the bench seat in a 79 Ford F150. It has plenty of power for the relatively small cab space, and it fills out the low end perfectly with windows down out on the highway during summer cruising. If you want to rattle windows or hear it from 100 feet away, it is not enough; but more than adequate if you want nice balance at moderate volumes. [ Mark  Apr 07, 2018 ]

I installed mine in a Honda Pilot. Two things I spent some time working on was finding a good rubber grommet in the firewall that was not being used for factory wiring. This is critical for proper wire routing and wire protection. The second thing was the routing of the wires from the dash to the rear of the car. I removed numerous pieces of trim from the lower door jams so I could hide and secure the wires. The rest of the install was easy based on the support from techs at crutchfield. [ Steve  Nov 10, 2017 ]
We put one in our lLiberty and it really helped support the bass while saving lots of space, and simplifying the install. I feel like it rolls off at its high end, leaving a little gap below the in- door speakers, though. If you have room, consider the ten inch. Otherwise, a little equalization may do the trick. I would buy it again in this installation. [ ALAN  Sep 27, 2017 ]
It did the trick for my Mercury Grand Marque jus as is! Was pleasantly surprised, I've installed power amps before but there was no need with this model. You will not be disappointed. [ ANTHONY  Sep 27, 2017 ]
I have this in my chevy s10 behind the seats. If you want extra bass but not overpowering bass this is perfect. Installation was simple [ Greg  Sep 27, 2017 ]
If you can fit it in the cabin, yes. If you need to put it in the trunk, don't bother. [ Brandon  Sep 27, 2017 ]
I'm a truck driver and have mine inside a Freightliner. If you install it in the cab of your car it will be way powerful. If you install it in your trunk, then hopefully you have fold down seats in the back. Then it will still be more bass than you need. If its isolated in the trunk with no way for the moving air to get to the cab of the car, then Im not sure. [ steve  Sep 27, 2017 ]
Yes it is, that remote is the best way to manage the output. [ Harrell  Jul 22, 2017 ]
It does, both RCA and speaker level inputs are included [ Jose  Jul 19, 2017 ]
Yespecially it's part of the wiring [ Matthew  Jul 17, 2017 ]
Yes. The wiring harness has it all in one deal. real easy to install into the back of the head unit. [ Paul  Jul 17, 2017 ]
Yes, It comes with everything to connect it to anything. [ Russell  Jul 17, 2017 ]
Nothing is connected to the battery with this kit ,it all plugs to the back of the head unit and everything is included in the box ,very easy to hook up. [ Michael  Apr 16, 2017 ]
It comes with everything. [ Jason  Apr 16, 2017 ]
It just draws power from your head units power line [ kyle  Apr 15, 2017 ]
This comes with a harness connector that patches into an amp that's wired to the battery. If you've got the amp, I don't think you need anything further. [ ROBERT J  Apr 15, 2017 ]
Yep, the wiring kit that comes with it is all you need. It piggy backs your radio wires for power and sound. Then you have to ground it in your trunk at the other end of the wire harness. If you have trouble with the wire colors in your car not matching up with the bazooka wire kit, just email crutchfield with your make model and year of car and they'll tell you which wires are which. [ Ross  Apr 15, 2017 ]
yep this is all u need, i actually have mine installed on golf cart [ DWIGHT A  Apr 14, 2017 ]
You should not have a problem what so ever. The unit comes with detailed instructions on how to hook the wiring into the factory system. I installed the Bazooka tube on my wife's 2010 Malibu with ease. Helpful hint: Figure out where you are going to place the tube, run your wiring first, make your splice connections with the supplied materials, then mount and plug in the tube. In the Malibu, I was able to go beside the transmission hump, under the carpet to the driver door jamb, under the door still plastic to the rear floor board, pulled the bottom of the back seat out, ran across the bottom of the seat tub, and stopped at my connection point in the trunk. You should have well enough length in wiring. Leave yourself some slack as well, just tuck it under the back seat before snapping it back into place. If you have any experience with car audio wiring is a breeze. Don't let it intimidate you. Also, as far as running the wire, take your time and be patient. Don't get too aggressive removing the trim it simply pulls off and clips right back on. I hope this helps. Hint #2: Play with the gain on the tube to get the desired sound. Your not going to wake the neighbors, but this thing will add that extra bass most all factory systems lack. I love it. [ Ron  Nov 19, 2016 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. Hope that helps! Absolutely! With the supplied wiring, installation is an ease if you have any car audio knowledge and read the directions. If anything is difficult, it would be routing the wires to keep them hidden. Begin routing behind your factory head unit until you reach the location you intend on mounting the tube, then begin hooking up your wiring and mounting your tube. You should have no problems. [ Ron  May 27, 2016 ]
Yes. The speaker includes an universal harness that is extremely easy to add to any factory stereo. Amp is built in so you don't have to add one. This saves space in your trunk. Good luck! [ ERNIE J  May 16, 2016 ]
it should. It literally taps directly into the power and audio lines of your current harness. [ timothy  May 03, 2016 ]

I've had a few of these units. If you use the fast connect properly , the bazooka will be protected by the head unit fuse since it connects into the head units power wire. No need to worry about dead battery in the morning. The bazookas have an automatic shut off once there is no signal being sent to it. You'll probably notice that it takes the bazooka a few seconds to kick in when you first turn the head unit on. [ steve  Jan 02, 2016 ]
I connected fine without any connection to the battery. Worked just fine and never had any issues with battery drainage. [ MARY  Jan 02, 2016 ]
You will still need to power the sub. Use only RCA cables with mine and did not work. The factory wiring kit is pretty striaght forward [ michael  Nov 04, 2015 ]

Yes you will need to tie it into the harness wires, although the only ones I needed were the ground (black), power (red), and controller (blue). The others are if you want to use speaker wires for different output settings, they are not needed if you use RCA wires. [ Harrell  Jul 22, 2017 ]
I used the wiring harness that is supplied with the bazooka bass tube, works great, easy installation! [ Richard  Aug 14, 2015 ]
No [ MEGAN M  Apr 01, 2015 ]
NO, I would not use this in a marine application. The woofer itself is a paper material and the electronics probably wouldn't hold up long term with the moisture. [ BRIAN  Apr 01, 2015 ]
no, this is a subwoofer for a car or truck [ TERRY  Apr 01, 2015 ]

Hello Scott, If your amp draw from the head unit and sub at rated max output do not exceed the rated amp on the fuse, you will be ok doing this. I how ever have an aftermarket head unit that controls the sub. The factory wire harness in my vehicle which already had an amp from the factory has a separate hot lead from the fuse box along with the head unit lead for powering a separate amp so I did not need to hook up a separate wire for the sub. If you do not have this style, you will need to hook up to a separate power lead from the fuse box or battery to power your sub. I hope this helps. Good luck Paul [ PAUL  Jan 29, 2014 ]
Hi Scott, I have seen online that people have wired the power both ways with good results. I was skeptical about pairing it to the head unit since it's rated max draw and fusing didn't leave much room and the wiring wasn't accessable once in place to see if it was getting too hot and might cause a problem so I opted for the safest way with a 10 amp fuse at the battery to the bazooka power supply. That way if anything ever happens to the hot lead and it shorts it will blow the fuse at the battery and not harm anything else (the old smoking wire under the dash because they were fused at that end and not the battery eventually rubbing up against something exposing the insulation and poof). So for less than $10 a rubber fuse holder and wire from my local NAPA store I feel safer with the installation and won't be looking for any surprizes. It's your call ... check what the MAX amp/volt draw is to see what you have available to insure there won't be a atrain on your fused factory link if your going to tap in on the existing supply. Hope this helps, best of luck, Dave [ DAVID J  Jan 27, 2014 ]
