About the Kicker 10CVT654
Kicker's space-saving CompVT subwoofers combine outstanding power handling with the ability to fit in your vehicle's tight spots. These extra-shallow speakers combine extended cone excursion and a low-profile frame, without sacrificing sound quality or bass impact.
6-3/4" sub, less than 3" deep
Kicker's 10CVT654 6-3/4" sub handles up to a hefty 150 watts RMS, while requiring less than 3 inches of mounting depth. The rigid, injection-molded polypropylene cone provides excellent definition and depth, while the ribbed Santoprene™ rubber surround helps control cone movement for accurate response. Perimeter venting on the stamped-steel basket keeps the sub cool under pressure. And Kicker certifies this tough little sub as suitable for marine use.
This versatile subwoofer works in a sealed box, so you can build your own custom enclosure. This sub also works in free-air applications, so you can install it without an enclosure in car doors, rear decks, and other places too tight for normal subs. A unique design lets you mount the CompVT sub directly against the back wall of an enclosure to save even more space. Use your imagination — this Kicker CompVT sub lets you put well-rounded bass in almost any vehicle or boat.

Kicker 10CVT654 reviews
This is the best Sound for a factory head unit and amp in a 2005 jeep wrangler. I made minor modifications to the console speaker box with a dremel tool and redrilled the mounting holes. This a was very simple installation which included polk audio dash speakers. The Factory look is what i was after and it made a major possitive difference in the sound of this system . Highly recommended !
Pros: Simple installation and quality sound

This subwoofer is exactly what I was looking for to install to my 02 Wrangler after the old one finally blew. With very little modification to the stock center console box (just shaving a few of the reinforcement bars inside) it fit perfectly. Instead of using the factoy amplifier I picked up a reockford fosgate 300 watt amplifier and hid that under the steering wheel. It has the perfect amount of power! It sounds great and can get plenty loud enough that at a light my buddy in the car beside me knew I had it. And all this out of this little sub! I would recommend this to anyone wanting to add enough bass for quality sound but not if your trying to rattle your doors off it won't do that. But it sounds great right now and I look forward to years of enjoyment.
Pros: Great fit Great sound Easy to install

I purchased this 6 1/2" sub to replace the factory subwoofer in my 2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ located in the center console. Although it isn't a plug and play replacement if you're even a little comfortable with a dremel and a drill it's an easy fit. It is about 1/4" deeper than the factory speaker, so you'll need to use the dremel to cut away some of the plastic in the factory enclosure and drill new mounting holes since the Kicker holes don't line up with the factory mounting holes. Then just cut the wires from the factory sub, strip the red and white (the factory sub had 4 wires, but you only need 2 for this one). I was able to do the entire install including figuring out what needed to be cut within an hour. Easy as that and sounds 10 times better than the factory subwoofer!
Pros: Sounds great!
Cons: Requires some modification to fit the Jeep TJ factory enclosure.

Like others, my 2001 TJ center console sub was toast and saw this was a great replacement option. Tons of stuff out there on youtube about removing the console and a minor adjustment your need to get the kicker sub to fit. It was very easy and I ended up using a simple chisel tool to remove some plastic and it drop right in. Powered is up with a simple amp and WOW what a difference. I'm not an audiophile, don't overthink this...just do it!
Pros: -fits great in a wrangler TJ -price -just enough thump where I don't wake up the neighborhood!

I replaced the factory sub in my Jeep with this. It sounded horrible until I added an amp now it sounds really good.
Pros: Great sub for such a small size. Good replacement for a factory sub
Cons: Definitely needs an amp

I have this sub installed in the back wall of my 04 Nissan Sentra Spec-V. I replaced the stock sub built into the back wall without mods with this and boy does it blow it away hands down. I have Rockford Fosgate Punch P1652-S components with it in the back & Rockford Fosgate P1S652 Coaxial in the front. These are powered by my older but yet still kicking DEH-P4800MP HU, not my amp. I am powering this sub with a Kenwood KAC-5204 bridged at 150W. This Kicker needs this kind of power to get the full experience. I had it powered just from my HU at 25W RMS for a couple of days before I got my amp and did OK but nothing near the sound when powered properly. Here's a suggestion. This sub seems to shine much better with your amp's LPF on OFF. I have mine set this way and it really comes to life whereas I had LPF on and it did distort quicker and didn't have much punch. With LPF OFF it came to life and surprisingly goes very low as well. It will rumble in your cabin even to point of feeling it in your seats. Don't expect booming bass heard that rattles house windows. This is not capable of that whatsoever. I have my HU's Low Center frequency set at 40hz on the low end and this sub handles it just fine for inside my car. I have my HPF on my HU set at 63hz. With these settings my system sounds very impressive and this Kicker is just what I was needing to fill in the low end. I will definitely be looking at Kicker 1st when I need another sub
Pros: Sound, Size, Low End Frequency, Looks good, Price

I installed the kicker sub in my 2004 Jeep wrangler, in place of the cheap factory one in the center console. The shallow depth of the kicker allowed me to install it with only minor modifications to the speaker box. Crutchfield service was excelent the packaging was great. The e-mail that was provided allowed me to track the item, all the way up to delivery. I will be looking to purchase an amp from Crutchfield to provide this kicker with the power that it deserves.

These things are great for mid bass, well that's what i'm using them for... i set these up in my 06 2500 dodge ram in the front doors, stock 6x9 location with modification. After making a 6x9 to 6 1/2 mod and complete inner/outter door sound deadener to keep the door solid and sound in, it was a great improvement. Now ppl may wonder why i did this is because i have kids and i cant really play my subs when we go anywhere and to keep the misses happy too. i still have that low end tone that just wont be to loud. Very happy with this sub woofer.

If you have a deteriorated sub-woofer in your JBL equipped Lincoln Town Car, this is a great replacement for the factory enclosure. I did have to use a Dremel to trim away the plastic trim ring but after that it fit perfectly in the enclosure and sounds awesome. 4 ohms matches the factory JBL amplifier impedance.

With the extremely limited amount of space in a Jeep Wrangler I really wanted to have the subwoofer in the center console just like is was from the factory (The factory sub and amp were toasted). This is the only subwoofer I could find that was shallow enough to replace the factory subwoofer in my 2003 Wrangler. Using my Dremel, I did have to remove some support ribs inside the factory sub enclosure. To power this subwoofer I also purchased a JVC amp from Crutchfield and mounted it underneath the rear seat. In the end, this subwoofer doesn't blow you out of the seat but has added very good depth. And matched up with my new JVC-KDA815 reciever, new Polk speakers in both the dash and the rollbar, the system sounds great!!

This was the most cost effective good sounding solution to convert the premium Harmon Kardon single sub in my 2000 M Roadster. To see how to modify the Kicker 10CVT654 to fit the stock enclosure go to the online fourms and search for "subwoofer upgrade" or "kicker" in the Z3 section. I can vouch for this solution. It sounds very good.

Spoke Cone: The modified-spoke cone design helps provide maximum excursion from a slender basket. The ultra high performance injection molded polypropylene cone remains rigid and minimizes cone flex, lowering harmonic distortion. Distortion in the cone is further reduced with 360° back bracing.
Santoprene Surround: The optimized ribbed Santoprene surround allows extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. The surround is stitched to the cone to add a mechanical fastener to the chemical adhesives. This prevents the cone and surround from separating in the harshest conditions.
Basket and Motor Assembly: The high-strength steel basket features a low-profile open design, and provides a solid foundation for the precision-aligned motor assembly. Perimeter venting relieves pressure under the spider, supports a linear excursion, and helps dissipate heat from the voice coil and motor structure.
Tinsel Leads: CVT subwoofers use Spiralead tinsel-lead technology, which allows the ideal amount of flex for better strength and durability. The tinsel lead wires are woven into the spider to relieve mechanical stress.
Spring-Loaded Terminals: The Kicker CVT subwoofer features special spring-loaded binding posts for minimizing depth.
Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation. The boot is removable if needed for tight installations.
Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker Comp VT speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speaker very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately 2 weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.
Shallow-Mount: Kicker's new CVT series is designed to minimize depth, giving you subwoofer options where standard enclosures don't fit. The vent-less, solid-pole design allows the woofer to be mounted directly against the rear wall of a sealed. The spring-loaded binding posts are mounted parallel to the cone surface to minimize depth. Also the steel Clearance Adapter Plate enables you to cut out part of the back of the enclosure to create more room for the woofer magnet, subtracting the enclosure wall depth from the equation.
Recommended Enclosure: Kicker recommends a sealed enclosure for the 08CVT654. A vented enclosure is not recommended. The enclosure should be filled to 50% with loose poly-fil (polyester fiberfill) stuffing. The panel dimensions for a 0.2 cubic foot compact sealed enclosure (using 1/2" thick MDF) are:
- Front and Rear Panels: 14" x 14"
- Top and Bottom Panels: 14" x 2"
- Side Panels: 12.5" x 2"
Recommended Sealed Box Volume:
- Compact (minimum enclosure volume): 0.2 cu/ft; the woofer can handle up to 150 watts RMS.
- SQ (maximum enclosure volume): 3.0 cu/ft; the woofer can handle up to 150 watts RMS
Free-air Compatible: The subwoofer is also designed to be mounted without an enclosure. The subwoofer can be mounted on a baffle board which separates two areas of the vehicle. For instance, you could mount this woofer to a board attached to the rear deck or placed in the trunk against the rear seat. The trunk acts as the enclosure housing the subwoofer. Free-air subwoofers save space and have flat frequency response.
