Reliable and doubles as a back massager

1999 Ford Crown Victoria
Have had this in my 99 crown vic behind the driver seat along with a nice kicker component set up hooked to a 1200 watt 4 channel and it sounds as if I have a 10" alpine type s in the trunk. Perfect if you need trunk space in your daily or want a easy set up. Took me 45 mins to install after work. Have had plenty of passengers step on it like it was a floor mat and it still works great. Also, it was a scratch and dent, so I saved like $70. Crutchfield is the only place I trust enough to spend my money on scratch and dent!
Pros: Beats for what it is, use your whole trunk without messing with big subs
Cons: Makes me miss having bigger subs

Good Product, Good Value
Scott from Bellevue, NE on 6/8/2022
I think placement has a lot to do with the punch you will get from this unit, and I ended up with just one spot it would go in my 2011 Wrangler JK, which has impacted quality. That said, it is providing the low end I was looking for to enhance my after-market head unit. Installation was fairly straight-forward, as I used my head unit's RCA outputs and, in the JK, running the power up to the battery turned out to be easier than I expected. The only beef I have with Kicker is that they provide conflicting information on what does and doesn't need to be wired on these HS10 (and HS8) units. If you are using the RCA outs, you do still want to connect the blue wire in the harness to the corresponding blue remote wire out from your head unit. Leaving this off keeps the sub from receiving notification it needs power. This was not at all clear, in again conflicting info from Kicker online. I do think the Crutchfield installation instructions could be updated to include wiring specific for this unit as well, but perhaps they felt Kicker had a handle on it. I'd say, not so much. :) In summary, I believe I received good value for the product and it's doing what I want it to do, so no complaints!
Pros: Easy install
Cons: Kicker instructions are incomplete

Died 2 weeks after warranty end
Jacek from Roanoke, TX on 5/30/2022
I installed it under the passenger seat in my 2020 Honda Accord Hybrid. I liked it a lot while it worked. Just the right amount of bass to make the music sound good. But on a recent road trip it suddenly stopped working. Took it apart, measured the coil on the speaker and it turns out to be blown. The speaker seems to be custom (the only marking on it is a number 2046) so likely no way to find a replacement. Sucks.
Pros: Sounds really good. Probably the biggest sub you can fit under a seat in Honda Accord,
Cons: Lasts only 1 year.

This is the perfect sub for what I wanted. It was very easy to install to my non JBL factory tacoma, and fits perfectly behind the rear passenger seat (double cab). The sound is great and it love that I can control thr bass with the wired remote.
Pros: Settings to connect to a factory head unit. Perfect amount of bass. Great size. Easy settings to control output. Remote control of bass.
Cons: The speaker wires were just a bit too short.

I connected to the rear speaker wires from behind the head unit. Took about 2-1/2 hours. The connector is gray. Here is the colors for the wires. Blue=RR+ White=RR- Yellow=LR+ Brown =LR-
Pros: Fits under seat. Sounds great. Easy install.

2015 Ecoboost Mustang -The construction of this unit is solid, and the installation was a breeze. I have a rear seat delete and I mounted this in the trunk. You can definitely hear/feel the bass and it allows the mids and highs to come through more clear on the other speakers. I'm giving it 4 stars because I think it should be better with its specs, but I also think I have to get it dialed in correctly.

2016 Wrangler JK 2 Door I decided to write this review since I couldn't find a suitable one for my 2-door Jeep JK. The Fit: It doesn't fit under any seat. Period. I installed it in the little storage compartment in the trunk. It fits but not perfectly. I am fine with how it fits but if you're a perfectionist, you will want it to be.. well.. a perfect fit. When you place the trunk cover on top of it, you will notice it is not a completely flushed fit but that's it. I am extremely happy with it. The Speaker: Heavy, durable, and sounds great with my Pioneer AVH601EX radio. It provides a great deal of bass.
Pros: Sound Quality Size

Decent bass for a small area,.I installed one under each front seat in a new Bronco. Had to raise the seat about 3/4" with spacers....no biggie. They hit good low bass notes and sound great for what little air they move. Easy to install with the included wires. Great choice as a space saver. Two of them sound about as good as one decent 10" in a normal sized enclosure without an losing any space! Two of these, when combined with JL 6w3v3 in kick panels and JL C2-400x in the dash and pods, the Bronco now sounds like a true audiophile would expect. So happy with the overall outcome.
Pros: Space saver bass at a decent price. Built in amp.
Cons: Marine waterproof version would have been even better!

I wasn't looking for a lot of bass in my 2022 F-150, so I replaced the door speakers and added an amp. It was not what I was expecting at all,so I decided I did in fact need a subwoofer. I got this for the size and good reviews. It fits behind the back seat, and install was simple. Its not going to rattle the windows or make your neighbors mad. With the bass turned all the way up, its exactly what I was looking for. It sounds better than the factory BO system, will slightly vibrate the rear view mirror, and gives the perfect lows to my door speakers highs. My system sounds perfect to me...if you're looking to have deep body shaking bass, this isn't it. But if you're middle aged like me, and want quality, this is perfect.
Pros: compact size
Cons: I have bass turned all the way up, and its the minimum I would want

This sub will add a little low end, but don't expect much. Installed in a 370z roadster which has two 6x9 woofers inside the convertible top storage space as part of the factory system. This sub didn't do much more than the 6x9 woofers we're doing already. For vehicles with no lows then this might be a nice add. However, if you're looking for solid deep bass, then this sub will not accomplish that goal (note - it's a compact so you shouldn't expect extreme lows).

Phillip from Clearwater, FL on 5/2/2022
2020 Chevrolet Colorado
When I went to an installer, they said they'd need to cut out the backseat frame of my new Chevy Colorado to make room for the subwoofer. I read all the reviews before purchasing. It is true, it's not like filling your entire trunk space with a giant sub. However when your short on space and don't want someone cutting on your new truck this is for you. I will say installing the sub was a little overwhelming as I've never done anything like this before. All instructions provided assume you have some sort of stereo equipment experience. That being said after several calls to customer service and extensive searches on YouTube, I was able to complete the install myself.
Pros: Compact quality sub for tight spaces. Enough Bass sound for the size of my truck and lack of other options to keep the factory look of my truck.
Cons: Instructions assume you have previous experience in connecting stereo equipment. Even the cruchfield instructions sheets for my specific truck didn't contain any instructions for connecting a subwoofer.

Excellent choice for an added bump not over powering but yet can be controlled with the bass knob. It does make your rear view mirror a bit blurry. Oh yeah! Installed in a 2020 F150 super crew, the only issue I had during the install was the speaker wires on the amp/speaker are not long enough to connect to the passenger side factory rear speaker wires. Had to splice in a 1foot extension. Other than that easy install. I do recommend running the 12v power cable through the firewall to your battery.
Pros: Easy install - 1hr or less, great bass, economical choice, sounds great!
Cons: The speaker wires on the Provided harness with speaker/amp are too short when routing under molding to the passenger side.

Exceeded all expectations. Thank you Kicker for building an affordable 10", built-in amp, compact sub-woofer that really delivers the thump!!! Installed in a 1999 Ford F150 Super Cab with Pioneer AVH-X491BHS receiver. Sub-woofer mounted to floor under rear bench seat. Note: Right side of 60/40 split, rear seat can't open flat as it now hits the sub-woofer case.
Pros: Essential, thick, dynamic bass from a small package.
Cons: Preferred using RCA speaker cables over tapping into rear speaker leads, but had to source two cables (P/N X0036SSZ0V) from a 3rd party vendor.

I'm going to give this 5 stars as "for the money" this is an excellent option. REALLY made our system come alive (aftermarket stereo and speakers) by simply adding this basic sub under the drivers seat. Sounds clean, and has base you can feel. Is it as good as a separate box/sub/amp you'd put in your trunk or hatch? Nope, but the fact that it's hidden, saves your trunk or hatch space, and likely would never be the target of a thief is key.

I installed this unit in my 2013 F150 SuperCrew. It fits very well behind the rear drivers side seat. It adds a very nice punch to the sound of my music. I did have to run a +12V wire from the radio to the subwoofer for the auto turn on as the auto signal detect did not work when I connected the speakers to RCA plugs on my headunit's subwoofer out. It does make the music sound a lot better and more full, but this doesn't have the hard punch for those songs that have heavy bass lines - I am experiencing a lot of distortion in those situations.

Kicker 46HS10 Powered Sub Works for Me.
Michael from COLUMBIA, TN on 3/8/2022
I bought this to replace a large enclosure 10" sub in my 2008 GMC extended cab Sierra 1500. The enclosure & amplifier took up all space under the rear seats, so that it greatly reduced storage. I wanted to be able to free up room so I thought I'd try this powered amp, believing that I would give up sound quality. I was wrong. This thing sounds better than I thought possible and is capable of matching the sound of the previous sub. This has worked out extremely well for me.

Hardest part was taking the trim off my car, had to look up the schematic to see what wires to connect to, but other than that, installation was a breeze. One of these subs has more than enough face slapping bass for my car. (2017 Hyundai Tucson) I threw it under my seat and it vibrates my whole body when turned all the way up. I keep it at about 1/4 to 1/2 bass power and it's more than enough. The bass remote is brilliant and really the cherry on top of the cake with this Kicker compact sub.
Pros: Remote controlled bass adjustment easy/safe to control when driving Compact size does not comprise sound/bass quality Plug and Play after installation
Cons: A little pricey (but worth it) Had to buy more 18gauge wire, minor and cheap inconvenience

Very Happy
Crutchfield customer from Colorado Springs, CO on 1/7/2022
There is not one review of what this thing sounds like in a Gen 5 4Runner more specifically a 2020 ORP non-JBL with nav so if you have a Gen 5 here you go. I ordered this from Crutchfield but had it installed at a local shop. I am not an expert installer and there are A LOT of wires behind the dash so I figured a shop can do in an hour what will take me a day. Plus, I won't have the of stress tapping the wrong wire. The guy who installed this for me said he didn't want me to be "disappointed" because in his opinion these things don't produce much bass (a small attempt at an upsell). In my head, I was saying, "Bro, I am 47 years old standing here in sweatpants wearing sandals with socks and I have to get my kids from school in like 3 hours. I have no intention to impress chicks in my 4Runner". My point is I am 23 years past the days of 2 12's in a box taking up my trunk and these days I need that trunk space for trips to COSTCO. I put mine under the passenger side front seat. The duct that sends heat to the feet of people in the back seat will have to be removed (not a big deal for me). It fits perfectly under the front seat and does not protrude or interfere with the operation of the seat at all. This speaker sounds amazing for what I want it to do which is round out a weak factory system. I primarily listen to old rock and metal and this sub gave me EXACTLY what I needed. I should also note that I replaced all my door speakers last year with Rockford Fosgate's.
Pros: Great sound that takes up little room
Cons: None for now

It's a good product for what I was using it for a single bed truck no room inside so the speaker worked out great. The only problem I have with it is the wire harness setup wish they would give a lot more length and wire to run where you can hide it. One more thing about the speaker that caught me off guard was it was supposed to fit underneath my seat but I have to modify my seat a little bit so it fits but other than that I truly enjoy it. And the customer service or technical support was great I lost the email where I was supposed to rate my experience with the technical help on the phone but it was great. The guy had a weird cool name can't remember. Thanks
Pros: Pretty much all in one unit had a wire harness that was great

I read reviews on powered subs till I was blue in the face for about a year. This was my first choice, lots of mediocre reviews. This thing thumps, had to dial it back. Install was easy, only called about specific speaker wires for hookup. I listen to mostly hard rock/metal. It's amazing how much better this sub makes my factory stereo sound. The unit fits nicely under my back seat in my Duha storage box. It's nice to feel the music again!
Pros: Really fills the cab with full sound. Compact size. The included wiring harness makes install simple.
Cons: None yet.

I installed the Kicker 46HS10 in my double cab Silverado and went pretty good. Tapping into the rear speakers was a slow process. Didn't know about the wire taps that screw onto wires without cutting until after the install. I will be ordering them for the sound ordnance powered sub I'm installing next on daughter's Jeep Wrangler. Love the bass the kicker KICKS OUT!!! Just the right amount. The head unit is factory 7" but have Rockford Fosgate components in front & full range in rear and the 10 "sub made it go Boom??
Pros: Adds good thumping bass without loosing any space my truck

Everything included in box, but underwhelmed
Jason from Ft Wayne, IN on 11/14/2021
2018 Buick Regal Sportback
I settled on this sub based off the quantity of good reviews. I was hoping that this sub would fulfill my desires. not so much. Bass was non existent in my vehicle and the Kicker made it sound more like a Bose or similar upgraded system. I have a hatchback and space was a consideration when choosing. One thing I discovered was that many of these powered subs have quick detach inputs for quick easy removal when/if space is needed. I called Crutchfield and set up a return and continued my search for something more to my liking. With the help of an advisor I chose to go with the JL Audio ACP110LG-TW1. Now THAT is a powered subwoofer! The JL delivered on all fronts. It is totally adjustable with the offered bass knob to suit your tastes. It is more expensive and in this case money does buy happiness! Save your money and get that. Where the Kicker stops at 10 the JL goes to 100! The JL is easily and quickly removed also when needed. And you know/feel there is a sub in the vehicle when you want it. I can't say that for the Kicker. While the Kicker is fine, it just didn't get me to where I wanted to be. The JL over delivered. Better to have too much than not enough. Now I can JAM!! There really is no comparison between the Kicker and the JL. The JL is worth the $$ while I feel the Kicker is not. I use reviews to help me with my purchase decisions so I hope this helps. I believe the Kicker could sound different for you depending on your vehicle and/or factory radio setup. Good luck
Pros: Everything you need to install is in the box at a low price. As compact as they come Easy and quick removal if you need the extra space. Just unplug it. Crutchfield technical advisors are a huge pro. Take advantage of their knowledge to help you get the job done easier. Call before you start and ask what wires are what and where to find them. With their help this install was as easy as it gets.
Cons: Bass was not exceptional in my vehicle. Underwhelmed Sound quality lacks compared to more expensive units.

This subwoofer packs great sound given it's overall size. It really rounded out the factory sound system in my F-150 nicely. Like others have said, don't expect it to be something it's not. It's not a big sub in a large volume box that's going to rattle your car apart. For the price, you could probably piece together something that could get louder than this sub if that's what you want. However, the size of this sub was the selling point for me. I was able to install it behind the rear seat easily and it takes up no space in the truck.
Pros: Sound given its size Small footprint easy to find a place for it Removes added complexity of custom boxes and external amps
Cons: Probably Wont outperform a properly set up amp/box/sub combination.

Just what I needed.
Kevin from Albany, GA on 10/19/2021
I thought about what to buy and which direction to for a while. Considered going with a local shop they were pushing 2- 10" subs and an amp. Boxes were hard to get so while waiting I kept exploring what was out there. Read way to much on the internet and ended up here. This is the perfect choice glad I made it. Self installed in less than two hours. I was not looking to break windows and tick off neighbors, just wanted to fill in what I thought was missing. Mission accomplished and could not be more pleased. Ace made it super easy and now I am very happy with my factory non Sony/B&O in my F150. Highly recommend this product.
Pros: Pretty much everything came with it. May need just a little extra wire but easy to just spice some in.
Cons: So far nothing.

I thought about this purchase for well over a year. I read mixed reviews about how it sounded in a full size truck and how complicated it was to install in a 2018 F150 with Sync 3. It was a breeze to install and it sounds great. I am not looking to rattle mirrors on the car beside me. I just want to add umph to my stock receiver. This does the trick. The remote control knob lets me adjust the bass for the different types of music I listen to. If you are on the fence about this thing, go ahead and get it. It fit behind me rear seat and I was able to install it with the provided instructions.
Pros: Easy to install. Filled out my stock system.

So far so good. I installed this little guy in the back storage tray of my '16 Tacoma. There aren't many options for sub enclosures that fit in this tight space so I opted to go for this small powered unit. Install was a breeze, just run power to the battery, ground, remote and RCA/speaker wires and you're all set. The remote is a nice touch and helps to dial in the bass for different types of music, podcasts or whatever. I have this unit paired with Kicker 6x9s in the doors, tweeters in the dash and 6.5s in the rear doors and a 4-channel Kicker amp and all together the system sounds great for a middle aged guy that's not looking to rattle the neighborhood but was underwhelmed with the factory audio.
Pros: Size - fits in small storage area behind the seats in a 3rd gen Tacoma Wiring harness is included Takes speaker level inputs or adapt them to RCA Nicely rounds out the low end of a small car or truck's audio system
Cons: Its not going to blow the doors off your car.

This sub was what I was missing from my audio system. it has the right RMS, size and looks for my ride. it's not the kind of sub that gets heard loud on the streets. but, it is the kind that thumbs out enjoyable smooth bass inside the confinement of one's vehicle. you just put it under most seats and forget about it, if you could. :) in my case, i have a fold-able back seat so that the rear space can be used for camping in the Element. so i end up fixing it to the underside of the seat. First off let me start with Crutchfield Tech support and customer support is top notch. I've never had a better compony to work with ever. Hands down amazing people. But the Kicker Hideaway so be referred to as the Kicker Throwaway. I have had to replace this 3 times. I'm so glad i bought the extra warranty even though i think it has been covered under the product warranty. Each time i have walk through the issues with tech support and ended up being that the subwoofer failed. It is just trash. I have kept the gain about 75% each time and still gives out. I have had to remove my drivers seat 3 times in my Ram. Save yourself the hassle if you are getting this for your truck as a space saver and put something under the back seat or but top quality door speakers. This is not it.
Pros: Cost, Size
Cons: Fails, poor lows, not worth your time

READ THE DESCRIPTION THOROUGHLY
Larry A. from Williston, SC on 7/29/2021
This works perfectly. The bass response is clear and concise. The provided wiring harness was enough to complete the install. It fit under the front passenger seat of my 2006 Nissan Titan with room to spare. And it fills a void in the sound of my system with the remote gain at less than half. I don't know why anyone would complain about it. The description describes it exactly how it is. Read the description thoroughly. It's not for those people who annoy everyone else on the road with offensive, excessive bass. If that's what you're after, buy something else.

OK at best.. Meh
Crutchfield customer from Clifton, AZ on 6/21/2021
2008 Toyota 4Runner
It's ok. If you've had any kind of system before or know anything about stereos, it sounds pretty terrible most of the time. If you get the right song (old school 90's rap, Tupac) without the bass notes being not too high or too low it sounds ok. Puts out much less bass then anticipated. Seems like a 10" is way too big for this airspace and the little sub just STRUGGLES! Sounds like CRAP in any real low bass notes and just distorts. It is nice in that it comes with a wiring harness and enough wiring to complete the install, MINUS a short remote turn on lead which you'll have to extend and use your own wiring, unless you use the high pass as a turn on in battery mode. Overall Im not happy and wish I would have put this money towards a real sub as this things is nearing $400 and NOT cheap. Not worth the money.
Pros: Small, compact, full wiring included
Cons: Sounds terrible most of the time

Made All The Difference
Crutchfield customer from West Jordan, UT on 4/17/2021
2018 Ford F-150 Lariat
Installed this in my 2018 F-150, taping into existing original speaker lines. My truck has the non-premium (B&O) sound system utilizing SYNC 3 head unit- 7 speakers, no sub. I first replaced all the factory speakers within the doors and dash with compatible Kicker speakers, and while after doing that I thought I had a "cleaner" sound, I still lacked any bass. That's when I decided I needed a sub, and the Kicker 46HS10 seemed to offer the best bang for the buck and simplicity of install. The install went relatively smooth, but in complete honest disclosure took me far longer than I had expected. I found it a challenge to get it mounted solidly behind the back seat while allowing the seat to properly fold up and down. There is not much room there, very little margin for error. I also tapped into the front door speaker lines, as reportedly they carry the strongest bass signals from the factory head unit. This too proved to be difficult, as I did it at wiring harness connection points in the front side panels just in front of each door which was very difficult. In hind sight, I should have done it at the back of the head unit. After playing around with the gain and frequency cut off controls to get it all tuned in, I am very happy with this. It has added tons of body and fullness to the system. It is not going to rattle the neighboring car but is exactly what I wanted- a fullness in sound with a little punch in the bass that can be felt.

Good performance with a very small footprint
Rene from Spanish Fort, AL on 4/11/2021
I installed this subwoofer in a Toyota MR2 Spyder on the floor of the rear storage compartment. This vehicle has very limited room, and I used it to replace a smaller compact subwoofer that simply wasn't up to snuff. The HS10 delivers true low bass performance in a very compact package. Understand that any compact subwoofer is a compromise relative to a larger subwoofer (simple physics). The quick connect feature is great for me, as I wanted the ability to quickly remove the speaker from the storage compartment when additional storage is needed or when competing in track events. I simply secure the subwoofer in the vehicle using the nylon tie-down straps provided in the storage compartment, so can remove the subwoofer in seconds by loosening the straps and removing just one electrical connection. However, understand that the quick connect does require direct wiring (and additional connectors) is using the preamp out with your existing head unit (there are NO RCA inputs on this unit), and also limits the gauge of the power and ground wires to that provided. If you're not going to be regularly removing your compact subwoofer (and I suspect most people permanently mount their subwoofer), you may want to consider another model.
Pros: Compact size, true low bass, smooth response, one plug connection if you need the flexibility to remove the subwoofer regularly.
Cons: Quick connect requires additional wiring connections when installing and an additional adapter (not included) when using line-level inputs. If you do not plan on removing the subwoofer regularly, this feature does not add any value. NOT magnetically shielded.

More work than it needed to be
Crutchfield customer from Lafayette, CA on 4/5/2021
2006 Honda CRV EX
Nice build quality of the unit. Sounds pretty good for being small---buy can't compete with any decent big sub so set your expectations. Still didn't fit under my seats but that's ok. The wiring harness sucks. The leads were way too short, forcing you to do a lot more splicing than if they gave you enough length. The remote turn on wire was only about 1 foot long..... seriously? That plus the lack of included RCAs is like kicker discourages you from using a quality aftermarket head unit and expects you to only use stock. I had bought one of the first kicker subs years ago and was very happy with it, but it got stolen. I expected better at this price point, I won't buy kicker anymore.
Pros: Decent sound for the size
Cons: Very insufficient wiring harness, short wires making extra work for you (Only 1 foot long remote turn on wire!). No included RCA for aftermarket head units.

Good amount of clean bass from this tiny sub. I did not have high expectations after installing a similar unit. This one blew the J** away! I put this in my wife's Highlander. She was not willing to give up trunk space as we often use the third row seats. I was planning on building a custom fiberglass box, but no need to after finding this sub. It doesn't hit like a 10" sub is a custom box, but it's plenty for the wife's daily drive. If you want "Big Bass" go with a custom sub box. I paired this with the Kicker Key 200.4 amp running Infinity 6x9's and 6.5's in the doors. All running from the factory head unit. I pulled the speaker level signal for the sub from the Key amp and not the factory HU so that the signal would run through the DSP restoring the low frequencies prior to hitting the sub. Excellent combination and works great for this application. Big shout out to Gus with Crutchfield for turning me onto this product! I told him what I was trying to accomplish and he hit the nail on the head with this package. Great service from a best in class seller!
Pros: Size - fits under the passages seat Sound - decent output for the size.

Perfect if you don't have space!
Crutchfield customer from Sisters, OR on 3/20/2021
This is an amazing little unit. Hits more than I expected based on the size...perfect for my F150 Supercrew. I'm not saying it's equal to a custom box with tons of boom, but for what it is - a super compact all-in-one solution, it's way better than I ever thought it would. Easy to hook up, great controls, and you can feel the quality when you pick it up...solid. Highly recommended.
Pros: Solid build quality, 10" provides lots of depth, clean bass that fills the car, remote output knob, super compact design
Cons: Don't expect it to match dual subs in a ported box...it's not that, but pretty dang close in a fraction of the space

Just what I was looking for!!
Frank from Virginia Beach, VA on 3/10/2021
I installed this speaker in a 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCrew. Fits really nice behind the rear passenger seats. I decided to tap into the front speakers for my install. Ground was attached to the rear seat latch. Power wire was ran to the battery. All in all, this thing rocks!! Of coarse it's not going to shake the house, but it did add the bass my stock stereo system was lacking. This speaker is a complement to your system. Not a stand alone win bass competition package. It does shake my rear view mirror though. Bass boost knob is a plus!! It has been almost a month and I am happy with my purchase so far. Was fairly easy to install also. ????????
Pros: Compact and very easy to install. Can fit in many locations. All the bass you need to compliment the stock system. Bass boost knob let's you adjust for different music.
Cons: None that I can think of. Just don't buy this if you want the bass that you got out of a custom ported box with 3 JL 12's you had in your hatch back when you were in your 20's. Not sure if it's a Con, but know I want to replace the stock speakers in the doors. ??

Not a bad unit if you don't have the space. It sounds okay but just didn't have the punch I was looking for. It was disappointing that the unit doesn't have RCA inputs. Such a huge oversight in my opinion. Really not worth the money in my opinion. I think I am better off with a truck box style.
Pros: Small. It fit under the seat great.
Cons: Only add supplemental bass. Not a replacement for a true subwoofer.

This sub rocks...period. And it is built in a solid encasing. I am giving it only four stars because Kicker states in the installation manual that you can terminate the audio cables with RCA plugs (which they'll happily sell you) so that you plug directly into low level output of the head unit. I will tell you that this method doesn't not work. Other installers on the big Tube can concur. I went nuts trying to figure out why I wasn't getting any sound out of the sub when everything was wired correctly. So I decided to eliminate the RCA plugs and tapped directly into the rear speaker connections...Voila. Now that I know what the real deal is with the connection, I would definitely buy this unit again. In fact I am planning to for my 2016 Tacoma.
Pros: Well built in a great form factor. All of the cables are long enough to go from LA to NY. I am exaggerating for effect; but I am sure you get the point. Sounds really good.
Cons: Misguiding manual regarding connecting the speaker cables.

I didn't want big overpowering booming bass that gets muddy at low volume. This unit puts out tight clean bass. I'm very happy with it. I had some trouble but it was with my stereo not the woofer. Good sound, space saver
Corey from COVINGTON, GA on 1/30/2021
Huge space saver. Great to add some low end to a stock system. Not going to rattle windows but does provide more than enough low end to balance out the treble from stock.
Pros: Size
Cons: Included wiring- because it's pinned in a connector, have to run wiring from sub out to tie in locations instead of running from outlying devices into the sub. Just backwards from the way I typically wire anything.

Good amount of bass that doubles as seat massager
Crutchfield customer from Florida on 1/24/2021
Right amount of bass if you want bass inside your car without sacrificing any trunk space. Perfect fit under front seat of a Mazda 6 (able to slide seat all the way back and lower all the way down with manual controls). It vibrates the front passenger seat enough to double as a massager. I did end up replacing the included 14 awg power and ground wires with some 6 guage I had laying around, as the 14 awg seemed a little anemic for the run. The auto-on feature works great. It was also nice not having to get an LOC, since direct connection to speaker output is all that was needed.
Pros: - No LOC needed, great for factory head unit. - Auto-on sensing works great, without need of the switched ON, though includes switch blue wire if your setup needs it. - Great fit under seat - Great bass output that you can feel in both seats
Cons: Power cables included in harness seem a little small at 14 AWG.

Very easy install in a new jeep JL. Sound is what was expected not ground shaking but for sure added low end punch to all music. It's in my sons 2 door jeep and he was very pleased. Hides great under the passenger seat so when doors are off it's tucked out of sight. Plenty of wire length included so no issues or added things needed. For the under seat install it was very easy to pull seat perform install. I do recommend that as a keep is pretty tight to work in.

Great bass inside the car
Crutchfield customer from Dublin, CA on 1/22/2021
I replaced an Alpine PSE-S8 with this one. This blows away the Alpine unit in terms of hitting the lower frequencies. Like others have said, you won't project bass out of the car like you will with a proper full subwoofer box, but you will get the low frequencies your stock speakers cannot produce.
Pros: Small form factor, integrated amp, and great bass for inside the car.

Love this Sub!
Jim M from LEXINGTON, SC on 12/30/2020
Purchased this for my Tacoma double cab and was able to mount this behind the drivers side rear seat storage in the verticle posistion. Wow what a difference this makes and love the sub. I've replaced all my other speakers with the kicker DS line and have those all running thru the kicker key 200.4 and adding this HS10 for the base was EXACTLY what i was after. It may be a shallow mount sub enclosure but after dialing in the subs crossover and boost to my listening prefrences this sub really has a solid punch and easily adds the lows to your acoustics. For my pickup anyway I couldnt be happier.

Perfect, if your expectations are in check.
Hokie from Bracey on 12/21/2020
My friend upgraded and gave me this. He only had it for a few months but wanted skull pounding bass. Thus, he upgraded. FOR IT'S CLASS, IT'S GREAT! It's class? Small, slim, under seat style powered sub. I have owned or installed a few of these types of subs: Alpine, NVX, and JBL. Of all of these, the Kicker is the best. It has a 10' woofer (most have 8" or smaller), 180 watts rms (most have 75-100), and hits lower in the frequency (most give out at @40 hz). As far as under seat subs, I think it's absolutely the best. However, under seat subs are a compromise. You gain the convenience of a sub you can mount anywhere but lose the sound quality of separate components. Does it compare to my 10" Kicker L5 powered by a 500 watt Rockford amp? No, not even close. These under seat subs have a slim subwoofer in a small enclosure and more than 100 watts is rare. This sub does go down to 25 hz...but it's not as loud as separate components. Typically, the larger the enclosure, the lower the frequency response. A small enclosure like this one may hit into the 20's (hz) but probably won't be strong in that low bass frequency. That's what we have here. A great sub that outperforms other similar under seat subs but isn't as good as separates. It can get more than loud enough for me but probably won't vibrate your car...it just too small for car rattling bass. I saw some negative reviews where expectations were simply out of line. This is a great product, for what it is.
Pros: *More wattage, bigger woofer, lower frequency response, than other under seat subs. *Bass knob is convenient. *Small enough to mount in so many places. *Sturdy, tough enclosure.
Cons: *As expected, it can't outperform or match separate components. I knew this going in but some may not know. Bass hits low but the >20 hz frequencies aren't very strong. Still better than competition. *Small form means sacrificing performance when compared to a big box sub. But frankly, it's amazing for it's size.

I had to write a review. Do not buy this. I installed in a 2016 f150 crewcab and the factory 8" from sony over powered this Kicker 10". I can not believe Kicker put their name on this. I was looking for something to give a little more bass as I upgrade my system to JL C5 in the front and C2 in the rear. The 8" factory was not enough to compliment. I was definitely wrong to think this Kicker would do the trick. Worst thing I have ever purchased by Kicker
Pros: Its small
Cons: Factory sub is better. Had gain, bass boost 100% up and barely heard

Not what you might expect
Crutchfield customer from La Crescenta, CA on 11/15/2020
10" subs can provide a nice crisp bass response. Don't expect this under seat 10" to provide what a 10" in a box could. I did and i am not happy with the outcome. It's not very loud even when the gain is turned up all the way. It's also not very crisp. I even thought maybe the bass remote was not working so i checked it without it and it was not any louder. I expected more from kicker. But underneath the seat you are limited in space/size so they made it what they could. I just hoped it would have been more. But i am also limited in space so i had to go with underneath the seat. I have been buying kicker speakers and amps since 1995. I still got my original 12" comps that still hit hard.
Pros: Compact
Cons: Not very loud. Not crisp. Not what you might expect. Probably if you bought a 10" and built a bass box with the same watts you would get much more response from it. This under the seat doesn't have enough space for the 10" to make it sound good.

Solid Bass with Easy Install
Crutchfield customer from Stafford, VA on 11/5/2020
While I was concerned about the hideaway size and it's impact on bass levels/volumes, this bass package was a solid choice. It requires some fine tuning to your preferences, but the installation is really easy, the bass is good, and the size is perfect for a truck application. I hear some distortion when the bass gets punchy, but it still adds a solid level of bass to any vehicle with limited space.
Pros: Easy install, good bass, small size for the sound.
Cons: Distorted at punchy bass riffs. Volume levels are sapped a little when spliced into existing speaker lines.

Great solution.
Aaron from Darwin NT, Australia. on 11/4/2020
Ive had mine installed now for about three weeks, under the passenger seat of my 08 Ford Territory. Definitely happy with how easy it is to fit, fasten and connect. Its a very simple process. Having added some Type R Splits and coax's to the factory system, this was the perfect match to complete a solid low cost mid level upgrade. Its really does bump, but not quite the same as a 10" ported full size box. Its about 90% as good, and about that much more compact! I was going to give this product four stars because of the price, but then I havent had to buy an amp, rca's, 6g wires and fuse blocks etc...and then theres the fact that Ive lost ZERO cargo space. Its an easy five stars and if you are thinking about it you should just do it.
Pros: Size Ease of install No need to buy extras
Cons: Cost. Sort of. Is not 100% like a large enclosed ported sub.

Great sub...great support!
Crutchfield customer from Warriors Mark, PA on 11/3/2020
2020 Hyundai Santa Fe
Great sounding subwoofer at a reasonable price...but I expected that. What made the difference was the Crutchfield technical support that greatly simplified the installation. I chose to install it under the driver's seat in my '20 Santa Fe, one of only a few places where it could fit...and it's tight at that. But the "teeth rattling" bass it gives there makes that location the only one that...well..."kicks a$$"! The Crutchfield tech sent me some terse audio pin-out information for my car but that was enough to identify the 4 sub. wires at the Harman amp under the passenger seat that I needed to tap to get the source signals for the Kicker...and that made the connection much simpler than trying to get those signals at the factory sub. I mounted the Bass Level control where shown...almost looks like it was factory! I still need to dial it in a bit...but that's part of the fun. Crutchfield rocks...! (BTW...I'm 68 years young...!)
Pros: Great sound for the price.
Cons: None detected yet.

2020 Ford F-150 XLT
Overall, its a great setup if you need the room. I didnt want to lose the underseat space in my 2020 F150, as my last 2 trucks had large boxes that used most or all of the underseat storage. I measured this thing out and it fits behind the rear seat with room to spare. Sounds way better that the stock upgrade options from ford in the premium vehicles(B&O or Sony), and the cost is half of what the factory kicker VSS system upgrade costs. If you want something to fill in the lows of a stock audio system, this is great.. but if you want heavy bass that hits you in the chest, buy something else. I gave 4 out of 5 stars because the wiring harness cables should be longer(had to extend to complete part of the install) and also I thought the install manual was lacking good setup directions. This is supposed to be a true easy install for "do it yourselfers" so they should really explain the amp tuning better. I found the Hideaway 8" install manual online and it was more detailed than the HS10". Overall though, great upgrade option.
Pros: Easy to find room, easy setup with included wiring harness and amp knob.
Cons: Poor instructions in manual and wiring harness leads should be longer.
