About the Kicker 48CWRT122

Big sound from a small sub

If you're looking for bass for a tight space, Kicker designed their CompRT subs with compact cars, pickup trucks, and ATVs in mind. The low-profile 48CWRT122 12” subwoofer performs just like a full-size sub, but without killing all your cargo space. This high-performance CompRT sub stands less than 4" tall, so your installation options are wide open. Kicker has redesigned the forced-air cooling system, so this sub will run cooler when you drive it hard (and you know you will).

Made to bring the boom

The 48CWRT122 comes equipped with a rigid injection-molded polypropylene cone that won't flex and cause distortion while you're cranking the bass. Its rubber surround will last through years of heavy use, combining with a special-design back and top plate to give you more excursion (which equals more bass) than other skinny subs.

Made to fit many systems

This sub handles up to 500 watts RMS so make sure you've got a solid amp to power it. You can wire the dual voice coils for either 1- or 4-ohm total impedance, giving you more wiring options when setting up your system. This versatile sub sounds great in sealed or ported enclosures.

Product Research

Features

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 2Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.

Shallow-Mount: Kicker's CompRT series is designed to minimize depth, giving you subwoofer options where standard enclosures don't fit.

All-Weather: Although not marine certified, Kicker describes the CompRT series as weatherproof.

Cooling: Kicker engineers developed a Forced Air Cooling system, using the motor structure to pull air across the voice coils, helping the sub run up to 20% cooler than the previous model.

Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Kicker recommends sealed enclosures from 0.55 ft³ to 2.0 ft³.

Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from a given amount of power. Kicker recommends the following ported enclosures:

  • Minimum Enclosure Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 12½" x 2½" x 20" slot port
  • Maximum Enclosure Volume: 2.25 ft³ with a 12½" x 3" x 20½" slot port

Q
I want 2 of these so what kind of amp should I get?

Ive got an 1800w monoblock and 2 of these. Ran the vc in series, and then the subs in parallel. Total output is around 575w per sub at 2ohm. Shallow enclosure under the rear seat of a truck. They get obscenely loud and will rattle the entire truck. And that's even with the bass turned down on the head unit.
