Kicker technology at work

This Comp sub features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone with 360-degree back bracing for hard-hitting lows without distortion. The ribbed foam surround promotes long excursion and keeps the cone on target, while double stitching ensures your investment won't come apart at the seams. A tough steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 90 and 185 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

I love these subs so much I now have three. Because while messing around with my system I stuck a a screwdriver through the outer edge of sub near one of the mounting holes. And, while the hole was small didn't change the performance of the sub, (that I could tell) I was so discusseded with what I had done, I stopped what I was doing an ordered a new one. I just couldn't stand to see that little hole in a sub I love so much.

Pros: They are just awesome. Can't find any sub better for the money. (I think)

Cons: I don't have 4 of them.

This thing sounds great! I listen to a variety of music and it adds that low end punch that all Kicker subs are known for. Would definitely recommend and purchase again!

I installed 1 of this speakers in my 4cyl gmc Sonoma and built a 3/4 thick mdf ported enclosure with fiber glass on corners, screws, finish nails and a pro grade wood glue I spent 3 days of hard labor to make a really high end cabinet for this speaker... well I didn't expect the best sub woofer sound for the bucks but this speaker sounds really nice/cool, the bass is solid, I'm using bridged a low quality amp (XA2125 Jensen 500 Watt) (this amp is short to this sub woofers), and the amp is short on power I'll add a Rockford farad because my dash light are blink, for me this combination is enough because I spend the money to listen high quality music for a budget inside my truck not for my neighbors or for competition purposes I'm impressed and I'll add 1 of those speakers to my other truck with a band pass enclosure design happy with my kicker sub woofers =)))

Pros: Solid Bass!!! a lot of power, best pro entry level Sub woofer

Features

Speaker Terminals: The spring-loaded, nickel-plated terminals provide solid connections for speaker wire up to 10-gauge. Single banana plugs and pin connectors will also fit.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation.

Sealed Enclosure Applications: Kicker recommends sealed enclosure volumes from 1 ft³ to 2.4 ft³. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable for all types of music.

Ported Enclosure Applications: Kicker recommends ported enclosure volumes from 1.25 ft³ to 1.75 ft³. Slot port dimensions are given in the manual for the minimum enclosure volume (10-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 14-1/2") and the maximum enclosure volume (10-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 13-1/4"). Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed, so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output.

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
Can I use this sub as a free air sub?
[ James  May 15, 2017 ]

A
Yes, that is what I was told.
[ Ed  May 16, 2017 ]
A
You can? In the spec. sheet that comes with the 43c104 sub it gives all the parameters for sealed and free air use. But, in my experience, sealed air is the best way to enclose this sub, all subs really! I always try to find a happy medium between too much internal box space and too little. Enjoy.
