Kicker bass – a powerful tradition

Kicker technology at work

This Comp sub features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone with 360-degree back bracing for hard-hitting lows without distortion. The ribbed foam surround promotes long excursion and keeps the cone on target, while double stitching ensures your investment won't come apart at the seams. A tough steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 120 and 225 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Paired with the right amp and in the right box these babys will disturb the neighbors and the neighbors neighbors. I put 2 in a custom box i built for my sons pickup with a cheap Boss 4 channel 1000 watt amp and i think we are ready for competition Lol. My reaction was holy smokes. The kid is tripping. We love em.

Great for low power applications

Timothy from Longview, WA on 11/16/2016

If you put this in the proper sized sealed box it produces all the clean bass you will ever need. I'm running it off my Alpine mrv-f300 bridged rear channels and it sounds exactly the same as my 1991 Kicker comp 12. I've run Alpine type R, Pioneer, Infinity, MTX, and more, the others were louder but took substantially more power, and this sub sounds equally good, just not as loud due to power restraints. If you are doing a low power system like me, this is the way to go

Pros: Sounds great in large sealed boxes and run low power

Cons: None

What you'd expect from a low price sub

Ty R. from Tuscaloosa, AL on 7/26/2016

I must first state that the sub was sons to me by a friend who had owned it for a year and never put it in a box and used it, I bought it to play with and see how they compared to my kicker comp R 12s. I was not impressed, the suspension is very loose, the magnet has a large rubber cover, when removed the magnet is the size of a door speaker magnet but a little thicker. When I hooked it up, I put it to my kicker 300watt 4 channel, and bridged it to 150 watts, the sub did have bass but it rattled and distorted, the cone made more noise than the low frequency it was supposed to reproduce. Personally I would try to get a more high quality kicker sub, if possible.

Pros: Um.... Cheap? It will cost less to power it, the rms is very low, Has the kicker name on it? Not many pros

Cons: Lots of distortion and cone rattle, low excursion and low power handling not a very attractive cone design, it's single voice coil, I mean come on we aren't cavemen anymore lol, single voice coils are kinda dated and obsolete

Features

Speaker Terminals: The spring-loaded, nickel-plated terminals provide solid connections for speaker wire up to 10-gauge. Single banana plugs and pin connectors will also fit.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation.

Sealed Enclosure Applications: Kicker recommends sealed enclosure volumes from 1.25 ft³ to 3.5 ft³. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable for all types of music.

Ported Enclosure Applications: Kicker recommends ported enclosure volumes from 1.75 ft³ to 2.25 ft³. Slot port dimensions are given in the manual for the minimum enclosure volume (12-1/2" x 2" x 16") and the maximum enclosure volume (12-1/2" x 2" x 16-3/8"). Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed, so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output.

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

We've got history with kicker. I've got one of these 43C124 in my honda civic with a bridged 1000 watt 4 channel amp. It thumps. I put 2 43C124s in my sons truck with the exact same amp. You can hear him coming a good minute before you see him. With the addition of this second sub, you'll hear me coming a minute before you see me. The only difference is I'll be listening to good hard metal with lightning shooting out the windows, not that dub step beat crap. Lol Kicker rocks period. [ Jeffrey  Dec 21, 2018 ]
Had kicker products long time ago and really enjoyed them [ james  Dec 14, 2017 ]
