Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got these for my wife's Tahoe. Installation was extremely easy. The first one I did I took everything off like the photos and directions stated. The 2nd one I only pulled the bottom of the door panel up to the side and slid it in. I did all the hook ups of the speakers on the table before I went out there installed. With the supplied harnesses it was literally clip in and go.

Pros: Ease if install

Cons: None so far, the bottom end of a spectrum is not as good as the mids and highs so I'll be adding a sub to balance things out simply because for my taste I like a little more bass

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed these in the front door of my 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 quad cab equipped with a Kenwood DDX375BT. Fit well except I had to re-drill the mounting holes in the speaker frame to align with the factory spacers/mounting holes. Bass is much tighter and highs are clearer. Was hoping for more bass, perhaps an amp would help.

Pros:

Cons:

Great Sound at Good Price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these Kicker 6X9 speakers to replace the factory speakers on my Toyota Tacoma. The sound improved but it wasn't until I installed a Kicker PXA300.4 amplifier that these speakers really came to life. These are very reasonably priced and will sound outstanding when paired with an amplifier if your factory head unit doesn't put out alot of power. Received the wiring harness and speaker mount adapter for free which was an added plus.

Cons:

Excellent Bang for the Buck

Jonathan from Georgetown, TX on 12/17/2018

2016 Toyota Tacoma
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great upgrade. These speakers have a lot more clarity and presence. I was expecting a bit more bass, however I am running through a stock head unit with no amplifier so that my be a user error, or the small door cavity or all of the above, but the bass does punch better than stock speaker for sure, bass still better than stock also. The biggest factor is the clarity and tone is great. Crutchfield gave me everything I needed for a relatively easy install, getting the door panels off was the hardest part. All at a great price and order arrived in two - three days. I will be coming back when I decide to upgrade my rear door speakers.

Pros: Better Clarity and Tone with a Minor Bass upgrade

Cons: Should have upgraded sooner. Should have gotten the rear speakers at the same time. Would suggest front and rear doors at the same time. I will be getting the rear done soon.

Nice speakers

Nelson from Miami, FL on 12/12/2018

2007 Toyota Corolla
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in the rear deck of a 2007 Corolla with a Sony WX-920BT and Kicker 43CSC674 in the front doors. Without an external amplifier, they sound great and have decent bass response. The system was a huge upgrade from the factory setup. I used XTC baffles (with the backs cut out) to help seal the speakers against the rear deck as the factory speakers have a slightly oddly shaped hole for the 6x9's.

Pros: Good sound quality and bass response.

Cons:

Great bang for your buck

Joshua from Davenport, FL on 12/10/2018

2017 Ram 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speakers hooked up super easy and sound great for just a plug and play. They didnt quite fit flush with my front doors as the magnet was hitting the window guide but I was able to get it in there secure enough to make it work without damaging anything. I can definitely tell there is more in the speakers and they would sound a lot better if I added an amp or aftermarket head unit. But for a plug and play application they suited my needs 100%, sound great, and were super affordable. You dont really hear a difference in the quality of sound until you turn it up a little, which was exactly where I needed it.

Pros: Good sound quality for the price, no extra adapters or amps needed

Cons: Didnt fit in my front door panels like advertised. Magnet was thicker than anticipated.

Loaded these up in my 2016 F-150 SuperCrew and they sound awesome! The bracket sent along didn't quite line up with the speaker but was easy enough to jury-rig it together and I was quite happy how smooth the install was. These speakers are a huge improvement over the stock "premium" sony sound system - they stay clear all the way to being maxed out and have a great sound stage. Would definitely recommend!

Well-Rounded Rear Deck Speaker

Crutchfield customer from Bentonville, AR on 10/30/2018

1998 Toyota Camry CE
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these into the rear deck of my 98 Toyota Camry and they were a far improvement from the factory stereo speakers. Since mine are mounted under a factory grill and are not visible, I will not speak on the aesthetics. They sound great especially for the lower price point, plus, they're Kicker quality. Immediately out of the box I could see that they were well-built and were not fragile. I've exposed them to various types of music from classical instrumental to hip-hop to heavy metal. They have great sounding bass, but lack a little bit on the higher notes/trebles (which is made up for by the other speakers in my vehicle). Honestly, it's not noticeable unless the car is sitting in a quiet parking lot. I do intend on amplifying these speakers, so, I believe an update to this review will be in order. Summary: Affordable, reliable, most definitely enjoyable...If you're flip-flopping between this and another set of speakers that are the same price, you really can't do yourself wrong with these.

Pros: Great bass and middles Good construction They don't cost too much money

Cons: They cost money :)

Upgrade to an Upgrade

Joshua from Austin, TX on 10/8/2018

2005 Dodge Ram 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The previous owner of my 2005 Dodge Ram had upgraded the deck and four speakers from the stock components. Unfortunately by the time I got the truck, the driver side 6x9 was blown and the passenger side wasn't putting out much volume overall (probably under-powered even by the new at the time deck and no amp). I am replacing things in stages and started with these Kicker 6x9s. What a huge difference! Mid and highs are coming in cleanly now, and the lows have a good thump- enough for this 38 year old anyway. And this from just a 17 watt rms Alpine deck from 10 years ago. I am looking to pair these with some 6.5 inch Kickers for the back doors, and a Sony deck with a built in amp to round it all out. The current back 6.5s are hardly even heard over the new front speakers. The Posi-products car speaker wire taps made the install very easy. I recommend those as well. I am looking forward to a brand new, and better upgrade to the upgrade in the next few months! Thanks go to Rocky who made the no pressure recommendations, and stuck with me through the decision making process!

Pros: Great stock upgrade. Great upgrade to a lesser upgrade. Easy upgrade. Clean sound. More thump.

Cons: None other than I had to angle some of the screws into the clips as the holes didn't quite line up exactly.

Installed these speakers in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee front doors and they sound amazing. I already had an aftermarket head unit that had a higher output but the OEM speakers couldn't handle it and would distort at low volume. Installed these and was immediately surprised at how well they performed. Great bass and highs. My music sounds so clear. I would definitely recommend and purchase again if I get another vehicle.

Pros: Bass, Highs, Price

Cons: Only 3 of 4 holes match the OEM screw mounting location. OEM hole too big to use the included mounting hardware. (2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Front Doors)

Perfect plug n play for 3rd Gen Tacoma

Dave from Bluffton, SC on 8/16/2018

2017 Toyota Tacoma
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these Kicker 6x9s and a pair of round 6.5" Kickers from Crutchfield to replace the worthless factory speakers (see pics) in my 2017 Tacoma TRD, along with a pair of Kicker/OEM Subaru tweeters from Amazon. Crutchfield includes the Toyota mounting adaptors and the wiring harness adaptors for FREE, making this a true plug n play upgrade. The speakers sound infinitely better than factory speakers, even without an auxiliary amp. If you have a 3rd Gen Tacoma and you're considering this upgrade, do it. You won't be sorry.

Pros: A massive improvement over the factory speakers for a very reasonable price.

Cons: None

2017 Jeep Renegade
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Put these in the front doors of a 2017 Jeep Renegade (took me about 30 minutes each door). The factory head unit handles them just fine - no amp needed for me in this small space. Stock speakers sounded muddy at the base level with no high end. At about volume 20 (half way), the Kickers start to hurt your teeth. I found that I did not have to remove the factory positioning clips for the stock speakers. If you spend a little time, you can align the screw holes adequately to seek them in (it was snug though). Only broke one door clip on the driver's side - most likely because it was hot outside. Cold would have resulted in much more breakage because they are stubborn when they stick in the door and don't come out in the panel.

Pros: Price point; 3-way; no modification needed to factory location.

Cons: Drown out all the rest of the speakers.

I installed these along with the CS components in my 15 Camry XSE and goodness gracious do they put out some sound. I had Alpine Type R's previously and after one blew, I swapped all Kicker CS after being enticed by the lower frequency response, the price point, and the 6x9 components in the series. They are running off a Zapco ST204DBT and they sure do sound great. If I had to be critical, the tweeter is not as bright as the Alpine Type R, but I do feel as though these are producing a more true to the source sound with their broader frequency range.

Installed these in the front doors of my 2017 Tacoma with the stock head-unit (Entune Premium, non-JBL), along with Kicker43CSC674 in the rear doors. What an improvement! The stock speakers from Toyota are a joke, but these really bring out the best of the Entune HU. These speakers look sharp and appear very well-made. The clarity of the sound has improved greatly; crisp and clean highs, balanced mids, and strong lows that don't distort or become 'muddy' as the volume increases. I listen primarily to hard-driving rock, and these speakers deliver the strong, punchy sound that I was looking for, even from the stock head-unit. I can imagine the sound and performance will only improve with the addition of an amplifier and complimented with a sub. Overall, very happy with these speakers!

These speakers are great, not the bass pounding type 6X9's I was looking for to install in my 2016 GMC Canyon Crewcab. The highs and mids are really clear. In order for me to get more bass out of them I had to install a set of fast rings or some weather stripping. This created a seal with the front of the woofers to the door panels. Thus, creating a seal box using the door's panel.

Pros: Great highs and mids

Cons: Lows where suffering and needed additional materials for a great sounding install.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice. I installed these in a non standard location (custom back shelf on 2013 Chevrolet Spark) and the results are great. The factory enclosures will not accept any more than a 4 inch speaker, which means bass is underwhelming unless you install a sub. My budget didn't allow for the custom wiring and purchase of a sub, so I built a custom shelf out of 1" pine and installed a pair of these in the back. I have a basic receiver that puts out 14 watts RMS (CEA-2006) per channel, and the sound has improved vastly over the original setup. This was an experiment; I wasn't sure how it would come out but I am completely satisfied with the outcome.

Pros: Good price, fine clear sound. Excellent bass. Stout construction.

These are excellent speakers....used them to replace the front door speakers in my 2017 tacoma with stock entune Stereo. Bass is deeper and punchier and mids are much cleaner now. The stock speakers are unbelievably cheap and these kickers are a big upgrade. Highly recommend for the price!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First time trying out Kickers. Have heard good things about them and I must agree. These 6x9's really rock! These went into a '83 Chevy pickup which don't give you many options for mounting, so I made my own speaker cabinets that fit behind the seat. And they sound awesome being pushed by the Sound Ordinance little amp I also got from Crutchfield. Head unit is a Pioneer, and the other pair of speakers in the cabinets are some 6x8 Kenwoods that I had in another vehicle. I'm very impressed with the overall sound. I've been putting stereo's in vehicles since the mid '60's and this one was one of my favorite installs. Old truck is really rockin' going down the road. Thanks Crutchfield for always being there. The service they provide is 2nd to no one.

Pros: Sound awesome! And they look as good as they sound.

Cons: Wish I would've gotten them sooner.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wow, upgraded from some 50rms 6x9s to these kickers. I put 150rms to these speakers and they handle it very well. I'm thinking about using the hpf. I have two options for hpf either at receiver or amp. I'm currently running the 6x9's full range and see lots of cone movement with bass. I don't really need to run these with low freq below 120. They definitely can go low. They can over power the front stage as rear speakers. With their high senitivity they will get loud fast. So, make sure your front stage speakers can get loud at a similar turn of the volume. Could be difficult to match up these in the rear with smaller vehicles. I could see these really filling in large cabin vehicles like SUVs. I used these in as open baffle which also may explain the large cone movement. I'd be interested in seeing these used sealed or even ported. These don't replace a sub but not everyone need a full ystem. these can cover the audio range to better enjoy music at high volume.

Pros: High sensitivity and rms Very loud

Cons: 6x9 over powering sound as rears Needs amplifier

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in the front doors of a 2017 Tacoma double cab with non JBL. Required watching YouTube. Did not come with installation instructions for this vehicle. Mounting bracket had to be drilled for speaker to attach. Wire harness would not attach to speaker and requires a small flat head to bend the clamp so it would slide over the speaker attachment. Check these fit before installing. Took 2 stars for lack of installation instruction and modifications required of provided hardware. Added 2 stars back because the mounting bracket and wire harness where free. Speakers sound great with stock head unit. I would recommend these for your gen3 Tacoma front doors.

Pros: Improved sound over stock front door speakers.

Cons: No installation instructions provided. YouTube helped to remover door panel. Left on your own to figure out mounting bracket. Mounting bracket required drilling. Wire harness would not slid on speaker and required modification.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Purchased these to upgrade the speakers on my new work truck, since the stock ones sound muffled. I did some research and chose the kickers, and then spoke to a Crutchfield Advisor whom made the same suggestion. Once they were installed, I choose to disconnect the factory tweeters on the dash, since the imaging was terrible. So needless to say, these Kickers are doing all the work. I'm pleasantly surprised with how well they sound running off the factory stereo. The bass is decent and the mid-bass is excellent, which is what you would expect from a 6x9. While the highs are clear, I do wish they were a little crisper (they probably would be with a little more power), yet I am happy they are not screaming loud. These are my first set of Kicker's since high school (anyone else remember the Kicker Impulse line?), and will not be my last!

The sound from these is amazing especially considering i am just using the stock head unit. I can turn the volume way up (over 50) with no distortion. I highly recommend Crutchfield as well, they included (free) everything i needed to install these like the adapter brackets, wiring harness

I have these running of the head unit but amped soon. As for now they sound decent. I like a tad more bass from my 6x9 but overall they are nice and bright. Put these in a 05 Ram 2500, along with a new pioneer head unit. Mids and highs sound great, but there is almost no bass. Same with the rear door speakers that were replaced (6.5 inch Kickers). I am probably going to have to add an amplifier, to see if that will push more bass, but really didn't want to have to wire additional accessories. I spoke with a Crutchfield rep, and he said that I would have to add a sub if I wanted bass, "you just aren't going to get bass out of the doors." The factory speakers had more bass than these. Will buy Infinity's or something else next time.

Pros: Mids and highs great

Cons: No Bass. None. Not even some. Like not at all.

Pros: Sound quality, volume level, ease of installation .

Cons: Speaker grills. I don't like any speaker grill that allows someone to poke/touch the speaker. How about some old school grills, that really work ? I ended up using aluminum window screen under the factory grill.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good upgrade to the factory speakers in my 2013 Ram 1500. Factory speakers (non-Alpine system) are only rated for 15W, so they had a hard time handling the aftermarket head unit. I suspect a factory head unit would be a little low on power to take full advantage of these speakers, but the sound quality is significantly better than paper full range speakers they replaced. I used these 6x9's front and rear, ordering two "rear" sets with the knowledge that I would have to add a spacer to get the required mounting clearance for the front doors. I used part of the old speakers to create these spacers and am happy with the result. Outside of the spacers, the included mounting hardware and wiring adapters made the installation a plug and go operation.

I was very impressed with this product! The bass hits hard and the highs and mids are excellent as well. Product was was shipped on time, packaged well, and I even received a handwritten note a week after my purchase which was really cool. With all the free parts included, there's no way I'd get speakers anywhere else. Overall, I would recommend these kickers every day of the week.

Very good speakers. Unfortunately my factory stereo in a 2014 Silverado won't push them as loud as I like so I would suggest installing an amp to them. The universal speaker brackets don't quite line up perfectly, you can get 2 screws in good and 3 in but will take a little elbow grease and not quite in the center of the screw notches. Speakers will definitely handle power of amp

Pros: Quality speakers, can handle power of amp, mids and hi's are great

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are great now I can hear the music the way it was meant to be listened to. 100% improvement over stock very clear and if I turn them up with my 40w deck the rear view and side mirrors are vibrating. In my 09 corolla le. I paired these with the cs line front speakers by kicker I feel like I don't need a sub in the back to reach the sound I was looking for now. Definitely go for the cs line all around cost a few extra bucks but definitely worth it to me.

Pros: Very clean sound can't say enough Perfect upgrade over stock Cs line is priced cheap for the quality

Cons: None

Great 3-Way 6x9's that says it all if you know anything about Speakers .... Deep Bass to Highs .... does all well.... 2015 Dodge Challenger SXT PLUS: Sound Option I ,8.4AN Factory Head Unit,6 Speaker Alpine System... Kicker CS series is some of the best factory upgrade drop+ins I've owned or seen for the price.... FYI ... gasket your speakers with foam tape or 1/16 Cork-Rubber Gasket maker they will rattle if you don't

Pros: 3 Way 6x9 that does it well,Price,Factory drop in for most,RMS power handling & minimal power needed for better than stock sound.

Cons: Needed to wire a 4ohm tweeter in to make 2ohm load.... slight triming.... Does provide more bass/mids than you'll expect..could be pro too

Put these in my daughters 2002 Honda Accord and they sound awesome! They complement the Kicker 6 1/2's I installed a few months ago and the overall sound is just wonderful. The Kicker CS series proves you don't have to spend a ton of money to get a TON of sound. I highly recommend these to anyone looking to build a great sounding system without breaking the bank.

Pros: Great sound and great price. These speakers are LOUD even with modest power.

Cons: Absolutely none.

These were recommended by a Crutchfield advisor. I'm the type that always thinks they need something more... so on my own I would have spent much more on Polk or Infinity speakers. After hearing these, though, I am very pleased and thankful the advisor turned me to something that sounds great for less of my hard earned $$$!

What an excellent upgrade over the stock speakers. These speakers sound about a thousand times better than those old paper cones. I have no external amp, these are run by a Kenwood DPX792BH and they sure kick it out. I find these to have excellent response once I set them up for my style of music. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with these speakers.

Pros: Price, value, sound, loudness and overall performance.

Cons: None

Features

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker CSC-series speakers feature polypropylene woofer cones, resistant to moisture and the temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

Balanced-Dome Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 1/2" PEI (polyetherimide) balanced-dome tweeter. A balanced dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone, with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome sections.

2" Dome Midrange: The 2" dome midranges provide a strong response in the critical midrange band where most vocals are located.

Yes they will, I had these and a smaller set of speakers in the back door of my F150 and they sound really good and if you want to push them a little more and even better sound a small amp will do the job [ Fernando  Jan 17, 2019 ]

These speakers were installed into a 2000 Honda Accord. Not sure sbout a Tacoma. [ WILLIAM  Mar 19, 2018 ]
A few quick things here. 1. New speakers usually have a little bit of break in time - so after a few weeks of playing music they will likely start to sound better. 2. I'm not sure what the factory power is in your vehicle, but it could very well be that these speakers are underpowered by the factory amp - and that may be why they aren't sounding the way you want. 3. If you aren't happy with the sound absolutely give our Tech team a call. The can help troubleshoot and/or set up an exchange if needed [ Jeff  Mar 16, 2018 ]  Staff
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system. [ Kenny  Aug 17, 2017 ]  Staff
It all depends on how you plan on wiring these speakers. I have a CEA Compliant Rockford Fosgate RF600.4D ( 4 Channel 646 RMS watt amp ) running a set of 43CSC6934 and a set of 43CSC654 speakers ( 1 speaker wired into each separate channel at a 4 Ohm load, getting about 125 RMS watts to each 6x9 on the first channel and I have the gain for the second channel turned down so the 6 1/2's are getting about 100 RMS watts to each speaker. If you only plan on wiring 1 set of these to an amp, you need a Class D or AB, CEA Compliant 2 Channel amp that is Rated at 300 x 1 RMS watts, If you are wiring 4 speakers you should look for a CEA Compliant Class D 600 x 1 RMS watt amp ( Class D amps are a little more expensive, but more efficient ). Hope I could help you out with this information! [ Shawn Herrold  Aug 15, 2017 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Kenny  Aug 01, 2017 ]  Staff

They come with the grills shown in the picture, which should work on any aftermarket box as long as the speakers are top mounted. [ RYAN  Jun 16, 2017 ]

These worked great in my jeep with just the in dash unit for power. [ wilfred  Apr 25, 2017 ]
No amp needed, I installed them on my civic and the sound is great. [ Freddy  Apr 24, 2017 ]
I hooked this up to my stock stereo, they sound good, but could use an amp to make the sound even better I think, but I bought these with adding an amp later in mind. [ Kristina  Apr 24, 2017 ]
No you do not need an amp, an amp just would help you push it at its highest power. They sound great without an amp. [ Theodore  Apr 24, 2017 ]
