Dual voice coils for wiring flexibility

The sub's dual 4-ohm voice coils give you more wiring options when setting up your system. The sub's cool-looking black finish highlights the potent low end you'll hear and feel.

Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 300 and 600 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

These sound great and produce some nice sounding lows, and man does this kicker thump. With its heavy duty make up and great sound, this is an all-around amazing product. Well worth the price.

Great Subwoofers!

These subs do not disappoint. I have had 2 of these for about a year now in a 1.2 cubic sealed box with a Kicker ZX300.1 monoblock amp and the BASS is TIGHT & CLEAR. With my amp giving about 150rms power to each sub wired in parallel, I can feel the hard hitting bass rattling my suv. I can just imagine if I were to give each sub the recommended MAX RMS, how much louder these subs will get. My whole system is basically Kicker and I am very happy with these 12's!

Pros: Bass hits hard when you want them too. Plus the push spring connectors and color coding makes it easy to install the speaker wires.

Cons: Cons...I can't think of anything bad here! They have been and still are good to my ears.

Product Research

Features

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation. The boot is removable if needed for tight installations.

Break-in Period: The high-performance suspension system makes the speaker very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately 2 weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Kicker recommends sealed enclosures from 1.6 ft³ to 4.6 ft³.

Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. Kicker recommends ported enclosures in the following range:

  • Minimum Enclosure Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 20" slot port
  • Maximum Enclosure Volume: 2.25 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 3" x 20-1/2" slot port

Customer Q&A

Q
Crutchfield asked: Why did you buy this?
A
Heard good reviews on this [ Antonio  Sep 04, 2019 ]
A
My son had these subs in his previous vehicle, and they sounded incredible, I have Kickers currently in my vehicle, but they are no where near the quality of these subs. [ Scott D.  Dec 04, 2018 ]
A
Kicker has always been outstanding with bass options and budget levels. In this case my son has a small vehicle and he wants to take advantage of about 3 cubic feet in his trunk and 400 WRMS to compliment his sound system. Since he is in Puerto Rico, its easier for me to tell him what to build and prepare the wiring for then just to drop in the Sub and fine tune. Instead of building a multi-sub system and wiring for him and sending it over. System done...Son Happy!! [ JamesTowers  Nov 26, 2018 ]
A
I don't know a whole lot about car audio. Mechanically I am inclined, but when it comes to wires I tend to just shut my brain off. The easily accessible information made my purchase easy on this website. I wish more websites had similar attributes. I've heard Kicker subs in many other vehicles and I am always impressed so, combined with the help of crutchfields website and personal experience I sought this item out. [ Broc  Nov 26, 2017 ]

I've heard good things about them.. [ Melvin  Nov 19, 2017 ]

Need to pair with same sub in box. [ Jason  Nov 07, 2017 ]

Q
What is the best amp to run with just one of these?
[ SoundHound  Sep 05, 2016 ]

A
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.
