Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside
edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect
the magnet during installation. The boot is removable if needed for tight
Break-in Period: The high-performance suspension system
makes the speaker very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately 2 weeks of daily
playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium.
A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response,
and greater low-bass extension.
Shallow-Mount: Kicker's new CVT series is designed to
minimize depth, giving you subwoofer options where standard enclosures don't
fit. The solid-pole design allows the woofer to be mounted directly against the
rear wall of a sealed enclosure. The spring-loaded binding posts are mounted
parallel to the cone surface to minimize depth. Also the steel Clearance Plate
enables you to cut out part of the back of the enclosure to create more room for
the woofer magnet, subtracting the enclosure wall depth from the equation.
Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control
over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all
types of music. Kicker recommends sealed enclosures from 0.8 ft³ to 3.0 ft³.
Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically
provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with
smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. Kicker recommends
ported enclosures in the following range:
- Minimum Enclosure Volume: 1.25 ft³ with
a 10-1/2" x 2" x 20" slot port
- Maximum Enclosure Volume: 1.75 ft³ with
a 10-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 20" slot port
