About the Kicker 44CVX104
Creating great sound
Creating great sound
When you're looking for experience in building great-sounding car speakers, it's tough to beat Kicker. Their CompVX line of subwoofers applies the lessons learned from the original Kicker Comp line that goes back to 1986, giving you the benefit of Kicker's years of expertise in creating great-sounding bass.
Kicker technology at work
Kicker's 44CVX104 10" subwoofer features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone with Kicker's SoloKon™ reinforcement for hard-hitting lows without distortion, while the ribbed Santoprene rubber surround promotes long excursion and helps to keep the cone on target. The sub's cast aluminum basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.
This sub handles up to 600 watts RMS to bring out the punch your music's been missing, and its dual 4-ohm voice coils make it easy to get more power from your mono amplifier. This versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures.
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 450 and 900 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Kicker 44CVX104 reviews
Like another reviewer stated, they can't handle the power. I had this in my truck for about 4 months before the coils burnt. I've used kicker for just over 10 years and always had great luck with the lower to mid grade subs.
Pros: Loud while it last
Cons: Doesn't handle high power very well

I've used kicker subs in several builds of mine and have been pleased with their SPL, and overall quality of tone. In this case I'm disappointed. The plastic slider cone gives the sub good strength under fire, but when I push these subs hard the resonance they give off is horrible. I've loved the solo barics in the late 90s and used more entry level kicker comp in my previous build. Both of them sounded like I expected. So this time around I decided to meet in the middle with these mid grade subs. I was thinking I would get a little better bang for the buck and the durability of kicker. However, these subs can't tske the power I'm giving them. I have to tune down the bass to regain sound quality and my sound stage up front over powers their response. So, basically I'm gonna push these bad boys to their breaking point, just to do it. My next subs won't be kicker. And my next subs won't have a defined cone like the kickers do. So.. long review short. If your budget for subs is at this price point, look to another brand.
Cons: They do not perform well at max rated wattage. At least in a sealed box, that is.

I bought this speaker because I needed a 10in sub that could handle 600w rms. I was blown away by the low frequency response and pure musicality of this subwoofer. Hands down my favorite sub I ever owned.
Pros: Reasonably priced for a high end sub Low frequency response Clear accurate bass High power handling Dual voice coils Parimeter venting for shallow mounting
Cons: None I can think of other than it's a heavy sub but that's to be expected of a high power handling subwoofer.
