About the Kicker 44CWCD124

Product of experience

When it comes to bass, Kicker wrote the book, as they were among the first to create subs and amps for cars. The Kicker CompC line has its roots in the original Kicker Comp subwoofer line that goes back to 1986, giving you the benefit of Kicker's years of experience in the art of bass. The CompC Series 44CWCD124 12" subwoofer features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone for hard-hitting lows without distortion, while the ribbed foam surround with its familiar yellow stitching promotes long excursion and helps to keep the cone on target.

Versatile installation

This sub handles up to 300 watts RMS to bring out the punch your music's been missing. Its dual 4-ohm voice coils make it easy to get maximum power from a mono amplifier, or to wire it into a multi-sub setup. The sub's steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy. This versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 225 and 450 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
Can you wire 2 of these subs in parallel to get a final 2ohm impedance by only using 1 voice coil on each woofer? I have heard different answers and don't know what is true.
[ John  May 31, 2017 ]

A
Technically, yes that would yield a 2 ohm load. However, it is never recommended to only connect one voice coil on a dual voice coil subwoofer. If you have an amp that is only 2 ohm stable, then you should look into getting the the single voice coil version of the subwoofer: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_220SXV300/item.html If you are having a hard time finding an amp that can power 2 of these DVC subwoofers, you should call one of our advisors on 1-800-324-9695 for a personal recommendation on one.
