Kicker technology at work

Kicker's 44CWCD84 8" subwoofer features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone for hard-hitting lows without distortion, while the ribbed foam surround promotes long excursion and helps to keep the cone on target. The sub's steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

Versatile installation

This sub handles up to 200 watts RMS to bring out the punch your music's been missing, and its dual 4-ohm voice coils make it easy to get more power from your mono amplifier. This versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 150 and 300 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Q
I have a Sony DSX-A405BT Digital Media Receiver. Do I need to purchase an amplifier for this sub or can I hook it up directly to the receiver?
[ Logan  May 30, 2018 ]

A
you need an outboard amplifier, i would use a good quality 100W or stronger amp, preferably from a name brand company like Rockford Fosgate,MTX,Alpine or even Sony
[ Charles  May 31, 2018 ]
A
I'm not really qualified to answer this question as I don't know anything about that receiver. Mine works just great on the stock GM radio without an amp although a separate sub amp would most likely make it better. I'm sure the Crutchfield guys could answer that for you.
[ JEFFREY  May 31, 2018 ]
A
I think so. You probably wont have the power to drive the woofer enough to get the full performance of the woofer though.
[ Chuck  May 30, 2018 ]
Q
I want this for a 2004 Toyota Avalon with JBL system and stock subwoofer. I understand this is a 4 ohm and the stock is 2 ohm. Will this work?

A
I'm pretty sure the instructions tell you how to wire it for 2 ohms
[ JEFFREY  Nov 23, 2017 ]
A
No! I purchased this for an Avalon as well, however, this sub is a dual voice coil setup. You need a single.
[ Peter  Nov 23, 2017 ]

What amp do i need?

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your sub I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

A
Yes it is not a free air I put in a gang Yukon factory box but it is to shallow use the factory spacer
[ Briley  Jul 01, 2017 ]
A
Subwoofer needs to be in an enclosure yes. Defeats purpose if it's open.
