About the Kicker 44CWCS84

Product of experience

When it comes to bass, Kicker wrote the book, as they were among the first to create subs and amps for cars. The Kicker CompC line has its roots in the original Kicker Comp subwoofer line that goes back to 1986, giving you the benefit of their decades of experience. The CompC Series 44CWCS84 8" subwoofer features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone for hard-hitting lows without distortion, while the ribbed foam surround with its familiar yellow stitching promotes long excursion and helps to keep the cone on target.

Versatile installation

This sub handles up to 200 watts RMS to bring out the punch your music's been missing, while its 4-ohm impedance makes it compatible with just about every amplifier on the market. The sub's steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy. This versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 150 and 300 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers

Replaced my stock sub in my 1995 Avalon. Glad I went with Kicker rather than another Harman Audio stock sub. It performs exceptionally. First time I used Kicker. Pleased with the build quality as well. Excellent sub for the price.

Fits the 2011-14 mustang door

glen from Toms River, NJ on 8/4/2018

Works well in my 2012 mustang door powered by a Alpine 500w mono amp. Big upgrade over the factory shaker 500 system. I used some waffle style grills for a finished look, Highly recommend mustang owners to do this upgrade but I also changed the 5x7 speakers with Alpines so the sounds very clean.

Pros: free air, great sound , fit my install.

Cons: none

have not had it for long but it does the job. Its hard to say its awesome because in all honesty this is a downgrade, but it was needed as i cant use my old sub in the new car. so fit wise its perfect and it gives enough presence to feel the diference from stock.

Well built, heavy duty, good base in a small package

Cooper from Chicago, IL on 4/29/2018

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

For a tiny little guy, this sucker pounds pretty hard. It is easily enough for me considering my taste in music. I doubt this is enough sub for someone who is looking to wake up the neighbors, but it fills in my base lines perfectly in a stock rear deck location.

Perfect For My Needs

2016 Dodge Challenger

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Perfect fit and added just enough bass to quench my thirst. Not a big bass guy, but recently upgraded all my speakers to the kicker brand and gained too much highs to hide the lack of a sub. Glad I found this sub and added it and mono amp to the system and since there's a hole already for an 8 in the package tray I didn't have to add a box and lose trunk space.

Pros: Fit Finish Kicker Hidden

Cons: Can't see it lol

Great upgrade for the wife's 2005 Toyota Solara. It required new screw holes in the box due to the odd size of the factory sub but she loves the way it sounds. Ill probably end up getting one or two for my pickup

4 out of 5 simply due to Crutchfield's error that this fits in the factory box for a 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. That is a 6" opening, NOT an 8" opening.

This is a replacement for a speaker that's been in the back of my '96 Bronco since shortly after I bought the Bronco new in June of '96. It recently began to have a little "rattle" in the sound, so I'll replace it with a like item because 22 years of great sound ain't a bad lifetime. I've bought other car stereo equipment from Crutchfield, and have always been totally satisfied with the equipment and the advice given by their service techs. [ Dennis  Jul 21, 2018 ]

I used no.8 wood screws about 1" long to attach the speaker to my sub box.

If you are doing a through bolt and not screws a 10-32 with backing washers would work well.

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

I got the JBL gtx500 to run these subs and it is plenty enough power. I also have ran the subs off of the Alpine mrp-450, also plenty enough power for these subs. The alpine amp has a little more eq control and I run the alpine on a 10inch sub in my Subaru. I run the Kickers and JBL in my Jeep which has more eq controls on the head unit.
[ Brad  Nov 01, 2017 ]
Q
does this bolt right right in place of the stock sub?
[ Chris  Jul 06, 2017 ]

A
If you are putting it in an '03 Avalon like I did, no, it does not. Any other application would have to be answered by someone that installed it in whatever you are installing yours. Hope this helps.
[ Todd  Jul 06, 2017 ]
A
I used it in a 2002 Ford Focus SVT with the factory sub box. It almost bolted right in place. I had to make a solid gasket to space it out from the mounting frame about 1/8" - 3/16" so that it did not push to hard on the back side of the enclosure. it was easy, as there is a template included in the box. I used cork gasket blank from the auto parts store.
[ eddieF  Jul 06, 2017 ]
A
No. They are in a different arrangement with more holes
[ Jameel  Jul 06, 2017 ]
A
It did not for me but I knew that when I ordered. After receiving and thinking about it and discovering a local speaker repair center I thought had gone out of business, I returned the unit and have the original factory speaker re-coned. For me that was the best decision as I ended up with original fit, no extra drilling, original performance and matched to the factory system. I did look at the speaker when it was received and it is a nice looking, well manufactured unit. My installation was a 2000 Avalon.
[ PAUL A  Jul 06, 2017 ]
Q
I'm replacing the factory subwoofer in my 2000 Suburban. Will my radio (JVC KW-820BT} need a separate amp to drive this speaker? Thanks
[ Mikey  May 04, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
There is an amp in your Suburban that powers the subwoofer and our gear will install the new radio so that the stock amp continues to work. The subwoofer will continue to work because of this! HTH! My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101
