About the Kicker 43CWR122

Overbuilt? More like built just right

Kicker designed their CompR subs for people who love to hear strong bass in their music. The CompR 43CWR122 12” subwoofer comes equipped with a tough, polypropylene cone that stays rigid during intense play sessions so you hear accurate bass. A custom-designed back and top plate give the woofer plenty of room to travel, while the durable rubber surround helps to control cone movement during a heavy workout. This sub uses extensive venting in its heavy steel basket to shrug off heat, so you can count on reliable performance.

Say hello to system flexibility

This Kicker CompR sub will handle up to 500 watts RMS so make sure you have an amplifier that'll do it justice. Its dual 2-ohm voice coils give you more wiring options when setting up your system, and this versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 375 and 750 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

These are my first set of Kicker subs in all the years I've been doing car audio systems. I am very pleased with them, powered by a JBL GTR-1001 amp, I have a pair in a slot ported box running at 1000W rms @ 2 ohms. Tuning is handled by a Kenwood Excelon DDX8905S and these things are absolutely pounding in my SUV. Make sure you're putting the recommended power to these and wiring them correctly for your amp!

Pros: Hard hitting

Cons:

WOW !

Incredible tight bass. Listen to everything from Classic Rock to R&B and Rap. The drums in rock are tight, the bass notes in a rap song carry well and low. These were placed in a S.O. ported box with filler added to make up the recommended air space. I am running "old school" Audio Art 100ms amps ( bridged mono ) to each sub.

Pros: Cost ! dont know how Kicker makes a profit off these.

Cons: haven't found one yet.

Exceeded My Expectations

Just recently put 2 in my vehicle in a dual sealed enclosure (1.2 cu ft per sub) powered by an Audiopipe APDLI 16001D mono amp @2 ohms for 1000 watts rms. I mostly listen to Rock and Spanish music and the bass is tight, clean, low and accurate. They also handle the loose boomy bass of Rap\HipHop very well. I can't wait till they are properly broken in to see what they can really do.

Pros: Everything

Cons: None

Pros: Hit hard for a decent price.

You don't know what your missing until you put 2 of these in your vehicle. I bought these a couple weeks ago and my head is still shaking. I have them in a sealed box this time around for my different genres of music, compared to the ported boxes I've used in the past. I have a JL AUDIO JX 1000 pushing these and I'm stoked on the sound. Get them now you will not be disappointed!!

43cwr122 subwoofers

I just received the brand new 43cwr122 kicker comp r loaded enclosure. I have a 2010 ford edge limited, fits perfect in the back. Facing away is best. I couldn't believe it at first, I'm getting them broken in,but I barely turned up the volume and it hit so hard it took my breath away. I have a kicker cwx 1200.1 amp pushing them. These subwoofers are awesome! Best money spent. I've had different systems since 1988, and these are the best besides my kicker L 7, if you want to knock the air out of someone or bend some sheet metal, go get them fast.

Pros: Very clean and hard hitting bass, designed perfectly, custom enclosure is built tough. I wouldn't change anything.

Cons: No cons from me,

Product Research

Features

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 2Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.

Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Kicker recommends sealed enclosures from 1.0 ft³ to 2.0 ft³.

Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. Kicker recommends ported enclosures in the following range:

  • Minimum Enclosure Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 20" slot port
  • Maximum Enclosure Volume: 2.25 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 3" x 20-1/2" slot port

Note: Although some are smaller than optimal, the prefabricated enclosures we list on the accessory page produce good results.

I needed a subwoofer that was ultra reliable. I thought that JL was a little too much and the speakers in my car are Kickers and they have done nothing but impress me. [ Tyler Michael  Jan 05, 2018 ]
A
I like the comp R's [ Ty  Sep 03, 2017 ]
A
Kicker is famous for their hard hitting power hungry subs. Have owned de Comp S on a 98 Mirage, the Comp R hits twice has hard and take more power! Only self complaint is that I should have bought de 15 inch sub since my new 2017 Elantra has some strong insulation on the back. I just an old school guy who love to rattle windows and then some!
